Chapter 1 Forsaken

Kate's POV

"Father you cannot be serious!" I cried out, my voice cracking with disbelief.

Damien, the towering Alpha of the powerful Twilight Fang pack, fixed me with an icy stare.

I didn't understand how my fate would end up this way. The people call him cursed, even I know he's cursed...

The people say they hear howls and ravaging at night from his room and have witnessed him murmur people right before their eyes.

He was ruthless, arrogant and dominant, a fate I didn't want to experience.

"I've made my decision, Kate. You will be traded to Dimitri of the Bloodmoon Park at the next full moon ritual."

"B-But he's a monster! Everyone fears him, even his own packmates!" I looked around, desperately at the assembled Betas and warriors, but none would meet my eyes.

My stepmother Jane stepped forward, elegant lips curled in a cruel smirk. "Finally rid of this embarrassment. Perhaps Dimitri will teach you some respect, you spoiled little whelp."

"Mother, please!" I turned to beg my stepmother, the woman who had raised me since birth. "I'll do anything, I swear. Don't let Father send me away to him!"

Jane's sharp nails dug into my shoulder with startling force causing me to squirm with pain.

"Do not call me that again, omega filth. You're no daughter of mine, and it's time you learned your place."

Celine, my younger stepsister, strutted over with a hateful gleam in her eye.

What did I expect? I was thrown into the camp of the omegas after years of abuse. I was nothing but a mere toy in the hands of my family.

I was disposable, replaceable, useless and they didn't care if I died.

Being the daughter of the alpha meant absolutely nothing because even my father regarded me as the lowest ranking status.

I didn't understand why.

"That's right, we're well rid of this pathetic half-breed at last. Isn't that right, Kayden darling?"

I flinched as if struck when Kayden, my fated mate, silently moved to stand possessively by Celine's side.

His stormy gaze burned into me, radiating a confusing mix of shame, disgust...and regret.

"Don't look at him like that, wretch," Celine sneered. "He's all mine now - my one true mate. Isn't that right, my love?"

To my utter desolation, Kayden gave a solemn nod of confirmation.

My own fated mate, choosing my stepsister over our sacred bond. It was unthinkable...but terribly real.

"N-No...Kayden, why?" I pleaded brokenly. "We were supposed to be mated for life! You swore your wolf only had eyes for me!"

A muscle ticked in his chiseled jaw, and he finally spoke in a low, hollow tone.

"Things change, Kate. This was never my choice, but the situation is...complicated. I cannot be your mate any longer."

"But I love you!" I cried, tears streaming down my cheeks. "We were meant for each other, destined! You can't just throw that all away!"

His face remained impassive, cold...yet I could detect the barest flicker of anguish deep in his eyes before he turned away.

"It's done. That part of my life is over now."

Jane clapped my hands briskly. "Well, that's settled then. Run along and get packed, half-breed. You leave at the rise of the crimson moon."

The dismissal stung like a white-hot lash.

Around me, various packmates jeered and made crude gestures, celebrating my humiliation.

Once I'd walk these halls with my head high, my omega status be damned - now I was lower than dirt.

Because Kayden had rejected me. Thrown me away like garbage.

Hollow and numb, I retreated, slowly blinking away the tears that threatened to spill from my eyes.

I didn't bother arguing further - it was clear my cruel family had woven this trap with ruthless precision.

Soon, the lost princess of the Twilight Fang pack would be shipped off to the Bloodmoon territory like worthless cargo.

To be mated to Dimitri...the most powerful, unhinged Alpha in all the packs.

A feral beast who showed no mercy and followed no rules but his own savage whims.

Rumors abounded of his animalistic rages, his vicious cruelty to even his own kind.

And I would soon be his...his mate, his possession. Trapped with this rabid monster until my dying day.

Stumbling into my chambers, I slammed the heavy door behind me and sank to the floor, rocking back and forth as the sobs finally broke free in harsh, choking bursts.

I had lost everything - my status, my mate, my entire world.

Nothing ahead but a bleak existence bound to a brutal Alpha I already knew would show me no kindness.

I cried and screamed until my voice was hoarse and raw, a tormented, visceral wail of anguish and despair.

My wrenching sobs were finally interrupted by a hesitant rapping at the door. I hastily scrubbed at my tear-stained cheeks.

"W-Who is it?" I called out in a raspy croak.

A pause, and then an achingly familiar voice. "Kate? It's me...Kayden. Please, let me explain..."

I jolted back, gripped by a sudden fury so intense it felt like my very blood was boiling.

Kayden... my lying, traitorous mate who had ripped my life apart without a shred of remorse!

How dare he come crawling back now, as if his precious platitudes could fix anything!

"Explain?" I spat the word like poison. "How could you possibly explain betraying me like that? Throwing away our bond, our destiny...for my wretched stepsister?!"

My words were met with heavy silence. Then, Kayden sighed, an utterly defeated sound.

"I never wanted to hurt you, Kate. You have to know that. There were just...forces beyond my control. Please, let me in so I can--"

"Save it!" I slammed my fist against the door. "I don't want to hear any more of your excuses, Kayden! As far as I'm concerned, you're just as bad as the rest of my vile family!"

"Kate, don't say that! Despite what it looks like, you know I've only ever cared for y--"

"ENOUGH!" I roared the alpha command, putting every ounce of my anguish and rage into that single word.

A sharp indrawn breath from Kayden's side of the door, but mercifully silence.

Blessed silence, giving her a temporary respite from his useless pleading.

Wrapping my arms around my knees, I rocked back and forth, squeezing my eyes shut against the maelstrom of agony and disbelief howling through my mind.

I would soon be leaving this place, these people behind forever.

But the sting of Kayden's betrayal would follow me into the jaws of my harsh new destiny...forever branded on my soul like a scar.

Chapter 2 Traded to the Beast

Kate's POV

I was forcibly awoken by the harsh clang of steel against steel.

I jolted upright in my bed, disoriented, until my blurry vision focused on the armored warriors shoving open my chamber door.

"Up, omega. It's time to leave." One of them barked gruffly.

Fear and dread washed over me as the reality crashed back.

Today was the fateful crimson moon - the ritual night I would be traded away to become the mate of Dimitri, the dreaded Alpha of the Blood Moon pack.

"I-I'm not ready yet." I tried to protest, only to shrink back when one warrior aimed the tip of his halberd point at my throat.

"You'll go as you are, half-breed. We've wasted enough time and resources on scum like you already."

The words dripped with sneering contempt, a constant reminder of how low I was viewed in my own pack.

My status as the Alpha's daughter meant nothing, here I was just a pitiful omega to be used as a bargaining chip.

With a harsh yank, the warriors hauled me to my feet, not caring when I cried out in pain as my slender wrists were bound tightly.

How utterly I had fallen, to be treated as a lowly criminal being dragged to my doom.

They half-carried, half-dragged me battered form out of my chambers and down the twisting corridors of the Twilight Fang den.

Once I had walked these halls with pride, my head held high despite the snide whispers of the lower ranks behind my back.

Now those same packmates jeered and threw garbage at the shackled princess being marched in disgrace to her new fate.

I kept my eyes averted, jaw clenched to hold back the shamed tears burning behind my eyes.

All too soon, they reached the main ceremonial courtyard where the full force of my pack had assembled beneath the swollen crimson moon.

At the center of the gathered crowd stood my father Damien, stoic and impassive on his throne, flanked by two subordinates.

I froze, heart dropping into my stomach when I recognized the powerful, feral figure at his right hand.

Dimitri of the Blood Moon pack...my new 'mate' to be.

He cut an utterly intimidating presence, over six feet of chiseled wolf-warrior muscle corded with scars and twisted lycan brands.

His striking features were ruggedly handsome despite the jagged slashes marring one side of his brutally scarred face.

And those eyes...endless pits of swirling silver and cold fire that made me blood freeze in my veins.

Eyes that radiated a perpetual ferocity and killer instinct, just waiting to be unleashed.

This was the feared Alpha I would soon belong to?

A heartless, bloodthirsty monster who cared only for power and territory?

I couldn't hold back a pitiful whimper of fear that drew a few derisive chuckles from the assembled wolves.

As I was dragged before the dais, Dimitri's piercing gaze slowly raked over my trembling form in a way that made me feel utterly exposed and insignificant. As if he were a merciless wolf assessing weakling prey.

Finally, those fathomless silver eyes locked onto mine, brimming with a dark, unsettling promise.

I swallowed thickly, my entire body crawling with visceral dread at what fate awaited me at this male's hands.

"Presenting our half-breed omega daughter, Kate," My father announced to the court in a booming baritone. "As per our negotiations over the western range, she is now your 'mate' and property to do with as you please, Alpha Dimitri."

Dimitri gave him the barest hint of a nod, his expression twisted in what seemed like a mocking sneer.

"Your clan's...generosity is noted, Alpha Damien. She shall make an...intriguing addition to my ranks."

The way his eyes trailed over me again made my stomach churn with visceral dread.

Those merciless silver orbs saw right through her defiant front, cutting right to the core of my deep-seated terror.

"B-Begging your pardon..." One of my father's brutish Betas stepped forward with a contemptuous sneer. "But shouldn't you be claiming the half-breed now before she attempts to flee again? Can't have your new bitch runnin' loose like an untrained whelp!"

A vicious growl rumbled out from Dimitri's chest, sharp canines flashing in warning.

"Watch your tone when addressing me, lesser wolf. My 'bitch' as you so crudely put it, is now my responsibility. And I don't take kindly to having my affairs questioned."

The hapless Beta froze, eyes going wide as realization set in that he had just openly disrespected one of the most vicious Alphas in all the packs.

I shrank back, fully expecting Dimitri to lash out in a burst of staggering violence.

Instead, he turned his smoldering gaze onto me, raking over my probably lithe, disheveled form in a way that made me long to cover myself. To hide beneath the scorching weight of that lascivious stare.

"Although...perhaps a lesson in obedience is in order."

Before I could even blink, he surged forward in a shocking blur of preternatural speed and ripped the binding ropes from my wrists with one savage jerk.

I gasped in shock and pain, automatically cradling my raw, bloody wrists to my chest.

Then Dimitri's merciless gaze locked onto my own, freezing me in place like a hapless rabbit ensnared by a wolf's steely glare.

A wicked smirk slowly curled one corner of his scarred mouth.

"On your knees, omega. Present yourself to your new Alpha mate...properly."

Heart thundering, I could only watch in mute shock and terror as he slowly began to shift before me.

Bones crunched and sinuous muscle rippled beneath his skin as his body transformed into something bestial. Something not quite man...and not quite wolf.

A horrifying hybrid monster, towering over my cowering form.

I was paralyzed with fear. I couldn't even scream as the grotesque lycan advanced on me, bloody fangs gleaming wetly in the crimson moonlight, hungry for the taste of flesh and submission.

My vision became impossibly warped.

Darkness crept in around the edges as I lost myself in those icy silver pools, reflecting the promise of pain and possession soon to come.

Just before the blackness enveloped me completely, I heard his sadistic rumbling chuckle, devoid of any shred of humanity or warmth.

"Welcome to your new life, little omega. Let's see how much you can endure..."

Chapter 3 The Lycan's Cruel Initiation

Kate's POV

My head swam as I slowly drifted back to consciousness, met by a relentless throbbing behind my eyes.

My body felt leaden, weighted down by a strange listlessness that robbed me of my usual strength.

I...where am I? What happened?

Blinking blearily, I tried to take in my murky surroundings.

I was sprawled on a dank stone floor, the cloying stench of wet earth and decay thick in the air.

Dull torchlight flickered from bracketed sconces on the rough-hewn walls, casting macabre shadows that seemed to twist and undulate hypnotically.

As my senses slowly realigned, other worrying details filtering in.

Like the heavy iron shackles biting into the tender flesh of my wrists and ankles.

And the unnatural chill seeping into my very bones, despite being stripped down to just a thin cotton shift.

A prison cell...in the depths of the Blood Moon pack's den.

The harrowing memory came crashing back in a merciless torrent.

The humiliation of being traded away by my own family like livestock to be mated off to Dimitri, the monstrous Alpha of this savage lycan clan.

Then blacking out in sheer terror as the beast unleashed his brutal wolf form before my very eyes.

A tremulous whimper escaped my lips as I instinctively huddled in on myself, trying to disappear into the shadows.

What fresh horrors awaited me now at the hands of my new 'mate?'

I knew Dimitri's ruthless reputation all too well - not even his own betas were safe from his bloodthirsty savagery, let alone me, an outsider omega gift-wrapped for his amusement.

Please, Moon Mother...let this just be a cruel nightmare I'll soon wake from, I frantically pleaded. Let me open my eyes and find myself safe back in my own bed within the Twilight Fang den.

But the jarring rattle of heavy footfalls treading down the gloomy cellblock corridor dashed that desperate hope instantaneously.

I shrank back against the rear wall as much as possible, my pulse skyrocketing in primal terror when Dimitri's towering, hulking form stepped into view at the door of my cell.

Even stooped under the low archway, he looked every inch like the fearsome lycan monster rumored to haunt campfire tales told to unruly pup.

Those bottomless silver eyes sliced through the shadows to find me in an instant, gleaming with dark promise and savage intent.

I braced myself for his feral transformation to take hold as he fully unleashed his beast within...yet the monstrous change never came.

Instead, Dimitri strode forward, thunderous footfalls reverberating through my bones with each punishing step closer toward my cowering form.

"There you are, little omega." He rumbled, each grating word laced with ominous menace that made my bones quake. "Awake at last, I see."

Before I could even flinch or shirk away, his hand lashed out in a blistering blur to seize me by the throat, hoisting my helpless body off the ground until the tips of my toes just barely scraped against the filthy cell floor.

I wheezed and gasped like a landed fish, panic surging as I locked gazes with my cruel captor.

Up close, the rugged beauty of his feral features was even more intense, severe yet striking, with hard angles and sinewy scars hinting at countless battles survived.

Eyes that reflected all the savage ferocity of the wild itself, and a chiseled jawline dusted with the first hints of a shadowed beard.

This was a face not sculpted by human hands, but hammered and forged by centuries of ceaseless bloodshed and warfare.

The face of a true alpha monster.

And somehow, that stark, primal masculinity seared itself onto Kate's very soul.

"You have been quite the little handful since before you even arrived in my territory, haven't you, pet?" Dimitri mused, idly dragging the barest tip of his claw across the hollow of my throat.

I flinched violently at the feather-light touch, shuddering at how easily he could open me up with those razor talons.

Yet instead of slitting my delicate flesh, he slowly trailed his claw down until it rested disturbingly between the thin swells of my breasts, a hairsbreadth away from slicing through the frail muslin.

I whimpered, acutely aware of how exposed and vulnerable I was before this male's scorching scrutiny.

"Managed to slip your handlers twice on the journey from your old pack's sad excuse of a den." His growl deepened, lips peeling back in a feral snarl as his pupils contracted to slits. "Hunters had to trail your scent and drag you through the wilds kicking and screaming like a feral cat."

The rough pads of his fingers grazed back up over the slender column of my throat, possessive and domineering.

I trembled ever harder, bile scorching at the back of my tongue at the unwelcome skin contact.

"It seems we'll have to make an example of insubordinate behavior from the very start." Dimitri's canines lengthened, deadly fangs unsheathing before my horrified stare. "Work on taming that rabid defiance while you still have a throat left to beg with..."

Oh gods, no...he isn't... I squeezed my eyes shut in reflexive horror, every muscle seizing up as she braced herself for the brutal agony that must be coming.

Already my mind reeled with images of snapping fangs shredding my tender flesh to ribbons.

Or worse - transforming into his full lycan form to rend my fragile body limb from limb in a shower of gore.

But just as my terror crescendoed to the breaking point, the excruciating pain of slashing claws never came.

Instead, Dimitri merely leaned in closer, his bestial snarl caressing the shell of my ear in a low, taunting growl.

"Submit to me utterly and completely, or we'll see how long your human body can withstand my more...ravenous urges."

Then he released me in one sudden, shocking motion.

I collapsed to the stone floor in a trembling heap, coughing and gulping in ragged lungfuls of stale air as my pulse thundered out of control.

Blood roared in my ears, disorienting me.

When I finally managed to pry my eyes open, Dimitri had already turned away, lumbering back toward the rusted bars of my cramped cell.

Over his shoulder, he tossed one final, disdainful glance back at my quailing form.

"Don't fight what you are, omega. The sooner you accept your rightful place as my bitch...the longer you might live to serve me. Choose wisely, and your death may yet be mercifully quick..."

He let those sadistic words linger like a curse as he stormed out, leaving I huddled and gutted on the foul cell floor.

Time seemed to blur and distort as her mind spun incoherently from the shock.

I barely even registered the distant, echoing wails of pure anguish eventually tearing free from my raw throat...
