Blair's POV
My world crumbled as the sound of muffled voices and soft laughter seeped through the wooden door.
My heart raced like a horse in a haste, as I heard the sounds of these seemingly muffled voices.
My fears were seemingly coming to reality.
I then planted my ears against the wooden door as I tried to understand what was going on inside the room.
"Jayce," a woman's voice, sweet and laced with affection, whispered. "I love you."
Jayce's response was a low chuckle, followed by a tender murmur. My breath hitched in my throat.
It was Anabelle, my own blood sister, the woman who had always been the sun around which Jayce's world revolved. She abandoned me to follow other hot guys and basically I was an orphan.
Now that Jayce became an alpha she came back to seduce him.
A feeling of bitterness washed over Me.
Today was our anniversary, a day I had anticipated with a mixture of hope and happiness.
I had prepared a gift, a small envelope holding a secret that could potentially change everything. It was a secret I had been longing to share, a secret that I hoped would finally ignite a spark of love in Jayce's cold eyes.
But now, as I stood outside their bedroom door, the reality of their loveless marriage crashed over me.
Jayce had always been distant, hard, and emotionally unavailable.
His love for me never existed.
Tears escaped my eyes as my heart was shattered into a million pieces, Jayce was a hard hearted person.
I was pregnant, carrying Jayce's child, a symbol of our mateship, yet I felt more alone than ever.
My fingers traced the outline of the door and I made a desperate attempt to leave and forgive him for what I heard.
The wood was cold and hard, and that was not what I needed at the time.
My vision blurred with tears as I replayed the words she had overheard.
"I will marry you, Jayce. I love you," Anabelle had said, her voice filled with a joy I had never known.
Jayce's laughter, a sound I rarely heard, was like a dagger piercing my heart. He had found love, a love that he had kept away from me for years.
My hands trembled as fear gripped me tightly and my hands traced the door, as I tried to summon the courage to face the beasts that reside within.
'Life has revealed it's deadly blade at me and I may face it's willing slash.' I thought with sadness in her heart.
I heaved a sigh and opened the door as the air of realization hit me hard.
As I opened the door,I saw Jayce and Anabelle, their reaction was rather one of surprise and a stern gaze of anger.
Annabelle's anger was evident on her face as she stared at Me
"What the hell do you want Blair?" She spat in anger.
It didn't take long before fear hit me like a moving train.
"I...I... He.. heard.. something.." I struggled to speak.
Jayce stepped forward, his face was as hard as stone.
"Why are you here Blair?" He asked me in anger.
Tears ran down my cheek as the husband I once loved was now, a complete stranger before my eyes.
He was now a stranger with an icy tone and a bold defence for his wrongdoings.
My voice trembled as I forced the words out,
"I heard everything." My eyes, swollen and red, met Jayce's cold gaze. I felt a surge of anger, a fire igniting within me. How could he be so heartless? So cruel?
Annabelle, sensing an opportunity to humiliate me, smirked. "Oh, so you've been eavesdropping? How pathetic."
I ignored her, my focus solely on Jayce. "You're going to marry her? On our anniversary?" The words tasted like ashes in her mouth.
Jayce's expression remained stiff, as if he were discussing the weather. "Correct," he replied, his voice was very dry. "I never loved you, Blair. You were a convenient replacement."
I felt completely hopeless and pain permeated into my soul.
My hope was gone in our union leaving hopeless and graceless.
"You were my Luna, a title you never deserved," Jayce continued, his voice laced with contempt. "You were a pawn in my father's game."
It was over for me as I felt that the man before me never actually loved me.
I looked into his eyes and heaved a sigh as I held up the envelope as my fingers trembled. "I'm pregnant."
The room fell silent. Jayce's eyes widened in shock, while my face molded into a mask of anger.
"You're lying," Anabelle spat, her voice shrill.
I shook my head. "I'm not. This is the result of the night you made me a woman."
Jayce's gaze shifted between me and the envelope, his face mixed with different emotions. Desire, fear, and anger was within him.
"Lies!" He hollered at me.
"Oh is that so?" I asked him.
"Why don't you check it yourself?" I asked as I handed the envelope to him.
My sister looked at me with deep seated anger and took the envelope from me, only to have her mind blown away.
"It's true!" She uttered in shock.
It didn't take long before my now cheating husband snatched the envelope my hands. His hands shook as he read the report. A silent war raged within him
He wanted this child to be a part of his life, but he also wanted Anabelle. He had to choose.
He was now in a snare of his own creation.
"You think you can hold me down with a child?" He hollered with anger.
It didn't take long before he gripped my tender throat.
Fear gripped me as I couldn't look at him in the face and his iron grip on my throat was too strong.
"No... . I...c.. can't." I managed to utter as he squeezed my throat.
Jayce's grip tightened, and I felt a sharp pain in my chest. My vision blurred as I fought to stay conscious.
"Push the stupid girl down the stairs. Let her go down so we can be together without always having to hide," Anabelle said to Jayce.
"If I push her down and she dies now, do you not think they will investigate me? And I do not want that," Jayce replied Anabelle with evil in his voice.
"Push her down! My father is an alpha too, I will back you up, do not be scared," Anabelle continued to add, giving Jayce confidence.
"No! I cannot do that but I know what to do."
"Okay, so what's the plan? What do you want to do?" Anabelle asked Jayce curiously.
"If I cannot take her down, I will kill that rubbish she has in her belly," Jayce said with contempt in his voice.
"Good!"
Before I knew it someone or something hit me on the floor with force.
I could hear Anabelle laughing, but the sound seemed distant and muffled.
Then everything went black...
Blair's POV
There was a very strong smell of hospital medication that came into my nose. It was irritating. I shook my head to chase the scent away but it still came. Due to frustration, I opened my eyes.
I saw myself as I was looking at walls that were not familiar to the ones I was used to. "Where could this be?" I asked myself as I looked around. Something was making noise. I looked around and saw a drip on me. I was attached to it with a life support machine.
"I'm in the hospital," I slowly said as I forced myself to sit up. Then the doctor opened the door and came in.
"Blair, thank goodness you are awake. I hope you are now better?" She asked and walked up to me.
"Doctor Keri," I said to her, happy to recognise her. She was our pack's doctor. She was the one that tested and told me about my pregnancy. She placed the back of her hand over my neck and asked me to lay down and sleep for sometime.
"You fell very hard and lost a lot of blood in the process. You'll be okay, you need some rest," the doctor suggested and I relaxed back when I heard what she said about me losing blood and I suddenly asked about the baby in my belly.
"Is it okay?"
Doctor Keri stared at me and was quiet. Her expression on her face scared me and she said with sadness in her face, "I'm sorry, Blair, we could not save the baby."
"What! I hope this is a lie,"I screamed and my heart was already beating.
She had to sit me down and tell me how the hard fall cause a miscarriage that killed the baby immediately.
"I know it's heartbreaking to you, Blair, even though your husband was shocked at this news, he left in sadness. I am sorry," she apologized to me while patting my back.
When the doctor said Jayce's name, my mind flashed back to the scene where I fell and I remembered his face and he was smiling. He looked very happy.
I held the wall and used the other hand to rub my belly, as I tried to feel the spot where my baby always kicked. That was all the hope I had, now it had gone, all gone. My lips were shaking and my eyes started to fill with tears.
Doctor Keri tried to calm me down. I did as she ordered me to and I took some rest for the few hours I had before being discharged. According to her, Jayce did not want me to stay there for a long time. He wanted me to come home so that he could care for me.
"You will need him to help you not feel pain." She left as soon as she said the words and I was left alone to cope with the pain.
Despite the fact that I was an orphan, his father received me, cherished me and made me his son's Luna. Before he died, he made me promise on his deathbed to always be by his son's side. I was beginning to wish I never agreed to his promise. I regretted it so much.
Soon, my stay at the hospital was over and Jayce's bodyguard came to pick me up. Despite not being very strong, I followed him to the pack house. I saw Serena and Jayce waiting for me. Both of them were standing at the entrance, and they looked at me with mockery and contempt in their eyes.
They asked what the doctor had said and when I said nothing, Serena laughed and talked about my dead child. "That bastard got dealt with the right way," she said, laughing and mocking me.
My heart was beating very fast when she insulted my dead child. I wanted to fight her but I was too weak.
"See this," Jayce said as he threw a piece of paper at my face. "You know that these are the divorce papers. I want you to sign them."
Shivers began to shake through my blood when I heard what Jayce had said. I looked at him and he gave me a hard stare.
"So after everything this is how I am rewarded?" I asked as I began to cry
After everything I went through in Jayce's hands, it was time that I left him for good. I took a pen and was about to sign when something weird happened.
"Don't you dare sign those papers Blair!" A harsh female voice yelled at me and it made me fear in my heart.
I stood up on my feet to look for who was speaking.
"Who could that be?" I asked and I shook where I was and turned around.
The moment my eyes looked at the mirror, I saw a pair of white eyes looking at me. I almost shook because I was scared and I yelled loudly, my belly shaking and my body in fear as the white eyes caused some kind of pain.
When I had the boldness to look at it again, I was shocked at what I saw. It was a big white wolf staring at me.
It later smiled and said in a nice voice, "do not sign it Blair, that is not your destiny."
Its eyes were shining brighter. I was scared of the presence of his magnificent creature in this room. Its aura was shiny and its eyes were white enough to blind someone and make them think of wolf heaven.
Who was this and why were its eyes white like that?
I heaved a sigh as I wondered what the heck that wolf actually was.
Blair's POV
As I shook, I stepped away from the white eyed creature, scared that it may do something very evil I was not prepared for. I wanted to scream for aid but I didn't even know where to start. "What could you be?" I asked it as I walked closer to the door.
The angelic creature came out laughing. It was a woman and she looked very beautiful. "So you're still not smart to see? You can not guess? I have been with you since forever, sent from the moon goddess and you're asking me such questions."
I stopped when I heard what the white wolf said. Its eyes were still shining as it shook its head at the foolish question I asked. "Or did the trauma of losing the one thing you really love affect you this much?"
"The thing I love?" I asked as I said in shock at the creature close to me in awe.
Its smile became wide as it waited patiently for me to respond. That was when I came to my senses. "This creature, you're my angel!"
"You can call me Betty," She said as she laughed with happiness in her eyes. I was in awe. This was difficult to believe. I just looked at the beast as I tried to believe whatever it was that was happening.
"This is not possible, this cannot be, I do not have an angel," I said as I doubted and tried to believe what was happening. This made the lady fume in anger.
"So who do you want to believe? these losers here or your mind and reasoning?" She questioned.
I became silent as I tried to put together the dots of what was happening. "You better believe it Blair, I don't have time to waste here," Betty said as she drew my attention to herself again.
"We have always been together for the longest, you have always had an angel."
"Always?" I questioned as I thought of that word wondering what she meant when she said that. That was when Betty revealed that she was one with me and she had been hearing all of my cries.
I wondered why I did not know. She said that she monitored me for the longest but was scared to show herself with me or talk with me because she did not know how I would react.
"You have finally reached your breaking point and are going to start your journey in pain and loneliness. You will surely need a companion. That was what connected us," she said as she laid on the ground and fluttered her wings together.
I now understood what she was talking about. Jayce had planned with my sister to throw me out after all the good things I did for him drove me to take a big decision to leave him forever.
The fire and grief that sparked me to take the decision connected me and my angel.
After accepting my angel, I asked her about her background. She was different from any other angel I'd seen.
Some angels had yellow, green, red eyes but hers were shiny, mixed with all the print colors and had a gold lining. With happiness in her voice, she said I was the last of an extinct wolf.
My type of wolves were moved by extreme emotions and the wolf's angel will be fired to come out.
That was how Betty was able to reach me after all. "Why did you allow the foolish guy to keep using you as his toy? After everything you had done for him, you were going to accept nothing and leave him empty handed?" She asked me while she flew to the air. Her eyes were shining with fire and it made chills go down my legs.
"So what do you now decide, will you allow Jayce to enjoy his life while you die away in pain or will you show him the aftermath of your anger?" She asked as she gave me options.
I did not know what to say at the time. I was still trying to process this revelation and I could not think properly.
"I am torn in between," I said as I lifted my eyes to look at Betty. Before I could blink my eyelids, she was gone.
The twenty three hours I was meant to spend time with her was over.
Jayce and Anabelle came to bang at my door and asked me to let them in. I was still on my bed, consumed in my thoughts as they came to knock.
I opened my door and Anabelle walked in. She pushed me to the side and looked at me and asked for the divorce papers.
"I hope you have signed it? Do you not know that you are wasting our time?" Jayce asked as he stared around the room.
I did not give them any answer in particular but I walked to the drawers where I kept the papers, took it out in Jayce's front and kept it on the table. Jayce dragged it from the table and opened it.
"What do you think you are doing?" He questioned angrily and opened the pages and saw that they were empty.
"Why have you not signed the papers yet, what could you be waiting for?" He yelled as he threw the papers on me.
Anabelle came closer to him and asked him to throw me out of his house if I did not do what I was told.
"She's thinking she's still the Luna of the mansion. Throw her out already."
When I heard what Anabelle said, I answered her with my head still down. "The truth is, I don't think I can sign those papers because of the promise I made to your father, the late alpha." I went ahead to tell them the promise and I also made a request at once.
"Could you please give me a few months to grant his last wish? Once I have helped you and your lover to get married, I'll leave this area forever," I promised as I lifted my head to look at them.
They looked at me with uncertainty in their faces and they laughed out loud. "You said you wished on his deathbed, you must be stupid to even think we'd believe that," Anabelle chirped in.
"Okay, your wish is granted," Jayce agreed, leaving Anabelle shocked.
"I'll grant your wish of staying here for the time you have said, when you are ready to leave, you'll sign these divorce papers, leave and never come back?"
"Yes boss," I replied to him and bowed.
Jayce's decision made Anabelle angry. She protested against it. She tried to tell Jayce to refuse but Jayce did not listen to her.
"It is the truth. It was my fathers dying wish. It was her duty to make sure I was always happy, it is better she happily hands over her position rather than being mocked for doing so," Jayce said as he tried to cheer Anabelle's mood.
She reluctantly agreed to what Jayce said and turned to give me an evil eye. "Besides, she is not a strong person, I don't think she will last a week," Jayce mocked me as he left the room with Anabelle.
I looked at them as I watched them leave. That was when I heard Betty's voice, "you made the right choice Blair, excellent!"
