Chapter 1
I'm Ariyah Suarez, I'm a half independent half dependent girl. Although my parents are still alive, I was raised by my grandmother. My parents divorced when I was young and eventually found their significant others forgetting about me. Grandma's dreams were too high for me that's why when I was in college she took me out of the province and brought me to Manila to study at a prestigious university where I met my two best friends, Prima a certified gay and Lou who is a certified boy hunter, because he cannot be freed.
The three of us are all the same, that's why our friendship is happy. But of course, in times of trials, we are one.
Out of the three of us, I'm the only one without a boyfriend since birth. Because I'm afraid of having a boyfriend, afraid of men specifically. I was just thinking about having a boyfriend, what a wonder I was thinking. Also, that's not my priority yet because all I want is to do my best in school to make my grandmother proud because she loves me so much. This is it and he entrusted me with 1.2 million so that I can buy a house where I can stay because he is always worried about me. And of course, when she comes out of Manila after her retirement as a teacher in our province, she will have a place to stay. It's just that... Fate is too cruel to both of us.
I was excited and happy arranging my future room here in the house I bought when grandma called.
"Grandma!!! Hello, I missed you!" I exclaimed energetically as I answered the phone call.
"Oh grandpa, how are you?" Grandma also happily exclaimed.
"Oh it's grandma, I'm fixing my room right now...do you want to see this house, let's have a video call." I promise excitedly.
"Oh grandpa, I really want it because I didn't charge that one of my cell phones. This keypad is what I'm using, so I'll use it next time I'm in town."
"Oh, is that so, okay?"
"Oh, how is the house you bought?"
"Oh, that's right, this house is beautiful and in good condition. It's not big, but it's sturdy. It has two bedrooms, so it's just right for the two of us."
"That's good, but wait, whose house used to be?"
"Oh what is he, he belongs to a family that has migrated to another country. My best friend Lou's mother knows him, they live next door to my house, their house is just on the other side of the wall. They are next to each other because the house is here."
"Ah, is that so, oh well, it's good that you and your friend are close, at least you have someone to hang out with."
"Oh no, it's okay, we're okay here. This will be your retirement home when you get out of here."
"Hey, I'm happy grandpa, it's good if that's the case, especially since I'm old. All my savings for the two of us have gone to that house, so I have nothing else to expect but my little pension when I retire ."
"Oh, don't worry because I will graduate in just one and a half years. After that I will immediately look for a job so that I can take care of you and the beautification of this house because remember, I am a future interior designer this is your grandson!" I was bragging and that's why he laughed.
"I wish it was a grandson."
"Of course, believe me. When that happens, you'll just use your money for maintenance because I'll take care of everything. Besides, I'm also planning to work part time now so I can take care of the school my fees. Just allocate your salary for your medicines."
"Oh, are you sure, grandpa, you won't be in too much trouble?"
"No, I can handle it, so don't worry."
"Ah, is that right, but if you need money, tell me anyway, send a letter or tell your cousin Kyle so he can tell me."
"Yes, I'll take care of it. Just take care of your health."
"Ah, okay, grandpa, always be careful. My co-teachers are already calling me saying we're going home. Besides, give me a tour of the house when I get back to town."
"Oh go ahead, bye. I love you." After saying goodbye, I continued to tidy up and decided to go to the department store to buy kitchen supplies that evening.
I didn't expect that this would be the first time we crossed paths with the man who would become a big part of my life.
"Gosh! This is crazy...why is it taking so long!" That man frowned when looking at his watch.
It was opposite the knife section while I was in the pots a few meters away from him.
"Ah hi Sir, this is the knife you want." A little while later, a woman who had just arrived panted.
I was about to ignore them when I was surprised because the man raised his voice.
"This is not my order!" This irritated promise that was still a bit weak at first.
"Ah yes, sir, that's not it, but they are the same, the one you want is out of stock." The woman explained worriedly but the man suddenly became angry.
"What?! So you mean, I have waited for like thirty minutes for you to just say the item I want is out of stock?! That item is right here on your display, so basically I've seen it and I didn't like it, that's why I'm getting someone else, isn't it, and then that's what you're going to give me saying they're the same? Come here, look at this item in this brochure that I like and that item you're giving me. Now tell me what are their differences?" He said angrily.
"Ah S-Sir, the knife you want is more expensive." The woman's response was trembling.
"And why do you think it's more expensive than the one in your hand?"
"Ah Sir, he's stronger because he's thinner, bigger, and rust proof." There was fear in the woman's voice as she promised again.
"How about that one in your hand?" The man seemed serious, that's why instead of doing what I was doing, I just watched them.
"Ah Sir this one is smaller, thicker and lower quality so it's cheaper..."
"See? And then you're going to tell me they're all the same?! How come that you didn't even these basic stuff? Shall I talk to your manager hmm? Gosh this is crazy!!!" This is a sarcastic angry exclamation.
"Oh wow, he's too hot for a knife, he's so angry...What's wrong, it's a shame that he's handsome, he's so sensitive and naughty!" I couldn't help exclaiming to myself when the man suddenly looked at me.
"Shockz did he hear me?!" I said as he grinned and turned to me.
"Hey, is minding other's businesses is your business?!" He said flatly that's why I winced. "Gosh he heard me." I whispered before I mustered up the courage to face him.
"It's because, Sir, you're so mad at sister gurl like a knife! Is that right?!" I was defending when he suddenly grinned.
"Look here, what I'm doing is not being O'ay or whatever you call it! I'm just helping her with her logic and irrational reasonings and there's nothing wrong with it, you know what's wrong? It was you meddling in other people's business!" He said eloquently and with an accent that's why I could hardly answer.
"O-oh edi wow you..." was my only answer because the truth of that suddenly made me nervous. I feel like I'm in front of my math teacher, scary.
"I'm just trying to be productive here but how can I do that if both of you just wasted my time!" He said that's why I answered to tease him.
"Ah just, you're still grumpy bleh!" I teased with a tongue-in-cheek exclamation before quickly turning around and walking away but I was stopped because my cell phone suddenly rang.
"Oh hello Lou, why did you get called?"
"Bad!!!!"
"Oh vakla, why? You're screaming all of a sudden and why is the noise so loud, where are you?"
"There's a fire!"
"Huh? Fire? Where?!" I said that when I was surprised by what he said next.
I almost flew at the speed of my running to leave my place after Lou said that we were burned.
few weeks ago
"Oh Ariyah... It looks like you're not sleeping, you're losing weight too." Lou said when he went to visit me at the cafe where I joined as a part-timer a few days after the house that I just bought with my grandmother's savings burned down, which makes my mood difficult.
"Vakla, you know Lou is right, you look like you can't rest. Don't you really intend to tell your grandmother what really happened so you can ask for help."
"Prima is right, you need to tell your grandmother what happened so she can help you. Your salary here is not enough for your daily food, fare to school, for projects, and for your allowance. Another way your school fees. Preliminaries are coming soon." Lou spoke for a long time, which is why I screamed like crazy while messing with my hair.
"Hey, you're a year old, stop that, people are looking at us." Prima weaned me.
"Hey, I don't know what to do!!!" I exclaim because I feel like I'm going crazy with my situation.
"Oh, what are you going to do?" Lou suddenly made a serious promise, which is why I became serious as well.
"I don't know, all I know is that grandma can't find out what happened. She's already weak and has a heart disease, maybe she won't be able to handle it when she finds out that the house she just bought with the money she worked for all her life burned down."
"You're right, vakla, maybe your grandmother can't handle it. But how can you be like that?"
"Umm I don't know, just take care..."
"Sorry vakla hah, we can't help you because you know, I'm in the school dormitory and I have a roommate." Prima said sadly.
"I'm sorry too, you know, when we got burned, my family went back to our province and I'm living with my aunt." Lou said that he even stroked my back. Even though I was sad, I just smiled so they wouldn't worry.
"What are you doing? Why didn't anyone help? You, Lou, bought my school uniform and bag, and then you, Prima, paid for my fare and lunch at school. Then you also bought and gave me my things because everything was burned. , nothing was left behind except my clothes, bag, and cellphone that I had on the day of the fire. And-- the owner of this cafe was kind, he allowed me to occupy the staff room when he found out that I didn't have anything live until I move to the apartment I'm staying in now." I said enthusiastically that's why they smiled too.
"Hey, you really are, the venom is amazing! You're so strong against your boss..." Prima said sarcastically, which is why I suddenly felt embarrassed.
"Hey, don't worry, you vakla, that's my boss, don't think about it anymore."
"Well, why, isn't your boss a young man?" Prima teased again.
"And you're still handsome..." Lou replied.
"Hey you two, stop me, I think that Sir..." I just said to get them to stop.
After a while, I left the cafe. They took me to my boarding house before they went home.

Chapter 2
The next day, since my class was only until 3pm, I went straight to the cafe to work.
I went out at 6pm and decided to walk home to the boarding house to save on the fare.
The weather is gloomy that's why I also feel gloomy. I was anxiously walking along the sidewalk when my cell phone rang.
"Oh Grandma!!! How is this, it's broken!" I said nervously before my eyes automatically flashed to the house that I could use as props for my lie to Grandma.
I saw a large and elegant house a few meters from where I was, so I quickly walked to the opposite gate before I answered grandma's video call.
"Oh grandma! How are you?" I opened enthusiastically.
"Oh grandpa, I'm sorry and I just called you, you know here we don't have much signal so I had to come here to town just to talk to you." Grandma smiled and promised, so I felt even more guilty.
"Oh yes, grandma."
"Oh well, a month ago you told me that you bought a house that you can live in. I'm excited to see you." He said enthusiastically that's why I closed my eyes because of my lie.
"Oh grandpa, where is-- t-wait is that, that nice house behind you?" He said enthusiastically that's why I couldn't do anything but ride him.
"Ah- o-opo grandma, this is the house I bought with the money you gave me."
"Oh, grandpa... It's beautiful! I'm telling you, and you really won't let me down. Hey, I could hardly sleep in the past months and years because you were living alone in Manila in rented houses. Now I can sleep with peace of mind and peace of mind because you have a house to live in." He almost tearfully said that's why I became even more depressed behind my fake smiles.
"Ah-- umm, grandma...I-I wanted to tell you something--"
"Oh what's that grandpa?"
"Ah nothing. I just want to thank you for your love for me." I changed my mind because I didn't want to ruin his happiness.
"Hey, what are you doing, of course I'm your grandson! Oh, he's fine, I'm going to love you so show me around the house and maybe in a month I'll be able to call you again. I want to see the inside of the house."
" what?!"
"Oh why do you look so shocked?"
"Ah hehe, h-no grandma... okay." I said before slowly facing the gate when I saw the notice that the house was unoccupied even though it didn't look abandoned.
When I touched the gate it was not locked and opened slowly.
When I glanced at grandma on my phone, she was still smiling and excited so it was up to me, even though I was nervous, I entered the gate.
"Grandma, this is the yard of the house, isn't it beautiful?" I continued to lie while turning the camera around when I stopped and was surprised because I bumped into a man who was right behind me.
I almost fell, luckily he caught me while my cellphone fell on the bermuda grass and it was facing me that's why grandma saw the man.
I immediately let go of the man and immediately picked up my cellphone because grandma was still talking. I couldn't kill it because I felt guilty especially since grandma even went to town just to talk to me.
"Apo...who is the handsome young man who visited your house?" Grandma asked with a smile, which is why the man who was standing in front of me frowned.
I crossed my fingers secretly at him before turning back to grandma.
"Ah- grandma what, my b-boyfriend, grandma..." I tried to lie.
"Oh grandpa, you have a boyfriend that you didn't tell me about, he looks good and trustworthy, even handsome. I just hope he will protect you and take good care of you, especially if you are alone."
"Ah hehe, o-yes, grandma, he's a kind and good person, don't worry." I promised that I secretly glanced at the man who had no emotion on his face before.
"Umm, I'm happy like that. Oh hey, go ahead, show me around your house." Grandma said that's why the man's eyes widened and I was embarrassed to look again.
"Ah umm grandma what's wrong--" I couldn't continue what I was going to say when suddenly there was a loud lightning at the same time as huge raindrops fell.
I immediately said goodbye to grandma while the man ran to the main gate just next to the gate I entered earlier. He opened it and that's why the fancy car outside appeared.
He got into it and drove the car into the open gate.
The house was a few meters away from the gate, so I just followed the moving car to the parking lot of the house.
A few moments ago, the man came down and slightly messed his wet hair trying to remove the water, which is why I was stunned without realizing it.
It was only then that I stared at him hard and realized how handsome he was. He is tall and well proportioned. There is no cork from head to toe. He's just wearing a white polo with his silver necktie on and black slacks, tucked in. He also wears black shoes.
"Ehmm, hmm... M-Miss?!" There was nothing he promised to cause me to look at him and realize that I had been standing where I was, soaking wet from the rain.
I blushed because of embarrassment but I was shocked and quickly headed to the parking lot where he was without realizing it because I realized that my cellphone and school bag where the books and other stuff were.
Because of the speed of my running, I didn't notice that there was a small bump on the cement, which is why I tripped and accidentally hugged him with my thing scattered on the floor.
Because of his shock, he raised his hands slightly before looking down to look at me who was still hugging him.
I immediately looked back because I was blushing from extreme embarrassment.
This is the scene that a woman came out of the house who was still in shock.
"Professor Harris, what is going on here and who is he?!" It exclaims.
Because of the woman's exclamation, I immediately let go of the hug from the man she called Professor Harris.
"Ah ehmm, Manang Hilda, she's just-- ah umm nothing nevermind, are you leaving?" The man said seriously but gently.
"Ah o-okay. Yes, I'm leaving." The woman said that she gave me a suspicious look.
"Okay then I'll see you next Friday. For your payment today, I'll send it to tonight. You can check your account after that." It's a soft promise again. His voice is sweet and soothing.
"Ah .yes Sir I'm leaving, thank you." The woman responded with a smile and looked at me from head to toe as if she was judging my whole personality as she opened her giant umbrella.
When he got out of the gate, that's when I felt shy again because the man turned to me.
But I was surprised when he suddenly turned away from me and took his coat from the car before handing it back to me.
"Here..." He said.
"what?" My answer is confused.
"If you're planning to stay in my sight, you have to cover yourself cuz I can see everything." This promise again so I automatically looked at my chest and closed my eyes in shame as I wrapped the coat around my body which I immediately picked up.
By the way, I was wearing a white t-shirt, so when I read it, it became see through.
"So,,, what are you planning to do now, it's stormy, I think the typhoon just arrived." After a while, he made a serious promise as he sighed.
"T-Typhoon, S-Sir?" I'm surprised, I promise.
"Yes. Well it's rainy season so that's not supposed to be surprising." This promise is sarcastic.
"Naughty ah...it's even colder than the weather!" I whispered to myself when he looked at me and slightly raised an eyebrow.
I just bowed down because of shame. After a while he spoke again.
"I don't know about you whereabouts or why you're even here in my house right now but I can't be standing here til' the storm stops--"
"Ah yes, sir, I understand. You can go into your house, I'll just wait here. Don't worry, I'll leave as soon as the rain stops." Immediately if what he said is enough because I don't want to bother him anymore it's embarrassing.
"Okay then, that's for you to decide." This promise is still serious and I have left.
"Hey what's happening to me, it's embarrassing!" I exclaimed again while still standing next to the car and waiting for the rain to stop.
"Hey, he's very nice, isn't there even an offer to let me into his house. Hmm, I'm trespassing. Hey, this is crazy, Lord!" I ejaculated again after a few moments, but after a while I was fixed when the door opened and the man who was now at home spat out.
I didn't know what to say so I just gave him a big smile.
"I think the rain won't stop because there's a typhoon and you can't stay like that or else you'll acquire pneumonia. There are two rooms in this house, you can stay in the guest room then leave tomorrow." He said seriously before he tilts his head signaling me to go inside.
Because it was so cold and my body was soaked in my wet clothes, I didn't feel ashamed, so I went inside.
Besides, he doesn't look big, and if ever he is, like why not, he's handsome and hot. What am I thinking? He looks like he has nothing to do with the body he has. Colder than ice.
When I entered his house I was amazed at what I saw. Everything is clean, well-organized and minimalistic. It's embarrassing to put your feet on the floor.
After I changed with his pair of pajamas, I left the room to put my wet clothes inside the dryer so that I can dry them for use tomorrow.
I was about to go back to the guest room when I saw him in the living room facing his laptop that's why even though I was shy I went to him.
"Umm? You got something to tell me? Sit down." He said flatly that's why I sat down.
"Ah S-Sir--"
"Gian, Gian Harris. That's my name." He cut me off that's why I smiled.
"Ah S-Sir Gian, I just want to thank you--"
"It's okay. Forget about it. I don't want others to owe me." He said seriously and coldly and I can really feel what he's saying that's why I just nodded.
"Umm, o-okay. I-I can leave you guys." I just said before giving him a small smile but was about to stand up when he spoke.
"Ah- M-Miss--"
"Ariyah sir, my name is Ariyah Suarez." I promised immediately after I confronted him.
"Oh okay, Ariyah, wait here I'll get you something." He said and immediately went down to the first floor of the house.
I don't know what to think but I just sat down again.
When he returned, he was carrying a tray of food and a glass of milk.
"Sorry I forgot about this earlier, you must be hungry." He said softly that's why I was slightly stunned and stared at him. He really has a sweet and soothing voice that is like a lullaby to my ears.
"Umm Miss?! Ariyah!!!" After a while he said that's why I went back to my trance.
"Ah S-Sir Gian..." I exclaimed in a panic. He just grinned before placing the food on the table in front of me next to his laptop.
"You should eat. Maybe later you'll say I didn't even feed you." He said seriously but I still smiled.
"T-Thank you Sir, you shouldn't have bothered." I still speak
"Cut it out. Just eat and go to bed after. I'll leave you here, it must be uncomfortable for you to eat in front of a stranger." He said coolly and picked up his laptop.
When he reached the door of his room, we were both stunned when the doorbell rang. We still looked at each other because of that.

Chapter 3
He seems surprised and startled that's why I also felt nervous.
"You stay here. I'll check it out." He said seriously before putting the laptop back on the table and headed for the stairs.
And because I was really hungry and just shy of Sir Gian, I quickly devoured it while he wasn't there.
I was in the middle of drinking milk when I stopped because I heard a woman's voice and she was going up the stairs.
"Oh there she is!" Openly promised a familiar suspicious old woman when she saw me.
I just stood up because of the shock especially when his face was lit up.
"Mami'la?" I weakly exclaimed. I know her, she's my regular customer at the cafe and I talk to her often.
"Mami'la what are you doing here? It's late at night." Sir Gian spoke in a panic.
"What are you doing here, Apo, why not... If Hilda hadn't told me that she had a girlfriend, I wouldn't have known that she was living in your house." Mami'la continued to speak, which is why I smirked. I don't think he has seen me yet.
"Mami'la wait what? Manang Hilda told you about this?" Sir Gian also exclaimed.
"Yes! She called me while ago. That's why I quickly came here to see this future grand-daughter in law of mine. I want to see and meet the woman who is captive to your cold and hard heart." He was still smiling and that's why I was still smiling because I didn't know how I should react.
"Mami'la, there must be a misunderstanding here--" He started to say before he was cut off.
"Misunderstanding what? I see no problem here. Don't worry grandpa I'm not against you. wait-- A-Ariyah grandpa?! That's you!" Later he promised when he could look at me carefully.
"Ah haha-hi Mami'la, yes, it's me." I forced a smile of promise before I approached him to guide him.
"Oh, who would have thought that you were the girlfriend of my grandson that I always told you about. Why didn't you tell me?" This is a happy promise.
"Ah what's the matter Mami'la, I don't know because I already know he's the grandson you're talking about."
"What? So does that mean that this Gian didn't even tell you about me?" Mami'la said it was going to happen, which is why Sir Gian and I looked at each other.
"Ah-n-no, that's not true Mami'la, I mentioned you to him just not detailed." He is quick to lie.
"Oh okay...well anyways, that's not important anymore, what's important is this... it seems like you're doing things here, hmm you're even wearing Gian's pajamas." After a while, Mami'la said curiously, which is why Sir Gian and I looked at each other again.
"Mami'la wait wait... It's not what you're thinkin--"
"Hey grandpa, what are you doing, I can understand those things. What I don't understand is you, this is not what your grandpa taught you. In our family, we value traditional union of two people. Marriage should come first before anything else but what are you doing?" Mami'la still talked to Sir Gian that's why we were both counted.
"Ah- M-mami'la, w-nothing like that--" I was about to say but he spoke again.
"No it's okay iha. You don't have to defend my grandson. It's just like this, since you're just living together and doing things, let's talk about marriage. Gian has to take responsibility for what he did to you." He said nothing, that's why our eyes widened.
"what?!"
"Marriage?!"
Sir Gian and I exclaimed together.
"There's no why why, no but but... You should talk about it yourself and tell me your decision. Alright, I should go now to the guest room and rest. I'll see you guys tomorrow." Mami'la spoke again and left for the guest room where I was supposed to sleep.
Awkwardness prevailed between the two of us when Mami'la left.
"So, you and M-mami'la know each other?" He asked nothing to break the awkwardness between us.
"Ah yes, sir. I'm working at a cafe right now, so I often have him as a customer. He often seems to be deep in thought, so I accompany him when there aren't many customers." I'm telling a story.
"Oh I see. Sorry for what just happened. No worries, I'll talk to Mami'la to clear things out."
"Oh no!" I suddenly exclaimed that's why he was surprised.
"What do you mean? W-why not aren't you bothered by it?"
"Ah S-Sir, it's true that I-I'm a-awkward but I-I know Mami'la's situation."
He was stunned by what I said and his face became sad.
"So she mentioned about her illness?"
"O-yes and I also know that his only wish is to see you become girlfriends and get married until his illness gets worse." I said gently.
"Hey Mami'la, what should I...." He sighed and promised before shaking his head.
"Oh you guys are still here! Are you already discussing about your marriage?" Mami'la suddenly promised that she had just left the room.
"Ah Mami'la--" I said but Sir Gian held me by the hand.
"Umm yes Mami'la, don't worry, we're looking into that." He promised with a smile that's why I got on and nodded.
"How about you, why are you still awake?"
"Ah yeah. I just went out to get some water."
"I'll get you water then, Ariyah, go to the room first I'll follow." He turned to me but I was also restless that's why I volunteered to fetch water and they were left to fend for themselves.
I was about to go up the stairs when I stopped because I heard their conversation.
"Apo, I know Ariyah very well, she's a good girl, and I know that's she is your match. I know that you will complement each other very well." I heard Mami'la promise as they sat next to each other on the sofa.
"Mami'la, she's different from me. Look at our personalities. If you really know her well then you know that we are very different. We're just like two intersecting lines coming from different starting points and going into two different directions. " Sir Gian said but Mami'la only grinned before speaking again.
"Grandpa, I know you're smart that's why you're always going for facts and analytical explanations but here's my question. How do you think a puzzle can be completed?"
"Well for matt puzzles, they should be made of different shapes and sizes to match one another."
"Exactly apo! That's the same when it comes to choosing our significant others. Apo, what I'm meaning to say is that, you need a person who is different from you so that you can be able to intersect at some point. Because when the person you look for is someone who is the same as you, it will be boring, it seems that you're looking at yourself in the mirror. You and that person will just be like parallel lines, similar, but will never going to intersect. " Mami'la made a long promise before holding the hand of Sir Gian who was just listening silently.
"Apo, I really like Ariyah for you. She is simple, joyful, sweet and warm person. Ever since I first met her at the cafe I used to go to I always liked her, now that I've learned that she is I'm so happy to be your girlfriend."
"are you having so much fun? but why Mami'la, may I know?"
"Grandpa, you know what my only wish is before my illness gets worse and I forget everything, including you. Grandpa, my disease is Alzheimer's disease. You know that it won't take long for me to forget you, the our family. That's why I wish, before that day comes, to see you settle down with the woman who will teach you to be happy, have feelings, enjoy life, and most of all have warmth in your heart which is long gone."
"Mami'la, I always tell you that I'm perfectly fine. You don't have to worry about me anymore--"
"Apo, apart from me and your best friend, there is no other person close to you. I don't want you to be alone, that's why my eagerness to marry you off to the woman who is worthy for You're just saying that you're fine being alone but no, soon, you'll need someone to accompany you, a woman who will love you and care for you that's why I wanna make sure I can witness all of that right now Just yet. But of course, I want that woman to be the one I have approved for you. You know who I'm talking about." Mami'la had more suggestions. That's when I approached them.
"Oh he's here..."
"Ah- o-opo Mami'la, here's your water." I smiled in response.
"Oh he's fine, it's late. You rest and I'll rest too." Mami'la responded after taking the water and just looking at Sir Gian and me.
"Oh let's go.... What are you waiting for..." He smiled as he promised that's why Sir Gian and I didn't do anything but go to his room.
Since Mami'la really waited for us to enter the room before she entered the guest room, I did nothing but enter Sir Gian's room as well, even though it was very awkward and embarrassing.
"Ah hemm, you can sleep on the be--"
He initially promised but I immediately went to the sofa at the foot of the bed and sat there.
"Oh Sir, it's embarrassing. You're already in bed, I'm fine here. Non negotiable period! I'm already asleep and sorry for the trouble again. Good night!" I promised straight away and went to bed because the situation was really awkward.
"Okay then. I'm also sorry for all that just happened and thank you for riding in. Tomorrow, if you don't want to see Mami'la again, get up early so that she's still asleep. You can leave like that." He seriously promised.
I just nodded and didn't speak.
The next day, Sir Gian and I both woke up to three knocks from Mami'la.
"Lovebirds, wake up. Breakfast is ready!" She said sweetly before letting out another knock.
I was just embarrassed when I turned to Sir Gian because I didn't follow what he said that I should leave early so that Mami'la and I wouldn't reach each other, that's another pretending.
Because Mami'la had an emergency meeting, she left earlier. Next I also left after washing the food and getting dressed. Sir Gian was currently getting dressed so I didn't knock him. I just left a thank you note on the table.
After that day, I returned to the reality of my life. Mami'la didn't show up at the cafe for a few days, so I felt a little worried for reasons I couldn't explain.
Gian's Pov
It's been a week since Mami'la was confined here in the hospital. I just came from school and rushed here because Mami'la's doctor wants to talk to me.
"Mr. Harris, I'm so sad to tell you but your grandmother's condition is not getting better. Alzheimer's disease has no cure yet. No operation, no remedy. It can only be slowed from affecting the patient through medication. That's the only thing we can do to slow down your grandmother's brain function from fast deterioration." My whole body got cold because what Dr. Kevin said.
"if that's the case Doc, what else could I possibly do to help my grandmother?"
"If you're talking about cure, there's nothing you can do but I suggest that you should spend more time with her, make happy memories with her, and do the things that will make her happy or give the things that she wishes to have . That will help her forget about her sickness and help her out of distress. If she's emotionally happy, the worsening of her illness will slow down. If that happens, I can guarantee you at least 1 or 2 year extension before she gets worse and worse forget everything little by little." Long explanation by Dr. Kevin that's why I just nodded.
"Thanks Doc. You can count on me to do everything to make her happy as long as she remembers."
"Good luck Mr. Harris, you can call me anytime, if you need anything." He said before gently patting me on the shoulder and leaving.
