Chapter 1 PROLOGUE

In the silence of the night where humans are lulled into flower sleep. A man was sitting leaning against a tree branch with his eyes closed. No, he's not sleeping like humans in general, because he's not human. Rather, a pureblood vampire.

His name is Rowan Dawson. The son of the leader of the Dawson clan is currently contemplating alone in the forest.

His keen sense of smell suddenly picked up the scent of someone approaching. From the smell of his blood, Rowan knew who had come to harass him.

"I thought you were here."

Rowan snorted, too lazy to open his eyes just to serve someone who always knew how to unsettle him.

"Open your eyes, Rowan. Let's talk. I've heard of your troubles. You must need someone to talk to right now, am I right?"

Rowan hissed as the person naughtily tugged at his ear, forcing Rowan to open his eyes, glaring sharply at his annoying twin brother, Roul Dawson.

"Just one day does not bother me, can not?"

Roul chuckled, "Can't. We're twins. Joy and sorrow must be borne together.

Rowan groaned as he looked away when Roul suddenly brought his face closer.

"Hey, is it true that dad set you up with Rose?"

Rowan's hands clenched, he was lazy to answer so he ignored the question.

"Just accept it. She's a beauty, a pureblood vampire too. If you marry her, it's the same as maintaining the continuity of the pure blood lineage."

"Did father tell you to persuade me to marry Rose? You became an ally of father, I see."

Roul laughed, seeing his twin who was always cold and cool, now pouting cutely, he thought this was a rare thing.

Seriously, are you accusing me of that? You know I'm not close to dad. Father's favorite child is you, not me."

Rowan turned his face away and looked seriously at his twin's blood-red irises, who had always put on a playful face, now turned serious. Then he let out a tired breath.

"I told you, don't say that. Father loves us both."

"I don't know, I doubt it." Roul too leaned back against a tree, next to his twin. "I think father will appoint you as a potential successor in a moment."

Hearing what Roul said, which he thought was ridiculous, Rowan gave a sharp glare. Who wants the position of a clan leader? Rowan never wanted that. The only one who deserves to occupy that position is only Roul. Yes, his twin who was born a few minutes earlier than him.

"Nonsense. Father will appoint you as a potential successor."

"No. I think..." Roul clamped his mouth again at Rowan's glare.

"In this world, only you are fit to be the future clan leader."

And Roul could only smile slightly hearing his brother's narrative. "Actually..." Roul paused while looking straight ahead. "....I think so too."

Rowan's gruff snort floated into the air. And in the next second, both of them burst into laughter.

"I heard Rose begging father to be betrothed to you." Roul changed the subject after their laughter died down.

Lazy to discuss this, Rowan shrugged his shoulders, not caring.

"Just marry her. You can't run away from her anyway. She's obsessed with you. She won't stop chasing you until she gets you."

"I don't love her," Rowan answered, explaining why he didn't want to accept the match.

"Love?" muttered Roul. "Does a cold and stiff vampire like you know love? Do you really like women? It seems impossible. It would make sense if you were alone for life or..."

Rowan squinted at the feeling Roul was about to taunt him again.

"... Gradually you will become a gay lover."

Growling with disapproval, Rowan lunged at Roul intending to bite him. However, Roul, who knew Rowan's character very well, could already guess it so he shot quickly before Rowan landed his sharp fangs.

"I will kill you, Roul Dawson. I'm still normal, stupid!"

And the togetherness of the two twins ended with a chase action. Yes, that was how close the two of them had been in the past.

***

For Rowan, his long life, because he was born as an Immortal, was not a gift but a disaster. Tens of years have passed since he was appointed as a candidate for clan leader. He still can't forget that worst day until now.

The day the clan leader announced publicly the appointment of Rowan Dawson as his potential successor.

Rowan never wanted the position. He always supports Roul who will occupy it. However, it seemed that disappointment had darkened Roul's eyes so that he thought his twin had betrayed him secretly. In the end, he raised the war flag.

Unable to accept that he was not appointed as a candidate for clan leader, Roul rebelled. Gather troops to attack clans, until the war between brothers is inevitable. Ended with the defeat of the rebels.

When Roul was punished by being removed from his peerage along with his small family. Switch gets the lowest level status which requires him to become a slave to the nobility. Rowan never accepted the sentence imposed on Roul and his family. However, the laws of the vampire nation for rebels cannot be tolerated, Rowan realizes that he is unable to help his twin.

The relationship between the two twins has never been close since the tragedy. They became enemies, even though only Roul thought so, and Rowan... no, he had always considered Roul as his brother. As the closest person.

Now Rowan has become the leader of the clan, after the death of his father. Take on the responsibility of taking care of unruly clan members. Passing on the pure-blood lineage became another of his obligations.

And today, Rowan was carrying out his duties as clan leader. Go alone to a village so close to the Dawson Clan's territory. Tussand is the name of the small village. The village head requested so that they could discuss straightening out a complicated problem.

Rowan had expected that the village head would ask for this. Requesting a peace treaty so that vampires and humans can live side by side. The reason the head of the village proposed this agreement was that the villagers had always been easy prey for the vampires from the Dawson Clan.

He doesn't want meaningless wars to occur, also because his little heart feels sorry for seeing humans who are scared when they see him set foot in this village. Rowan realized that to humans, vampires seemed to be mere monsters of prey. Finally, Rowan accepted the peace agreement.

A ban on entering the Tussand village was made. Making the forest a border area between the two areas, it is forbidden for the Dawson Clan vampires or the Tussand villagers to visit. The peace that everyone dreams of, can finally be felt.

However, who would have thought that there were only humans who dared to break the rules? Or maybe it's because the laws that govern humans aren't as strict and cruel as the laws of the vampire nation, so there are humans who dare to enter dangerous areas like this forbidden forest.

Rowan watches silently as a girl enters the forbidden forest. At first, wanting to make sure none of his clan members broke the rules, he found a Tussand villager who did.

Rowan was furious, wanting to teach the girl a lesson for daring to enter this forbidden forest. However...

His heart beat fast when he saw the girl's face. A beautiful human girl with long flowing hair. The human girl with the scent of blood tortured Rowan so much. The strong desire to pounce and drink the girl's blood overflowed Rowan. However, when he saw the girl's innocent face, Rowan could never do it.

Day after day passed, and the girl did not know the word deterrent. She continued to visit the forbidden forest. Sometimes shouting 'Mr. Vampire.' Rowan knew he was the girl she meant.

I do not know when Rowan used to see the arrival of the girl. His heart warmed every time watching her from a distance. There is a desire to approach, but he always undoes it because he is aware of their differences. Vampires and humans can't be together.

And when the girl finally gave up because she never came to the forbidden forest again. Rowan couldn't do anything but try to forget his feelings for having fallen in love with a human girl he knew named Cleo Huston.

Rowan's attempt to forget Cleo is by marrying Rose, whom he has always rejected. The fruit of that marriage, Rowan and Rose had two children. Nick Dawson and Niki Dawson.

Rowan thought that after being married and having children, his love for his wife would grow. Not, Cleo's face always shadowed his mind.

Decades have passed since meeting Cleo, Rowan tries not to think about it anymore. But... why does fate seem to be playing tricks on him?

One afternoon, when he was patrolling the forbidden forest. Once again Rowan finds a human girl who dares to break the rules.

The girl ... similar to Cleo, Rowan choked up. Why did Cleo come back into his life? So, what should Rowan do now, when the presence of the girl who resembles Cleo has awakened a hidden side he's been desperately holding back?

Damn it, he couldn't hold back any longer. And that was the day that Rowan Dawson's grave sin began. A grave sin that would be fatal to his clan, the Dawson Clan.

Chapter 2 Forbidden Forest

The sky was clear, with blue clouds that floated above each other adding to its beauty. The birds fly as if welcoming the warmth of the sun. The beetles circled the flowers as if they didn't care about the two humans watching them.

In a garden filled with beautiful blooming flowers, a young couple sat enjoying the beauty of this nature. They were sitting in a long chair overlooking the garden. The woman, known as Clara Huston, rested her head on the broad chest of her lover, known as Maxy Walter. The wind caressing her face, made Clara occasionally close her eyes. The soothing scent of her lover seemed to be a sleeping flower for her. While Maxy, who realized that Clara was asleep on his chest, gently caressed his flawless girl's smooth face. Get rid of the hair that hinders her beauty.

"Ugghh... sorry Max, I fell asleep. It's very comfortable here," Clara said with a blush on her face, making Maxy unable to resist kissing her. Slowly but surely he brought his lips to her face and...

CUP

A warm and soft kiss landed right on Clara's forehead, adding a blush to her face.

"It's getting late, we better go home. I also have to accompany my mother to buy some cloth for our wedding later." Clara pursed her lips looking unhappy to hear they had to part ways when she was still enjoying their time together. Exhaling slowly, she finally smiled at the man who always made her comfortable when she was beside him. Having a lover, ahh... err, means having a fiancé who is so perfect like Maxy, there isn't a single woman who doesn't think that she is a lucky woman.

Maxy Walter, a son from a well-known family in their village. Tussand village that's the name of their village. In a prosperous and peaceful village, all the inhabitants always maintain harmony with each other. Apart from that, he is a man who has a handsome face and a kind heart that cannot be doubted. He is a romantic and caring man, making Clara fall in love with him with all her heart.

"I love you," she said, which made Maxy flinch for a moment before he finally showed his charming smile.

"I love you more, Clara," he said and he hugged him tightly as if he was afraid that if he let go he would lose her.

They hugged each other for a long time until they were forced to separate themselves when they remembered the activities they had to go through today.

Hand in hand they walked toward the girl's house.

"You have to take care of your health. Remember, in two months you will be my wife," whispered Maxy right in Clara's ear when they arrived in front of her house.

"I should have said those words to you. You're the one who often eats late, you can't be like that. You have to take care of your health," replied the girl with a serious look.

"Okay, I understand. Now come inside," Maxy ordered, which Clara nodded in response. She waved at Maxy just before she stepped into her door.

Inside her house... Clara walked in occasionally whistling happily remembering the happiness she was feeling. Of course, she was very happy considering that in two months she would marry the man she loved so much. At first, Clara intended to go to her room. However, stopped when she passed a room. She discouraged herself and decided to take a quick look at the state of the person who was the owner of the room.

She was shocked when she did not find the person in her bed. The bed looked messy which indicated a moment ago someone was lying there. Anxiety began to grip her but faded when she saw the figure sitting in a chair right on the balcony of the room. Smiling briefly, she approached the person.

"Grandma, what are you doing here? Go back to lying down, it's so hot here," she said while kneeling in front of that person who was none other than her grandmother. Her grandmother, who still looks beautiful even though she is already seven in her head, shows how beautiful she was when she was young. Maybe Clara's beauty was inherited from her grandmother. Many people who know her grandmother's younger years say that Clara's face is very similar to hers. However, it's a shame that this beautiful grandmother always looks pale and weak because of an illness she has suffered for quite a long time, making Clara constantly worry about the condition of her beloved grandmother.

"When I see sunlight, it always reminds me of that person," said the grandmother, who is known as Cleo Huston.

"Hmm ... remember who? Grandpa huh?" Clara became interested in the direction of their conversation, making her think about accompanying her grandmother for a moment.

Cleo shook her head slowly with her gaze still fixed on the sky.

"If not Grandfather, then who? Could it be Grandma's first love, huh?" At first, Clara only intended to tease, but Cleo's reaction with a faint smile made her realize that her guess was right.

"So it's Grandma's first love? Tell me, Grandma. I'm curious," she said cheerfully while holding Cleo's wrinkled hand.

"Only your mother has ever heard of this story, it seems I also have to tell it to you." Her voice was low but still heard clearly in Clara's ears. She stroked Clara's head gently, causing a feeling of comfort to spread all over her body, with just this touch Clara could feel how much her grandmother loved her.

"Back then... years ago when I was your age. This village was once visited by a very charming man. I've never seen such a handsome man in my life. His hair is as black as the night, his irises are as red as blood, his skin is white as porcelain, his gaze is sharp like an eagle, and his body is tall, straight, and athletic as if all he has is the true form of perfection." Cleo paused the story, Clara gulped her saliva and started to feel enthusiastic about hearing her grandmother's story.

"I fell in love at first sight with him. However, it's a shame I can't be with him." Cleo lowered her head, sadness was visible in her eyes which had been sparkling since earlier because of talking about her first love.

"Why can't you two be together? Did Grandma get arranged so you can't be with him?" Clara guessed that Cleo only shook her head in response.

"He's not human." Clara gasped this time with wide eyes.

"N-Not a human, is he a ghost?" Again Clara tried to guess and for the second time, Cleo just shook her head.

"He's a blood-sucking creature that people usually call a vampire." Not only stunning, now Clara was shocked so that she didn't realize she was standing up from her position which had been kneeling in front of her grandmother.

"I-I've heard rumors about vampires. But from what I hear they are very terrible monsters. Their appearance is very ugly and they do not hesitate to kill humans." Cleo just smiled faintly at that.

"Yes, there is nothing wrong with the rumors. The monster they were talking about was indeed a Vampire. More precisely humans are turned into vampires, but they can't control their thirst for blood so they turn into killing machines. That man was different, he was a pure-blood vampire, a noble vampire whose family members were said to have beautiful faces like gods. And yes, I believe it after seeing that man who possesses a handsomeness unmatched by any human." Clara knelt in front of her grandmother again and held her wrinkled hand.

"He came to this village because actually, this village is still part of his territory. At that time the Village Head tried to discuss and take a peaceful path with him. As a result, an agreement was made. He allowed the people of this village to occupy this village, and the forbidden forest was used as the boundary line of this village and his territory. This agreement is quite detrimental to the villagers. However, in the forest, many kinds of trees can be used as a source of livelihood. Some many plants and animals can be used as food." Cleo paused again, but a smile tugged at her lips making Clara even more curious to hear the rest of the story.

"That forest became a forbidden forest, no one dared to go near it. Especially because there were rumors that said the man often visited the forest. I who was blinded by love finally took a reckless action. Several times I sneaked into the forest for one purpose only... to meet him."

"Then did Grandma manage to meet him?" Cleo shook her head and a sad look returned to her face.

"Unfortunately he never appeared in front of me. Finally, I gave up and never went to that forest again. Then I met your grandfather and eventually married him. But even now when I see the sunlight, I always think of that man."

"Why is that, Grandma?" Cleo smiled slightly before she finally let out her low voice again.

"Because vampires can't stand sunlight, their skin will burn if exposed to sunlight, therefore they will only appear when night falls." Clara gave a short oh to hear it.

"It's a shame we are forbidden from entering that forest, even though I heard that there are plants that can cure various diseases growing in that forest." I don't know how many times Clara was stunned to hear her grandmother's words.

"Is it true that the plant can cure various diseases?" she asked enthusiastically.

"Not only disease but serious injuries can be cured with that plant."

"What is the name of the plant, Grandma?" Cleo was stunned and looked like she was thinking or maybe she was remembering something she had forgotten.

"I don't know ... Grandma doesn't know her name," she answered.

"Then the characteristics of the plant, does Grandma know about it?"

"I've heard from the rumors of the villagers, the plant is in the shape of a very beautiful flower with its petals being deep purple and smells very good. It even smells better than roses," she explained, which for some reason made Clara's eyes light up.

"That's enough. Let's end this conversation. Grandma wants to sleep and you also help your mother prepare food for dinner." Clara suddenly looked at the clock that was perched beautifully on the bedroom wall, then pursed her lips before long.

"It's only 3 pm, Grandma. It's still a long time until dinner time arrives. All right, let me help you lie down." Clara helped Cleo up from her chair. By supporting her she helped Cleo lay down on the bed.

"Sleep well, Grandma. I will deliver food to Grandma when dinner time comes," she said cheerfully which Cleo replied with a warm smile.

Clara returned to her room, she lay down on the soft bed and for some reason, the story from her grandmother kept flashing in her mind. Not a story about a handsome vampire, but about a medicine that can cure various diseases. She thought if she managed to get the plant, then her grandmother's disease would be cured.

Feeling doubtful for a moment considering that the forest is forbidden to visit, Clara finally got up from her sleep. She loved her grandmother very much and had decided she would go to the forbidden forest to find the plant. The time was still in the afternoon, it would still take 2 hours before the sky would turn dark. This a good sign considering that creatures called vampires will only appear at nightfall. Clara was desperate to sneak away to the forbidden forest which is said to be inhabited by blood-sucking creatures called vampires.

The forest is not too far away, it only takes about 20 minutes, Clara arrives in front of the forest. Clara shuddered just looking at the forest from outside. The cold wind that blew from deep in the dense forest made the hairs on her neck prickle. However, for the sake of her beloved grandmother, she boldly began to walk into the forest.

Dark ... maybe that's the first word that describes the state of the forest. It was so quiet there that even the sound of insects could be heard by Clara's ears. The towering trees with lots of wild bushes added to the horror of the forest. However, that didn't make Clara waver in her decision to find this legendary medicinal plant.

She darted her gaze around the forest to find a plant that matched the characteristics her grandmother had mentioned.

"Where are the medicinal plants?" She muttered while hugging her own body because of the cold that she could barely endure.

"The plant resembles a purple flower and smells very good. Oh, come on where are the herbs?" She muttered again talking to herself.

Wussshhh

A sudden gust of wind blew and Clara's eye caught something flashing quickly right behind her. Clara immediately looked behind her, but nothing ... she didn't find anyone behind her. Even though she was starting to feel scared, Clara resumed her footsteps.

Wussshhh

Again ... the wind was blowing again and a flash of it flashed back quickly caught by the tail of Clara's eye.

"Who's that?!!" she shouted in a voice trembling with fear.

Her eyes started to water, she was starting to get scared at this point. She focused her vision on the back and sides ignoring the front. When she finally turned her head towards the front, a sudden feeling of sleep overtook her and in the midst of her dimming consciousness, she caught sight of the figure of a person clad in black standing in front of her. After that, she no longer knew what had happened to her.

Chapter 3 The Beginning of Suffering Part 1

Clara blinked, adjusting her vision to the sunlight that hit her irises. She looked around and found herself in an unfamiliar room. She rushed to her feet.

"Uukkhh ...," she groaned spontaneously when she felt pain and tenderness right in the area around her groin.

"Aw, what happened to me? Why does it hurt so much?" Her muttering which of course only she could hear because there was no one else in the room. Slowly she tried to walk, but her attention was distracted when she saw a purple flower lying not far from the door. Seeing the plant, she also remembered the incident she experienced when she intended to look for the plant in the forest. But strangely she didn't remember anything after that, she didn't even remember why she was in that room that seemed so foreign to her.

Clara took the plant with a twinkle on her face and walked unsteadily out of the room. Once outside, Clara finally realized that she had fallen asleep in a hut not too far from the forbidden forest. She thought maybe she was attacked by a wild animal in the forest and someone had saved her life. She just tried to think positively about this strange event that she experienced.

Step by step she waded until she arrived in front of her house. She ran into her house ignoring the pain she felt.

However, her steps stopped when she saw many people gathered in her house. People dressed in black with their faces filled with grief and sorrow.

"Clara, where have you been, girl? It's been three days since you disappeared, we were really worried about you." A middle-aged woman who looked beautiful, said so when she saw Clara's figure. The figure of a woman who is none other than Clara's biological mother.

"Three days I disappeared," Clara muttered in disbelief.

"Yeah, where have you been for the past three days?" Clara didn't say anything, her eyes were still blank. Then she raised her right hand that was holding the legendary medicinal herb, looking at it made her mother gasp in shock. She knew what herb her daughter was holding because her mother, who was none other than Cleo Huston, had once told her about this magical herb.

"You... did you go to the forbidden forest to look for this plant?!" Asked her mother snapping a little. Clara just nodded.

"It's for Grandma," she answered sadly, seeming to realize what was going on in her house after she saw a large photo of her grandmother sitting on a table with a bouquet around it. Clara could no longer hold back her tears.

"Grandmother is resting in peace now. She won't be in pain anymore." The medicinal plants that she had been holding in her hands were now drooping on the floor, her mother picked them up realizing that they were very valuable.

"When did Grandma die?"

"This morning. Her funeral has just finished," explained her mother, who succeeded in making Clara's body limp. Her struggle was in vain, she was too late to save her grandmother.

***

One month has passed since the incident in the forest. Clara always thought about what had happened to her, but seeing that there was nothing strange about her body, she decided to stop thinking about it.

She also decided to stop crying over her grandmother's departure, after almost a month she often spent time in her grandmother's room because she could not accept the fact that her grandmother was gone forever. She realized that it was time to rise from her grief, especially considering that she was only one month away from getting married.

"Clara! Maxy is waiting for you. Come out quickly, are you still dressed up inside?" Her mother's voice made Clara realize that she was making up in her room. Today she had promised to go on a date with her fiancé. These past few days Clara felt that her face was very pale, so she decided to apply a little makeup to cover it up. Though usually, she does not like to dress up.

After feeling her appearance was perfect, she went out of the room to meet her beloved man.

A smile tugged at Clara's lips when her gaze met her male gaze.

"Today you look amazing," Maxy said, which of course made Clara's beautiful face blush.

"Are you ready to create beautiful memories today?" Clara just nodded, then they walked away holding hands. Making both of Clara's parents see her blush and at the same time relieved to know that their relationship looked fine and more romantic. However, for Clara's father, his daughter's marriage is something important. Maxy comes from a well-known family in the village of Tussand, even though Clara's family is quite well-known, according to him, if the two prominent families unite, then they will become a big family that all villagers respect.

Clara and Maxy decided to go to their favorite place, none other than a garden whose beauty always managed to hypnotize them. In a moment they will arrive at the park, but something strange happened.

In his hand, Maxy felt Clara's hand was very cold and suddenly her body shook. Maxy swiftly restrained her and her action was spot on when Clara almost fell if Maxy didn't catch her in time.

The make-up that adorned Clara's face was unable to hide her increasingly pale face, which made Maxy anxious to see her.

"What happened to you? If you're sick, you should refuse a date from me," said Maxy, looking annoyed but implied by a great anxiety. Realizing that Clara's body was getting weaker and her face was getting paler, Maxy decided to pick her up and take her for treatment to one of the most famous healers in the village.

The healer carefully examined Clara's condition when the lovers arrived at her clinic.

"How is the condition?" Asked Maxy with a face that started to panic. He looked astonished to see the healer's face furrow her brows without saying anything while checking Clara's pulse and heart rate. Maxy's worries peaked when he saw the shocked look on the healer's face when she examined Clara's stomach.
