The Lost Luna Princess

Jason's POV

"What have you done?" Nick, the kings gamma shouted.

All eyes turning to me as he stood over the lifeless body of a pack warrior laying on the ground. Feeling the heat from his eyes as they burned into my own, I began to shift into my wolf ready to fight my way out. As beta of the Royal Pack, I was stronger than Nick but still had to get past the pack warriors also present. I brought my wolf Blake forward as quick as I could knowing I would need him to escape my sealed fate. Once I had shifted Blake took control lunging straight for Nick however, he rolled to the side shifting into his own wolf. Blake has dark brown fur and is slightly bigger than Nicks sandy coloured wolf Haze. Loud snarls filled the room as both our wolves circled each other.

"Join us Nick, join us or fall with the rest." I shouted through our mind link. A link that was only possible being we are from the same pack.

Without responding Haze barrelled into us sending Blake flying into the wall with a thud. I felt my wolf's anger as our invitation had been refused. Before I know it Blake is back on all fours pinning Haze to the floor. The sound of feral growls and the heavy thud of paws sounded like thunder drawing closer as more pack warriors arrived. I knew I was running out of time. With a hard bite and a kick, I rendered Haze unconscious and threw myself out the window.

Blake's fall was softened by the pink rose bushes that Luna Vanessa the queen of the royal pack had planted just that spring with the help of her daughter Princess Angel who only recently turned 2. Angel looked so much like her mother, and I could only wonder if she would be as beautiful when she was older.

"I guess we will never know as for our plan to work the whole royal bloodline needs to be eradicated"

"I know Blake, but I can't help but feel guilty at the thought of taking the life of an innocent child"

Though I knew Luna Vanessa would be upset once she saw the flattened rose bush, I knew nothing would anger her more than finding out I had betrayed her and my alpha king. See I had been approached by a group of rogues roughly six months ago asking for my help to become part of the royal pack. I had gotten them an audience with the Alpha King William, yet they were refused a place in the pack. They weren't refused due to being rogues as Alpha William always believed everyone deserved a second chance, however he denied them because they wouldn't disclose what made them become rogues.

His duty as Alpha king meant he had to have the best interests of the pack when it came to their safety, so the rogues not telling him what they had done meant they could be very dangerous and were not to be trusted.

I was asked to escort the Rogues to the border of our territory which was just one more thing to piss me off, as being a Beta I felt this shouldn't be my job but that of a pack warrior. The rogues could see I was nearing my last straw and told me that they would help me to become the Alpha King if I was to help them destroy the royal family we had now giving them superior roles within the pack.

At first, I refused and threatened to kill them if they tried anything but after a few more weeks of being given jobs that should have been given to other pack members I sought out the rogues and took them up on their offer, from there forming our plan.

- Alpha Kings POV

It had been three months since I had denied the rogues sanctuary, and all had been quiet since. Or at least until this afternoon. After getting a mind link from my guards at the western border I immediately told my gamma Nick to get Vanessa and my daughter Angel to the safe room in the palace. Knowing they were safe would mean I wouldn't be distracted while we got rid of the threat that Was making its way through my land.

I sent a mind link out to the rest of the pack telling them to get themselves and their families into the bunkers under their homes, hoping to have only my pack warriors out meaning less casualties.

I made my way to the balcony on the edge of my palace, this faced the direction in which the enemy was coming from. It didn't take long before the putrid smell of rotten eggs hit my nose, telling me that the rogues were almost here. Just as I was about to shift my head warrior Owen mind linked me telling me that my gamma Nick had been found unconscious on the floor in one of the rooms on the second floor of the palace, in the south wing. The wing in which was reserved for the beta and his family once they had one.

To say I was confused was an understatement, how had a rogue gotten into the palace undetected. They weren't the strongest of wolves as they didn't tend to run in packs meaning they wouldn't have access to the strength that comes from being part of one. Let alone having the ability to conceal their scent.

"Alpha I have been informed that beta Jason is aiding the rogues" Owens alarmed voice rang out in my mind.

"How did you find this out" I replied needing to know exactly what was going on. This was a serious accusation to make against a ranked pack member.

"One of the warriors witnessed the beta attacking the gamma, right before leaping from a window at the end of the corridor on the betas floor and running in the direction of the rogues" Owen confirmed.

Shit why the hell was Jason helping the rogues and what were they gaining from this. I sent a mind link to all of the pack warriors and civilians alerting them not to trust beta Jason. I wanted him captured if found, I would be interrogating him when this was over.

Alpha Kings POV

I raced down to the safe room using my enhanced speed to check that Nick had gotten my family to safety before he had confronted Jason. As I entered the staircase that led to the safe room my nose was hit with the coppery smell of fresh blood. Fear and anger flooded my senses, and my wolf Maximus was growling in my head. He was just as pissed as I was promising to make Jason and everyone else involved pay.

As I rounded the corner the corridor walls were splattered with blood and the lifeless bodies of two guards were torn apart on the ground.

Maximus spoke in my head telling me what I already knew. The scent from down here wasn't that of the rogues but of my lifetime friend and beta Jason. I flung the safe room door open and there on the floor was my beautiful mate and queen.

Vanessa was alive but her injuries were bad, she wasn't healing, and I could smell wolfsbane in her blood.

"That bastard laced the knife in poison" Maximus confirm what I was thinking.

I pulled the sliver knife from her abdomen, the smell of burning flesh entered my nose as it seared the skin in my hand. My face began to feel wet from the tears that fell from my eyes at the sight of Vanessa. I knew she wouldn't survive this the blood loss was too much and the wolfsbane with silver prevented the healing process from working.

Through our mate bond I could feel her pain, her fear and her anger. She opened her beautiful blue eyes that once looked like the sparkling reflection of the ocean noticing how they had now darkened, tears falling from them onto her beautiful flawless face. She looked at me and with her soft voice she said one thing that made me feel as if my world had ended.

"Angel".

Had Angel been taken had someone saved her I didn't know but I promised Vanessa, I would find her. Maximus was using all of his strength to try and come to the surface knowing that our pup was missing, it took every ounce of power I had to hold him back. And with that I felt my heart tear into pieces. My Vanessa slipped away. I felt our bond fade leaving nothing but emptiness and the feeling that half of me had died. I couldn't hold Maximus back any longer and with a deafening howl I gave him control.

- Luna Queens POV

It had been a long day; I had gone back to my room to settle Angel as the festivities had worn her out and she was beginning to become fussy. There was a sudden knock on the door before it burst open startling me. William had ordered Nick to get me and our daughter to safety so he could lead the road to victory against the rogues that had entered our territory slaughtering a few of the guards that were on patrol.

"Follow me Luna and keep close" Nick shouts as we run down the corridors of the palace.

I had Angel in my arms as she was somehow able to sleep through all of what was happening. Pack warriors rushed past us as they went outside shifting into their wolves heading towards the western borders. I wished that William was coming with us, but I knew that being alpha and king to the royal pack meant he needed to be by his fighter's sides, giving them strength and courage as he stands with them.

"Luna wait here" Nick whispers in a soft tone, my eyes widened as the smell of rotten eggs came from the staircase leading from the basement.

"Rogues" I replied.

I wished I too could fight beside my pack as I was a skilled warrior before I became a mum. William didn't like the fact I would fight when needed but he knew he couldn't stop me. Myself and my wolf Diamond enjoyed the hunt. Diamond was an ivory colour wolf with green eyes that resembled emeralds. I too am the daughter of a pure-blooded alpha, and I was a direct descendant of the moon goddess, meaning I was stronger than many Lunas. My wolfs colour was rare confirming we were of special blood.

As I held Angel closer to my chest Nick rounded the corner my heartbeat thumping away as I hoped that he wouldn't be overpowered. Growls and whines came from the staircase then all of a sudden Everything went quiet, before finally Nick emerged.

"Right let's go" Nick said as he led me down the corridor.

There on the ground were the bodies of two rogues, one had fully shifted and by the looks of it the second died while shifting. Nick had been quick to deal with them before they could harm us. Once me and Angel were inside the door was locked. I had asked Nick to go and aid the others knowing no one would be able to get in here. He reluctantly agreed after mind linking his mate, the gamma female Marie asking her to join us as she too was a trained warrior.

It didn't take long for Marie to arrive; she wasn't as slim a build as most she-wolves Marie was muscular in build with her red hair styled in a bob due to all the training she went through to join the packs warriors. She didn't wish to be a mother as she enjoyed the thrill of the fight and feared if she had a pup, she wouldn't be able to train. Time seemed to pass slowly as we waited to be told it was over. It was then that Myself and Marie got a mind link from Jason our beta that things were ok, and he was coming to escort us back upstairs.

"Do you not think it's strange that it's Jason informing us and not our William?" Diamond was concerned but I reminded her we had no reason not to trust Jason. He was after all the beta and Williams best friend.

Just as I opened the door to the safe room, we caught the smell of blood and rogues. We immediately knew something wasn't right but before we could shut the door Jason had forced it wider open. My eyes widened with shock as I took in the sight before me. Laying on the floor was the two guards Nick had ordered to stand guard both torn apart and their blood covering the floor and walls.

"Why" was all I could say before I felt the burning sensation of something sharp enter my abdomen.

Jason had stabbed me with a silver knife that felt like it had been dipped in wolfsbane as the pain was like nothing I had ever felt before. Diamond whimpered as she too felt the pain as I did. I fell to the floor and looked straight to where Marie was comforting Angel.

"Take Angel and run. Run like you have never run before, please save her" I begged through the mind link.

I could see the tears burning in her eyes knowing she didn't want to leave me to die her Luna and best friend, but she respected my wish.

Nicks POV

I woke up on the floor, the bite on my shoulder nearly healed already thank the goddess for being a werewolf, if I'd been a human I wouldn't start to heal for days. I took in my surroundings as I stood up, Jason was gone the window at the end of the corridor smashed so I'm guessing he jumped. I looked out and realised he must have landed on the rose bushes underneath, that would have given him a softer landing with less injuries if any at all.

"The Luna's going to be pissed when she sees them" my wolf Haze chuckled in my head, I nodded in silent agreement.

I tried to mind link Marie and her wolf Violet but nothing, it was like I was hit by a wall. I heard movement outside and went to see what it was, a pack warrior was growling as he healed from what seemed to be a broken back leg. He would need to stay this way until fully healed otherwise there would be a chance it wouldn't fix properly once in human form. I could see the pack doctor on the lawn out front tending to a wolf that had a leg torn completely off.

"That's got to have hurt" Haze winced at the sight of one of our own.

"Haze this had to be Jason's doing as a rogue wouldn't have the strength needed to do that to a pack warrior" Haze nodded in agreement.

I tried to contact Alpha William but instead of getting a reply I got heavy breathing.

"Where are you" I said through the mind link.

After a few minutes silence he responded with two words "safe room"

His voice held pain and anger which made fear run through me. The safe room is where I had left Marie to protect Luna Vanessa and her daughter. I should have stayed with them after all as gamma that was my role, play bodyguard to the Luna and Princess, protecting them at all costs. Giving my life if need be whilst I always hoped that would never have to happen.

I ran as fast as I could tapping into my wolf to gain extra speed, as I arrived the sight before me dropped me too my knees. There sitting on the floor was Alpha William holding Luna Vanessa in his lap her yellow sundress she had worn at the festival now soaked with blood the colour a deep shade of scarlet.

"Dammit Haze I knew I should have stayed with them, at least then the Luna could have escaped"

"But then you would be dead, and you couldn't stay the Luna gave you an order. You know as well as I do, we cannot disobey her"

Haze was right we couldn't disobey the order of the Luna just like we couldn't the Alpha. I looked around and noticed that both Marie and Angel were gone. I helped Alpha William stand as the pain of losing a mate is enough to kill some wolves but being the royal alpha, it would take more than this.

"I have her, I have Angel we escaped but the Luna sh... she was stabbed. I...it was Jason he's working with the rogues. Jason was following us, but I think I lost him in the forest!" Marie's voice flooded through my mind. Her voice was trembling I could tell she was crying, her fear flowing through the mate bond letting me know how she felt.

"Marie thank god!" I shouted back through the mind link,

"I couldn't get hold of you are you and Angel, ok?" I asked her as calm as I could trying to ease some of her fear.

"We are in one piece if that counts" she responded.

I told her about the Luna and how she died shortly after Alpha William had found her and I could feel how upset she was, the Luna and Marie had been good friends growing up. Marie's mum becoming a second mother when her own was no longer able to stay by her side.

"Stay hidden I will find you" I told her.

- Alpha Kings POV

After my beautiful Vanessa died in my arms my wolf Maximus took control allowing me to sink into the back of the darkest depths of the mind that we share, I just couldn't think straight at the moment. Maximus was gunning for blood. Jason's blood.

Nick had filled me in on what Marie had told him how it was Jason that had taken my mate away from me, but I didn't know why. He had been my best friend since we were children, we had trained and fought together. I had wanted to interrogate Jason at the beginning but now, fuck that I want him dead. I want him to die painfully and slowly. Just like some of my warriors had just like my Vanessa.

Pack warriors searched everywhere for Jason, but he wasn't found my wolf was pacing in my head completely angered with the day's events. How the hell had a family fun packed day turn upside down so quickly.

We had captured two of the rogues and had beat them continuously with silver whips, letting them heal and then beat them again until they told us their plans. They had told us they had planned on eliminating me and my family in the hopes that my former beta would become king and themselves ranked pack members. We had kept them in the dungeon chained to the wall with silver cuffs. The silver would cause them irritation to the skin on their wrists and stop them having contact with their wolves. One of the rogues didn't look any older then seventeen, but I couldn't think about that he knew what he was doing when he attacked us.

After a week we was finally finished with them, so I wasted no time in ending their horrid lives. Angel was still with Marie, we agreed it wasn't safe for her to return just yet even though I missed her with all my heart. Together Nick and I formed our own plan. It would be risky but if we pulled it off the pack and my daughter would be safe.

A few days later......

"Alpha we spotted beta Jason at the edge of the lake on the southern side of the territory" one of the guards shouted through the mind link

"Do not approach him" I ordered.

"I want to kill him myself"

I would make him pay for everything it wouldn't be a slow death either. I promised myself that I would make it as painful and long a process as I could. He had committed treason to his alpha and murdered his Luna. Not just any old alpha but the king, I would make him regret ever being born.
