Chapter 1 Dangerous Encounter

I by no means thought my existence would alternate a lot in one night. My call's Aria, and I paint with art. It's my passion. That night, I strolled home from the gallery. The streets have been quiet, and the cool air felt fine after a long day.

Then I heard voices. Angry voices. I have to have just kept walking, however some things made me appear. Big mistake.

In the alley, I saw men. One changed into on his knees, begging. The other held a gun. My heart stopped. This could not be actual, proper?

But it was. The gun went off with a loud bang. I could not assist it - I screamed.

The guy with the gun grew to become and saw me. His eyes have been so cold. I ran. I ran quicker than I ever had before. My legs hurt, my lungs burned, but I could not forestall.

I could pay attention to him behind me. He was getting closer. I became a corner and determined myself trapped. A useless cease. This became it. I was going to die.

I grew to become round, shaking. He came there, gun pointed at me. I closed my eyes, expecting to quit.

But not anything passed off.

I opened my eyes. He changed into just... Looking at me. His face had been modified. He seemed burdened, nearly soft.

"Please," I whispered. "I might not inform every person. I swear."

He decreased the gun. "Get out of right here," he growled. "Forget what you noticed. Or subsequent times, I won't hesitate."

I nodded, tears in my eyes. He stepped apart, and I ran past him. I failed to stop strolling until I changed into a domestic door locked at the back of me.

As I slid right down to the ground, crying, I couldn't shake the picture of his eyes. They'd been so difficult before everything, then so... Humans. Who became him? And why did he permit me to go?

I failed to sleep that night. Every time I closed my eyes, I noticed him. I saw the gun. I heard the shot. What had I gotten myself into?

Little did I recognize, this turned into simply the beginning.

A week passed. I tried to overlook that night, however I could not. I jumped at each sound. I felt like someone was constantly watching me.

Then, it passed off. I changed into closing up the gallery while a man got here. He smiled, but it wasn't pleasant.

"Aria Bellucci?" he requested. I nodded, scared. "You saw something you should not have. My boss isn't happy about that."

I subsidized it. "I-I do not know what you are speaking about."

He laughed. "Don't play dumb, sweetheart. You're coming with me."

I started to run, but he grabbed my arm. I screamed, looking to shrink back. Suddenly, the door burst open.

It changed him. The guy from the alley. He looked indignant, however not at me.

"Let her move," he growled.

The man keeping me laughed. "Or what, Luca? Are you going soft?"

Luca. So that became his name.

Luca moved so rapidly I barely saw it. One second the man was keeping me, the subsequent he became on the floor. Luca stood over him, eyes blazing.

"Touch her once more, and it'll be the last thing you do," Luca stated.

The guy scrambled up and ran out. I stood there, shaking. Luca came to me, his face softer now.

"Are you ok?" he requested.

I nodded, then felt my legs supply out. Luca struck me before I hit the ground. His palms had been sturdy, warm. I felt... Safe. How loopy became that?

"Why are you helping me?" I asked.

Luca sighed. "I should not be. But I can't let them hurt you. It's my fault you are in this mess."

"What mess? Who are these people?"

He looked at me, his eyes sad. "It's better if you do not know. But you are no longer secure right here anymore. You have to include me."

I shook my head. "No way. I do not even realize you."

"You don't have a choice," he said. "They'll keep coming for you. I'm your best chance."

I wanted to argue, however deep down, I knew he was right. I was scared, but something about Luca made me agree with him. Maybe I became crazy.

"Okay," I whispered. "What will we do?"

Luca helped me up. "Pack a bag. You're staying with me for some time."

As we left the gallery, I appeared lower back. My normal existence turned into over. I stepped into a global I failed to apprehend, with a person I slightly knew.

But when Luca took my hand, I felt a spark. This risky gentleman was now my protector. And perhaps, simply maybe, something extra.

What I failed to recognize then changed into how complicated matters could get. Luca had secrets and techniques, massive ones. And those secrets and techniques were about to show both our lives the other way up.

As we drove away into the night, I couldn't help but be surprised: turned into I making the largest mistake of my life, or the most excellent decision I'd ever made?

Only time could tell. But one component became for certain - not anything would ever be the equal once more.

Chapter 2 Forbidden Desires

Luca's location became not anything like I anticipated. It became a cozy condo, not some frightening hideout. As I stepped inner, I felt a mixture of alleviation and anxiousness.

"You can take the bedroom," Luca stated, pointing down the corridor. "I'll sleep on the couch."

I nodded, not sure what to mention. This tough guy was being so... Nice. It became complicated.

That first night, I couldn't sleep. Every noise made me leap. Around nighttime, I crept out to the living room. Luca becomes conscious, staring out the window.

"Can't sleep?" he requested, no longer turning around.

I shook my head, then found out he couldn't see me. "No," I stated softly. "I'm scared."

Luca grew to become me then. His eyes have been so excessive, however now not in a scary manner. More like... He could see properly through me.

"You're safe here, Aria," he said. "I promise."

I don't know why, however I believed him. We talked all night time. About my paintings with art, approximately his family (even though he became pretty indistinct). By morning, I felt like I'd recognised him for all time.

Days handed. Luca would depart on occasion, coming lower back looking burdened. I wanted to invite, however I became frightened of the answers.

One night, he came to domestic harm. A cut on his arm, bruises on his face. I gasped when I saw him.

"Luca! What passed off?"

He tried to comb it off. "It's not anything. Don't worry about it."

But I was afraid. I made him sit down and let me ease his wounds. As I labored, I ought to experience him looking at me. My hands shook a touch.

"Why do you care?" he requested abruptly.

I looked up, amazed. "What do you mean?"

"I'm now not a terrific man, Aria. You have to be fearful of me, not... Looking after me."

I did not know what to mention. Because the truth came out, I wasn't afraid of him. Not anymore. I became afraid of how I felt about him.

"Maybe you're higher than you watched," I said softly.

Luca's hand came up, touching my cheek. I iced over, my coronary heart racing. He leaned in, and I thought he was going to kiss me. I desired him to.

But then his cellphone rang. He pulled away, answering it quickly. His face grew to become difficult once more.

"I have to move," he said, status up.

"Luca, wait-"

But he changed into an already long past. I sat there, touching my cheek in which his hand was. What did I do? Falling for a person I barely knew, a person who changed into clearly risky?

I went to bed that night more burdened than ever. And scared. Not of Luca, however of my emotions for him.

I did not realize then that things were approximately to get plenty, a lot greater complex.

I awoke to shouting. Luca turned into arguing with a person on the smartphone. I crept out of bed, listening on the door.

"I might not do it, Father," Luca announced. "Find someone else."

Father? I held my breath, looking to listen more.

"She's harmless," Luca persevered. "I do not care about my own family's recognition. I won't hurt her."

My blood ran bloodless. Were they talking about me?

The name ended, and I heard Luca swear. I opened the door slowly. He sat on the sofa, head in his palms.

"Luca?" I started softly. He seemed up, amazed. Then his face was modified. He knew I'd heard.

"Aria, I can give an explanation for-"

But I was already backing away. "Who are you? Really?"

Luca stood up, reaching for me. I flinched away.

"Please, simply concentrate," he begged. "I'm trying to protect you."

"From who? Your own family?" I am shaking now. "What do they want with me?"

Luca's face fell. He looked so unhappy, so torn. For a second, I desired to console him. But I was too scared.

"My father... He is the head of the Rossi family," Luca said quietly. "We're... We are now not appropriate people, Aria. And you noticed something you should not have."

The Rossi circle of relatives. Even I knew that call. They have been one in all the largest crime families inside the town.

"You have been speculated to kill me," I whispered, the reality hitting me difficult. "That night in the alley. That's why you allow me to cross."

Luca nodded, searching ashamed. "I couldn't do it. And now... Now my father desires me to complete the process. Or he'll send someone else."

I could not breathe. This could not be occurring. The guy I was falling for... He became a killer?

"I have to cross," I said, walking to the bedroom. I began throwing my things in a bag.

Luca observed me. "Aria, please. I might not allow them to harm you. I'll discern something out."

I came to him, tears in my eyes. "How can I consider you? Everything's been a lie!"

"Not the whole thing," he stated softly. He stepped nearer, and no matter what, I failed again. "How do I sense you... It really is real."

For a second, I wanted to believe him. To fall into his palms and let him shield me. But I could not. Not now.

"I'm sorry," I whispered. Then I ran. Past him, out the door, down the steps. I heard him calling my name, however I failed to forestall.

I ran until my lungs burned. Finally, I stopped in a park, collapsing on a bench. What am I going to do? Where may I want to move that was secure?

As I sat there, seeking to capture my breath, a shadow fell over me. I seemed up, hoping it became Luca.

It wasn't.

A man I'd by no means seen before smiled down at me. But it wasn't a nice smile.

"Hello, Aria," he stated. "The Bianchi circle of relatives would really like a phrase with you."

Before I could scream, the entirety went black.

My remaining notion became of Luca. I'd run from him, right into an excellent bigger threat.

And now, it is probably too overdue for him to store me.

Chapter 3 Desperate Measures

I woke up with a pounding headache. The room became darkish and bloodless. Where changed into I? Then all of it got here dashing again. The fight with Luca, going for walks away, the person in the park. I tried to move, however my fingers had been tied.

"Hello?" I referred to it as out, my voice shaking. "Is all and sundry there?"

A door opened, and light flooded in. A man walked in, smiling. But it wasn't a pleasing smile. It made me feel unwell.

"Ah, our visitor is unsleeping," he said. "Welcome, Aria. I'm Antonio Bianchi."

Bianchi. The different crime families. My coronary heart raced.

"What do you need with me?" I requested, looking to sound courageous.

Antonio laughed. "You, my pricey, are going to help us take down the Rossi family. Starting with Luca."

My blood ran bloodless. "I might not help you hurt him," I said.

"Oh, I assume you'll," Antonio said, his voice hard now. "Unless you want your family to pay the price."

Tears stuffed my eyes. My dad and mom, my little sister. They failed to recognize something about this. I couldn't allow them to get hurt.

"Okay," I whispered. "What do you need me to do?"

Antonio smiled once more. "Good female. Now, let's make a smartphone call, lets?"

He untied one of my arms and gave me a telephone. "Call Luca. Tell him where you're. But if you warn him, your circle of relatives dies. Understand?"

I nodded, my hand shaking as I dialed Luca's quantity. He responded on the first ring.

"Aria? Where are you? Are you okay?"

Hearing his voice, I almost broke down. I desired to tell him everything, to beg him to save me. But I couldn't.

"Luca," I stated, trying to hold my voice regular. "I'm at the vintage warehouse with the aid of the docks. I... I want your assistance."

"I'm on my manners," Luca stated. "Don't move. I'll be there soon."

The name ended, and Antonio took the telephone. "Well achieved," he said. "Now, we wait."

The next hour was the longest of my existence. I sat there, terrified, praying Luca would somehow comprehend it changed into a lure.

Suddenly, there was shouting outside. Gunshots. I jumped, scared however additionally hopeful. Was it Luca?

The door burst open. It turned into him. Luca, looking wild and worried. When he saw me, a remedy washed over his face.

"Aria," he breathed. He started out towards me, but then stopped. His eyes narrowed. "What's wrong?"

Before I could solve it, guys with guns seemed at the back of him. Antonio stepped out of the shadows, clapping slowly.

"Well carried out, Luca," he stated. "You came by myself, much like we were hoping."

Luca's face hardened. He looked at me, and I noticed the moment he realized what had taken place. The hurt in his eyes broke my heart.

"I'm sorry," I whispered. "They threatened my circle of relatives. I didn't have a desire."

Luca nodded slightly. He understood. Even now, he is trying to guard me.

"What do you need, Bianchi?" Luca asked, his voice bloodless.

Antonio smiled. "Your father's territory, for starters. And you... Properly, you are going to assist us get it."

Luca laughed, but it wasn't a glad sound. "And why would I try this?"

Antonio's smile widened. He walked over to me, placing a gun to my head. I whimpered, my eyes closed.

"Because in case you don't," Antonio said, "your little girlfriend right here dies."

I opened my eyes, searching for Luca. Our eyes met, and in that moment, I knew. Whatever occurred subsequent, we have been in this together.

And we'd either make it out alive, or not at all.

I don't know how we were given out of there. It's all a blur of gunshots, shouting, and Luca's arms round me as we run. Somehow, we made it to a small cabin within the woods. Luca said it changed into secure, that nobody knew about it.

As soon as we were inside, Luca checked me for injuries. His palms were mild, his eyes worried.

"Are you ok?" he asked softly.

I nodded, then burst into tears. All the concern, all of the stress, it all got here pouring out. Luca pulled me close, keeping me as I cried.

"I'm so sorry," I sobbed. "I did not need to assist them. I became so scared."

"Shh," Luca stated, stroking my hair. "It's not your fault. You did what you needed to do."

I looked up at him, surprised. "You're not mad now?"

Luca smiled regrettably. "How may I want to be? I'm the reason you're in this mess."

We stayed like that for some time, simply conserving every other. It felt right, like this was in which I belonged.

Finally, I pulled away, wiping my eyes. "What will we do now?"

Luca sighed, walking a hand through his hair. "I don't know. Bianchi 's own family may not prevent us from coming for us. And my father... He'll see this as a betrayal."

"Can't we simply depart?" I asked. "Go someplace they can't locate us?"

Luca shook his head. "They'd find us subsequently. And that they had harmed our families to attract us out."

I felt hopeless. "So what, we just wait here to die?"

"No," Luca stated firmly. He took my arms in his. "I promise you, Aria. I'll find a way out of this. For each other, folks."

I appeared into his eyes, seeing the dedication there. And something else. Something that made my coronary heart race.

"Why?" I whispered. "Why are you risking the entirety for me?"

Luca's hand came up to cup my cheek. "Because you make me want to be better. To be the man you deserve."

And then he kissed me. It became gentle before everything, then deeper. All the fear, all of the anxiety of the past few days melted away. In that second, it changed into just us.

When we ultimately pulled aside, I felt dizzy. Luca rested his brow against mine.

"I love you, Aria," he said softly. "I comprehend it's loopy. We slightly know each other. But I do."

Tears stuffed my eyes again, but glad ones this time. "I love you too," I whispered.

For a little while, we forgot about the hazard. We talked, genuinely talked. Luca advised me approximately growing up in the Rossi circle of relatives, how he'd continually felt trapped. I informed him about my dreams, my fears.

As night fell, we lay together at the small bed. Luca held me near, and for the first time in days, I felt safe.

But as I drifted off to sleep, I could not shake the sensation that this peace would not be closing. Tomorrow, we must face reality again.

And truth changed into coming for us, whether we had been geared up or not.
