The Mafia's Rebel Wife

Author: : Habiba.
Genre: Mafia
"Freya you have to tell him the truth." Anna tells me, her face creasing in worry. "No, I can't, he'll kill me, he'll cut me to pieces, you know him." I place my shaking hands on my trembling lips. "He wouldn't, he cares for you." Anna hisses. "Same way he cared for his ex wife before he killed her, burned her to the ground in her own home." I grit out. "Those are just rumors, it holds no ground to the truth." Anna tries to convince me. "I can't stay Anna, I'm tired, I can't live like this anymore, I'm loosing my mind, pleaseee help me." "But you can't just run away, he'll never forgive you, and when he finds you, you know he'll surely kill you then. Rino hates to be deceived." Anna says frantically before lowering her voice to a whisper. "Especially not when you run away with his child."

Chapter 1 Caught

"Get her now." one of the large men behind me roars heavily but I don't stop running, I can hear the erratic thumping of my heart in my ears. I hide behind a tree in the woods.

"Make sure you find the bitch, we cannot afford to lose her today." Another deep voice says.

I look towards the bleeding in my stomach and hiss at the amount of blood I'm losing, and by the time I realize the bleeding must have left a trail behind me, my left ear rings loudly and I fall to the ground groaning.

"Fucking bitch, so the is where you were hiding." The man says with a dark smirk. I crawl across the ground in a hurry and when he bends to reach for my shoulders, I land a heavy blow to his nose.

"You will pay for that." The man screams, dragging me by my hair.

"Matteo, get your hands off her, boss wants her unscathed." another well built man in a suit says calmly.

Matteo hisses angrily before roughly putting me over his shoulders and I begin to scream his ears off.

"Put me down you bastard." I bang my fists into his back. "You've got the wrong person,I already called the cops, where are you taking me?" I get no answer in return from about all 10 of the men in suits. He throws me into a car and someone I didn't notice from behind me puts a clothe over my nose and I fall into dark nothingness.

~~~~~~
I wake with a start in a dark room, I'm tied to a chair and my heart nearly halts from nerves, the air from my nose comes out in short breaths and I keep my mouth open to avoid passing out again. The only time I've ever been this scared was whenever I was near Rino, just thinking about him has my control over my own body and mind spiraling. I try to convince myself that maybe he's not the one who found me, I do not want to imagine what he would do to me, I begin to sob at the thought.
"Why are you crying?" my entire being stiffens. The door opens and the exact copy of Rino walks in. "No one has touched you yet and you are already crying." The shadow's head tilts in genuine confusion. I gasp as he comes into my line of view and scans my face.
"It's been a really long time, Freya." My brow's creases as to why he's the one here. "Obviously, not long enough Louis." I croak out.
"Now, we have a lot to catch up on, don't we?" He gives me a small reserved smile, and if I didn't know better, he could pass for an old friend but I did know better.
"Fuck off." I hiss at him despite my fear. "Ahh, there you are, the Freya I know, ever so stubborn."
My hair gets pulled back harshly. "Now tell me. Where. Is. My. Brother's. Child?" I feign ignorance.
"I don't know what you are talking about." I grit out.
"You don't?" The look he gives me unwinds me but I still ignore it.
"No, I don't."
"Okay." He merely shrugs, "how about I give you something to remember then.
The door opens and a man drags a woman by her hair into the room and across the floor.
"Do you know her?" Louis asks and I swallow loudly as I look over her features. Of course I know her, she was the nurse who helped me through my labor, I haven't seen her in years but I would never forget her face.
"She has nothing to do with this." I plead.
"Really? because she claims to have helped give birth to a child you know nothing about." I close my eyes and inhale deeply.
My eyes fly open at the click of the safety of a gun being unloced, my face scrunches in horror and by the time I begin screaming for him to stop, there's already a splatter of blood everywhere. My body freezes in shock, the metallic smell of blood fills my nostrils and stomach and I become very nauseous. The last time I saw so much blood would be during the birth of my baby.
"You fucked up bastard." I try to yell but it comes out as a whisper.
The door to the room opens again and a man walks in with two other men behind him dragging a man into the room and throwing him onto the floor in front of me and my breath ceases.
"Do you still not know this man too?" I barely recognize him, his face is badly covered in cuts and blood but I would know that set of curly blonde hair anywhere.
He lays unmoving in front of me. "No, no, no, no, no, Oh God, please no." I try to slide to the floor, try to hold him in my arms but the only thing I can do is rub my face against his bloodied one but it's not enough, I still can't feel his warmth.
I hear Louis chuckle darkly, probably satisfied by the amount of concern he could get out of me. "Now let's try this again." He says pointing a gun to his head.
"Where. Is. My. Brother's. Child?"
I have never felt so cornered in a really long time. "No, no, no." I scream trying to put myself in front of Lucas. "Kill me instead please." I cry, I have never felt so desperate in years.
"Just tell the fucking truth, you traitor." Louis let his expression show his rage for the first time since he stepped into this room. "Was it for him? Did you deceive and abandon my brother for a man?" I try to shake my head but fear of what might happen next engulfs me.
"And here I was, really hoping you might somehow, just maybe have a genuine reason for leaving." He says before dragging Lucas from my feet and placing the gun beneath his neck and I scream historically.
"I'll-I-I will t-talk, just L-let me talk t-to R-Rino, please." I stuttered out in a rush unclearly but he seemed to understand because he threw Lucas towards the men and they took him out of the room. Louis looks at me for one last time in disgust before also walking out.
Chapter 2 Captured
I wake up from another deep slumber, I've been feeling drowsy lately, the wound on my stomach has been cared for by some woman and the dead nurse and anything of her existence in this room has been cleared up except for the memory stuck in my head, I've been here for days waiting for Rino to show up but no amount of preparation could make me feel better, and it wasn't until I heard his voice that I realized there was another soul with me in the room, he always had that skill.
"You wanted to see me, wife." There he was, regally seated right across from me with his legs crossed, staring directly at me with those same hazel eyes that mostly looked at me with coldness more than they did with warmth in the years that I knew him. I knew that I would feel a lot of things when I would see him but what striked me the most was the relief that I felt, I had never felt so relieved to see his face. I spent so much time only fearing him, so the foreign emotion was a blur and shock.
"Speak." His harsh and gruff voice jerked me back to reality. His face gave nothing away as usual and that much was bone crushing. No one betrayed Rino and still lived to see a second later but I am and I know if he didn't think I was the mother of his child, I would be dead by now and I'd rather he killed me.
"I'm sorr-"
"Don't! Tell. Me." He Interrupted.
"Y-ess, I was pregnant." I confess trying to not let the tremors show but failing. "Yes I gave birth." I swallow thickly. "But the child is gone." I close my eyes and cover my lips with my fingers. "My baby died a few weeks later, I had complications, the birth was complicated." I look away from him sobbing hard as I hold my belly.
Rino maintains his cold gaze, the only obvious sign of his rage would be his tightly closed fist. He stands roughly and begins to walk away quietly.
"W-wait, please, L-Lucas, please let him go, he has nothing to do with this." I say shakily and immediately regret it, Rino turns in a flash and heads straight for me, he picks me up by my throat without squeezing and I know he's holding back with everything in him.
"Why?" He asks.
"I was suffocating." I try to explain.
"And then you run with my child to the arms of another man? Was the child even mine?" He still speaks quietly, his voice a low tune, his hands around my neck tightening, the slight hurt crosses his face but he never cared about me, why would he be hurt.
"M-my brother," I wheeze out and scratch at his hands and he lets go of me.
"Lucas is my brother." I say breathing hard.
"Your brother?" He asks, his eyes untrusting.
"Yes, I found out he was alive before I left." Rino lets go of me like I disgust him before walking out of the room, and I collapse to the ground in exhaustion.
~~~~~

I wake up again for the hundredth time but this time, it's in a proper bedroom, in fresh and neat clothes and three women running around.

"What's happening?" I try to sit up.

"Mrs Garcia." one of the women gasps and I wince at the name. I haven't been called that in ages.

"Where am I"? I ask the other woman, ignoring the first one.

"You are in the Garcias mansion ma'am, this is Mr. Garcia's room." She says with a cool smile like I did not just almost get a whiplash.

"Why? What am I doing here?" I ask frantically.

"You are my wife, where else would you be if not in my room." The baritone voice and enchanting face emerges from where must have been the bathroom with nothing but only a towel around his waist.

"I-I don't understand, I-I have to go home." a cloud of fear rises above my head.

"This is your home Freya." He murmurs and shivers passes through me at the sound of my name.

"No, my name is Emily Maxwell and this is not my home." I tell him getting spiked.

My declaration earns me a short chuckle from him. "My child died because of you." He says looking me dead in the eye.

"No."

"If you didn't run, his birth would not have been subjected to complications." I shake my head, that's not true.

"You know how much I've always wanted a child, so you are going to remain here until you can give me another child." He cannot possibly mean that.

"I know you are angry and I'm sorry but I have to go home." I desperately clutch at his arms and my anxiety gets the better of me till I can no longer breathe.

"I'll do anything to make sure you stay alive till then, Freya. Every action has consequences so be lucky I did not put a bullet through your head." He says before walking into the closet leaving me breathless and paralyzed at my new hell.

This cannot be happening to me, I have to go home Rino, I really have to go home.

Chapter 3 Put the gun down. Freya

"Eat." I ignore him, twirling my spoon. His face twists and he looks me dead in the eye.

"Feed yourself out of your own free will or I will make you." He stresses out clenching his jaw. I didn't need a second later to begin to eat because I knew he wouldn't hesitate to cause me pain if he wanted to.

A few minutes later, there's a loud chatter from the living room and an elegant woman with dark black bangs emerges and charges straight for me.

"You fucking bitch, how dare you have no shame and show up now of all times." I recognize her loud annoying voice as belonging to my sister in law. Before anyone blinks she throws my glass of drink all over me and grabs my hair from behind.

"You must have some nerve abandoning my brother for years and returning when he's this close to my moving on, you whore." She yells in my face, demonstrating with her fingers before slapping me hard across my cheek.

Anger, that's all I feel, all the pent of frustration of being back here against my will and the memories that fill this place, the humiliation and tolerating her and Rino just letting it all happen by being a bystander. I will no longer let her get away with abusing me verbally, emotionally or physically. I'll never be able to run away anymore so I better start introducing the family to a new me. So when I pounce on her I don't slap her, I punch her hard.

We struggle with pulling her hair and dragging her across the room with her loud screaming and someone pulling me away from her.

"Don't flatter yourself Micah, I'd be most happy if your brother would move on also." I yell at her as she stares at me in shock, I look back to see it was Louis pulling me back and I shrug out of his grip roughly.

"Put your hands on me again, and I will do irreparable damages to your pretty face." I turn to leave the room and Rino still sits there eating with a stupid smirk on his face like this is some sort of entertainment, sick bastard.

"Is this some sort of joke to you?" I ask him, I don't know where I get the confidence from but seeing him comfortably seated with a smirk on skyrocks my anger through the room.

"Is this some sort of fucking joke to you?" I scream at him, moving to hit him on the arm when he continues to ignore my outburst.

"Freya." Louis warns from behind me but I ignore him and all I see is red. I snatch a gun from one of the bodyguards close by and point it at Rino and I hear Micah's loud gasp.

"Freya drop the fucking gun." Louis calls again, this time with an edge to his voice.

"Do you know what I went through in this house? I was in pain, I was suffocating, I was scared, I was alone and I needed you but you were never here, yes I did abandon you but you abandoned me first, and I don't regret it, I would do it a 100 times over if I get the chance." I say feeling like I'm going insane.

Rino's spoon loudly clinks onto his plate as he finally looks up at me with dark eyes. He stands and slowly walks towards me till his chest is touching my gun.

"So what? You are angry, get it over with, pull the trigger." There's anger in his dark, luminous voice and with his closeness, I realize my whole body is shaking and the gun in my hand is trembling but I hold on tightly to it.

"Brother." Louis calls again angrily and Rino raises his hand to shut him up.

"Pull the fucking trigger wife." Rino says looking me dead in the eye.

I can't kill him, I'll hate myself for the rest of my life and besides I'd be dead a few seconds after, who can even guarantee my safety after I just pointed a gun at the beloved mafia King, son and brother, if only he could have been a beloved husband too. Uncontrollable tears and laughter fill me and I turn the gun over and point it to my throat.

Rino's eyes flashes with something strange as he closes his eyes and inhales deeply like he's trying to restrain himself.

"Put the gun down Freya." He commands.

"I'm getting it over with like you said." I close my eyes ready to pull the trigger but someone from behind me holds on to my shoulder and hand with the gun.

"Careful Louis." I hear Rino shout and screams follow as the gun fires at the chandelier upwards.

"Freya." I hear Rino collecting me from the arms of Louis. "Freya baby, Oh God, stay still." His voice is so soft but his face looms dark with anger and worry, his hands red and I realize, the whole of me feels very heavy, I can't move or speak so I struggle.

"My baby." I whisper, "my child needs-" darkness feels me before I can finish.

it's true when they say that in those last final moments, all you will remember and feel is regret, great bone crushing regret.

~~~~~~
"Freya?"
"Freya?"
"Freyaaa!!!" I wake up screaming, and it takes a full moment to realize I'm the one screaming with Rino on top of trying to hold me down.
"You're okay, shhh," he says, carefully rubbing my arms to calm me.
"What happened.?" All the memories start flooding in and I try to push away from him but the pain in my neck won't let me.
"Your neck was slightly grazed by the bullet but it will heal after a few days." Rino informs me before standing to leave.
"Do you know how much I really want to hate you too? What happened to Grace was your doing and then you ran and now you lie and say you ran because of me, I know I lacked as a husband but I gave you everything you could ever need, you knew the conditions of our marriage before we got married." His back still to me before slamming the door on his way out. This is the most he has said to me with any real emotion in all the years I have known him and he wouldn't even look at me.
