The bell at the door rang indicating a recent customer. And as soon as they stepped inside, the bell clanging, the entire diner fell silent.
I glanced up and saw the most handsome man I have ever seen in my entire life. He is around 6'3 and had the most alluring near-black eyes and midnight colored hair that was neatly slicked back making him appear more intimidating.
He was wearing a fine black tailored suit, which I assume might be Armani. It hugged his body too well, making his muscles look more eye-catching. There were two guys wearing the same attire as him, following close behind.
Everything about this guy screams power and wealth, and I would be lying if I said that I didn't feel intimidated by him.
As he walked, everyone parted and cleared a path for him and his... bodyguards? As soon as he got seated, I quickly averted my eyes not wanting to get caught staring.
I noticed that every girl in the diner was trying to catch his attention but he looked like he was completely unbothered by what he was getting. His eyes pierced his surroundings, and a face that has death written across it.
Tina, my coworker came over to my side, '' Go and take their orders'' she said whispering, making me almost choke on my own spit. I quickly recovered myself and shook my head no.
'' Why in the bloody hell not?'' she questioned looking at me in disbelief.
There was no way I would go near them knowing all too well that I would surely do something to embarrass myself.
''Girls will die to be in your place right now'' she remarked looking at me in disbelief.
''Well, I'm nervous. Can you blame me? '' I remarked, playfully rolling my eyes at her. ''Just go!'' Tina exclaimed.
A sigh escaped from my lips as I reluctantly headed over to their table to get their orders. My palm started to sweat and shake badly at this time.
My wobbly legs took me to them ''Good evening, I'll be your waitress for tonight. What can I get for you?'' I started in my professional voice, trying real hard not to stammer.
I looked up to them and saw him staring at me so intently. I felt my body starting to shake and my heart pounding out my chest. His stare is so intense that it can make anyone cower away.
''I'll get number 5, please'' said the guy with brown eyes, he looked the most friendly among the three of them. And as I'm about to write the order, the pen slipped from my hand as they were shaking and sweating violently. I was about to get down and to pick it up but the grey-eyed man already beat me to it.
He hands me the pen slightly brushing his fingertips against mine. I felt electricity washed over my body making me look up to him and to see that he was already staring at me.
I felt the heat slowly creeping up to my cheeks, making me quickly look away, not wanting to let him see that he had an effect on me, so I hastily wrote down their orders and literally ran away from them.
After going to the kitchen, I told Tina to give them their food not wanting to go anywhere with that grey-eyed monster.
But little did I know that it wasn't the last time he would walk into this diner.

As soon as the grey-eyed monster and his friends left, I released a breath I didn't know I was holding. I could breathe more peacefully, and as much as I'm happy that he left, there's a minor part in me dreading that I didn't even get a chance to know his name.
It's true that he's a dangerous man, but there's something that attracts me towards him and at the same time scares the living day out of me.
After their departure, it looks like I'm not the only one who's relieved that they were gone, the whole diner went back to normal noisy place as if the burden on their shoulders were lifted off, but Tina, however, is dejected that they went away so quickly, ''I'm enjoying the view'' she said as she looked at them or should I say stare.
The time flew so fast that I didn't even realize that it was now time the diner closes.
I went to the changing room to change into my normal clothes as I was wearing a uniform when I saw that Andrew, my co-worker sitting on one of the chairs as if he's waiting for someone
" Hey!" I greeted him.
He shot his head up to look at me and smiled.
" Aren't you going home?" I questioned him, making him smile sheepishly.
" Um, yeah, I was waiting for you" he mumbled, slightly stammering and anyone looking at him right now can clearly tell that he was nervous.
I smiled encouragingly at him, in order to make him feel a little bit better and comfortable.
" Oh okay, do want to say something?" I inquired him once again, which made him shook his head no.
"No, no " He quickly replied "I just wanna spend some time with you as the diner is always so packed that we don't even get time to talk anymore" he explained, making me nod my head yes, agreeing with him.
Changing, me and Andrew exited the diner, continuously conversing with each other as if we hadn't met each other for years.
Andrew is a good friend of mine, I knew him since the first day Mario, the diner's owner offered me a job and after talking and working with each other, Andrew confessed that he liked me but, I told him that we're just friends and should stay friends which he agreed and I was thankful for it as I didn't want to ruin our friendship or make things awkward between us.
Andrew decided to walk me to my apartment tonight, which I, of course, agreed, wanting some company because I know too well that I will definitely think about that grey-eyed man and also because I missed talking to my friend.
Or maybe just because you're dying to ask about the grey-eyed monster, my inner conscience taunted.
As we walked through the night, I was debating with myself whether I should ask Andrew about him or not.
I gave up finally when I realized I got nothing to lose. "Can I ask you something?" I asked him.
"You already did, flower" he replied, smiling.
I stopped on my track and turned to look at him " Who was that guy ..." I didn't even get to finish my question, but by looking at Andrew's expression it looked like he already knew who I was talking about.
"You stay away from him and his friends, you get me? He stated with a serious expression on his face that clearly shows he's not messing with me.
"But why?" I questioned him, giving him my full attention.
" You don't wanna mess with those guys, they won't even think twice putting a bullet between your eyes." He responded, with his voice full of emotions that I could not seem to point down.
Goosebumps appeared on my arms as I thought about Andrew's words.
"And they get away by doing that? How?" I asked him, desperate to get some answers.
There were a lot of questions swarming inside my head that were dying to be asked but I could not find any words to put it.
Andrew sighed "They're really powerful and influential. Their leader Stefano Ricci has a strong connection with the police which helps him a lot getting away with their deeds" he said finally giving up, and by the time he finished talking about him, I was left dumbfounded that I didn't even realize we already reached my apartment.
So, behind that handsome face hides a monster, but why do I still feel that there's something more about him?
But whatever it is, it would be better if I stay out of it.

After Andrew left, I was once again left with my own thoughts. My conversation with Andrew kept on circling inside of my head, making me feel like my brain will burst out of my head anytime soon by not being able to keep up with my billions of thoughts.
I opened the door to my bathroom to take a shower to clear my mind.
After taking a shower, I got dressed and laid on my bed, and once again thinking about the grey-eyed monster. A tired sigh escaped from my lips as I closed my eyes trying hard not to think about those beautiful grey eyes as I let sleep finally took over my body.
*******
An irritating sound blasted from my phone showing its time to wake up and go to work. A groan escaped from my lips as I opened my eyes to turn off my alarm.
I lazily dragged myself to the bathroom to brush my teeth and to do my other morning rituals.
After I got dressed for work, I headed out for work. And as I strolled around the streets of New York, I noticed that I will never get used to it as I watch so many people rushing to get to their works frantically.
A faint smile made their way to my lips as I recalled how my mother and father always wanted me to see me standing on my own feet but sadly they left me by a car accident leaving me all alone in this cold, dark world.
After their death, Mario and his wife took me as their own daughter, they treated me like their own and I will be forever grateful for the things they did for me.
I remember Mario's wife Lynda once told me " You're the daughter that God never gave us" and at that moment one thing I realized was that God may have taken my parents away from me but he did make sure he gave me another.
Entering the diner the first thing I noticed is Mario. Seeing me, he lifted up his arms wanting to hug me, I went over to him and gave him a hug.
" Hi, my dear" he greeted with a warm smile on his face that I would never get tired seeing every day.
"Hello old man" I greeted back teasing him but our sweet short moment was soon broken by the bell indicating we already have a customer.
I proceeded to the locker room to change into my uniform and got ready to face the day.
Throughout the day, I kept on glancing at the door hoping to catch a glimpse of the grey-eyed monster.
I don't really know his name but after my conversation with Andrew last night I got to know that his last name is De Costello, well that's what most calls him.
Finally realizing that he won't come, I focused on my work. I don't really know what came over me that for a second I really thought he was going to come today to see me.
Oh someone has a crush my inner conscience kept telling me
"Shut up!" I whisper shouted too annoyed by her that I didn't even realize that I said it aloud enough for someone to hear me.
"Whom are you talking to?" inquired Tina which I quickly replied saying "No one".

After my shift, I went directly home as I was too tired and couldn't wait for a nice warm bath.
While walking on the busy streets of New York, I can't help but feel as if someone's keeping an eye on me. I kept on glancing backward just to make sure no one was following me.
A sigh escaped from my lips, maybe I'm just overthinking. I keep telling myself trying to reassure that maybe I'm just too tired or too paranoid.
As I reached my apartment, I quickly strip out my clothes as my body itched to get inside the tub.
Sitting in the tub filled with warm water and bubbles, I suddenly heard my phone go off in my room.
A frown made their way in my face, who might be calling me at this time of the night?
Getting up from the tub and I wrapped a towel around my body and went to my room but as I was about to pick up my phone, it stopped ringing. I glanced down at the id number and it showed unknown.
I frowned looking at my phone thinking who it might be and just as I was about to return to the bathroom, my phone started to ring again making me jump in the process at the sudden sound.
"Hello?" I said picking up the phone but no one was speaking I looked at the screen making sure the caller didn't hang up already
" Hello?" I repeated but still, no one spoke.
I sighed, (which I tend to do a lot lately), as I hung up thinking maybe it was just a mistake and went back to the bathroom to continue my bath but then realized that it has already turned cold. So, drowning the water and I went over to my closet to wear something and laid on my bed with one thing on my mind.
Maybe it was him.
Ohhh don't be silly, why will he call you? He doesn't even know your name let alone your number, my inner self debated.
