The Investigation

Tears rolled down her cheek, she felt there was no consolation, what was happening to her? Who has she wronged that will do this to her? Why? Why? Why her? She ran out of the crime scene at full speed as she headed for nowhere in particular.

She could hear her friend and neighbor calling out to her but soon enough she ran out of their sight, after a few seconds of catching her breath, she rested her butt on a nearby field, and she burst into fresh tears as she recalled all that happened.

"FLASHBACK"

"Make a few more poses, the magazine cover and Bliss Entertainment needs a lot of pictures for their cover, "Director Linda said.

Just then I received a phone call from an unknown number

"Hello, please who am I speaking with" Annabel said.

The caller from the other end replied

"This is David from the crimes and investigation unit, I am a fan of yours that's why I called you to come over to 8b Linus estate, We found a dead body here" The caller replied.

Annabel was silent for a few seconds lost in thought, "Linus estate rang a bell, but she can't fall into anybody's trap" She snapped out of her reverie and replied

"Sorry sir but I can't come over, Seeing a dead man's body in Linus estate does not have anything to do with me, am a very busy person and if you would excuse me, I would love to go back to what I was doing" Annabel replied

"Wait!!, The body we found here belongs to your fiancé Gregory Linus, I just wanted to inform you" David replied.

The call got disconnected, and Annabel's phone landed on the floor and shattered into pieces, Miara who was standing a few paces away from her walked up to her

"Annabel! Annabel! Annabel! What is wrong with you?" Miara asked

Annabel could hear Miara's voice, but it sounded far away, and soon enough she blacked out.

Annabel woke up to find everything blurred, She squinted her eyes and tried adjusting to the light, She stood up from the soft bed, Miara rushed to her immediately and hugged her tightly

"I thought I was going to lose you" Miara mumbled and finally released her

"What happened? Are you okay? Fine I shouldn't be asking that, It's obvious you are not okay, what is wrong with you" Miara said dramatically while chuckling.

She remembered the call she received and started crying. She tried rushing out, but Miara held my hand

"Annabel, what is going on? Why are you crying?" Miara asked concerned

"G.... r...e...g...o...r.y" I stammered a reply while sniffing

"Annabel, breathe in, a deep one, Everything is going to be fine," Miara said while patting my hair roughening it in the process, I breathed in and replied

"Someone called to tell me that Gregory is dead" I replied

Miaras's eyes were almost bulging out of its socket

"Gregory is dead? How? Why? When? Who called you" Miara said all in one breath.

"Miara can you calm down, I don't even know which question to answer," Ann said tearily

"Someone called saying that Gregory's dead body was found in his estate, I want to go and check it out myself" she continued, and Miara nodded her head in understanding

Philip Montez who lived in Annabel's estate walked towards them and Miara immediately exclaimed

"Oh shit!!! Annabel, I forgot to tell you that Philip asked for lunch with you and......." Miara said but was interrupted by Philips's voice

"Hey ladies, it's a pleasure seeing you guys, So lunch" Philip paused

"Ann, are you okay? Your eyes are all red and swollen" Philip continued

"Someone called to tell her that Gregory is dead" Miara chirped in

"WHAT!!!!!!" Philip exclaimed

"We were on our way there" Miara added

"Okay I will take you guys there" Philip replied

Soon they were on the elevator, then the road headed for Gregory's mansion

Gregory is dead, she saw his body. What will people say? First, it was Peter now it's Gregory, all the guys she loved are dead, murdered in cold blood without any clue, how would the police find the murderer? It was a clean job with no trace" she lamented on and on with tears rolling down her cheeks.

Annabel's manager Leilani Brian, who is popularly called Lady No Joke because of her seriousness, walked into Annabel's office with the sounds of her heels clicking on the tiled floor

"Annabel' Leilani called mildly

"Please Lei, am not in the mood for anyone's sympathy, Just go straight to the point and tell me what I need to know," Annabel said sternly making Leilani sigh

"Have been able to clear all the scandals caused by the journalists and the news about your fiancé's death has been erased with the help of James Nathan, the owner of Blitz Empire and he requests a date with you" Leilani rapped

"Kindly tell him that I appreciate his help, but I can't go out on a date with him" Annabel replied and after some minutes added

"Am still mourning my fiancés dead" Annabel added with Leilani nodding to the reply

Annabel rushed out of her vehicle running through the crowd passed the glass doors when she entered the building, she could not help but marvel at the interior decoration, damn she was late for her meeting with the director of blitz empire, rumors had it that James Nathan was very strict and kept to time

Has she rushed into the building and headed for the elevator, she bumped into someone

"Ouch!!! My head hurts" Ann exclaimed

"Sorry about that, You should watch where you headed next time" a thick masculine voice replied which got Annabel looking up.

Lost in his blue enchanting eyes, Ann could not help but marvel at such a well-sculpted man, from his sharp jawline, blue eyes, thick brows, his biceps that stood out in the thin shirt fabric threatening to burst out soon. Ann could not help but notice the lopsided grin on his face and that made her snap out of her thought

"Am sorry for running into you, I am in a hurry for a meeting" Ann retorted and walked past.

"I guess you don't who you were supposed to have the meeting with" James retorted

Ann turned swiftly and faced the handsome stranger

"What is that supposed to mean?" Ann retorted

"James Nathan is the name and you were late for a meeting, I was already on my way out" James replied

"Am sorry about that, I had things to fix at work and please can we head back in" Ann replied

"It's fine, I must say you look more beautiful in person, the magazines and photos do not define how beautiful you are" James retorted.

"It's a pleasure, Thanks for the compliment"Ann replied

The duo walked into the elevator, they entered the office and after the legal procedures, Annabel was signed up as the ambassador for Blizt Entertainment.

"Congratulations, Miss Annabel I hope my company will not be disappointed by choosing you" James retorted while shaking hands with Ann

"Am good at what I do, so you can be rest assured that I will deliver my best"Ann replied professionally.

"That's nice to hear, if I may ask, there's a coffee shop close by, can we grab coffee together while we do a little chit chat"James retorted

"And your schedule for the photoshoots will be sent to your manager" James added

"It's okay and about the coffee, I guess you would lead the way"Annabel replied which got James grinning From ear to ear.

The duo grabbed the coffee and James told jokes that got Ann laughing, which has not been possible for a few months since the death of Gregory.

"Can I drop you off since you are not here with your guards, it quite had with handling the press you know?"James retorted after the coffee

"That's so nice of you, I would appreciate" Ann replied

"I want to introduce you to the most beautiful woman have ever seen" James retorted staring intently at Ann

"Oh!!! That's fine, so who's this woman" Ann replied

"Look outside the window " James replied

Looking outside, she couldn't find anyone but her reflection on the glass windows, getting what he meant, she was flustered with a bright tint of red blush on her face.

"I don't know if am too forward but if you are in a crowd, I won't see the crowd but I would see YOU" James added getting Ann slightly embarrassed,

Damn!!! This guy is romantic, Ann thought with a flustered face while biting her red cherry plump lip and bringing it out wet, failing to notice the burning gaze that held so much desire and admiration.

Even in this sweet moment, one thought lingered in her mind

"Don't get this guy killed Ann. He is too Handsome, kind, and lovely to die so early." Ann thought inwardly.

Wakey wakey sleepy head" Miara sang into my ears, I tossed on the bed and covered my ears with pillows.

"Miss Leilani is here!!!!" Miara exclaimed and Ann jumped down from the bed immediately,

"Where's she? Ann asked, looking around the room. Miara could not help but laugh at the scene

"Seriously, you played that silly prank on me," Ann asked pissed off

"I knew that was the only thing that could get your lazy bones out of that bed. Wait a second you seriously afraid of your manager" Miara asked still laughing

" I pay that Lady but she can be very strict, can't believe I got up from the bed at just the mention of her name" Ann whined tiredly

" Yeah, and that is what is best for you. So, get up we are hitting the gym, AND don't say no, cause.....

"My manager is one call away". Ann completed the sentence

"You are correct " Miara replied giggling

" I don't know how we met but just know I hate you " Ann replied

" Same here baby doll" Miara replied giggling nonstop. A silly idea popped up in Ann's head

"Have I ever told you your ass looks like pancakes, gross!! So flat" Ann retorted while smiling.

The look on Miara's face showed how she was boiling inside and in a swift movement she attacked Ann using the pillow to hit her repeatedly

" Am sorry, sorry" Ann pleaded, when they disengaged they looked so scattered and rough while breathing heavily

" Why would you hit me? I borrowed a speech from your EX though" Ann retorted which got the two laughing

Miara's Ex-boyfriend had ended the relationship with the " I can't continue with this relationship, I mean your ass looks like pancakes. I can't do this anymore" statement. It was a thing to remember each time Ann wanted to tease Miara.

" Can you help me with my breakfast?" Ann asked Miara

" Not after you insulted me" Miara replied

"I was hoping I could set up dinner tonight and also invite Philip over... But since you don't want to help with the breakfast, I will cancel it" Ann retorted

" I will make the breakfast okay, so you don't need to cancel it" Miara replied immediately

Ann giggled inwardly, Miara has a soft spot for Philip which was an advantage to her. Thinking hard she couldn't help but wonder why she had never seen Philip with any lady, that wasn't her business. She was happy she could convince Miara to prepare the meal.

" Am I not a genius?" Ann thought excitedly, Smiling, she ran into her bathtub, immersing herself completely and enjoying the soothing feeling on her skin.

Getting ready for the gym, the two girls walked hand in hand

Ann and Miara arrived at the gym and stepped down from their G-wagon. The duo walked into the building with some strides, the three outfits that looked enchanting

In the same building, advancing outside the building James and Baron were walking together when James saw a lady from afar, and after a closer look, he realized it was Ann, It seemed the world at come to a stop as he stared at her, she radiated the sun, her smile was perfect, her strides in a swift and beautiful motion, her curves where perfectly in place, it seemed there was a magnetic pull between them that he just couldn't resist, all he wanted was to walk up to her and make her belong to only him, make her stay in his arms forever. He realized how he missed her even if it was just a little chit-chat that they had that day.

Baron, noticing how lost his friend looked, trailed his gaze and when he noticed it was Annabel Kel, the famous model who had lost two fiances, sudden fear gripped him and he tapped James immediately.

" You were staring at Annabel Kel, please tell me you don't have any intentions of wooing her?" Baron asked and James shrugged his shoulders plainly

" What's wrong with that?" James replied

Not believing what he just heard, Baron blinked his eyes with surprise written all over his face

"Are you sick? Did you drink? It's Annabel Kel we are talking about here" Baron questioned

"Am aware of that and I am well and healthy" James replied nonchalantly

"I guess you are planning to add your name to her death list. She is a MURDERER.....

James landed a punch on his face immediately after he finished, he was so furious that it could be seen clearly on his face.

"You don't have any right to talk to her in that manner and just because two of her fiance died does not mean I will die too, I love her and I believe it will work out between us and if you didn't hear me well, I repeat I LOVE HER" James retorted while Baron chuckled

"I believe you are going nuts, Two men died mysteriously a week before their wedding and you still want to join the list. Now that you can get rid of the feelings you better do and don't say I didn't warn you 'cause I did" Baron replied with a tone of finality and with this said he walked out.

James roughened his hair, as Baron spoke the truth. No, I can't give up on my love for her. I love Ann and I would fight for my love and with this thought, he walked towards her.
