The air in the grand hall of the Global Tech Summit hummed with my latest triumph, an AI capable of predicting global market trends with terrifying precision. Then I saw him, Liam Thorne, in the front row, his arrogant smirk a chilling reminder of a past I thought I'd buried. I' d poured my genius into his company, Titan Corp, building his vision, only for him to dismantle my own company with my tech, gloating as he ruined me. "My ex-partner, Sarah, spent years building this company, only for you to swoop in and take over. She quietly left and died heartbroken. You deserve this.

I' ve been waiting for this day since you first shook my hand."

He stole my IP, crippled my business, and left me with crushing debt and public disgrace.

Why had I ever trusted him? How could such brilliance be twisted into such cruelty?

This time, there would be no mistakes. Reborn from the ashes of my past, I stood on that stage, ready to write my own future.

Chapter 1

The air in the grand hall of the Global Tech Summit was thick with anticipation.

It was the final keynote, the one everyone was waiting for.

Ava Reynolds stood at the center of the stage, a lone figure in front of a massive screen that showed a swirling, complex neural network. That network was her life's work, an AI so powerful it could predict global market trends with frightening accuracy. It was the future.

And in the front row, five men who wanted to own that future were watching her. Five of the most powerful tech CEOs on the planet.

One of them was Liam Thorne.

Seeing him made a cold, familiar ache spread through Ava's chest. In another life, a life that ended in ruin, she had chosen him. She had loved him. She poured every ounce of her genius into his company, Titan Corp, building his vision, making him an unstoppable titan of the industry.

The memory was sharp, a shard of glass in her mind. The day he took everything. He stood in the hollowed-out offices of her own company, a company he had just dismantled with her own technology. He had gloated, his voice smooth and cruel.

"My ex-partner, Sarah, spent years building this company, only for you to swoop in and take over. She quietly left and died heartbroken. You deserve this. I' ve been waiting for this day since you first shook my hand."

He had stolen her intellectual property, crippled her business, and left her with nothing but public disgrace and crushing debt. She had been reborn from that moment, waking up months earlier, right back here at the beginning. At the summit.

This time, there would be no mistakes.

Ava' s eyes swept over the five CEOs. She let her gaze pass over Liam Thorne, his arrogant smirk already in place, as if her choosing him was a foregone conclusion. She focused on the other four men. Marcus Vance of "Nexus Dynamics," Ben Carter of "Stratos Solutions," Omar Hassan of "Helios Innovations," and Kenji Tanaka of "Quantum Leap."

She took a breath and spoke into the microphone, her voice clear and steady, ringing through the silent hall.

"Thank you all for being here."

She paused, letting the tension build.

"Five companies have made offers for my AI. I have reviewed them all."

Liam leaned forward, a confident smile playing on his lips. He was ready to ascend the stage.

"I have decided not to accept any of them."

A collective gasp went through the audience. The CEOs looked stunned. Liam' s smile vanished, replaced by a flicker of disbelief.

"Instead," Ava continued, her voice gaining strength, "I have a counter-proposal. For Mr. Vance, Mr. Carter, Mr. Hassan, and Mr. Tanaka."

She pointedly left Liam' s name out.

"You four prepare your pitches. I will not sell my AI. I will be your lead innovator. I will rotate through each of your companies, one season at a time, dedicating my full attention to revolutionizing your sector. We will build the future together, not as a monopoly, but as a collaborative force."

For a moment, there was complete silence. Then, the hall erupted in murmurs. The four chosen CEOs were on their feet, their faces a mixture of shock and dawning excitement. They understood the offer. Access to the greatest mind of their generation, not as a one-time purchase, but as a long-term partner.

They scrambled, pulling out phones, talking urgently to their aides. They were heading for their private jets, already preparing their pitches. The game had changed, and they were in it.

Ava gave a small nod and turned to leave the stage.

Before she could take a step, a hand clamped down on her wrist. Hard.

"Ava Reynolds," Liam Thorne hissed, his voice low and full of contempt. "I don't have time for your little games."

His eyes were cold, furious. He couldn't believe she had publicly humiliated him.

The summit host, a tech journalist named David, rushed over, his face pale and beaded with sweat. "Mr. Thorne, please," he whispered, "You don't want to do this. Alienating Ms. Reynolds right now could bring disaster to your company!"

"Nonsense!" Liam shoved Ava away from him.

She stumbled backward, losing her balance. The journalist, David, lunged and caught her just before she fell.

"Don't be angry, Mr. Thorne," a soft, sweet voice interjected.

A woman stepped forward from the crowd. It was Chloe, a former colleague of Ava's, a woman she once considered a friend. Chloe looked at Liam with wide, adoring eyes.

"Ava can be a bit... ambitious, given her humble beginnings. She probably doesn't understand the pressure you're under. I'll apologize for her."

Liam' s anger seemed to soften as he looked at Chloe. He smirked, reaching out to cup her chin.

"You're too kind. Others are trying to steal your position, and you're still here defending the person who gets in your way."

Chloe blushed, a perfect picture of innocence. "Oh, Mr. Thorne, don't tease me, your silly girl."

She then turned to Ava, her expression a careful mask of pity. "Ava, you're the hope of the tech world now. I won't compete with you for Mr. Thorne's attention. I'm happy just to stay by his side, even as a junior assistant."

Liam pulled her close, his arm wrapping around her waist possessively. "My dear, you're destined for greatness. No one is worthy of serving you."

He glared at Ava, his voice dripping with condescension.

"For Chloe's sake, I'll overlook your little stunt. Since destiny, or whatever you want to call it, has chosen you, I'll give you a position at Titan Corp."

He paused for effect.

"But Chloe will be the lead innovator. You'll be a nominal co-lead. A title on a press release."

He lowered his voice, a cold edge returning to it. "Don't think for a second that I'll ever truly work with you. Only Chloe will get my full backing. My resources, my trust... it all goes to her."

Chloe leaned into his chest, feigning shyness. "Chloe and I are announcing our partnership in six days. We'll be generous and include your name in the press release. Between now and then, our PR team will teach you how to behave."

Ava watched their little performance. The anger she felt when he pushed her had faded, replaced by an almost comical sense of disbelief. They were so predictable. So consumed by their own drama.

She simply raised an eyebrow.

"Mr. Thorne," Ava interrupted, her voice perfectly calm. "When did I say I would partner with you?"

Liam froze.

"Aren't you devoted to Chloe?" Ava's lips curved into a small, knowing smirk as she looked at the woman draped in his arms. "How can you partner with two lead innovators at once? Won't that upset her?"

Chapter 2

Liam' s face darkened.

"What did you say?"

"It's a simple question," Ava said, her tone light. "You just declared Chloe your one and only lead innovator. You promised her your full backing. So why offer me a 'nominal' position? It seems... inefficient. And a little insulting to Chloe, don't you think?"

Chloe' s adoring expression faltered for a second. She shot a quick, sharp look at Ava before pasting her smile back on.

"Oh, Ava, you're misunderstanding," Chloe said, her voice dripping with fake sweetness. "Mr. Thorne is just being generous. He knows you have nowhere else to go. He' s trying to save you from embarrassing yourself further."

She pressed herself closer to Liam.

"I don't mind at all. I know my place. If it helps Mr. Thorne achieve his goals, I'd be happy to have you on the team. I can mentor you."

Liam' s ego swelled at her words. He looked down at Chloe with pride, then back at Ava with renewed arrogance.

"You see? This is loyalty. This is grace," he said, stroking Chloe' s hair. "Something you know nothing about. I'm giving you one last chance, Ava. Take the offer, or you'll be finished in this industry before you even start your little tour."

He took a step toward her, his posture threatening. "Don't test me."

Suddenly, a loud clap of thunder echoed, rattling the glass walls of the convention center. The lights flickered for a moment. Outside, the sky had turned a dark, angry gray.

Liam paused, momentarily distracted.

In that brief second, Ava' s phone buzzed in her pocket. She glanced down. A message from Marcus Vance, CEO of Nexus Dynamics.

Plane is fueled. My team is ready to present our pitch on the flight. Ready when you are. - MV

A quiet confirmation. Her new future was already beginning.

Liam noticed her glance at the phone. "Who is that? One of your new 'partners'?" he sneered. "They'll drop you the second they realize you're just a flash in the pan. They can't offer you what I can."

"She' s always had so many... private connections," Chloe added, her voice just loud enough for those nearby to hear. "It' s how she got ahead in the first place, wasn't it?"

The insinuation was clear. That Ava had used more than her intellect to get where she was. In her past life, a comment like that would have devastated her. Now, it was just noise.

Ava ignored them both. She looked directly at Chloe, her expression unreadable.

"You know," Ava said, her voice dropping to a confidential tone. "This whole situation reminds me of that project we worked on in Zurich. Do you remember?"

Chloe' s smile tightened. "I'm not sure what you mean."

"Oh, I think you do," Ava said softly, a ghost of a smile on her lips. "The server room. The one with the faulty backup logs. The ones that just happened to disappear right before the internal audit."

Ava held her gaze. She didn't say anything else. She didn't need to.

The color drained from Chloe' s face.

She remembered. Of course, she remembered. It was her first major betrayal of Ava, a small act of sabotage she thought had gone unnoticed, a secret she thought was buried forever.

Until now.
