Chapter 1 Start

"LAIRD! What the hell did you do? Why did you not go to our next class? Did you know that Mrs. Deguzman was looking for you earlier? Did you know what did I answer to her? I said you have LBM, " Miona immediately greeted me when I saw her in the corridor of my locker.

Coincidentally, she also went to her locker, that is why she saw me.

She was wearing thick reading glasses, like me. She was also bullied by the bully on our campus. That's why we became friends.

I frowned at her. "What? There's so much reason that you are free to choose, why would that LBM thingy?"

I was pissed because of her reason. LBM? Seriously? I have never had LBM. It would have been better if she had reason out to Mrs. Deguzman that I have a headache, or, if not, she had many options to tell our professor.

She crossed her arms and stare at me. "You know what, just thank me, because I saved your ass," she said and raised her eyebrows.

I remembered what she told me before we became friends. She kept her promise.

I shook my head and then smiled. I adjusted my thick reading glass then brought my face closer to her. I stared into her eyes. Out of sheer shock, her eyes widened, and stepped back away from me.

"Thanks, Miona. Another debt from you. Where do you want to eat?" The corner of my lips lifted when I saw her swallowed.

I'm a geek. But she cares about me. Who would have thought? Am I that attractive? I shook my head, about the thought running in my mind.

I put my books in the locker while waiting for her answer. I locked my locker and put the key in my pocket. I turned to her, she's still stunned until now.

"Miona? I'm asking you, I need your answer," I woke her up causing her to look at me.

She was out of her mind as she stared at me. What is happening to this woman?

"W-what? What is your question again?"

I scratched my nose. And my eyes widened when I closed my eyes and open them again. What is happening to this woman she is not in herself? While how could she shout at me earlier like that?

I ignored her question, instead, I put my arm around her waist and pulled her out of the locker.

"Let's go to the cafeteria, I'm free."

She does not reacted and did anything but follow me.

Miona Park is my best friend here on campus. Since my first year of high school, she has been my friend, thus she is really important to me. I also treated her like my sister. So if there is anything wrong with her I can not hold it.

I immediately looked for an empty table when we got inside the cafeteria. Almost the eyes of some students were on the two of us. We just ignored them, we used to treat us like that.

I was about to go to an empty table in a corner when Miona suddenly overtook me.

"Let's just eat outside, Laird. I don't want to be here," she stopped me. I could feel her hand trembling as she touched the hem of my shirt.

I immediately grabbed her wrist and then pulled her to the empty table. "Don't be afraid to them, Moina. Show them that you are not affected by their judgments. Do not let them put us on their feet."

"But, Laird. They looked so creepy. It looks like any moment they will go kill us, aren't you afraid of them?"

I pulled out of the chair and forced her to sit there. She could do nothing but to obey me. I took off my bag and put it on the seat, it's for me.

I stared at her intently, "The person who will kill me is not yet born, Miona. And for your information, I am not a coward just to be afraid of them."

Miona could do nothing but smirk and believe in me. She looked up with serious eyes.

It's hard to believe but that's the truth. I'm a geek and I look like shit, but I'm not afraid just because of bullies. They are nothing.

Nowadays, oppression is no longer fashionable. And at my stage, I am not like that. I am no longer Laird Hedalgo, if they only oppress me.

Even if I do not beat them, it does not mean that I am a loser. There is also time for them, at the right time rather. They just wait for that, because they will see the real Laird Hidalgo at the perfect time, once I remove my thick glass.

"LAIRD! I was calling you earlier. Why did you answer it now?" I stared into the air when I heard her voice on the other line.

I always hear her voice, every night.

"What do you need? It's midnight, Ten! Don't make me look like a sleepless."

I got up from my bed angrily and then adjusted myself. I know what is her purpose when she calls. I heard her loud sigh on the other line.

"He has been looking you, earlier. So come here. I am still the source of this old man's anger. I feel sorry for you, Laird Hedalgo."

I shook my head then slowly lowered. "What does that old man need? And why in the middle of the night? It's confusing?" I asked.

This makes me pissed off.

She annoyingly replied. "I don't know, so hurry up. Come over here, before he'll kill me."

I laughed at her hysterical voice.

Kirsten Barba is always Kirsten Barba. She still hasn't changed. That is still her habit as before, I doubt she changed a lot but I was wrong. She is still Kirsten Barba that I know.

I button up my pants while straightening my hair. After that, I faced the large mirror in my room.

"Tell him, I will be on time. He needs to do is to wait," I said and ended the call.

I put on my rolex watch. I set the time at the right time. I heard the alarm tone for a moment and it disappeared for an instant. I took my expensive shoes under my bed. I blew air to change its color suddenly; from brown to black.

I also put the Bluetooth speaker in my ear. I even smiled to myself before leaving my room while carrying the small attache case.

This is it.

Chapter 2 Mission

A COLD stare greeted me as I entered an expensive room. I don't care about my colleagues. I have my world.

I laid my attache case on my private deck and immediately opened it. I took some important things there and then put them in the pocket of my shirt and pants. I even put it on my shoes.

I smiled as I started to walk towards the old man's whereabouts. His deep and cold eyes immediately greeted me. An old man wears thick glass that is only for the elder who can no longer see.

He raised an eyebrow at me when he saw me sitting directly on the couch in front of him. I don't have time to respect him. I am not in the mood right now, especially, he is disturbing my sleep. I looked at the person who entered the room and instantly saluted me.

"I thought you were not coming," she said while smiling at me. My Kirsten Barba.

The corner of my lip lifted then I ignored him. I turned to the old man who was now in front of me. "What do you need and you want me here? I think you don't need me anymore, your good servants are here."

He laughed as we together seat in the swivel chair he was sitting on. It will support the expensive cane on the side. I rolled my eyes around the room.

I smiled angrily when I saw who I was with now. Detective 701: Adgo, 702: Gerin, 703: Heides, 704: Meroune, 705: Chaves, and 706: Kirsten. Well-known detectives throughout our country, except for me who keep my identity secret. It just because I don't want to involve my real world in my job.

"I called you all because of a tremendous and difficult mission," an old man began. Our detective general is Mister Bodge Hedalgo, my one and only grandfather.

I smiled when I heard what he said. Whatever it is, I can do it.

He clapped his hands at the same time as his staff approached and arranged the long table in front of us.

One of his staff instantly turned on the laptop, and another old man's face immediately appeared on the screen.

"Based on our investigation, Mister Caline died at around 7 pm. He was poisoned based on the police report we gathered "

Suddenly, 701 Agno stood up. "If that is the outcome of the investigation, what else do we need to do?"

Grandpa looked at all of us with a serious face. "We need to investigate it so far. Because I do not believe he was just poisoned. We also need to find out who is the mastermind behind it all."

Grandpa returned to his seat earlier.

"So why did you call us? One of us can do an investigation about Mister Caline's poisoning. Maybe this investigation is not that difficult," 703 Heides replied.

Grandpa folded his arms and then looked at us one by one. It looks like he was taken seriously during the meeting.

I also do not wonder why we are all here.

"If you think this investigation is so easy, then you are wrong. This is the most difficult investigation we will face. Even the authorities do not know who initiated the death of Mister Caline. So I called you all. We need to work together because if only one of us acts, we will not find the truth. We will not know who plotted this crime or rather who is the killer," he said in a sharped tone.

I stood up then took my attache case. "Then it's time to work."

"No one leaves until there is no step in issue, 707. Don't be in a hurry," he stopped me which caused me to sit back in my seat.

I felt like I could not breathe properly so I loosened my necktie. I'm pissed.

"So whats the plan, Mister Bodge," 706 Kirsten asked.

I stared at her too. It was as if my foot had left this headquarters. I do not waste time on their planning and steps. Nothing happens when we planned well. The bullying is still the same, it is better not to plan, the case is even more solved.

"Just make it quick," I said bored.

Grandpa's staff also acted. They put what we would need on the long glass table. The corner of my lip was raised. This is exciting. I think. Maybe. I hope.

I will no longer be 707 if I am not that hot. Laird Hedalgo, and I am known as 707: The Hot Detective.

A hot detective that will burn the heart of a woman through a bullet. The hot detective, who is willing to risk his life to solve the crimes.

Chapter 3 Moina

I have carefully observed Mister Caline's body from head to toe. There is nothing special about his body and even his skin. I watched it closely and stared intently. There is nothing more remarkable than its darkening skin due to the effect of the poison on its body.

I stepped closer to my attached case and opened it with great care. It was hard for my colleagues to notice me. Grandpa ordered us nothing, except to observe the corpse. And what I plan to do now is contrary to his command.

Sorry but not sorry, Lolo Borge Hedalgo.

I took the spare syringe I was carrying in my attache case and immediately injected it into Mister Caline's cold body. The corner of my lips lifted when I saw blood inside the syringe I was holding.

I immediately adjusted my equipment when Detective 703, looked at my behavior. He frowned as he looked at me. I gave him a grin which caused him to shake his and go back to his writing.

I could feel the strange nervousness engulfing my entity when I noticed a small object on the head of the corpse. It's a ring with a small diamond on it.

I put the white gloves on my hand and took that thing - the ring. I put it in transparent plastic. My actions are easy, and maybe someone notices my weirdness. We need thorough research about this case that we are facing today.

It is not as easy to solve as the cases we have faced in the past. I do not know what could be the scenario of killing the culprit.

If I look closely at the corpse, there is nothing strange about his body. Except for the tanning of its skin due to the poison. I frowned and then stared at the ring that was now inside the transparent plastic.

Could it have something to do with the death of Mister Caline?

I put it inside my attache case when I noticed Grandpa approaching. His mere stares seemed to make me shiver. Could he saw what I was doing?

"707," he called, trying to get my attention.

I straightened up as I stood and stared at him. I smiled as if nothing had happened. I'm sure even though I haven't done anything yet, Grandpa already knows the flow and content of my mind.

It tapped me on the shoulder and I felt the pressure there. I winced at the pain I felt. "You always disobeyed the rules, 707. You need to take the rules seriously. You must follow the rules, if you do not, it will harm you."

I took off the white gloves I was wearing and then tucked them into my slightly open attache case. "Grandpa, you know me. I am no longer 707 if I wasn't to be as 707."

He took a deep breath and shook his head as I passed. He leaned Mister Caline's head. He stared at its pale face.

I don't know but I felt something strange when I stared at Grandpa's serious face.

"Caline is my best friend, we've been together for a long time. We've always been together since we were kids. I've known him for a long time, ever since. I don't understand why this happened to him. He is a virtuous person, to the point that he will just give all his wealth to those in need, " he aforementioned.

I frowned, "As you said, Grandpa, he has no enemies. How did this happen to him? Why was he poisoned? Where in fact, he is kind. What was that? Does this accidentally happen to him? I thought there was a hidden story, that you do not know, Grandpa. "

He patted me on the shoulder, then stared at me directly. "That's why we need to investigate this case, grandson. I approached you, because I know, that you can find the culprit behind this incident. Please do not disappoint me, especially my best friend Caline. I will not be silent until I can give him justice for his death."

"You can count on it, Grandpa."

He nodded and started walking in the direction of my other colleagues. I was left staring seriously at Mister Caline's cold corpse.

If he had no opponent, it would not have happened to him. But how could this happen to him, when he had no enemies?

There is something wrong with this. Unless he is hiding something from Grandpa. If so, that should be the hint to find the secrets of his death.

I took a small notebook in my attache case and wrote down the developing scenario in my mind. No single event should be missed. If that happens, the outcome of the investigation will be erroneous, and I will not allow that to happen.

I fixed my attache case then looked again at Grandpa and my colleagues talking. I did not call them anymore and I continued walking out of the morgue.

As I was walking down in the hallway of the hospital, I suddenly stopped when I met 706 Kirsten. Her forehead creased.

She looked behind me, where I came from.

"Are you planning to run away again, 707?" she asked, but it is more on the statement.

Her eyes are full of doubt.

I answered back. "I have a bad condition today, 706. So I need to rest. Especially since I had a good night's sleep earlier. Then I have another job at eight (8:00). It's already two (2:00) in the morning, so I have to go. "

It made her laugh. She is irritating!

"I already know what you planning to do, 707. You can no longer manipulate my mind. Don't worry I do not report you to your Grandfather, just include me in your plan. I think I will enjoy it," she teased.

I restrained myself from getting angry with her speech. It makes me pissed.

I like her, but at the same time, I hate her.

"I do not want you to feel sorry for me, Ten. So please, as long as I endure you, do not force me. I do not want you to get involved in this. I can not let that happen," I gently told her.

I could see how she swallowed deeply and turned her eyes in another direction.

I approached her and took her hands and kissed them. "I like you, Ten. So, please. Don't break my heart. Promise me."

Her eyes stared at me dimly. "I promise, Laird. I promise."

*

"Mister Caline's death has been all over the campus. The one with the big shares in your university, have you heard of that, Laird?"

We are here now in Miona's canteen. I'm wearing disguised as geek again. I need to hide my true identity so that no important people in my life will be affected because of my job.

If I have not already said, Miona and I will be graduating next year.

I looked at him with a frown. Suppose I do not know, for it is not obvious. "Huh? I don't know him, why did he die?"

She spilled spaghetti in her mouth before answering me.

She had no proper eating etiquette. S

"I know you already knew, Laird Hedalgo. You are good at mystery or crime thingy. Are you not interested?"

But I was wrong. She knew that I was just pretending to ask her that question earlier.

I laughed, causing some diners in the canteen to look at us with astonishment.

She rebuked me, "Get out of there, Laird. You look like a monster because of your laughter."

"I am sorry, I can't help it," I apologized.

She just shrugged and ignored me.

She ate her spaghetti again and continued.

Moina. I whispered in the back of my mind.

I was stunned and stared at her with intensity.
