Chapter 1 Prologue

That was one of those horrible winter days in the city of Manhattan. It was too late by the time Sania had finished the extra class on Art and Design. She is a fashion designing student from New York University. Finishing up with her college, she took the bus to south Manhattan and went straight to the Greenwich hospital. "Hello I'm here on an appointment with Dr. Jones." Sania drummed her fingers with anxiety at the reception desk.

"Just a minute mam..." The middle aged lady looked at her computer and nodded to her with a smile. "Go straight and turn into the last room."

"Hello Sania, how are you? Please have a seat. I thought you would not come today." The doctor checked the time on her wrist watch and spoke to her.

"I'm sorry ma'am. I had an unexpected extra class today. Thus I was late." Her hands shivered as she pulled the chair and sat across the doctor.

"It's alright." The doctor took out a document from one of the drawers and pushed it towards her.

Sania blinked rigorously to curtail her tears, rubbed her sweaty hands to her pants before she took the pen with trembling fingers.

But the physician stopped her. She observed the young girl before her dubiously. "Are you doing this in your complete willingness?"

Sania could not trust her voice and only managed a nod.

The physician gave her a knowing smile filled with solicitude. "You still have time and can back out of this even now. There is no pressure. The person for whom you are supposed to work is amazingly filled with kindness and consideration."

"I am into this wholeheartedly and with complete sanity, Dr Jones." Sania replied though meekly but with firmness.

"Please read the agreement before you sign it, Honey." The doctor observed her profoundly before she took her signatures and put on her gloves.

One of the nurses came and guided her to the surgery room. Laying on the treatment bed Sania had an intense agitation racing in her heart. Her mind was in constant consternation since morning pleading with her to stop what she was about to do. But was she left with any other option?

"I have to do this." She counseled herself and closed her eyes tight as if the act would drive away the reality in front of her which was taunting her with unholiness.

Suffering the pain of the needle she left a soft 'uh' with tears dripping which could no longer be controlled. Mama I'm sorry, please excuse me for this. I love you and papa so much but there was no other way left. She let out a silent sob. But unfortunately Sania's pain and tears couldn't be heard by her parents and she did not want them to hear her either. It was the horrible reality of her life that she was destined to suffer.

After completion of the procedure she was asked to rest on the same treatment table for an hour without moving. By the time she was out of the room it was very late. "Do you have someone to take you home?" The doctor asked her with concern.

"My brother is waiting outside." Sania lied through her teeth, shook hands with doctor Jones and slowly walked to the entrance suffering the pain in her body. "Sania, remember you need to take rest for today and tomorrow." The doctor voiced out to her from behind to which she turned around and could only nod with a smile that absolutely didn't reach her eyes.

Hissing in pain she took her steps out carefully out of the hospital in the pitch dark environment with no sign of a human. Her body felt worn out and sweaty. She desperately needed a warm shower that might ease her pain and discomfort.

Opening the zip of her bag she took out the phone and called the number given to her a week ago. "Work done. Got the shot. Thank you." Sania kept it short with her dropping strength and hastily reached the bus stop. But even after half an hour of helpless wait not a single transport turned up. It was then she remembered her friend Nina's words in the morning.

The state announced a curfew from the evening because of the growing crime rate in Manhattan. The government has appointed strict vigilance which involved canceling even the public transport services. Sania reached the hospital through the bus. But it seems they have stopped their services now. Gradually she began to grow anxious. How was she going to reach home?

She cursed herself for her absentmindedness and thought she shouldn't have taken an appointment in the evening. Picking her phone once again she decided to call Uber but there was no driver online at the late hour. Hopeless and searching for a drive she walked the deserted streets of Manhattan in desolation when she found four drunk men wobbling out of the night club which she passed a few minutes ago.

Sania tried to walk fast, sending a silent prayer to God to help her out of the difficult situation. But her tired body refused to cooperate. She was feeling pain everywhere. Probably it was the effect of anesthesia. Despite her discomfort, she ran over the dark streets of the late night city trying her best not to invoke their attention and hid herself behind an abandoned workshop. But Alas the mother fu**ers have already seen her.

"The girl ran to this side." One of them pointed to the deserted street that she raced a couple of minutes ago.

Sania's heart drummed rapidly in anxiety. Hidden, she absorbed the hungry looks of the monsters sprinting towards her. A shiver ran down her spine and she gravely searched for a better place to hide but it was already overdue.

The venomous voice of the demon accompanied by a nauseous smell of alcohol entered her nostrils. "Caught you kitten." Before she could process the words one of them caught her legs. The other held her hands tight and the third man unzipped his pants standing between her legs. Sania's eyes went wide in trepidation; she wiggled her body underneath the firm hold of one of the monsters but it was of no use. "Please let me go." She cried pleadingly. But fateless it were not only her culprits but no one in the world heard her desolate and helpless cries.

A rough hand rubbed across her neck and muffled the squeal that escaped her throat. Unfortunately Sania Witmore couldn't fight to save her virginity anymore. The effect of anesthesia accompanied with tiredness cooperated with the manwhores more than to her.

An involuntary 'uh' escaped her lips and her eyelids rolled upwards welcoming her into a placid state of unconsciousness.

Chapter 2 Introduction of Sania

Chapter 1

Sania was at the dining table for breakfast along with her younger sister Lana. Lana nudges her elbow and signals to her the disappointed face of their father. Sania raises her eyebrows and asks Lana the reason and just then their mother places the pancakes along with strawberry syrup on the table with a cold face. Lana shrugs, unable to understand the reason behind the irk of their parents.

"Sania, Rickey called this morning and informed your mother that you are selected at the NYU on scholarship program to do the fashion designing course at Manhattan. Why would you go all the way to Manhattan when you can study the course in the same university here in New York?" Sania gulps a curse for Rickey. The scoundrel is an expert hacker. No matter how many times she changes the password of her email address, he manages to extract it.

Sania knew one day she had to tell her parents the truth but she would have time to convince them as the college was opening after two months. Rickey had seized away that opportunity from her.

She hates her cousin for going behind her and supplying all the information to her parents. Rickey is one year younger to Sania and studies in the same school. He is her mother's sister's son. Though he wouldn't ever admit it, Sania knew Rickey was often jealous of her for getting the best grades. Rickey got scolding from his parents many times taking the example of Sania whenever he obtained low marks.

"Daddy I am not always going to be your little princess staying in your home. I want to enjoy freedom. Moreover I do not like this city at all. It is over populated with too much urbanization and there is a lot of pollution too." Sania reaches the hand of her father across the table in order to comfort him. "On the other hand Manhattan is much a calmer place. Do not worry daddy. I'm now a big girl. I can take care of myself and you know what?" She cheers, clapping her hands. "Nina also joins me in the same college."

With the last sentence Richard's eyes turn bright. "I believe her parents stay in the same city." Sania puts a strawberry in the mouth of her father to sweeten his temper. "Yes daddy. Nina presently stays with her grandparents but she wishes to complete her graduation at Manhattan. Her dad is a cop working in the same city and he insists on her to stay with them least for the last couple of years before she gets married to her boyfriend Jonas.``

'Thank heavens! Daddy takes the news positively.' - Sania thought but Alas! It was only a half win.

"Manhattan's crime rate is the highest among all cities in the United States and I heard the hostel rooms are hardly available because of many students applying to the university." Margaret, Sania's mother said seriously hinting indignance.

Sania grunts inside her throat and rubs the knuckles of Margaret to ease her anger. "Mom, do you trust me?"

Margaret only nodded. "Mama, I will be renting an apartment very near to my college which will be safe. Secondly I got a seat in NYU based on my grades. I have to keep up with my grades so that I continue to study on scholarship. Mom, I am not one of those spoiled brats who goes to clubs looting her daddy's hard earned money. I have no such choices. Please do not be so strict with me. NYU is one of the best Universities in fashion technology." Sania urges her mother.

"So you already decided to leave us and go but that's okay. At least I'm somewhere eased. Nina goes to the same college and her parents are in the same city." Margaret lightens up."

A few days ago...

"So you are still peeping into the same magazine Joseph brought two months ago. I should kill my friend for encouraging you to choose the field." Richard spoke irritated seeing his daughter Sania gazing at pictures of models once again. "Hey daddy, Good morning!" Sania kisses the cheek of her father after getting up from the bed. "Daddy I've wanted to be a fashion designer since the age of ten. One day you will feel proud of me when my models walk the stage with party outfits designed by me. I want to start a boutique which hosts trending dresses in the market, daddy." Sania says dreamily pointing to the pictures of models from the book resting on her bed.

Richard couldn't provide the dream career to his daughter. That is why he tried his best to distract her from her destination but the more he pulled her away the greater was Sania's attraction towards the fashion career. She will be graduating from school in the next six months. Throughout her academics Sania had been a top ranker and always obtained the best grades. She has only one ambition in her life, that is to be a student of NYU and complete her favorite course of fashion designing there.

When she was about to complete her schooling, Sania had applied to all the top universities including NYU that would help her with a degree on a scholarship. Her dad couldn't afford to educate her. Thus Sania put extra effort to achieve top grades so that no university could disqualify her but offer a scholarship.

Two months later, it was the time for results. Keeping her fingers crossed Sania opened her laptop everyday with a dream of a bright future. A month passed by with no fruitful result. She pep talked boosting her morale that any one of those top universities would offer her a free seat. But with passing days only negativity grew in her.

A soft sob left out of her and she decided if she doesn't read any positive news in the day's mails, she is going to accept whatever her parents decide for her. Sania's father is a carpenter and her mother is a nurse working in the city hospital nearby. Her parents couldn't afford higher education for her though they wished their daughter to study more but...

As luck would have it, finally it seems like Sania's stars have found a better way.

God had already tested her enough and it was time to reward her for her patience. When she read the mail in her laptop that she earns a scholarship at NYU, her happiness reached no bounds. It was a dream come true for her. She thought she had to stop her education after graduating from school. Nevertheless diligence is the mother of good luck. Sania was over the moon receiving the exhilarating news.

A week later Sania was alone in the house as she was not feeling well. She was running at a high temperature. Her mom offered to stay home to attend to her but Sania refused. Her parents had made enough sacrifices for her by saving money and not going anywhere even to watch a movie.

It is high time they enjoy themselves. Her dad had gone shopping and bought a dress for her mom on a loan to attend the wedding of his best friend, Joseph's son. She would not allow her mother to ruin her dad's plans.

Ten minutes later, she heard the twisting of the door knob and thought her friend Nina arrived. But unfortunately she was

wrong.

It was Rickey.

Chapter 3 Introduction of Antagonist

Chapter 2

"Anytime I see talks on women empowerment in our families, education of girls, helping them progress, finding them jobs, scholarships, I hear music playing in my head. It increases my heartbeat, causing tension in my arteries. It increases my cortisol levels, testosterone decreases. The left hemisphere in my brain is stimulated." Rickey said going hysterical while pulling the hairs on his head.

Sania was frightened seeing his changing personality. She took several steps back from him. It wasn't usual for Rickey to behave in such a way. She had been seeing him since his diaper days and found his body language suspicious. "Rickey you are behaving like an imbecile. What are you doing at this hour in my house, Rickey? Go, get ready. Don't you have school to attend?" She scolded him in response to an older sister mustering her last drop of courage.

"When a beautiful rose like you is alone in the house, how can I go and attend the boring lecture of that English teacher? I had been attracted to you for a while. But I couldn't show it earlier since we are a family. I am now not able to control it any longer. You are so beautiful, dressed to elegance 24/7." He licked his bottom lip staring at her in lechery.

"Are you drunk because you are talking nonsense? Nobody talks to his sister like this. Go home Rickey. Otherwise I will tell your mom you are bunking the classes." Sania warned but it played no effect on him.

His eyes turned dark with lust and was about to hold her arm but Sania was on time to skip out of bed. "Stop chasing me. Do you know being a minor you are not supposed to drink. It is against the law. Your parents and you can be sent to prison if I complain."

"Stop delivering sermons, Mother Teresa. I know you are not going to complain because you are more bothered about the distress of your mom and dad more than anything. And don't worry. Not a third person will know about this. We will do it and can continue to do it as long as we want without anybody knowing." He winked.

"I have waited for this day since too long. It is time I discharge my wish. You are too sensual and slim with a perfect body." His eyes brushed down her physique from head to toe like a starved beggar.

"Rickey, I'm your sister. Please do not do this to me." Sania cried pleasingly and took the flower vase sitting on the side table about to hit him with it. Just then the front door twisted open and Nina walked in.

She walked to Sania's bedroom cheerfully. "Girl, congratulations to both of us. We got a seat in....." Her sentence died mid-way recording the position Rickey and Sania were in.

Sania and Rickey were on either side of the bed with Sania holding a glass vase about to hit on his head.

Rickey ran out of the room but not before warning Sania. "You will not speak about this to any of our parents. Otherwise I care two hoots to what my mom would feel and complete the task I started today. Mind it!"

A shiver ran down Sania's spine and her determination to grab a seat at NYU became stronger to escape Rickey.

Two months later Sania packs her bags and is all set to go to fulfill her dream. Her dad dropped her at the bus station and mom bid a tearful adieu. "Mom, please don't cry." Sania insisted and got into the car before wiping the tears of her mom.

In the morning when she landed in Manhattan, it was too cold. Her friend Nina, who had already joined the university, receives her at the airport with a warm hug. For the day she stays at Nina's parents house. Mr and Mrs Collins were a friendly couple. They treated Sania very well and loved her like their own daughter.

The next day when she went to NYU campus, Sania was immediately granted the admission but the hostel accommodation was already filled as expected. Though Nina offered to stay with her, Sania did not want to be a pain in the ass of Collins. She rented a room near her college so that she could least save on the transportation expenses.

One year has passed since Sania joined NYU for a fashion technology course. "Hey, did you complete the sketches the lecturer told us to submit today?" Jerome, the handsome guy in her class, asked her. Girls fell flat for this hot guy but his eyes were only for Sania.

Alternatively, Sania was not attracted to Jerome and also any man in the university. Her only concentration was studies. She has to top all the subjects, only then could she retain her scholarship. Else she has to end her studies mid way which is an unacceptable option to her. "Yes I did." Sania replied and waved her hand to Nina who was standing far by.

"I was sick and did not attend the past classes. Can I borrow your designs to get an idea?" Sania was innocent but the duo were subjected to angry and jealous stares of many girls in the college who were plotting big against her.

"Sure" she lent him her notes. Sania became a darling to her professors for obtaining the best grades. The scholarship took care of her education but she had to arrange for herself regarding food and accommodation.

Sania did not want to be dependent on her parents. Her father's salary took care of the housing expenditure and her sister's school fees while her mother's salary was used for clearing housing loans. So she took up a part time job as a waitress in 'cafe day' - a restaurant near her college from morning 6 -9. Soon after she completed her work at the restaurant she went to college to attend her classes.

Everything went on well in Sania's life until a grave evening she received a call, the call which changed her life forever.
