The Fiancee Agreement

Lucia stared at her watch as she walked into the famous traditional restaurant on the ground floor of Hotel Ändra, the best hotel in the heart of Seattle.

' Damn! I'm late ' Lucia thought

Everyone kept staring at Lucia as if it was an angel and not a human who had just walked into the restaurant but she didn't mind instead she took to scanning the room for her handsome date.

" There he is, " Lucia muttered to herself when she saw Sid Walker sitting by the window.

Lucia ignored their peering eyes and walked towards her date sitting by the window side where they chose to reserve.

' What a gentleman, he already reserved the table ' Lucia thought to herself.

" I must have kept you waiting"

Lucia said as she approached the man sitting by the window. She took a seat right in front of him.

At first, Liam Henderson thought it was the lady waiter who was stealing glances at him and decided to ignore her but when she sat down, he looked up and surprisingly his boring eyes were met with Lucia's bright eyes.

Liam could not help but acknowledge the beauty of the woman who stood before him, her silky light brown hair rested beautifully on her back, her big brown eyes were beautiful, her collarbone was so straight he could see the alignment of her bones, her pale skin complimented the white dress she wore and her lavender perfume filled his nostrils. She is an epitome of beauty nevertheless Liam saw her as a bother.

" And you are ? " Liam asked coldly

' Punk alert ' Lucia thought.

" Ain't you Sid Walker? "

Lucia was surprised by his response.

" Now you know, shouldn't you get up? " Liam asked arrogantly.

Lucia chuckled, feeling embarrassed.

" Sorry! You're not the one I'm here to meet..." Lucia apologized to Liam despite his rudeness to her.

" If you're sorry then..." Liam signalled her to leave.

" Oh..." Lucia stood up and muttered one last apology for her mistake.

Lucia walked a few meters away from him and tried to text her blind date, she saw an unread message and tapped on it.

' Sorry Lucia something came up I can't make it '

After reading the text message Sid sent her, Lucia wanted the ground to open up and swallow her whole, not only did she just embarrass herself now but Sid won't be coming, what prove did she have to show that she was not trying to seduce the man who's table she had just been at, feeling ashamed Lucia walked out of the restaurant.

As she walked along the road which led to Jada Skylar's house, Lucia couldn't help but recall the face of the handsome but arrogant man she had just met, how boring his eyes were in contrast to his radiant skin, how much control she exerted over herself to resist touching his spikey silky soft jet black hair, his jawline was perfectly chiseled, it felt to Lucia like he was an incarnate of god, only an arrogant version.

Lucia halted on her tracks and let out a scream.

"Jada... Skylar!! "

" So... How was your date? " Jada asked when she saw Lucia standing at the door.

" Jada Skylar!! " Lucia shouted once she entered Jada's house.

She launched at Jada and pushed her on her couch.

" You set me up with that jerk who cancelled on me at the last minute " Lucia fumed but Jada let out a muffled laughter.

Lucia sat on the longest couch Jada had. It was her favorite spot in the well-spaced living room.

Jada is from a wealthy family in Seattle so her house was well decorated with nice sunset paintings and portraits of herself hanging on the exquisite white walls.

At the corner of the large living room was the staircase which led upstairs.

" Awwn... Lucia's mad at me..." Jada mumbled in between laughter but Lucia was not finding anything funny.

" I'm seriously heartbroken and you're laughing "

Lucia said, annoyed.

" Perfect way to celebrate getting a new job " Lucia sulked.

" Let me make it up to you, " Jada said with a smile plastered on her face.

Lucia's face brightened up on hearing Jada's words.

" What ?" Lucia asked curiously

" Tomorrow's night to properly celebrate your new job I'll take you to the Mia gala as my plus one "

Jada said knowing that Lucia was a fan of evening gatherings, especially one like the Mia gala.

Lucia smiled on hearing Jada's words.

" You're not joking right? No take backs? '' Lucia asked with an unserious expression on her face.

" No take backs " Jada assured Lucia.

Lucia squealled and hugged Jada tightly.

" Hearing this right now has totally healed my foul mood " Lucia squealled.

" How bout some wine to celebrate the moment ? " Jada suggested

" Fruit juice...I'll save my tolerance for tomorrow's night " Lucia smirked.

Jada nodded and walked towards the mini bar.

" Lucia..." Jada called Lucia with a serious tone.

" ... "

Lucia turned to look at Jada who is pouring fruit juice into wine goblets.

" When will you move in to live with me? "

Jada asked and gave a goblet to Lucia.

" Do you so badly want me to? " Lucia joked and Jada kissed her teeth.

" Tomorrow " Lucia smiled.

" That reminds me I almost forgot to tell you about what happened to me today..."

Lucia dropped her goblet on the table in their midst and started narrating her encounter with the arrogant man at the restaurant.

" Then what...?" Jada asked in between laughter, tears almost dropping from her eyes.

" Then I tried to call Sid but I saw his message... God I felt disappearing that moment " Lucia continued laughing.

" Was he handsome ? " Jada asked out of the blue

Lucia recalled the way he stared at her, how her eyes never left him.

" Yes..." Lucia said subconsciously.

" But he was also arrogant " Lucia said almost immediately when she realized what she had just said.

" Cover up... " Jada smirked.

Lucia wondered if she would ever meet that man again.

' We probably won't see each other again '

Lucia and Jada's phones chimed from a notification pop up and they checked it.

" What? "

" Light Henderson's mystery woman?

...me? "

Lucia Camden digested the content of the news that popped up on her phone, she looked away from her phone and her eyes met with Jada Skylar's piercing blue eyes, her eyes bearing a lot of questions, Lucia could tell just by looking at her.

Jada stared silently at Lucia before bursting into laughter leaving Lucia confused as hell.

" What's funny? Why are you laughing at me? " Lucia asked confused

' Does she know I'm the one in the picture? ' Lucia asked herself in her subconsciousness.

" Light Henderson has a woman? Impossible..." Jada said confidently, still laughing.

' Thank goodness ' Lucia heaved a huge sigh of relief

Lucia realized Jada had not figured out yet that she was the one in the pictures.

" Why do you think so ? " Lucia played along in order to keep Jada from suspecting her.

" Any woman who can stand his arrogance can go to hell and come out unscathed " Jada replied amidst tears, she had laughed so much that she started crying.

" I agree " Lucia muttered silently

" What? " Jada asked, unable to clearly hear what Lucia said.

" Uh? Nothing... By the way, how do you know him? Is he a celebrity? '' Lucia questioned Jada with curiosity written all over her, judging from the way Jada talked, she must have had close relationship with Light.

" Something like that... We were close in the past but as we grew up things changed I guess " Jada replied feeling nostalgic.

" Must have been bad? " Lucia asked, noticing the mood Jada was in.

" Not really... We ended up cutting ties " Jada replied with a serious face.

Lucia stared at Jada for a while, she wondered what type of relationship Jada had with Light Henderson that made her so bitter when she was reminded of him.

Jada noticed Lucia was staring at her and faked a smile.

" Don't think too much about it... Just pray you never get involved with someone like him " Jada said still smiling but Lucia could tell she was serious.

' That's bad... I didn't just get involved with someone like him... I got involved with the man himself '

" Mm.. " Lucia faked a smile.

Liam Henderson walked out of the bathroom with only a towel strapped around his waist, he cleaned his hair with a towel as memories of Lucia flooded his mind, how she stared at him throughout the time he was bedazzled.

' Why am I thinking of her?

We'll probably never meet again ' Liam concluded.

Liam's phone rang and he checked the caller ID.

' Yao? Why is Yvette Henderson calling me? '

Liam thought as he picked up the phone and accepted the call.

" Yvette Henderson..." Liam said rudely.

" Liam Henderson! " Yvette Henderson shouted

Liam put the phone away from his ear, resisting the urge to hang up on his Yvette.

" Yvette I'm not ready to continue the 'get a wife' conver- " Liam was about to say before Yvette Henderson interrupted him.

" Why didn't you tell me about her? " Yvette Henderson asked excitedly

" About who? "

" Don't play dumb... You shouldn't have gone on a public date if you wanted to play dumb "

Mrs Yvette teased.

" I don't know what you are talking about Yvette... I'll call you later " Liam cut the call and immediately dialed Kyle Harts, his secretary.

" Did you see the news? " Kyle asked over the phone.

" What news? " Liam questioned.

" I'll send it to you " Kyle said and cut the call.

Within a few seconds, a message came in from Kyle.

" What? "

Liam stared at the pictures of Lucia and himself Kyle sent him.

"Light Henderson's mystery woman? " Leicheng read out the caption snickering.

He dropped his phone on the night stand and changed into a nightwear.

He dialed Kyle's number once again.

" Have you seen them? " Kyle asked on receiving the call.

" Wipe it off the internet " Liam deadpanned and cut the call.

He laid on the bed and drifted off to sleep thinking about how Lucia managed to still be a bother to him even though she was not present.

The next morning, Kyle Harts came to pick Liam up .

" Boss I'm in front of your house " Kyle said once Liam picked his call.

" I'm coming down, " Liam replied and hung up.

A minute later Liam came down ready for work, Kyle opened the backseat door for him, and he entered into the car.

Kyle drove off to the Light Empire.

At light empire, the employees lined up in order of rank to welcome Liam Henderson.

" He's here " A lady said and everyone bowed.

Kyle opened the door and Liam Henderson walked in.

" Welcome Mr Henderson " Everyone said in unison.

" This isn't necessary "

Liam whispered to Kyle on noticing how many people had gathered just to welcome him.

" It is boss... Courtesy demands '' Kyle replied immediately.

" He's handsome "

A female employee said and Liam heard her.

" But he has a woman "

Another employee replied and Liam halted on his tracks.

" What's wrong boss? " Kyle asked but Liam did not reply, rather he continued walking until he get to his office.

" Did you clear those pictures? " Liam asked Kyle once they get into the office.

" I tried my best with the news stations I know but it'll take some time to permanently get it off the internet "

Kyle replied.

" Make it faster before Yvette Henderson starts throwing tantrums " Liam Henderson said as he collapsed onto his office chair.

" Has the news reached Mrs Henderson " Kyle asked and Liam nodded.

" I got to know from her, " Liam replied.

" Boss... Why don't you take advantage of this situation and free yourself from Mrs Henderson's troubles? " Kyle asked with a smirk on his face.

Liam raised an eyebrow, he had always known Kyle for being wise but he was also dirty, bad, that was why Liam hired him.

" What? "

Liam asked after a moment.

" Accept the relationship in front of Mrs Henderson and tell her that the woman in the photographs is your fiancée "

Liam stared deeply at Kyle and suddenly bursted into laughter leaving Kyle confused.

" Why are you laughing? " Kyle asked.

" How will your idea work when I don't even know that woman? "

Liam stopped laughing abruptly.

" Just focus on getting rid of that scandal " Liam Henderson continued.

Kyle nodded and turned to leave.

Liam thought for a minute over Kyle's suggestions.

' If this works then Mrs Henderson will be off my neck for a long time but still...

I don't know this woman '

Liam dismissed the thought with a wave of a hand.

' It'll never work '

Liam switched on his laptop and the first notification that popped up was the ' Light Henderson's mystery woman ' news. Liam shut the laptop and dialed Kyle's number.

" Do it faster " He said through gritted teeth and cut the call.

A call came in from Yvette Henderson but Liam declined it.

The phone rang again and he declined it again.

As Liam was about to pick up a file, another call came in.

Angrily, he picked up the phone

" Yvette Herde- "

" Liam Henderson " A feminine voice said from the other end of the phone.

" Maria Lewis," Liam said softly.

" I prefer Mia, " Maria chuckled.

" ... "

" I guess you're thinking why I called you... well I'm hosting a gala tonight " Maria continued.

" And? " Liam muttered.

" A lot of people will be there, " Maria responded.

" So? "

" I'm hoping you'll be there too " Maria said in a whisper.

Liam kept quiet for a while, for some reasons Maria Lewis had always been someone he could never refuse even now that they are broken up.

" I'll try, " Liam said after a while.

" Thank you... By the way congratulations on getting a new girlfriend bring her along with you "

Maria said and hung up.

" New girlfriend my foot " Liam scoffed.

" This one's nice, " Jada said as she checked out Lucia.

" I don't like it, it's too... " Lucia tried to find words to describe the dress she was wearing as she stared at the mirror.

" Extra? " Jada guessed.

" Extra " Lucia nodded and a chuckle escaped her lips out of excitement. She was still finding it hard to believe that she was going to an elite gala hosted by the best fashion designer in America.

" That does not matter there are going to be top stars at that gala you don't wanna go looking like a Bishop " Jada teased.

" Even still...

Errr... How bout this " Lucia picked up a simple but grunge aesthetic gown.

" Eww... Go try it on " Jada faked irritation.

Lucia walked into the dressing room and came out in a minute changed into the gown she was holding.

" Honestly I've got to admit this dress does grip the areas well " Jada smirked.

" Shut up " Lucia snorted.

Lucia checked out the dress in front of a mirror, she couldn't help but admire the gown.

A black strapless tight mid-thigh length pencil gown with flower patterned lace.

" I like this one, it's simple... Yet cute " Lucia smiled looking at herself in the mirror.

" We'll go with this, " Jada said to the female attendant.

Lucia went back into the dressing room to get changed into her normal clothes.

" What next? " Lucia asked as she walked out of the dressing room, she gave the dress to the female attendant who packed it up for them.

" Shoes " Jada replied

" We don't need to buy those, I have a comfortable pair of shoes at home " Lucia waved her hand in Jada's face.

" I only know of three shoes Camden...

...Flats flats and a sneaker " Jada smirked and dragged Lucia to the shoes section. Jada looked around the racks and her eyes met a perfect black fish mouth high heels.

" That " Jada smirked, pointing to the shoe that captured her heart.

" Ok " Lucia replied exhausted

" Won't you try it on? " Jada asked

" It looks perfectly my size, " Lucia answered.

" Pack that " Jada pointed at the shoe as she spoke to the attendant.

" Yes ma'am " The attendant nodded and packed it up.

" Let's go eat something, " Jada suggested with a wide smile on her face.

" Are you not going to pay? " Lucia asked surprised

" Oh... I own this place " Jada smiled mischievously.

Lucia was shocked to hear what Jada said

' Just how wealthy are you Jada Skylar '

Lucia wondered.

" Let's go " Jada dragged Lucia out of the mall.

MIA GALA

Reporters filled the event as top stars and guests began to arrive, light flickered as cameras clicked at the red carpets.

Jada Skylar's driver, Parker Smith pulled up at the venue of the Gala. He opened the door of the backseat and held it.

Jada came out of the car and looked at Lucia who was still inside the car deep in thought.

Jada snapped her fingers on Lucia's face.

" Hey Barbie, where are you? " Jada teased.

" I don't fit in here " Lucia said in thoughts

" It's not about fitting in, it's about knowing someone who's in and luckily for you...

You know me " Jada gave Lucia a reassuring smile.

Lucia smiled back at Jada and came out of the car.

" You ready? " Jada asked Lucia and she nodded in reply.

They both walked towards the hall where the Gala was being held.

Jada showed her invitation to the man who was standing at the entrance of the hall and he ushered them in.

Lucia stared in daze at the beautiful decorations around her, the exquisite and assorted decors were pleasant to look at and Lucia could not find it the words to describe them.

" This is really beautiful, " Lucia whispered to Jada.

" Truly " Jada replied.

" Jada Skylar... " A voice called from behind.

Jada and Lucia turned back to see who it was.

" Lee Stone " Jada seemed surprised to see Lee.

" Fancy seeing you here, " Lee smiled.

" You too, " Jada smiled back.

" Lee Stone " Lee said to Lucia and stretched out his hand for a handshake

" Lucia Camden " Lucia shook his hand.

" I must comment you're beautiful " Lee complimented Lucia.

" Thank you, " Lucia replied with a smile.

" Let's go meet the others and take pictures, " Lee said to Jada.

" Mm " Jada nodded and turned to Lucia.

" Do you want to come with me? " Jada asked Lucia not to leave her alone.

" Don't worry about me " Lucia smiled and Jada nodded, Lucia nodded at Lee and he left with Jada.

Lucia stared at the people around admiring the dresses they wore.

" You must say I'm beautiful my foot compared to the people here. I look like a beggar " Lucia mumbled to herself.

A waiter passing by with a tray offered her a glass of wine but she refused it.

Lucia walked aimlessly around the hall feeling bored, the classical music playing seemed like sedative to her, she walked out of the hall feeling stuffy and isolated since she knew no one.

" I got excited for nothing once Jada left me I basically stopped existing " Lucia sighed dejectedly.

" Right Jada's still in there she must be looking for me " Lucia remembered Jada.

She tried to go into the venue but was stopped by a bodyguard.

" Your invitation? " The man asked with a stern voice.

Lucia realized that the man who was there earlier on had switched shifts.

" I'm here with a friend she's inside " Lucia tried to explain but the man refused to listen to her.

' Let me call Jada '

Lucia thought but realized she had given her phone to Jada to keep for her as her bag was too small.

' What do I do? ' Lucia thought for a while.

" Please I left my phone inside the hall " Lucia pleaded but the bodyguard didn't budge.

" She's with me, " A voice said from behind.

Lucia turned to look at the person who was talking.

' Light? ' Lucia's eyes widened in surprise.

" So we meet again, " Liam Henderson smiled.
