Chapter 1

She knocked his door nervously she'd never been this close to him or his office before today. He and asked for her personality to go to his office. She hoped he wasn't going to fire her she was still paying her graduation fees. She'd never been up to this level of the building before and had never seen him either. He had a private elevator to his office. It was a cold ora around the top level of the building. She could feel the presence of power up here every inch of it, the building reeked richness, most of it was painted with plain colours with a hint of gold leaf. She knocked the door.

"Enter."

She swallowed opening the door stepping in.

"Close the door."

She shut it behind her. "You wanted to speak to me sir."

"I do." He paused. "Where do you see yourself in five years Miss. Hampshire?"

She'd been asked at the interview why was he asking her he surely knew.

"Answer me!!"

She jumped her heart racing faster. "In five years sir, I'd like to think I have more experience in this company and join others working my way up the ladder to a higher position in the company. And to gain more experience."

He nodded. "And after you have gained that experience what will you do with it?"

She swallowed hard again. Should she answer and tell him she wanted to have her own company one day.

"Answer me!! I don't like being ignored."

"I ..I." Her words got stuck.

"I am not a monster Miss. Hampshire so answer the god damn fucking question. I won't get mad at your answer."

"I'd like my own company sir."

She hadn't even seen him get up. "It's all I've ever wanted. This a good experience for me to understand the business world and how it works sir."

His breath hit her neck she shuddered. "I have a proposition for you." He leaned on closer. "Layla."

She looked at him. Oh shit, this was not happening not a fucking gain. "Aubrey." She said, short of breaths.

He smiled slimy like he has always done. "I don't do this very often, but I'd like you to come and work for me up here. With me so you can say learn the ropes as we call it. You'll get to know every thing about the business, so you'll have a true insight on how things are done in the business world."

"I'm sorry I can't."

"There's no such word as can't."

She knew that all too well with what happened in high school.

"I..I.."

"Settled. You come here at eight on the morning. I'll teach you everything I know. You'll be coming to meetings with me, recording minutes, taking notes and interjecting in the meetings once you get used to it."

"So I'm your P.A?"

"Of some sorts."

She gulped.

"Sounds good?"

"I guess.'"

"Perrrfect." He purred. Leaning further in. "Welcome to my world Miss. Hampshire." He said kissing her cheek.

What the hell did this guy want? She hadn't seen him in eight years since they all left high school and she hoped she never would after everything he had done to her.

"I'll see you bright and early tomorrow morning. I'll get someone to get your stuff off your desk so you feel more at home. How does that sound?"

"G...good." She stuttered.

"There is no need to be nervous Miss. Hampshire, if it wasn't for you I'd never be where I am today." His breath tickling her face.

Why did he have to be so close?

"I'll have the contract drawn up and I'll go through it with you, okay."

"Okay." She said, short of breath.

He smiled kissing my cheek. "You may go. You have a lot of work to finish before you start your new job tomorrow."

I nodded and opened the door. I began to walk away. "Oh I forgot to mention from tomorrow we share lunch together, so no getting making plans because all of them will be with me from now on are we clear."

"Yes sir."

He smiled closing the door. She walked nervously back to the elevator getting in and pressing the number 4 to my now old office. I walked in everyone watching me. They all knew I had been to see the big boss man what they did not expect was me to continue working. They all had thought he fired me. She just wished that was the case then I wouldn't have to see his arrogant face again.

Five years previous.

Layla sat on the field at Highlands Grammar School. Aubrey had begun there the previous year but he had never approached her until today. He was a jerk and a self cantered absurd prick who thought he owned the school. He wasn't a bad boy as such, but he had that pasonah about him. He walked around the school like he owned it, as well as his friends who everyone around the school hated they were the biggest bullies going.

Layla had tried her best to steer clear of them, but it was hard to with them sharing classes and they had leeched on to her for her help seeing as they were failing miserably. She had agreed just to keep them off her back, but had got more than she had bargained for when they started groping her. She'd cried wolf, yet no one had believed her, those assholes had a way with getting away with everything. Now she was forever in their debt for even thinking she could rat on them with out them knowing that it was her.

Aubrey was their new addition seeing as he wasn't scared of them and they respected him for that after they had all got into a fight the first day he had stared at the school as an outsider which he no longer was. They'd welcomed him into their gang with open arms and a hell of a lot of respect for the guy for taking them on all at once and not backing down. All four of them had been penalised for their fight and had been suspended for a whole week. That didn't stop them though, once Aubrey had joined them things have become worse over the last year.

They were now in year ten and were about to begin studying for their exams next year. She hated the thought that she had to help his so called friends. He walked up to her his shadow overcast her. She looked up and swallowed hard he looked like an Angel under the afternoon sun, but she knew differently. "Good afternoon Torino."

Yes he was half Italian he'd lived their until a year ago when he and his family up and moved to the U.K. to extend their business venture and it had become common knowledge between a lot of the pupils there and they had tired to worm their way in.

He had ignored them all except Alexander Collins and his friends, whom had confronted him and called him a rich bastard and had offered him out. And to their suprise he'd took all four of them on what they weren't aware of was his family background. No one there knew and he'd preferred it that way. He'd been taught how to defend himself at an early age, he knew self defence and mixed martial arts, and he also knew how to sneak up on people if he had to. He had some training in weaponry but he was not old enough to know everything at the tender age of fifteen. Yes his family was mafia and they had a lot of resources in the U.K. and Italy.

He had chosen to keep this information away from every one no one need know about him or his family background. Like his father and once told him. "Trust no one cause in the end they'll end up stabbing you in the back or shooting you dead."

"Aubrey what can I do for you ?" She stuttered.

"I heard you were a good tutor Torino."

"I wouldn't say that."

"My friends recommended me to you."

"Oh."

"I need your help, Torino."

"My name's Layla, and how do you think I can help you're in none of my classes."

"That's where you are wrong Torino, they are swapping my classes around to fit with yours."

"And why would they do that?"

He sat beside her. "Cause I asked them to Torino."

"Why would you even do that?"

"Like I said, I need your help."

"You can have my help without investing your self in my classes which are clearly not at your level."

He glared at her angrily. How dare she think that little of him.

"It's only a few of your lessons Torino not all of them." He said, calmly.

"Which ones?"

"Business, I.T. Maths and English the rest of them I will need you to home tutor me after school with homework and stuff."

"And if I say no?"

He leaned forward talking into her ear. "I will make your life a living hell. You don't know who you are dealing with."

Chapter 2

She swallowed her ears ringing.

"So what's it to be Torino are you in or are you out?"

"I'm in."

"Good choice. I'll wait for you after school seeing as we have no lessons together until tomorrow."

She nodded.

He kissed her cheek. "Thank you, Torino. I'll see you by the gates, so tell your parents you will be back late."

She nodded as he pulled himself up walking away.

"So what happened? What did she say?"

"She wasn't too happy about it, but I twisted her arm."

They all smiled. "How did you even do that?"

"Easy."

"You blackmailed her?"

An evil grin spread across his face.

"You're just so damn fucking good, Aubrey Tanner. I'm glad we have you on our side."

"Always."

Aubrey stood waiting by the gates, he'd looked at his watch ten times already where the hell was she? Had she ditched him and run home? If she had he'd find her, he'd already been given her address just in case she bailed on him.

She slowly walked up to him as he was smoking his cigarette. He looked up and over to her. "Where have you been? I was begging in to think you ditched."

"I'm sorry I had to go to the library for the last lesson and the teacher made us stay until his lecture was done."

"Well, you're here now." He said, stamping his cigarette out. "Come on let's get this over and done with so we can get you back home before dark." He chuckled.

"I'm not ten."

"I know Torino."

"What do you keep calling me that?"

"I'll tell you one day come on."

She followed him down the street where the hell was he taking her it seemed like they were walking for hours.

Maybe he should've let his driver pick them up, but he didn't want to scare her the mansion was going to scare her enough.

They finally reached their destination the guards opened the gates letting them in. "Why have you got guards?"

"Dad reckons it's better to be safe than sorry." He couldn't tell her the truth she'd definitely run scared if she wasn't scared of him already.

They walked up to the large house she looked amazed by its beauty it had to be the sixteenth century. "My father likes history, especially old buildings."

She nodded still amazed by it all.

He opened the large wooden door to the large hallway covered in pictures of the monarchy, they looked Italian. "I guess everyone was right, you are a rich bastard."

His jaw dropped he had not expected that from her mouth. He didn't even know she used curse words his friends had told him she was a quiet girl and she was always happy to help others with their school work. He didn't expect that one bit he shook his head, and his jaw tightened. "I guess that's why everyone wants to get to know me."

"Not me. And your friends weren't too struck by you being rich either."

"Well, it's not for everyone. Most girls like filthy rich men no matter how old."

"Not me, trust me money doesn't make a man."

"Then what does?"

"His personality without that there is nothing. No matter how much money someone has, they have to have something more to them other than just money. Money isn't everything there has to be a spark, a guy with a great personality who makes you laugh and makes you feel yourself and who makes you truly happy is more than all the money in the world."

He was liking this girl already, she wasn't like the rest of the sluts in the school that were trying to get on his dick cause he had money. She was normal and she wasn't bothered about any of that. "Shall we?"

"Where are we going to do our work?"

"I'm my room."

"I don't know Aubrey, I...we..."

"I won't touch you I promise. You're just here to help me nothing else. Come on." He said holding his hand out. She looked down at it, and he smiled. "It doesn't bite Torino."

She cautiously placed her hand in his and he closed his hand around hers leading her upstairs into his room. He closed the door behind them. She looked around the spacious two levelled room his bed on the second level and a study room on the first. "We can use the table it has plenty of room on it for all of our stuff."

She nodded.

"Close your mouth, Torino, you'll be catching flies next. He laughed.

She hadn't released she'd stood taking in the beautifully decorated room which was four times bigger than her room. It was half of the upstairs of the house. "Your room is..."

"I'm glad you like it it's all sixteenth century, it hasn't been long decorated." He smiled. "Please take a seat."

She sat down and he sat next to her. They got all of her books out. He was so much easier to work with not once had he come on to her seductively. He'd listen to her every word.

She looked at her watch. "Shit."

"Language Torino."

"Sorry. I have to go."

"I was going to invite you for a late dinner. My parents work late and I was hoping you'd accompany me."

"I have to go, maybe another time."

"Call your parents and tell them you are still doing your homework. I'm sure they won't mind. Just don't tell them we're alone."

She looked at him.

He smiled.

"Okay."

"That's my Torino." He smiled.

She called her parents telling them she'd be back by ten.

"So did they agree?"

"Yeah."

"Good, dinner is served."

"How did you know they were going to say yes?"

"A hunch, come on Torino. I'm sure you're hungry I know I am."

"Just a little."

He smiled taking her hand and leading her downstairs to the large dining room where the dinner was played out on the table. "I wasn't sure what you liked, so I asked the maids to serve all of this."

She smiled. They both sat down to eat. "Can I ask you something?"

"Sure Torino anything."

She swallowed she wasn't sure if she should ask. "Don't be mad at me."

"I would never be mad at you Tornio, ask me anything."

She swallowed hard again. She was shit scared of how he would react to her question.

"I'm waiting, Torino."

She took a deep breath and asked. "Are your family mafia?"

His face dropped he was not expecting that at all.

"I thought so. I'm sorry I asked. I won't ask again."

He looked at her how the hell was he going to get out of this one? "How did you know?"

"The photos on the wall, they're Italian Mafia."

"How did you know?"

"I have done some research on it for an essay last term. I'm sorry I didn't mean to pry."

God, she was a smart ass too. He leaned towards her. "Now you know my secret I'll have to kill you."

She swallowed nervously.

He laughed. "Just kidding, Tornio."

She breathed heavily.

"This is between us okay."

She nodded.

"If you tell anyone I will not hesitate, I will kill you are we understood?"

She nodded.

"Words Torino."

"Yes, I understand."

He smiled kissing her cheek.

"I..I.. best go."

"Already Torino. The night is young."

"I said I'd be home by ten."

He smiled. Taking her hand and pulling her up. "We'll take the car."

"There's no need I'll walk."

He shot daggers at her. "No Torino, it is not safe. I'll let Lucas know and he'll take you home."

"That isn't necessary."

"You're my guest, I already made you walk halfway over town to get here and you're not walking back, so please accept the lift."

"Okay." She sighed.

"I knew you'd see it my way, Torino." He smiled.

They were met outside by Lucas and the stretch limo. "I'm sorry. I can't go home in that."

"You can."

"Fine." She huffed.

He smiled and they got into the car, Lucas closed the door got in she gave him the address and he pulled away.

After a ten-minute journey, they reached her house, Lucas opened the door. "Thank you, Aubrey."

"No problem. I'll pick you up in the morning."

"You don't have to."

"I insist."

"Okay." She said, unsure.

"Half eight."

She smiled getting out of the car. "Thank you, Lucas."

"My pleasure mam."

She smiled and walked up to the front door opened it went inside closing the door. Lucas pulled away. Aubrey knew from now on he had to be careful she was way too clever for him. Trust a clever chick to choose mafia culture as a subject what are the odds?

Chapter 3

Aubrey picked Layla up to go to school. "Unfortunately, we don't have classes together today, so I'll meet you for lunch and go over our tutoring schedule. Is that okay with you?"

"It's fine."

He smiled. The drive to the school was silent, but not awkward he didn't seem like his friends he seemed to be more casual and easy to talk to.

The car stopped they both slipped out of the car. Everyone watched as she thanked the driver, who bowed and closed the door behind them getting back into the car. The car pulled away. "So are you ready, Torino?"

"Yeah." She swallowed loudly.

He smiled, taking her hand and leading her through the school everyone staring at them. "Why are they staring?"

"Ignore them Torino I'm used to it, but I can see you are not."

"It's just a little unsettling that's all."

"I understand, but it doesn't have to be. We're friends, after all, you have no reason to be ashamed to be around me."

"I'm not."

He smiled. The bell rang, and he kissed her cheek. Dropping her hand. "I'll see you at lunch don't be late." He said, walking away.

Layla sat on the grass when the four girls approached her. "We're here to give you some advice."

She ignored them god she hated these bitches they'd start on you for the slightest thing.

"Are you listening, Layla?"

She looked up. "Not really, but at a guess, you're going to take a dig at me anyway."

"Stay the hell away from Aubrey."

"If only I could." She said, dryly.

"You stay away from him or you will suffer."

"I will, once I stop tutoring him."

"No. You do it now, make him find another tutor."

"He asked for my help. I don't go back on my word."

She grabbed Layla by her blouse. "You will, or else."

"Leave her alone Angie."

She looked up as Aubery came toward them. "Now Angie."

"But."

"She is my tutor, so deal with it slut. Just cause I went to her instead of you, stop being a jealous whore. I have no interest in you or your minions so get lost."

She let go of Layla's blouse and looked at her. "This isn't over."

"Yes, it is, go!"

Her eyes cut daggers as Layla walked away. Followed by her minions. "Thanks."

"They can't bully my Torino, only I can." He said, coldly.

What had he meant by that?

"I need your help, Torino."

"What with?"

"You're brainy, so I want you to help me with an assignment."

"How?"

He smiled evilly.

"Oh no, Aubrey. I'm not writing it for you."

"Did I say anything about writing it? Just make it look like I've done it."

"They'll find out Aubrey. And they'll expel me and you."

"No, they won't you have to trust me on this."

"The answer is no. I'm not getting in shit for you."

He pushed her down onto the grass. Looking evilly at her. She looked nervously at him, what had happened to Aubrey from last night? The one she'd rode to school with. His eyes were so cold so angry. "You'll do it, Torino. After all, you found out my secret and now you are in my debt forever. I can't let you leak out such information."

"I won't. I promise."

"Promises are just broken words, Torino. You will help me, or I'll make sure to make your life a living hell."

Tears slipped down her face. "Okay, I'll do it."

He smiled.

"That's my Torino. We're going to get in just fine if you keep this up." He said, kissing her.

"So you gave the brains a lift to school this morning?"

"I did, we had a lot to discuss."

"So this will be an everyday occurrence?"

"Until school is over, yes."

"So are you, you know gonna..."

"No, I don't."

"Fuck her, geese Aub she's hot."

"No, I'm not."

"She wouldn't let him anyway, you'd have to get her on drugs or alcohol, she's so fucking tight."

"Well, she won't be by the end of the year guaranteed."

"What are you planning Aub?"

"You'll just have to wait and see."

They all chuckled evilly.

Aubrey waited forever for her outside the school gates by the Mercedes. He opened the door and she slipped in he slid in next to her closing the door. The car pulled away. He looked at her. "Sorry for today Torino. I don't like being told no, there is no such word as no, or can't in my vocabulary so please don't use either of them."

"Okay."

They arrived at the mansion going upstairs to his room. He placed his books on the table. "This is what I'd like you to do."

She looked at it. "Why you can do this yourself? you know more than I do about all of this."

"I read your essay and I was very intrigued. I'd like you to tweak it up a bit, I have a lot of books here. All I'm asking is for your help, I'm not that good at English. I'd like you to twist it a little so you can make it mine so it sounds nothing like yours."

"What if they realise it's not yours?"

"Lie. Just tell them you helped me with it and helped with the sentence structure, grammar etcetera."

"Okay."

"Use my laptop and print it off just remember to use my name okay."

"Okay."

He smiled, getting his laptop and turning it on she went to the shelves grabbing some books. He smiled he was glad his friends mentioned her to him she'd be a great asset to him in the future.

She sat down looked through all of the book talking notes then typed them up with the right grammar and speech. He smiled this girl was a genius.

She saved it printing it. "There, finished."

He took it out of the printer reading it. Smiling. "You're a lifesaver, Torino."

She smiled. He placed his hand on her face leaning forward pressing his lips on hers and kissing her.

She quickly moved away. "I...I... have to go home."

"What's the rush, Torino? We can eat first."

"I really should be getting back."

He smiled. "Maybe next time."

"Maybe."

"I'll let Lucas know you're leaving to drive you home."

"I can call my dad."

He shook his head. "Out of the question. You are my guest and you will take my offer of a ride home."

"Okay."

He smiled

She got into the car. "I'll pick you up in the morning."

"That's not..."

"It is, you are helping me so I am helping you in return."

"Okay. I'll see you in the morning."

He smiled. "8:30 Torino."

She nodded and got into the car.

The car pulled away taking her home.
