Rena:
"What's wrong?" I freeze, looking right into his hesitant face, feeling confused and shocked all at once.
"You don't want me?" My question catches him off guard, and his eyes look away from me. He smirks, shaking his head as if I'm talking nonsense.
The first man I ever invited inside my apartment, and the first to reject me.
"Who wouldn't want all of this?" His deep voice makes my knees wobble, and I can finally feel relief wash over me. Even though it's so dark inside my room, it's easy to see his smirk grow wider.
"Then what is it?" I cover up some of my bare skin, feeling the embarrassment due to his cruel rejection hitting me hard in the face. I jump off my bed. My movements don't ease the tension, because his face tightens as he follows me across the room.
I step outside the balcony, watching a few cars passing down the street. The fresh air fills my lungs as Derek gently squeezes my hand. But I refuse to look at his face, not wanting him to see how hurt and disappointed I am.
As he keeps on staring at me, and waiting for me to look at him, I just keep ignoring his looks.
I expect him to leave my room by now, and vanish from my life for good, as if he never existed. However he's just stubborn to do so, because to my surprise I can feel his hand grabbing my waist gently, swiftly turning me around, and pulling me closer to him.
Our eyes meet for seconds, and this doesn't make it any easier. Staying up close to him makes me even more fascinated by his charming strong features.
"I don't know...are we even exclusive? We've been dating for like two months!" I finally let go of the words that have been stuck in my throat for the last few weeks.
"I want to prove to you I'm different, it's not just sex I care about!" His words make me regret being honest with him already, and even regret showing him how easy I am! However they also make me wonder, does he really want more than... just sex?
I step inside my room, heading to my closet, pulling a new t-shirt and shorts. I can feel his eyes still focus on every movement I'm making. "Renn, I feel like you're the one" his words sink deep in my heart, making me freeze for seconds. My breath suddenly stops as I glare in shock at his honest face.
But my dignity ruins the perfect moment anyway, and I look away, immediately. As I continue to put on my clothes, like he said nothing.
"I know it's crazy, but I do feel this strong feeling for you, it drives me crazy and makes me want to do things...things you can never imagine" he starts, his hand reaching to cup my cheek, and his gaze holding mine.
"But it also makes me want to slow down." His deep honest words make me want to hug him, and that's why I pull him into a tight hug, his warm skin giving me shivers. Is this normal? Or is it because he's so hot that his skin is almost sending flames all over my body?
"What? surprised that a tattooed bad boy knows how to sweet talk?" His question makes me roll my eyes, and I try to hide my smile.
"I just want to figure out... this?" I say seriously, pointing to the small distance between us. He doesn't give an answer, and only frowns.
Something is telling me that he's not sure about our relationship, or maybe he's just too scared to admit it. But I forget how unpredictable this guy is, because his next sentence makes me even more shocked.
"I want you to meet my parents" he says, and his serious face makes me gape from shock. His hand touches the necklace I'm wearing, but his eyes aren't fixed on mine, they're fixed on my necklace, the one grandma gave me.
"Your...parents?" I gulp, "isn't this too soon?" I add, playing nervously with my fingers. "why? you don't want me?" His soft voice makes me giggle as he tries to mimic me from earlier.
"I'll think about it" I say, and turn my back on him, walking towards my bathroom, however I stop when I feel a sudden and unexplainable pain in my chest, as if someone was digging down my chest trying to cut out my heart.
But I continue to walk as if nothing happened, but deep down I know that feeling, I just choose to ignore it anyway.
*****************
I'm running inside the dark wood, someone, or something is chasing after me. I stop running, my heavy breath makes me suffocate.
I don't know for how long I've been running, I don't even know why I'm in here, alone. My eyes scan my surroundings, tall trees standing on every side, and just then I know I'm lost.
Suddenly I freeze in my spot listening to the rumbling noises. That's not the worst part, the worst part is they're coming from behind the trees, only inches apart from where I'm standing.
My eyes are wide open and my whole body is shaking, panic rushes through me as I look at a black creature's amber eyes emerging from the dark.
The black beast bares its teeth, and all I keep thinking about is running, but somehow can't afford to. It's not my game, and obviously I won't win in this chase. Yet something in those yellow eyes makes me want to gaze forever into them...
"Rena, wake up!" Derek's voice wakes me up from the horrible nightmare, the same nightmare I always dream about, the same woods, and the same black creature, with the same amber eyes. I'm surprised that I took a long nap inside Derek's car.
We were on the road to Derek's parents, and I'm so excited to meet them, but feeling so nervous too.
Stretching in my seat, I notice it's already dark outside. Suddenly the car starts to slow, and finally parked in front of a huge silver gate. My jaw drops open as I lay eyes on the huge mansion behind the massive silver gate.
I look back at Derek who's looking straight ahead. "You live here?" I ask, pointing to the mansion. His facial expressions are unreadable, and his hands grip the wheel so hard that his knuckles turn white. I narrow my eyes, surprised by his sudden reaction.
Derek's eyes meet my gaze, and a small smirk plays on his face. "something like that" he states, then steps out of the car, opening the door for me.
My eyes roam all over the place. The mansion has large windows, the roof is high and pointed, with dark tiles that give the mansion a regal look. A wild balcony that stretches across the upper floor. A long driveway that leads up to the grand entrance, which was lined with neatly trimmed bushes and flowers. There's also a fountain in the center, adding to the scene a touch of elegance and wealth.
I look around the mansion to notice it's surrounded by trees, as if we're in the middle of woods. My eyes don't catch anything else, no neighbors, no main road...
I stare at Derek, "what is this place? Did you drag me down here to kidnap me and then bury me alive or something" I tease, but the look on Derek's face and the silence that follows deepen my fears.
I took a step back, but he grips my wrist really hard. "What are you doing? If this is some twisted joke, you already won..." I say, but he doesn't let go, "Derek?" I try to fight back, but he's strong in a weird way, his face as cold as ever.
"Don't fight back...you can never escape!" he growls, his voice louder than usual, and even strange.
His charming face turns to a pissed scary one, and his teeth change as if he's turning into a monster.
I start to panic, what does he mean by that? And more importantly, what is he? That's not the face of a normal human!
I glance down at his elbow to see his veins almost bulging out from beneath his skin, then look back to his horrifying face once again, searching for answers.
But suddenly his grip starts to loosen as he looks behind me. "Alpha...She's all yours" Derek says, his voice calm again, bowing slightly.
As I stand there, confusion swirling in my mind, Who is Alpha? And did he just bow?
I'm about to turn when I feel the person Derek was talking with is right behind me, and he's even close.
But before I can react, a rough hand covers my mouth and a piece of white fabric is pressed against my nose. The scent isn't familiar, but it smells sweet. And that makes me realize one thing, I'm being kidnapped.
I start to fight back, my eyes shouting for Derek's help, but he ignores me anyway, looking away from me, and starts to walk away. I try to shout, but I can't.
An overwhelming sense of betrayal brings me close to tears as I watch him walking away.
My breath is fading as I try to push the guy away from me, and my knees start to weaken, but I put all the little energy that's left in my body to turn around, and that's when his amber eyes, and black features meet mine.
I frown, and my teary eyes plead with him to let me go, but he doesn't.
Instead, his other hand reaches for my waist, tightening his grip, as if he's telling me to surrender and stop fighting.
I lose control over my body, and my heavy body falls between his arms...his amber eyes scanning every inch of my face, until my vision blurs...
Rena:
I struggle to open my eyes, a horrible headache pounding in my skull. My mouth is dry, and my whole body aches.
I start to open my eyes, and a sudden shock grips me. staring at the dark place I've been putting inside, I try to stand, but I'm too weak. Wait a minute, my hands sensing the ground underneath me, was I sleeping on the ground?
And just then, the realization strikes me as memories flood back, Derek kidnapped me!!
My eyes are searching for anyone, or anything but nothing ! "HELP!!!" I yell, "please, anyone...help!!" and again, no answer from the other side.
My tears start to fall, and I finally manage to stand.
I reach out, feeling rough stone walls on either side. It feels like I'm in a narrow place. My fingers brush against cold, metal bars...cells!! I realize.
"Derek!!!" I continue to yell, and I don't want to give up already, not without fighting. "STOP IT!!" Derek's voice from the other side. I gasp, hearing distant footsteps.
"Please, just let me out of here, I promise to forget all about this, I just want to go home, my grandma will be worried" I start, maybe he'll have mercy on me after all.
"I said STOP IT!" His sharp voice makes me realize that I was wrong, "Can you please tell me why you are doing this?" I ask. I shut my eyes against the blinding lights, when Derek finally turns them on.
"If it's about money..." I add, opening my eyes slightly at his pissed off face.
"Money? You think I'm doing this for money?" His words make me more confused. If he's not doing this for money, then why am I here?
"Okay, then why did you bring me here?" I ask, and he shrugs, making a few steps closer towards my cell.
"I don't have the answer to that, sorry" he says, adjusting his black suit, why is he dressed like that?
"Why are you wearing a suit? I know how much you hate suits..." I say, remembering how much we used to argue about suits in the past, when I ask him to wear one, and he refuses.
"Because...it's my wedding day" he answers, my eyes almost popping out of their sockets, "Your what?" I ask, feeling my head spinning around.
"As you heard, my wedding day" he repeats, with a wide smirk on his face, as if he's rubbing it in my face. "Did you really think that I would marry you? The human? The useless!" he asks, pointing at me, while all I can feel right now is the heartbreak, and the horrible pain in my chest.
"Human?" my voice barely audible, he nods, "I don't want to ruin the surprise for you, but love? Werewolves do exist" he says.
"So the first step is to kidnap me, and the next one is to make me lose my mind? Do you think I'm that stupid?" I snap, tightening my grip against the cold bars.
"Believe me, I'd be so glad to show you by myself, but this is a rare suit" he says calmly, and just when I'm starting to think it's all crazy, he whistles, not taking his eyes from me.
It takes just a few seconds for a shirtless man, wearing only blue jeans, to join us. Derek nods to the guy, and the guy smirks at him.
The guy's bones suddenly start stretching, or probably breaking. His body changes as fur starts growing and spreading quickly over his arms and legs. Hands curl, and the most terrifying part is his fingers, they're stretching until they become sharp claws.
My eyes widen, not believing the sight of the massive huge gray wolf that's in front of me.
At the moment, I almost pee on myself, feeling my heart pounding rapidly inside my chest, about to stop at any moment.
I take a few steps back, holding my chest, and breathing heavily, if I hadn't witnessed all of this with my own eyes, I would say werewolves exist only in movies.
"Scared, aren't we?" Derek's voice reminds me that he's still here, the smirk still playing on his face. The huge gray wolf transforms back to his human body, and I close my eyes at the realization that he's no longer wearing his blue jeans , and I have no interest in staring at his manhood.
"I hope you enjoyed the show..." Derek wears an amusement look on his face.
I shake my head, still shaking from all what just happened. "What do you want from me?" I shout, still glaring at him, but he simply walks towards the bars.
"I don't want anything from you, love" he answers, "You should ask Alpha" he adds, and my curiosity grows wider inside me.
"What does all of this have to do with you?" I ask, "why should I answer your questions?" he asks, and just when I'm about to answer, he stops me.
"I guess you owe me that...I mean after all, it's because of you I'm marrying my girl today" his face tightens, and his eyes stare at the void, as if he's trying to remember every single detail of the story.
"I'm a rough, well not anymore..." he starts, but when he notices the questioning look on my face, he rolls his eyes, "Argh...forgot I'm talking to a human" he shakes his head in annoyance, grabbing a chair, and sits inches away from my cell.
"I can't believe I'm doing this on my wedding day" he adds, then suddenly locks eyes with me, "I was banished, years ago...from this pack" he explains, I nod at him to continue.
"But the girl I love, we can't get married if I'm rough. Alpha took advantage of that, and sent me to get you" he finishes, "and why is that?" I ask him, but he shrugs, "it's his own business, no one can say no to his orders" his lips form a thick line.
"So he has powers on you?" I ask, maybe I can turn them against each other, I mean, I know how Derek is arrogant, and dominant.
"Yeah...he's our Alpha" he answers, and to my shock my plan didn't work, "nice try" he winks at me, and stands up from the wooden chair, our eyes locked for moments.
"Derek..." I call out his name, feeling tears welling up, his eyes narrow as he gives me a questioning look. "Am I going to die?" I ask, and he stops for a moment, but only shrugs.
"You're his business, Rena" his answer strikes like a thunder, it's like he never cared about me.
"This is the last question, was it all fake?" I ask, I have to ask, I grow huge feelings for this guy, his eyes immediately look away, "like I said Rena, I would never marry a human" his statement crashes the last hope, and any emotions left.
"Especially the weak, stupid kind" he adds salt to the wound, and with that Derek walks outside leaving me not only heartbroken, but also terrified, shocked, and completely hopeless.
Leaving my fate between the Alpha's hands...
Rena:
I'm lying on the cold hard ground, my eyes swallowed from all the crying.
I know that my life wasn't so perfect, but at least I had a life, now I'm only a prisoner between these walls.
I have no idea how long I've been in here, but I'm sure of one thing, I'm done fighting.
A guardian keeps on bringing me food, water. He even brought me some new clothes, but I refused to eat, or drink. And I have no idea how long I can keep fighting.
"You have to eat, these are Alpha's orders" The guy says, and I stand from the cold ground, my whole body hurts as I do so.
"And why would I do that? I'll be dead anyway, isn't that why your Alpha brought me here?" I ask, and he shakes his head as an answer.
"You have no idea what you're talking about" he states, then pushes the tray of food back inside.
"Okay...do you want me to eat?" I ask, and he nods, starts to smile. Of course he would be happy that I'm finally giving up, he had a really rough time trying to convince me to eat.
And that makes me think that I must be very valuable to their leader, since they don't want me to be harmed.
Even though I don't know why, or how I'm very important, I chose to take advantage of this situation, and get the hell out of this prison.
"Fine, if you want me to eat, call your Alpha" I demand, "right now" I add, his face is very surprised, as if he wasn't expecting such a turn of events.
"I'll see what I can do, but don't be very optimistic about it" he finishes, then stands and leaves.
I sigh...still standing in hope that this guy is finally going to give me the answers I need to know.
Remembering the fact that Derek has sold me out to this guy, and that there werewolves in this world make me feel dizzy and shocked.
I wonder how grandma is, and is she starting to look for me? I mean I don't know how long I've been here, but I know that she'll be worried, what if anything happens to her? Since I'm the only one that's left for her.
My parents died a few years ago in a car accident, and my grandpa died even before they did. So we're the only people that's left for each other, and it's something I don't mind since we're taking really good care of each other.
I honestly regret not letting her meet Derek or telling her about him. Because I knew that if she met him, she would never bless our relationship.
The sound of distant footsteps brings me back to the cruel reality.
I take a few steps towards the thick bars, brushing my hands against them, trying to pick looks of the person who's walking down here. I gulp when I see a shadow on the ground, feeling a wave of fear wash over me.
If all the werewolves obey this man, then he must be someone really strong, maybe he's a monster...well he is a monster for kidnapping me!!
I frown, standing on my toes, still trying to pick looks, but all my hopes crash down when all I see is the guardian, all by himself.
"Where is your leader?" I ask, and he shrugs, "I told you not to keep your hopes up" he answers, and anger sweeps over me immediately, who the hell he thinks he is?
I was about to react, but all I did was grab the tray of food from the ground, and throw it against the wall. I'm expecting the plate to smash, but it doesn't...it's not even made of glass!
I shout in outrage, feeling the guy's eyes staring at me, but he says nothing. Instead, he tries to offer another tray of food, but I ignore him.
After an hour or in my case I should just say a long time, the guard starts to talk to me, his voice holds a hint of concern. I'm about to answer, but I stay quiet, not moving a finger, just laying down on the ground, while a brilliant idea pops into my head.
"Miss...are you alright?" he asks, starting to freak out, I smirk, I think this is finally going to work, I'm finally getting out of this nasty place.
I don't answer, nor move, hoping he'd open the stupid cell just so I get to escape.
The sound of keys clinking in his hand reaches my ears, and a small smirk plays along my face.
As he opens the cell, I can feel my heart squeezing inside my chest. I didn't think too much about this, but am I really going to succeed in escaping this frightening nightmare?
The guy approaches me, and tries to wake me, poking my elbow gently, but I don't move. I hold my breath, and his eyes staring at my face for a while, but I stay still.
"Shit!" he mutters, leaning down, trying to check my pulse, but I open my eyes, and reach for the metal tray that's only two inches away from me.
He immediately stands and tries to reach for the door as fast as he can. Yet I don't give him the chance, and hit him with the heavy tray right in his head. He collapses on the ground immediately.
"Sorry" I mutter, reaching for the keys that are now laying on the ground right a few centimeters away from the guy.
I notice his eyes slightly opened, as he tries to keep himself conscious.
"Don't do this...you can't do it" he says, his voice weak, and barely audible.
"I have to..." I respond, grabbing the keys, heading outside the cell, but not forgetting to lock it up behind me.
I try to follow the way outside this horrible place.
The very little light doesn't help though, it's so dark in here, and just then I realize that this is what we call in movies, Dungeons!
No wonder it is so damn dark in here, it's because it's an underground cell!
I turn around, my eyes scanning the huge place, feeling panicked already, not knowing which path I should take.
I take a deep breath, and start running straight ahead. This is my only chance, and I have to do this.
I picked the right path, making my choice, even though it's a bit risky, but I prefer to get lost than go back inside that cell.
Or worse, maybe this time I'll get punished for trying to escape, their leader will probably rape me, or even torture me by cutting out my fingers, one by one.
I close my eyes as the images of him torturing me keep chasing after me.
I turn around when I hear close footsteps chasing from behind, but never stop. As a matter of fact, my steps are even faster than ever.
And just when I'm about to look straight ahead, I bump into someone...
I look up to meet his amber eyes staring back at me. My palms are both placed on his strong hard chest...the look on his face doesn't show he's happy to see me either, tightening his jaw, and raising an eyebrow.
"Are you lost, beastie?" he asks, grabbing my hand, and taking a closer step towards me. His amber eyes blazing with anger, scanning every inch of my face...
