The Husband Who Threw Me Away

Author: : Qin Wei
Genre: Billionaires
I was Elara, an orphaned girl embraced by foster parents, now the wife of Julian Vance. Our marriage, two years strong, coincided with a miraculous turnaround in Julian's health and fortune, earning me the quiet title of the family' s 'lucky charm' . But then, my estranged half-sister, Chloe – the one my wealthy biological family kept – dramatically reappeared. She accused me, with theatrical tears, of manipulating everyone and driving her away. Julian, without a moment's hesitation or a single glance at my visibly rounded stomach, cast me aside, his face a mask of cold fury. I was banished to a desolate 'wellness retreat,' a euphemism for a hellhole where public humiliation was daily bread and I endured three years of unspeakable degradation. There, alone on a cold floor, I tragically lost our unborn baby. Upon my return, a mere husk, I overheard Julian dismiss me as a discarded 'rabbit's foot,' and shortly after, Chloe set fire to the boathouse where she'd confined me, intending to burn me alive. The crushing weight of their betrayal hit harder than any physical blow: I was never Julian' s wife, never family; just a disposable vessel for their 'luck,' discarded once my purpose was seemingly served. How could Julian, my own husband, be so blind, so callous? And what kind of monster actively orchestrates another's living hell, then tries to erase them entirely? But I refused to be extinguished. Pulled from the literal and metaphorical ashes by my loving foster parents, the naive victim they knew perished that night. From the remnants of despair, a new Elara rose, transforming their small farm into 'Elara' s Harvest,' a thriving empire built on integrity and true strength – ready for vengeance, or perhaps, something far more satisfying.

Introduction

Chapter 1

The Hamptons charity gala buzzed with fake laughter and the clinking of champagne glasses.

I stood by Julian Vance, my husband, feeling out of place in the expensive dress his mother had picked.

Julian' s health had been a miracle, doctors said, ever since our marriage two years ago.

His family saw me as a good luck charm, a quiet arrangement nobody spoke aloud.

I was Elara, raised by foster parents, the Millers, after my wealthy biological family, the Harrisons, gave me up.

They doted on Chloe, my half-sister, the one they kept.

Then Chloe appeared.

She had vanished years ago, refusing to marry Julian when he was at his sickest.

Now, she was a vision in white, a "rescued" damsel, tears in her eyes.

Julian' s attention snapped to her, instantly.

He left my side without a word.

He showered Chloe with champagne, with compliments, his eyes fixed on her.

The crowd watched, whispering. I felt their stares, sharp and cold.

Chloe saw me, and her lip curled for a second before she resumed her tearful act.

"Julian, oh Julian," Chloe sobbed, loud enough for everyone to hear.

"It was Elara. She drove me away. She manipulated everyone."

Her voice dripped with false sorrow.

"She wanted you all to herself. Please, protect me from her schemes."

Julian turned to me. His face was cold, dismissive.

The man whose life had bloomed beside me looked at me like I was dirt.

"Elara," he said, his voice low and hard. "You' ve caused enough trouble."

He didn't even look at my slightly rounded stomach, the baby we were expecting.

"I'm sending you away. To a wellness retreat. For your own good."

His parents, the Vances, nodded in agreement, their faces grim.

My own parents, the Harrisons, stood near Chloe, offering her comfort, their eyes avoiding mine.

The "wellness retreat" was in some remote, forgotten part of the country.

I knew, deep down, it wasn't for my wellness.

It was a banishment.

Chapter 2

The "wellness retreat" was a hellhole.

It was a front, a place where wealthy patrons paid to watch vulnerable people break.

They forced us into degrading "performances."

Public humiliation was a daily ritual.

The food was scarce, the conditions filthy.

My pregnancy, already fragile from stress, couldn't survive that place.

I lost my baby there, alone, on a cold floor.

The pain was a constant ache, a hollow space inside me.

Three years. Three years I endured.

Then, one day, they released me, just like that.

I was a husk, barely alive.

I made my way back, driven by a desperate, flickering hope.

I found myself outside a small, discreet restaurant where Julian was meeting the Harrisons.

I hid in the shadows, listening.

"She was good for my stability, I'll admit," Julian's voice drifted out, smooth and careless.

"Her presence, it did something for my health."

My biological mother, Mrs. Harrison, chimed in. "Well, Chloe is back now, dear. She' ll be a much better public face for the family."

"Exactly," Julian agreed. "Elara... I suppose I can keep her somewhere quiet. A hidden mistress, perhaps. As long as she doesn' t cause trouble."

Mr. Harrison chuckled. "Sensible. We always knew Chloe was the prize."

My breath caught.

It wasn't me they valued. Not Elara.

It was my "luck." My uncanny ability to bring good fortune to those I was close to.

They had used me, drained me, and now they were ready to discard the shell.

The realization hit me harder than any physical blow at the retreat.

My naivete, my love, had been a tool for them.
