The Cursed Billionaire: A werewolf tale

"Hurry up we have to leave now" Mr. Cage tells his fellow hunters, Mrs. Cage comes in heavily pregnant "please don't go, I have a very bad feeling about today".

"My lovely wife please go inside you need to rest; you are pregnant and the stress is not good for you" Mr. Cage replied

He calls out to the wife of one of his closest hunters and ask that she takes his wife inside, which she did.

Cage goes out to his frontage where the wolf hunters were gathering and he spoke to them before they headed out "Today we end the wolfs" the hunters were shouting in agreement. And they all headed out to the woods with their guns, knives and fires to end all the wolf clan's.

In the forest, all the wolves from their different clans had arrived and their Alpha the Lycan chief stood at the top of the mountain to speak to them, then he ordered the leader of the Earth root pack to make sure they secure the women and children so they took them away to protect them while the men and some of the women who were strong and capable enough to protect stayed back to fight for the clan.

A spy for the wolves came and alerted them that the wolf hunters were close by and they took their positions to defend themselves. They all transformed into wolves and were ready to fight for their lives.

At Cage's house his wife was so restless and it was affecting her pregnancy, the women with her tried to convince her to calm down, if not for any one but the sake of her child but she felt deep down inside of her that something would happen tonight and that would change not just her life but that of her unborn child.

In the woods the wolf hunters arrived and everywhere was dark so Cage ordered that they smoke the wolves out of hiding so they threw explosives which exploded their hideout and killed some of them even before the fight started, the rest of them came out and started the fight while the Alpha asked some people to take those who were not dead but injured from the location to the hideout where the women and children were sent.

The twin Luna witches were conjuring and trying to use spells so the wolves can win in the fight against the humans but they were attacked and when a hunter was about to kill them a wolf came in their defence but that would not be all for the night.

The fight got more gruesome wolves were dying, hunters were also losing their lives, until the final fight between Cage and the Alpha, they fought and fought and the Alpha could attest that a mere human engaged in a fight with him in wolf form, so to even the odds he turned back to his half human half wolf form and fought with Cage, while fighting they could see how their people were dying, and the Alpha got a little distracted so Cage took advantage and stabbed him.

He passed out on the floor and the other wolves who saw that their Alpha had been defeated tried to escape but the hunters attacked them and killed some of them.

Cage saw the witches and he went to them, he was about to kill the younger twin so her elder sister stood in the was of his sword and was stabbed but before she did, she placed a curse on him and told him;

"Your descendant I curse, will turn to the very thing you hate and wants to kill the most, they shall live for 1000 years filled with loneliness and the only cure to this curse will be to fall in love with a luna wolf descendant and when they kiss on a full moon only then will the curse be broken; for I shall join your descendant with a descendant of that which you despise the most" and she died.

Her sister cried and in anger Cage was about to kill the second sister when the Alpha came and stabbed him from behind but he still hurt her a bit which led her to bleed a lot causing her to die but before she died, she relayed the curse that was layed on Cage to the rest of the wolves, the remaining wolves succeeded in killing the hunters and for the ones who weren't dead they escaped and ran back to the village.

The wolves wanted to plan an attack on the village but the Alpha said "no! this is going to turn to a vicious cycle of revenge and when we exact revenge the villagers will want to exact revenge and it keeps going round and round, we need to think about the lives that were lost and focus in the ones that are alive so the sacrifices they made to keep everyone alive will not go in vain".

The Alpha king kept the sister's side by side each other, they also gathered all the dead bodies of the wolves, stacked them up together and performed a ritual for their souls to rest in peace and then they burned them.

The hunters who survived ran back to the village and went to Cage's house, when they got there the ones who survived met their wives and they hugged each other, the ones whose husbands died were crying some of them were rolling ion the floor crying their eyes out.

Cage's wife came out of her room and saw everyone crying so she asked for her husband and the surviving hunters told her he is dead, immediately she got into labour and she started complaining of her stomach then she fainted.

They rushed her to the room and she was bleeding profusely, the ladies decided to attend to her but for that she had to wake up so they started slapping her feet and her body, they also sprinkled water on her until she managed to come back to life.

They told her she would have to give birth now, she told them the baby was not due to come out yet but they told her she was bleeding so they have to bring the baby out.

They placed her on the bed and set everything ready for the delivery, she pushed and pushed until the baby came out, what they saw shocked them and they all ran away, the shock led Mrs Cage to go into cardiac arrest and she died.

Nobody was ready to touch the baby because they were all scared, they were murmuring and wondering why she would give birth to such a monstrous being, then one of the hunters came up and said to everyone "he was cursed" they looked at him wondering what he was saying and he told them "A Luna witch cursed Cage's descendants and seeing that this child is the only descendant of Cage he was cursed to be a wolf".

Everyone gasped surprised at what is going on, then one of the widowed women said "the child is now an orphan so what do we do, do we send him to the wolves whom his father tried to kill and he was cursed or what?" nobody had an answer to the question then someone said "I will raise him".

Then looked around trying to find who said it, then they saw a young man walk towards them, one of the hunters asked "who are you?" and he said "my name is Lorelei, I am a friend of the child's father and since no one wants to care for him, I will stay here and raise him.

One of the villagers there said "stay here, with that cursed child? It's not possible we all live in this village with our families, letting that monster grow up amongst our children will come back to bite us in the future". One of the hunters asked then "what do we do then?", a villager said "we need to cast the child out of the village and send him to where he belongs with the wolves".

One of the hunters who was a close friend of Cage said "think about the sacrifice his father made for us all to be here would he like it if we send his only child away like this" the wife of the hunter said "that is the father after all he is the reason the child is cursed in the first place, nobody will take this child in so I ask that we send the child away" her husband was about to speak then she held his hand and whispered to him "if you keep insisting on this I would take your daughters away and go to my home town so decide" so he kept quiet.

Lorelei went in and brought the baby out and they moved back, they were scared because the baby was hairy like a wolf, then he started giggling and then turned into a normal human baby.

Lorelei told the villagers not to worry that he was going to handle the responsibility of the baby so he left with the baby. He walked deep into the woods for two days and then he got to the wolf cave, they opened the entrance for him and he went in to see the Alpha with the baby in a wrap he hanged around himself.

The Alpha king saw him and went to embrace him, he said to him "Welcome back brother I was so worried, how was your journey" as Lorelei replied the Alpha noticed the child in Lorelei's hand, and he asked whose child it is, Lorelei told everything to Alpha and he said to Lorelei "as much as I would want to take pity on this child and take him in, the sins of his father is such that I can't even forget it, it just happened two days ago, families are hurting from the loss of their loved ones how do I tell them to accept the child of the man that caused all that pain to then".

Lorelei asked "so what do you want me to do?" Alpha told him "I am sorry but you would have to leave this child to his own fate, whatever happens, happens"

Lorelei said "I am sorry I can't leave this child to suffer, and you know he doesn't deserve this, the fight between the villagers and us was caused by us, when Cage came to the council to complain about the serial killings of the villagers in the woods by wolves what did you do to stop it, nothing!! And when they retaliated to protect themselves, his child Is placed with a curse".

Alpha angrily shouts at Lorelei and told him "So what!! What's done is done and there is nothing we can do about it but this child is not one of us, he is a product of a curse not a wolf from birth" Lorelei challenged and said "he is one of us and he is a wolf from birth curse or no curse".

Alpha calms down and puts his hands on Lorelei's shoulder and he said to him "you are my family and family will always come first, so please don't put me in a position to choose between you and the clan because as hard as it will be you know whom I will choose".

Lorelei said to him, "Fine, do whatever you want and I will do whatever I want, but I will raise this child even if I have to travel far and wide, I must create a home for this child, a home he was deprived of because of us".

Lorelei looked at Alpha one last time before he left and said "goodbye brother" tears filled both their eyes, Alpha watched as Lorelei left, then memories of their childhood, how he always took care of Lorelei after their parents passed away and how happy Lorelei was when he was made the Lycan Chief.

Lorelei left the gates protecting the wolf's den and he wandered for days until he came across an old wretched looking mansion, when he walked in everywhere was dark, and then the baby snapped his hands and there was light everywhere in the house. Lorelei was shocked at what just happened then he realized that being cursed by the Luna witch the baby also possesses the powers of the witch.

He walked in and for everything they walked pass it was well arranged, the house and furniture's arranged itself and fresh food was automatically provided in the fridge. Lorelei took the baby upstairs and placed him on the well-arranged bed and said to him "I promised you I was going to provide a home for you and that is what I would do, from today you name is Xander meaning 'defender of the people' just like how your father defended his village so shall you defend those who can't protect and defend themselves, he raises the baby up and calls him his full name Xander Cage and the baby started giggling.

Days turned to weeks, weeks turned to months and Lorelei watched little Xander grow into a handsome young hardworking man. One of the days, Xander went into the village it felt weird to him because other than the plants and trees he grew up around, the only other human he has seen was Lorelei, so it was a little strange.

As he walked through the market, the young ladies who saw him couldn't take their eyes off him, they were throwing themselves at him, even people's wives who would have thought that Xander the same young man they are drooling over is the same child they called cursed twenty-five years ago.

Xander has been the supplier of fruits to that village for years little did they know the person whom all the fruit vendors have been buying fruits and vegetables from for over ten years has been Xander. The girls of the village didn't want to let him go so he had to run away and take a route to confuse them.

While he was heading back home, he saw a group of men who take street children and force them to beg for money, he tried to stop them from harassing the eleven-year-old boy but instead they chose to fight with him instead.

He didn't even have to lift a finger and he dealt with the men and hung them up on the tree, then he asked the little boy to go home. While Xander was on his way back home he noticed the little boy has been following him since he left the village, then he turned around and caught him. He asked why he was following him and the boy said he had nowhere else to go, so Xander took pity on him and decided to take him home with him.

When he got home, Lorelei saw him coming with the little boy from a distance and stood in front of the house waiting for them to come and when they did, he smiled at Xander and they took the little boy in, fed him and clothed him. Later Xander told Lorelei about what happened in the village and Lorelei told Xander he did the right thing by bringing the little boy here, he told Xander "I was always worried as to what will happen to you when I die, now I know you would have a companion when I leave.

Xander said to him "stop talking about death the fact I am cursed with life doesn't mean you need to talk about death". The little boy then walks in and said to Xander "you are the one, right?" they both looked at him confused and the boy said "we've heard stories about the cursed child, some parents even tell it to their children as a horror story but do you know what I see it as" they looked at him waiting for his answer and he said to them; "I see it as a story of bravery, a man who risked his life to save his village and his son who was cursed for a crime he never committed" he held Xander's hands and said to him "you are not a bad person, because if you were you would have let those mean men hurt me but you didn't" then he asked Xander "will you be my brother?".

Xander looks at Lorelei and he smiled at Xander and nodded then he hugged the little boy and said to him "of course I will, what is your name" the little boy said "Atlas Hawthorne" Xander smiled and said to Atlas "from today onward I will protect and take care of you" the little boy hugged him.

One morning Lorelei came out of the house and he noticed someone was spying on them, then he caught the person and asked who he was, then he confessed that Alpha sent him to check up on Lorelei to know how he is doing, tears rolled down his cheek then he remembered moments he spent with his brother and also the time when they argued and parted ways.

He asked the spy how Alpha is, he told him and also told him about all his achievements as the Chief, then Lorelei smiled and he told the spy to give Alpha a message for him then he dismissed the spy. The spy went back and told Alpha what Lorelei said and he dismissed the spy, he then went to his room and carried a toy Lorelei used to play with as a child, he smiled looking at it and said "I miss you too brother".

Years went by and little Atlas was a thirty-two-year-old married man with two boys and a girl, together with Xander they have expanded Xander's business and they supplied not just to the village close to them but also to people from very far, they were the richest famers in the whole area. Lorelei was getting older; he had just clocked eighty-two news just got to him that his brother had passed and his nephew has been installed as the new Lycan chief. Days later Lorelei passed.

Xander has watched Atlas grow old and has watched generations after him come and go, years had gone by and civilization had. Xander was now living in the 21st century America precisely in New York city.

He had amassed great wealth, and was living with the current generation of Atlas Hawthorne, Oliver Hawthorne who was Xander's butler, while his son Thomas was the CEO of Xander's company.

With the powers Xander got from the witch through the curse he managed to make people believe he looks like his father, whenever they see him, they assume he is the son of his late father, that way no one knows he has been the one living all these lives.

Centuries had come and gone and for each century Xander traveled round the world in search of the Luna descendant all to no avail, each time he came back home from a trip where he went out in search of the Luna descendant and it was not successful, he would lock himself up in his room for days before he comes out of his room.

Each time he wants to change into a wolf he goes through a secret path at the back of his house which will lead him through a mystical forest to the house he grew up in. Sometimes he stays there for days leaving the Hawthorne's to handle his affairs before he comes back to civilization.

Years had gone by and the timeline for Xander's life was drawing near, he had lived up to his nine hundred and ninety ninth year, and he just got into the last year, his hundredth year. At this point Xander had lost hope in finding the Luna descendant, and he was ready and willing to embrace his fate no matter what it was. But the new year might bring about a new dawn.
