Chapter 1 MEMORIES

Mia's POV

I ran.

I felt like a bird set free, soaring through the evening sky. The cool night breeze touched my skin, cooling the sweat on my forehead.

My feet smacked against the pavement as I dashed ahead, and my arms swung back and forth in sync with my stride.

I had my AirPods in, blasting an awesome song into my ears. My heart thumped hard in my chest as I picked up the pace, pumped up by the music.

Underneath the moonlight sky, I took a detour in the quiet street. Then, something caught my eye as I turned onto another street. I spotted a couple under a willow tree, totally wrapped up in each other. They were hugging and kissing, lost in their little world.

It was a magical scene, and it made me think about love and connection.

I continued my run, momentarily captivated by the tender moment unfolding before me. It reminded me of a time when I had shared a similar connection with someone-a connection that had once held the promise of forever.

But those memories were now tainted with heartache and betrayal.

"Lucas!" I exclaimed, my voice tinged with annoyance.

He let out a deep chuckle, his eyes sparkling mischievously. "What is it, darling?"

I crossed my arms in frustration, a pout forming on my lips. "Did you have to spill the beans to my mother?"

"Come on, Mimi," he said, using his endearing nickname for me. "She had to find out sooner or later."

I huffed, the frustration still evident on my face. "But she didn't have to know that you're my boyfriend when I hadn't even finished doing the dishes. Now I'll have to go home with a mountain of chores waiting for me."

Lucas's smile widened, his teenage vibrance shining through. Standing tall and confident, he exuded a captivating charm. His striking dark hair seemed to effortlessly catch the sunlight, it cascaded in waves, creating a magnetic aura around him. His unique eyes, a mesmerizing shade of amber with flecks of golden hues, held a captivating depth that drew me in every time we locked gazes.

At six feet tall, Lucas had an imposing presence that commanded attention. His muscular frame was the result of years of training and his alpha status within the pack.

But despite his strength, he always carried himself with a gentle grace, a reminder of the tenderness and love he had for those close to him.

As I gazed at him, I couldn't help but be captivated by the way his eyes sparkled, reflecting the warmth of the sun.

His high cheekbones accentuated his features, adding a touch of ruggedness to his overall handsome appearance. Lucas was a walking contradiction, exuding both strength and vulnerability in equal measure, making it impossible for anyone not to be drawn to him.

And I can't believe he is all mine.

As the warm sun bathed the picturesque meadow, Lucas's mischievous grin hinted at a playful secret he seemed eager to share. The vibrant colors of wildflowers painted a tapestry at our feet, swaying gently in the cool breeze. I couldn't help but feel a mix of curiosity and apprehension as I looked into his eyes, waiting for an explanation.

"I would be glad to help you, love, no qualms about that," he began, his voice carrying an air of excitement. "Now that your mother knows of us... we can take this to the next level." He wiggled his eyebrows, a mischievous spark dancing in his eyes.

Caught off guard by his words, I furrowed my brow, trying to decipher his meaning. "What do you mean?" I asked, my voice betraying a mix of confusion and curiosity.

A mischievous grin played on his lips as he leaned in closer. "You know what I mean... you and I... sheets," he whispered, his tone teasing and suggestive.

Then, with a playful wink, he stepped back, leaving me blushing fiercely at the implications of his words.

Embarrassment washed over me as I realized what he said and I couldn't help but react with a light smack on his arm.

"Lucas!" I exclaimed, my cheeks flaming as I realized he had boldly spoken those words aloud, unabashed by our surroundings. I quickly looked around to see if there were anyone but surprisingly none.

His laughter filled the meadow and carried on the wings of the wind. Its melodic notes danced around us, blending harmoniously with the rustling grass and the gentle chorus of birds overhead. The scene seemed almost ethereal, as if time had paused to capture this playful exchange between us.

I took a deep breath, the fresh scent of grass and wildflowers filling my lungs, momentarily distracting me from my embarrassment. The cool wind brushed against my skin, offering a soothing embrace amidst the warmth of the sun's rays.

Still, at that moment I could imagine what it felt like to be in his arms. For his warm body to lay on top of mine. For him to touch me, hold me. Teach me the ways of a woman.

I opened my eyes and looked at him.

As I gazed at Lucas, his eyes sparkling with mirth, I couldn't help but smile."I know I am irresistible, but damn, girl, the way you're looking at me, it's like I'm a treasure waiting to be claimed," he teased, a mischievous grin playing on his lips.

Unable to resist his charm, I leaned in, my lips brushing against his cheek. Slowly, I moved my face, my warm breath tickling his earlobe as I whispered, my voice dripping with desire, "You, my darling, are a priceless gem. A prize I yearn to possess, to unravel from its delicate bindings and explore in the depths of my passion."

With a flicker of anticipation in his eyes, I delicately nipped at his earlobe with my teeth, feeling his sharp intake of breath reverberate through me. As I leaned back, our gazes locked, I could sense the smoldering fire igniting within him, the image of him ravishing me consuming his thoughts.

Driven by our mutual desire, he wasted no time. Closing the gap between us, his lips pressed forcefully against mine, the heat between us intensifying. Our mouths danced in a sensual symphony, a tantalizing exchange of fervent kisses that left us breathless and hungry for more. Each touch, each caress, exuded a sensuality that ignited a passionate fire, engulfing us in a whirlwind of desire.

I could feel a surge of electricity coursing through our bodies, igniting a blazing inferno of raw desire. Time stood still as our mouths moved in perfect synchrony, a dance of tongues and hungry lips, a symphony of pleasure that transcended the physical realm.

His kiss was a potent elixir, intoxicating and addictive. With each passionate connection, the heat between us escalated, consuming us in a fiery embrace. Our tongues intertwined, exploring the depths of passion and surrender, as our breaths melded into a harmonious rhythm.

The world around us faded into insignificance, eclipsed by the intensity of our connection. His hands, confident and exploratory, roamed my body with purpose, tracing the contours of my curves with a feather-light touch that sent shivers cascading down my spine.

Each stroke, each caress, whispered promises of untamed pleasure and unleashed the primal desires that pulsed within us.

In this maelstrom of sensuality, time lost all meaning. The boundaries between us blurred, melding our bodies and souls into one.

Our hungry lips devoured one another, seeking solace in the depths of our longing. The weight of his desire pressed against me, an undeniable force that left me breathless and yearning for more.

Lost in the tempest of our passion, we surrendered to the tempestuous whirlwind that consumed us. The flames of desire danced and flickered, casting an enchanting glow upon our entangled forms.

Pleasure surged through our veins like a torrential river, crashing against the dams of inhibition, setting free the primal, untamed ardor within.

His lips left mine and went to my neck, sucking, kissing, and ravishing me.

"Oh...Lucas..." I tried to say between breaths. "We are in public...Lucas, people might be watching"

He growled against my neck. "They can go fuck themselves"

I couldn't help but laugh.

In our teenage years, young and happy without our wolf yet to come out. We were in love, I was learning the basics to be his beta and wife of the pack and he was preparing to become alpha.

But that all changed. I could still remember the day as if it was yesterday.

I walked down the street with happiness in my heart. It had just rained so the ground was wet. I didn't like it but I didn't let it ruin my morning. As I rushed towards our usual spot in a cafe with good news.

But as I stepped in to see him, his face held a gloomy expression that made me wonder.

I stepped closer to kiss him but he raised his hand obstructing me from doing so.

I frowned, sitting opposite him. "Well, this is different. What's wrong?" I asked, confused and feeling nothing but care for him.

He took in a deep breath, his jaw clenched. His hands folded into a fist. He kept quiet.

"It's okay you can take your time," I said.

It was so unlike him that day. I wondered if I had done something wrong. I wondered if it was the pressure of him taking over his father's position as alpha.

But I should have known. I should have known when I walked in. I should have known when he raised his head with a stoic face and an emotionless gaze.

I should have known that was the end of us. But I didn't. Not until he opened his mouth and said.

"Mia," He called me by my full name. He never does that. "I am now going to take the position of my father as you already know...Our plans have changed. I apologize Mia...but I now have to marry the daughter of the beta of my pack"

Those words came like lightning straight to my heart. My brain shut down. I couldn't react. I just watched as he stood up from his table and walked out of the door never looking back.

I felt a pang in my chest as I choked on tears. Ten years together and it ended today.

From strangers to friends to lovers and back to strangers.

I rested my head on the table of our favorite booth and I shuddered. Tears rolled down my cheeks and fell on my lap. My coat could not stop the shivering that came. The pain I felt.

He didn't even give me a chance to speak. To tell him about the good news that we now shared.

About the life beating in my stomach...about our child.

****

Present

I wiped the tears aggressively from my face.

Remembering it did me no good. Girls don't cry.

Throughout the years, I had left the pack. Came into the human world and I have been doing fine on my own. I have my amazing triplets and a nice life. Nothing could break this.

A call came through. Distracting me from my thoughts. I looked at the call name, it was from the nanny. I wondered if she wanted to ask where the chocolate was again. I chuckled.

I picked it up as I turned on my feet to go back home.

"Hello, May..."

"Madam!" a sense of urgency in her voice as she breathed frantically.

"Please...please come home...the triplets ...they are taking them...help!!!!"

Chapter 2 Lost

Panic gripped me, squeezing my chest with an iron grip, rendering me breathless.

Each second felt like an eternity as my mind screamed a single word over and over again: "Kids!"

Something unimaginable was unfolding, a sinister force threatening to snatch away the most precious beings in my life.

Every step I took echoed with desperation and fear. Adrenaline coursed through my veins, lending me an unnatural speed as I sprinted through the chaotic city streets.

Pedestrians blurred into a frenzied frenzy of color, the cacophony of their voices blending into an indistinguishable symphony of chaos. But amidst the commotion, my thoughts remain laser-focused on my beloved children, their innocence now in peril.

Frantically, I thrust my hands into the air, desperately seeking the attention of a passing taxi.

Yet, as if mocking my anguish, each cab zoomed past, indifferent to my desperate pleas. The world seemed to conspire against me, casting a shadow of hopelessness over my frantic attempts to reach my little ones.

Tears welled in my eyes, blurring my vision, but I dared not stop. The darkness that threatened to consume my soul was far more terrifying than any physical pain I could endure.

Time distorted, elongating with each heartbeat, as if toying with my torment, pushing me to the brink of insanity.

Every fiber of my being yearned for a miracle, for a break in the storm that threatened to tear my world asunder.

My legs burned with an intensity that matched the fire raging in my heart. The city's pulse throbbed in rhythm with my own, a pulsating drumbeat that reverberated through the labyrinth of towering buildings.

But still, the taxi eluded me, leaving me to confront the agonizing truth-I was running out of time.

The walls of reality closed in, compressing my chest and squeezing the breath from my lungs. The deafening silence that followed my futile attempts to summon salvation was suffocating, amplifying the horrors that awaited if I failed to reach my children in time.

And so, driven by an unyielding determination, I decided to do something I had not done in ages.

I moved into the woods, wasting no time. I shifted.

My wolf form sprouted out. Ripping my clothes and I ran.

The race was of a mother worried about her pups.

It didn't take long when I arrived at my home.

I shifted back into my human form. Standing stark naked but I didn't care.

The door of my house was broken at its hinges.

I pushed into my home, the ground was stained with blood, grass, and dirt.

Sniffing the air to see if I could perceive my children but their scent was gone. What remained was that of blood.

I turned on my feet and headed toward where the smell was more intense.

And there laid the nanny. Cut open by claws that could only belong to that of a mystical being.

A werewolf to be precise.

I turned away from the scene and moved to my children's room.

Their beds were empty. The three of them. My triplets.

I walked towards the bed and held onto their toys and cried.

I knew this was going to happen. I thought I was just paranoid but I knew it.

This is what happens when the goddess thinks she is giving you a gift but it's just a curse. My triplets were blessed with elemental powers.

Karen was blessed with fire, Olivia was blessed with air and Noah ended up with earth. They could manipulate nature and I found out when they turned three.

After Karen had mistakenly turned her bed to ashes.

I chuckled at the memory. She was scared then and I was terrified.

I felt it. That someone was going to use these powers one day. Someone was going to catch up to me and see the secret I am trying to hide deeply.

Zzzzz

The home phone beside the bed vibrated.

I did not want to pick it but I did anyway.

"Hello..." I stammered, my voice barely above a whisper, as I clutched the phone tightly in my trembling hand.

"Oh my, Mia, are you okay?" Olivia's voice crackled through the receiver, laced with concern. Her words pierced through the heavy air, sending a chill down my spine. "I got a signal recently that a werewolf had entered human territory, and I just wanted to inform you. I have been trying to reach you on your line, but could not go through."

A heavy sigh escaped my quivering lips, mingling with the sobs that threatened to consume me whole. "Liv... my kids... they are gone," I managed to choke out, the words laced with anguish, as tears streamed down my face once again. The magnitude of the loss crashed over me like a relentless wave, eroding any semblance of hope that had clung desperately to the fringes of my shattered reality.

Silence hung in the air, pregnant with the weight of Olivia's disbelief, as if even she struggled to fathom the depth of the devastation that had befallen our lives.

Time stood still, an eternity compressed into mere seconds, before her voice finally broke the silence, a glimmer of determination slicing through the suffocating darkness.

"Hold up, I am coming," Olivia declared, her voice laced with worry as she hung up.

The words echoed in my ears, a lifeline thrown to me amid a relentless storm. At that moment, a flicker of hope ignited within me, fragile yet persistent, as I clung desperately to the possibility of salvation.

Every nerve in my body tingled with a heightened sense of urgency. Time seemed to warp, stretching into a distorted tapestry of dread and uncertainty.

My mind raced with harrowing possibilities, conjuring images of my children in the clutches of a merciless predator, their innocence threatened by the nightmarish existence that had infiltrated our lives.

With a heart burdened by a primal instinct to protect, I braced myself for the impending arrival of Olivia.

The seconds ticked by agonizingly. I moved around the house looking around for clues. I had wrapped myself with a robe, too sad to even care about what I wore.

I looked around the home. More claw marks. Ashes, ice, uneven earth. It was seen that my children, even at the age of six, had been smart enough to try to protect themselves and their nanny.

The person was gruesome enough to kill the nanny.

Why would someone do this? The trauma that the kids would go through, the nanny that was now dead broke my heart into pieces.

I heard footsteps. I quickly turned to see it was just Olivia.

She spread her hands wide open and I rushed into her arms hugging her.

"It's going to be okay. We will find them," Olivia whispered soothingly into my ear, her voice barely audible amidst the turmoil that engulfed us. Her gentle touch on my head offered a faint glimmer of solace, a gesture of unwavering support in the face of unthinkable tragedy.

Olivia and I had been friends since childhood, our bond forged in the fire of shared experiences and unyielding loyalty.

She had been the one to encourage my decision to venture into the human world, having made that daring choice herself after the untimely demise of her parents. With her unwavering support and guidance, I had managed to carve out a new life, a semblance of normalcy amidst the chaos.

"It was a werewolf," I finally managed to utter, my voice tinged with both fear and a desperate need for understanding.

We sat together on the patio, bathed in the ethereal glow of moonlight, our faces etched with a potent mix of grief and determination. The air hung heavy with sadness and tension, the weight of our collective sorrow palpable. Yet, even amid our anguish, the crickets chirped their melancholic melody, a reminder that life carried on, even in the darkest of times.

The words hung in the air, suspended between us like a heavy fog. The revelation unleashed a floodgate of emotions, memories of the encounter searing through my mind like a vicious flame.

Olivia's expression darkened, her eyes narrowing as she processed the magnitude of the revelation. The realization that our peaceful existence had been invaded by one of our kind sent shivers coursing through our spines.

The lines between safety and danger blurred, and the fragility of the life we had built in the human world became painfully evident.

The night enveloped us in its melancholic embrace, amplifying the weight of our shared grief.

"They know then," Olivia said, clenching her hands into a fist.

Olivia was like a big aunt to the kids. Like a second mum.

"I...I don't know where to start. This is not something we can do on our own"

I let out an exasperated sigh. "He was strong. Brutal and cruel. I just hope my kids are safe. He knew about my kid's power. The question is...how did he know?"

"I am confused, to say the least, what's the way forward now?" She said.

"I...I don't know" I said, tears filling my eyes once again.

"Well I do...we can't do this alone. You know that yourself. How long are you going to keep it away from him?"

I crossed my arms around my chest, biting my lips in nervousness. I stared into the darkness, my mind in a twirl.

I thought about seeing him again. About him finding out that he had kids. His reaction. How is he? Has he grown? Is he married now?

"I don't want him to find out. I don't want him ever to know of their existence"

"What?" Olivia asked in a high tone. Almost shouting, her voice sharp within the night. "Mia...you can't intend..."

"That's what my mind told me..." I interrupted. I stood up from my chair, pushing it back from me and I added. "Tonight we leave for the Silverwood pack. It's time to visit Lucas"

Chapter 3 I am Pregnant!

We ran for two days straight, our bodies driven by sheer determination and adrenaline.

With each passing mile, our fatigue grew, and our hunger gnawed at us relentlessly. Despite the physical and mental challenges, we remained resolute, pushing ourselves forward with a strength that surpassed our weakened states.

By the time we paused to catch our breath, the toll of our journey was evident on both Olivia and me.

Olivia, having changed into a fresh outfit, stood beside me, her once vibrant green eyes now dulled by exhaustion, surrounded by dark circles that bore witness to sleepless nights.

Her fiery red hair was hastily tied up in a high ponytail, the strands slightly disheveled from the relentless wind. Her hands, tucked into the front pockets of her worn jeans, clenched slightly, a subtle reflection of the determination that fueled her every step.

Comparing myself to Olivia, I couldn't help but feel a pang of self-consciousness. My reflection in her eyes revealed a different story. Puffy and tired, my eyes struggled to stay open, while my nose, reddened by the harsh elementsaddinged a touch of discomfort to my already worn appearance.

My normally fair skin, lacking its usual healthy glow, seemed even paler against the backdrop of exhaustion. As if to echo my hunger, my stomach let out an audible growl, a reminder of the sustenance it so desperately craved.

My lips, chapped and cracked, bore witness to the arduous journey, while my dark, short hair clung to the sweat on my forehead, a testament to the physical exertion we had endured.

We stood above the pack staring down at the people moving about daily. Some in their wolf form. Laughing and having fun.

"Are you ready?" Olivia asked.

I nodded and stepped into the town, determined to remain strong despite the judgmental atmosphere.

Walking with my head held high and my gaze fixed forward, I chose to ignore the stares and the spiteful whispers that followed me.

The voices of the pack people carried on, their words cutting through the air like shards of glass. "Hey, isn't that the girl who dated the alpha?" one voice sneered.

"What's she doing here? I thought she renounced being a wolf and went to mingle with those filthy humans," another voice jeered.

The cruelty in their words was palpable, and it felt as though their gazes were drilling into my back, trying to break my resolve.

In an act of sheer audacity, one person even spat at my foot, a blatant display of contempt. But I refused to let their actions weaken me. I held my composure, refusing to react or let their toxic behavior tarnish my spirit.

I knew for sure their whispers would not define me; their taunts would not deter me. I just wanted to find my kids, that's all that matters even if it meant facing the harsh judgments of the pack for the choice that I made.

With every step, I grew closer to my impending doom. The door to the pack house. Where I know he would be.

The pack warriors who stood by the pack house quickly moved to block my entrance.

They were shirtless like every warrior should be. For easy transformation to their wolf form. Their face was emotionless as they stared ahead, not looking at me in the eye.

"We can't let you in," One with dark hair said.

I frowned. "Why?"

The other with a scar across his face replied. "This is the Alpha's residence. We can't let a non-pack member bring herself into it"

Well, this was embarrassing.

Olivia who stood beside me walked forward, arms crossed around her chest.

"Don't act like you don't know us. We have issues that matter to your alpha. Even if you won't let us in, please do inform him that Mia Thompson would like to see him. I am sure he would grant us an audience"

The scar-faced man gave us a once-over before turning on his feet and leaving.

Olivia stepped back and placed a hand on my shoulder. Patting me.

It didn't take long before the door was opened by the dark-haired guy and we were allowed in.

I wasted no time, as I rushed towards the office he would be in.

I didn't miss him. It wasn't because I wanted to see how he had grown or anything like that. It's for the kids. The kids alone. That's what I tried to tell myself.

As I pushed the door open, to the Alpha's office, I stopped at my footsteps.

My heart fell into a pit.

I should have waited, not just barged in like a wild animal.

Because in that room was his family, I recognized his mother, his father, two strange couples, and a gorgeous girl seated by Lucas' side with her hand on his shoulder.

In the midst of his all there he was. Seated in the middle of them all was him. His hair is darker and a bit longer. Half of it was tied at the back with strands falling on his forehead. He looked manly. More muscular. More like an alpha, not a boy that she had fallen in love with as a child. His amber-colored eyes watched me, there was no surprise in them nor was there recognition.

Stoic, one could say. He had a dominating presence that wasn't there when he was younger.

I bowed my head in respect, clenching my hands together.

"I apologize for the way I had barged in," I said.

I heard a scoff, from Lucas's mother, I could recognize that sound anywhere. She had done that a lot to me.

"Is that what you were taught in the human world? To be this disrespectful" She said, with a tsk.

"I am sorry I shouldn't have. If you want me to leave I would"

"Well, you are already here, so you might as well get in with it."

I heard him say. My heart clenched as I heard his voice. Deeper. Oh, God. I should stop myself from feeling tingles and concentrate on the task at hand.

I tried to wait to see if they would at least give him privacy but they remained in the room like bees sucked to their queen.

"I need your help, Alpha," I said.

I heard his mother scoff again. She doesn't get tired of doing that. "And why should we help you? You are not even among the pack, just an outcast, ..."

"Mother," Lucas growled as a warning. Shutting his mother up. He then turned to me and added. "Help for what?"

I steeled myself and looked up. Looked into his amber eyes and said, "My children. They are in danger." And that was when I saw it. A flicker of emotions within his eyes but then he disappeared.

"Why should I help you? You are not a member of my pack. Your kids are not a member of my pack, so why should I help you?"

I clenched my fist trying to keep the anger building from his lack of care. "It's because it was a werewolf who did it. They were claw marks. The nanny was killed and my children were taken"

He leaned back against his chair, watching me. "And why were your children taken?"

"I do not know for now." I made sure I would conceal that they had powers. To prevent more enemies that may want to leech off them and hurt my kids.

"I assume the father of your children is a werewolf then, am I right?" I nodded. "Why didn't you take it up with their father then?

"I am already taking it up with their father," I said.

He raised an eyebrow. "And no reply from him?"

"I am still awaiting your reply. Then I would know where else to go from here."

Silence ensued. As silent realization kicked into their minds. Lucas' eyes widened as he sat up in his seat watching me. I could see the questions swirling in his eyes. There was also doubt. He had always been expressive with his eyes with me. While he tried to keep an expressionless face, his eyes held his emotions.

The silence was broken by the dainty girl, who looked like a wannabe mean girl. She stood up, placing her hands on the table.

She gave me a nice smile as she spoke. "I am Amelia Donovan, you probably don't know me but I am Alpha Lucas Fianceé and it's a bit weird for me to sit and watch an unknown woman come in here and claim to have children that belong to him...it's impossible," She said with disbelief.

"I understand that it may be very doubtful but me and Lu- the alpha used to be...very close in the past and I had just found out he was getting married. I was not able to let him know that I was pregnant." As I said each word, I looked at him and he me.

I could see the recognition in his eyes. He believed me. Because he too remembered that day.

"That's not very convincing. You say kids, meaning they are more than one...were you having an affair with him throughout the years or what?" The wannabe mean girl said.

"They are triplets" They gasped, I continued "As my kids are not here I cannot use a DNA test. But I do have a picture. One of them, Noah, has the Alpha's eyes...he is like a little copy of the Alpha"

There were now whispers in the room. Lucas crossed his arms, still keeping his expression. He the. Said in an authoritative voice. "Everyone leaves"

They didn't hesitate before leaving, except the wannabe bitch girl that still stood there looking at me with hatred and annoyance.

"And why aren't you leaving?" Lucas asked her.

Amelia crossed her arms. "I stay. End of story"

Lucas then stood up. "Very well, you can stay in the room," He said walking towards me. Looking like an Adonis god.

Amelia gasped. "Lucas. You can't do this. You aren't considering helping her, are you?"

Lucas didn't answer. He gave me a slight nod to leave the room.

"You can't leave. You can't help her. I am already in a position as it is"

Lucas stopped and looked at her. "What are you babbling about?"

It seemed that this was a common argument between them and it seems that Lucas has already resigned arguing with her. I couldn't help but wonder ..why exactly is he still with her.

Amelia now walked closer to Lucas. A smile on her lips. Different from the character she once held just now.

She now stood before us and took Lucas's hand and placed it on her stomach.

"You can't leave...because I am pregnant"
