Scarlett must decide to ride to the tide or steer the ride.

Chapter 1 Anniversary gone wrong

"Oh, I'm sorry, Scarlett, I don't think you should go up there right now."

Scarlett Davis came to an abrupt halt at the foot of the stairs. A frown creased across her forehead as she casted a confusing look at her boyfriend's sister, Saddy Campbell. Saddy was almost like a sister and heck she loved her but wasn't up for her games that moment.

"Why? I have to see my boyfriend, your brother. Noah is up there, isn't he?"

She looked past Saddy up the stairs. Legs itched her. She couldn't wait.

Saddy lashes blinked but she said no words.

Scarlett drew in a deep breath. Her patience was growing thin by the second.

She tried to sidestep Saddy but Saddy was quick to stand in her way again.

Another exasperated sigh. "What is wrong, Saddy? You need to get out of the way now. I can't keep Noah waiting."

"I don't think Noah wants to see you now, Scarlett," Saddy blurted. Her lips tightened into a thin line.

Scarlett's eyes pinched. Saddy was always like this when she wanted something.

"Okay. What do you want, Saddy Campbell? Let me through and you have what you want. Tell me, is it the trending hair clip? That cute little Puma one or is it the latest Puma shoes?"

To Scarlett's surprise, Saddy just shrugged. No excitement. That was the weirdest thing to ever witness. Saddy indifferent about the latest Puma brand shoes and hair clips. Something was definitely amiss.

"I'm sorry Scarlett but can you not see my brother today?"

"But it's our anniversary and Noah wants me here. You know how we always celebrate our anniversary? Come on now Saddy, I will get you some really nice cakes on our way back. Alright?"

Quickly, she rounded Saddy and headed up forcing herself to ignore the sad look on Saddy's face as she went. A glance at her wristwatch had her sighing. Noah would have given up waiting for her by now.

If only she hadn't entered the wrong train coupled with Saddy's strange behaviour.

She ran up the remaining staircase, cornered into the hallway and stopped at the first door.

Scarlett paused and took a deep breath. Retrieved a little mirror from her purse and checked herself out once more. She had to be perfect. Noah said he didn't mind but she had to be perfect for him. She had ordered flowers and reserved a special place he didn't know of. It was going to surprise him. A little smile tugged at her lips. Certainly she was looking marvellous, Scarlett was sure to blow Noah's mind away.

At the mental count of three she pushed the door and got in.

Tiny moans welcomed her with the sight she hadn't ever imagined to witness. Noah's hands were circled around another girl, lips locked.

Her legs froze right at the door. Lips parted but no words came out. The room spinned before her. Tears stung her eyes and slowly she began to retract, shaking her head.

Then she spun and bolted out of the room.

Scarlett ran all the way out and didn't stop until she was out of Alpha Campbell's building.

Outside she stopped, panting. Her hands reached for her chest and she clutched. She couldn't breathe.

"No...no... I must have seen wrong... I saw wrong..." she continued to mumble, shaking her head. But the memories had already been stored and they reared up again.

She couldn't just leave. Noah was her boyfriend of ten years. She couldn't just leave like a coward... like a loser.

She had to stomp the last of her pride aside and ask. She needed answers.

Clenching her teeth, she wheeled around and dashed back into the house but bumped into Noah who was coming after her.

"Scarlett, let me explain," Noah started.

Scarlett looked up at him.

"Explain? What do you have to explain, Noah? That you have been cheating on me? That the whispers about you seeing another woman in the Pack is right? That what we had for ten years meant nothing to you? Is that what you want to explain? Fine. Go ahead and explain. Who is she?"

"She is Rose..."

"Damn you Noah! I didn't bloody ask you for her name! What is she doing in your room? Why was she in your arms while you kissed her?"

Tears clogged her throat. She paused to gather herself. But her emotions were getting ahead of her.

"Look Scarlett, there is something I should have told you..."

She managed to glance at him, her heart breaking with every second that passed. With every look he gave her. What happened to her lovely Noah?

"Two of us... There is no future between us. People talk. They will keep talking about you...your father..."

"Fuvk Noah! You said it was okay. You said you didn't mind the position of my father in the Pack... You said you don't mind our differences... you didn't mind my father being the Omega of the Pack...Why are you doing this to me now..."

"I'm sorry, Scarlett..."

She reached forward and held him. He had to still love and wish for things to work between them. She searched his eyes hoping to see even the tiniest bit of love for her still there. "I loved you Noah...No, I love you Noah. You know I do... I don't care that you are the Alpha's son and..."

He snatched away. "But I care... I care for it all Scarlett and no matter how much we pretend to not care, it will always be there. Deep inside of us, inside of you, you know what we had was meant to never last."

She fought back a lump in her throat.

"Look Scarlett, I'm sorry I didn't mean for you to find out this way. But I think Rose is my mate."

Scarlett shrunk. "What? You think?"

His face turned serious. "Maybe we have been deceiving ourselves all along. Two of us... we were never meant to be. There is nothing you can offer me. Your father can't help my father as the Alpha and the pressure is on me. I can't let my brother win. But Rose? Her father is the Beta of the Pack. You know what that means to people like me," Noah said. He looked behind his shoulder to see Rose had joined them. He walked over to Rose and took her hands.

"She is the one for me. I have known her as long as I have known you. She is my mate and I have chosen her. Someday I hope you find your own mate."

Scarlett felt her head so light, her knees so weak they nearly gave in. Her fingers grasped onto her dress.

The tears flowed. Noah and Rose disappeared back into the house. She barely managed to c

atch a glimpse of their backs through her hazy eyes.

She turned around and trudged away.

Chapter 2 Tall fine saviour

Scarlett felt several eyes on her as she curled herself into one of the seats in the bar. She ignored their dirty looks and continued to gulp down her drink.

The night was cold and sad. Like her heart. Her throat burned at each gulp but her soul craved for more and her hands continued to pour. She was done crying. Now she was going to drink until her brains would blackout.

"Look at her drinking herself to stupor." She heard one of the girls in a table of three say.

"Poor thing. I think I feel a little pity for her."

"Pfffftttt! I feel no pity for wretched bitches that don't know their place!" The first girl spat.

"How dare she think she can get to be with the Alpha's son? A worthless Omega's daughter marries the Alpha's son? Isn't that laughable?" The third girl cackled.

"Fool. How she didn't know she was only being used. Noah is really smart. Worthless girls like her deserve endings like this one."

The other two laughed.

"So, who is Noah's new bitch? Heard he is planning to marry her after dumping the slum bitch..."

Scarlett chuckled wryly. She was seated right next to them. They spoke in their highest voices and didn't care if she heard their hurtful words. No, actually they said them so she could hear.

Her phone started to ring. She checked the caller and shut it off with a hiss.

The place she had made reservations.

Why did they keep on calling her? She had sent them a text already. She was single and had no damn boyfriend anymore.

Hot tears streamed down her face.

She chuckled and downed another glass of her drink.

"Miss? Are you okay? You should go home." The bar woman came and gathered the empty bottles.

"No no... get me another bottle. I have only just begun," Scarlett slurred and giggled.

"But first, I must go to the bathroom. Ma'am, where is the restroom please..."

The bar woman shook her head pitifully and pointed towards the restroom.

Scarlett heard a gasp and tilted her head to her right.

A girl was making out with her boyfriend. Jealousy stirred inside of her.

It could have been her and Noah but there she was drunk in both her own tears and some throat burning alcohol.

Her heart crushed. The more she watched them, the more her heart ached.

With the urge to use the rest totally gone, she stood up, swaying a bit before she started out of the bar. There was no way she could stop the tears flowing down. She didn't have to feel that way. He was never her mate to begin with. But she couldn't help herself.

She had loved him more than half of her entire life. More than she had ever loved anyone.

**********************

Scarlett paused at the gate of Harrow club. Something painful tugged at her chest. Another slip of tears. She forced back the mucus trying to drip.

It was only children of the prominent men of the Pack that frequented Harrow club. People of lower class were lifted onto the shoulders of the hefty club guards and flung out.

She stopped and despite herself, she scoffed. That night she was going to step into Harrow club no matter what.

This club where Noah had frequented without her. She had only been here a few times when Noah managed to smuggle her in. But once she was in, she regretted it. They felt dirty being in the same club with the daughter of an Omega with a low position.

But Noah fought for her. He spoke on her behalf. Only that Scarlett got tired of having Noah defend her all the time and stopped sneaking in.

Was it where Noah had met Rose?

She gave her head a little shake. She wasn't there to brood about Noah. She had come to have fun. On her own as a freshly single lady. Then she began to saunter forward.

"Who are you?" One of the two hefty guards mounted at the gate queried with unfriendly eyes.

"Me? I am..." a wobble and a chuckle. "It's alright, I'm fine. I'm not drunk yet. I just...had a few bottles back there," her words slurred.

The guard's features hardened. He regarded Scarlett briefly with unfriendly eyes and finally signalled to the other one to take her away.

As if Scarlett heard him, she drew back.

"Don't come near me. I am not leaving here. I am here to dance and drink and make merry in the almighty Harrow club!"

"Get her out of this place!" the first guard barked.

The other one came and grabbed Scarlett...

"Put the lady down." A voice ordered behind them.

The guards stopped. Scarlett looked to see who dared speak for her. A broad shouldered man with a strikingly handsome face walked up to them. Scarlett tried to think if she knew him.

"And who are you..." the head guard questioned, glaring at the tall man.

"I said put her down this instant," the tall man repeated. His voice was commanding and prominent.

The guards scanned him wondering who dared order them. Suddenly, they fell on their knees.

"Shhhhhhh!" the tall man stopped them before they could make another sound.

Scarlett frowned in confusion. Even Noah as the son of the Alpha was never bowed to in that manner. The guard quickly unhandled her.

She fumed and kicked his behind albeit weakly. She stood and pointed at the first guard. "How dare you! You unhand me just because he asked? You fear him but you don't fear me. Obnoxious men!" She staggered, turned and her eyes rested on the tall man. For a moment she starred, lashes fluttering. Chiselled jawline and piercing intense blue eyes stared at her.

Quickly realising herself, she chirped and tried to step backwards but stumbled instead and missed her balance. Tall man was swift and quick to grab her, stopping her from falling.

Scarlett's heart skipped a beat. For a split moment she found herself lost in the blue eyes that stared warmly down at her.

She hastily pulled away, managing to steady her stance.

The tall man proceeded into the club.

"Are you coming in or do you want the guards bothering you?" He stopped to ask.

Scarlett regarded him. His voice was authoritative and his blue eyes primal.

Her gaze swung down his body. He wasn't just tall but muscularly built and well defined. He exuded a powerful aura and strength. Mane dark tousled hair graced his head and he had this wild look that made Scarlet's inside tingle in a strange way.

Who was he?

"Yes... of course." She followed him, cutting the guards an eye.

"Why did you save me from the guards? Do you want to sleep with me?"

He halted abruptly. Scarlett nearly bumped into him.

Then he slowly turned around to face her. For a moment he scrutinised her.

Scarlett shifted on one foot. The good and bad of being tipsy. Speaking without thinking. She bit her lip. Could he already tell her boyfriend just broke up with her? Could he already tell she was the daughter of the Omega of the Pack, the weakest and lowest rank of the Pack... No, she couldn't let him see any of that.

She glanced up and he was still staring at her. She swallowed now uncomfortable with his stare.

"Well, I am grateful you helped me out there but I could have handled it. My guard had just gone to pick something from my car. Anyway, thanks for your help. I will get inside there and have some fun and spend some cash too because I got a lot of it...my father said I could spend as much money as I wanted..."

She rambled on. When she saw that nothing she said moved him, she stopped. Maybe she was being too obvious?

He rocked on his feet. His arms folded across his chest as he observed her.

"You have probably been to this club a few times in your life and that is because you were likely smuggled in. You have no friends and you are here alone, obviously. By any chance...did your boyfriend break up with you today or something?"

"Stop...who are you? Who are you?"

Scarlett's eyes bulged and all the hairs on her body stood. Who the heck was this man?

He stepped closer to her. She stumbled back but maintained her glare at him. He leaned closer, tilting slightly towards her ears and whispered.

"You are very beautiful and even if your boyfriend really did break up with you today, you please my eyes. Whatcha say? Let's have some fun. Drinks on me."

Chapter 3 One night stand

"You are very beautiful and even if your boyfriend really did break up with you today, you please my eyes. What do you say? Let's have some fun. Drinks on me."

A hiccup left Scarlet. She blinked. Before she could get a chance to refuse the strange yet tempting offer, the strange man was already walking into the club. She snapped back and after him, she ran. True, she could use some drinks.

Her steps quickened as she tried to match his long stride.

"Who are you and what is your name?" She asked again.

He didn't stop nor said any word until they were inside the club.

"Fuvk out of the way bitch!" A completely wasted guy barked at Scarlett as he growled past her.

Tall man pulled her out of the way.

"This way. You don't want them squeezing you in here," he guided her out of the people packed hall towards a slightly wide and long corridor.

A drunk man poked his head out of one of the rooms and began to puke.

Tall man lifted his palm and covered her eyes, stopping her from seeing the content of the vomit.

They walked for close to a minute and finally stopped in front of a door. Scarlett watched as her companion easily pushed the door and stepped in.

"What is this place?" Scarlett's eyes danced as she hesitantly got in.

Noah had power and could get any room he wanted in Harrow club but Scarlett doubted he had ever been to a room as luxurious and exquisite as this one.

"Are you sobered up now?" He asked as he poured himself a drink in a glass.

Scarlett's eyes followed him.

"I am Scarlett. Who are you?"

He chugged down the entire content of the glass at a go. Poured a fresh drink in the glass and started back to the cushion.

Scarlett followed him. She sat at the cushion across from him, still watching him. Who was this man? Everything about him oozed perfection. He was wealthy, she didn't need to guess. But his eyes... wild, intense and... and desirable.

It didn't help that he had flung his coat away the moment they stepped into the room leaving his shirt strapped to his extremely muscled body. He looked like he rode horses for a living while commanding a host of armies. There was just something dangerous about him. Dangerous and yet desirable. And she was curious.

She gulped and tore her gaze away.

Don't be shameless Scarlett, you just broke up with your boyfriend. Have some fuvking decency and get a grip!

"Why wouldn't you tell me your name and why did you bring me here?"

"You can have as much fun as you want here. You won't be disturbed here."

"But there's no fun here. It's just us. What fun could we possibly have here all by ourselves?"

The words left her lips quickly but Scarlett regretted it the next instant.

He looked up, held her gaze. "We can make it fun," he smirked.

She held his gaze. But looked away quickly.

Huh...we?..."

He stood up.

"Why? Aren't you curious why I brought you here?"

Her heart skipped. Why hadn't she asked? She got up and darted to the wine table. "I should get a drink."

As she poured the drink, she noted from the corner of her eyes his tall figure approaching behind her. Her fingers faltered.

"What are you afraid of?"

She stopped pouring but didn't turn as she slowly lowered the bottle on the table.

"Is there anything to be afraid of?" Her voice was shaky.

"I could be a killer."

Her throat went dry. He could be a killer and she had foolishly followed him. What was wrong with her?

"So now you want to hurt me after bringing me in here?"

"You think I would?"

He came beside her and started to refill his glass. Perhaps it was her imagination but she felt his hand brush lightly against hers. Her heart suddenly started to pound fast. She couldn't grasp her glass. She heard him move from his position and stood behind her.

He bent towards her neck.

"Don't lie. You want me... don't you? Your body is craving for me but you are not obedient to ask. You want to hold it in but how long do you think you can do that..."

Her legs wobbled. She could feel his breath fan her neck sending her whole body tingling. She wanted him. How shameless of her.

"Just say the word... tell me you want me. Go on.. say it..." he whispered.

He stopped briefly and observed her for a second.

She looked so lovely. His heart did flips and he thought he heard his wolf make a sound.

But the sight before him pulled his attention.

"This is wrong..." she rasped as he began to part her legs. The mind resisted but Scarlett's legs had a mind of their own.

He delicately slided a finger into the well of inviting juice, feeling her moistness urging him on. He bit his lips and cussed under his breath. Her moans and beauty were driving him crazy.

She gasped and tightened her grip around his head.

Her hand found his zipper. She grasped his bulge.

He paused as his gaze found hers.

"I want this now...please..."

He smirked and stood. Pulled down his pants. Veiny shaft dangled out.

"Damn..." Scarlett groaned out a cuss. She wanted to feel the monstrous looking thing before her. But there wasn't time. She would rather it be inside her that instant.

He plunged into her after only a moment of tease in her lower region. A tease that nearly drove Scarlett crazy for a moment.

Hands tightly gripping around his neck, her head fell back as he drove into her, ramming and pounding.

In that moment nothing else came to mind. Not Noah and not her broken heart. Only the fine tall man before her and the bad yet nice things he was doing to her and the high heavens he was taking her to.

*********************************

A stir and a soft groan. Scarlett's eyes fluttered open. Her head ached almost immediately. For a moment, she wondered where she was and how she had gotten there. In an attempt to go down the memory lane, a grunt came beside her interrupting her thought.

She looked and next came her flinch.

With a rush, the memories flooded in

Shit!"

"Shit!"

What has she done! Her eyes darted across the room where her dress lay on the floor without any care.

"Damn!" She groaned once more, unable to believe herself. She was no better than girls of the pack after all. Opening her legs for a man she never knew. A total stranger.

But nothing happened if he never saw her face. All she had to do was leave before he awakened.

Propelling herself slowly, she pushed herself out of the bed. The figure beside her let out a soft snore causing her to halt. Her mind flew. She thought he had woken up but he hadn't. She muttered a small sigh in relief and continued her way out.

She grabbed her dress and others and slid into them.

Quietly she pulled the doorknob and stepped out momentarily wondering how it was possible for an almost proper apartment to exist in a club.

But that was the least of her problems as she hurried out. Luckily she successfully made her way out of the club.

All through her walk back home, Scarlett tried not to think about the night, the unknown man she had given herself to and Noah.

She hated to admit she enjoyed every bit of what had gone down with the unknown man. But she chose to dump the memory and every thought of it back there.

"It never happened... I never went to Harrow club and I never met any tall man." She told herself repeatedly.

But who was she trying to fool? Every part of her body would probably remind her of it for how long.

The moment she stepped into the house, irritation crept into her.

"Where are you coming from Scarlett?" Her father asked, stopping to sharpen his arrow.

Scarlett came to a standstill, anger surged through her. It was all his Father's fault Noah ended things with her. He was a disappointment. He shamed her and made her a laughing stock in the Pack. All he did was sharpen arrows all the time. His wolf was as useless as his human.

"Nowhere," she answered curtly. She tried to keep off the annoyance from her tone but failed.

Mr Davis remained calm. He gently lowered his glistening arrow. "I made some breakfast. You should have some. It's your favourite."

Scarlett bit her lips to stop herself from hissing.

"I'm not hungry," she finally said and marched into the house.
