Anita Baker, a 24-year-old lady, just graduated from the university. She's the first daughter of her parents and has five younger sisters. Her father is a banker while her mother is a trader.
She's fair in complexion, very beautifully shaped with sexy curvy hips.
Amongst all her sisters, she's the only fair-skinned amongst them as the rest of her sisters are dark with some fair brown in complexion.
Anita looks like her mother but more beautiful as sometimes her father usually accuses her mother of cheating on him and he doubts he's truly her father as she's so white, but her mother has always kept mute about it and tells her not to mind her father that she's really his child.
Anita's father even threatens to run a paternity DNA test on her as he cannot understand why she's so white unlike the rest of her sisters.
Her immediately younger sister, Flora who's a 22-year-old dark skin beauty, also dislikes her even though she's two years older than her.
About four of her sisters hate her except for her youngest sister named Glory that genuinely loves her.
They say blood is thicker than water, but in Anita's case water is thicker than blood.
Anita's father, Mr. Joshua Baker, doesn't stop in sending her to school as he only accuses his wife of cheating on him and forcing another man's child on him so he could marry her, but nonetheless he still sends Anita to the university to study business administration.
Anita is so happy as she writes her final exams and the results finally come out in flying colors.
Well because of her father's constant accusation towards her calm mother, Mrs. Tonia Baker, Anita has refused to accept any relationship from any guy asking her out to be his woman, as she only goes out on a date with them but ends up rejecting their love proposal to her.
Anita's best friend in the university, Temisa Patrick, has also advised her to give love a chance but she refused and said, "My father constantly accuses my mother of cheating on him and yet he still goes back to her and gets her pregnant to birth the six of us. Mother says he loves her but his insults to her daily don't show to us that he truly loves her."
Anita shook her head as she spoke to her friend when they were still in year two in the university. Guys are tripping to have her, handsome and well-to-do guys, but Anita feels they only want to use her, and once they cross the bridge and break her virginity they will dump her or accuse her of cheating, just like her father constantly does to her mother, wanting to send her and her mother into depression.
Anita sits in a private room with her best friend preparing for their final convocation.
"Anita, I am so happy, finally we will be parting from this school, I cannot explain how much I have missed home," Temisa says.
"Me too," Anita faintly replies, knowing it isn't entirely true with her as she hates home and knows she will be facing her father's constant insults towards her and her mother again, while her three younger sisters, Flora, Esther, and Favour will want to torment the hell out of her, calling her an outcast as they're jealous of her looks, like is entirely her fault.
Anita shakes her head in sadness and Temisa notices.
"What is it, girlfriend? You don't seem to look happy, even though you're graduating as one of the best graduating students today in our university?" Temisa asks, as she stands up from her seat facing the mirror and walks up to meet Anita sitting on the couch, but she shakes her head again and stares away from Temisa, not responding.
"What's the problem, dear?" Temisa approaches and crouches in front of Anita, even though she knows what the problem is, as Anita has told her why she hates men in general and sees them as scumbags.
"Not to worry, when I get home I can talk to my mother to allow you to come live with us, even though it is just for your I.T, until you get a better job to cater for yourself," Temisa proposed.
"Thank you." Anita smiles faintly, and Temisa responds, "You're welcome. You know you're like a sister to me, so you don't have to worry or cry much. Graduating with a first class is no joke, so you should be happy, as today is your most blessed day. Come sit here, let me apply some makeup on your face."
Temisa pulls Anita to stand up from her seat, and Anita smiles faintly and walks to sit on the seat facing the mirror in their private room they share.
"You know I don't like makeup," Anita says as she sits and watches Temisa open one of her makeup kits and start preparing her brush.
"I know, but today is your lucky day, so you should look sweet when collecting your awards. So no excuses from you, just do this for me okay, as it will make you smile throughout today and lighten your mood," Temisa says.
"Okay," Anita replies and she stares at her beautiful reflection displaying in the mirror and Temisa starts applying the beautiful brown powder on her face.
Temisa starts on Anita's eyelashes first, and after that she switches to work on Anita's cheeks and nose, applying the beautiful makeup powder. As she's through, making her over, Anita is stunned by her new looks in the mirror as she has never applied makeup on her face before. Staring at her new reflection in the mirror, Anita is speechless as she now understands why Temisa has so many boyfriends.
Temisa is a billionaire's daughter as her father works in the Benson group of companies. The Benson family is one of the richest in their country, and Anita has read about the Benson family and wishes she could work for them. This is the reason why she studied so hard and read day and night to graduate as one of the best graduating students in her university.
Anita has thought of asking Temisa if she could help her ask her father for an application in the BENSON GROUP, but she knew if she did that, it might seem like she's trying to gain a favor which she didn't merit. It might make others see her as a golddigger or a lady selling out her body to men to gain favor from them. So she thought against it and decided not to ask Temisa for her father's help again.
"All done now. Don't you see how you look so sweet in the mirror, oh my god! I'm the best makeup artist here on campus," Temisa fans herself with her hand while Anita smiles at her.
"Don't over-hype yourself too much because of my girlfriend. Yes, you tried but still I don't like makeups," Anita admits.
"Tar! Shut up. I'm hoping a handsome guy will see you today and ask you out," Temisa giggles.
Everything about her is guys, as she changes boyfriends every month like pants and she's mean when it comes to multiple relationships.
She doesn't care what her fellow ladies have to say as she also doesn't believe in love, but rather spends time dating different guys.
Temisa never admits to sleeping with any of the guys she goes out on a date with, and that's something difficult to believe. As she's always seen with different guys, some at the beach, some in a restaurant, and some in a club house, taking different photos with her. Yet she claims she's still a virgin, after Anita also told her she was also a virgin.
Anita didn't believe Temisa because a virgin is supposed to be calm and keep to herself, so no guy will use her. But Temisa, she dresses hot, wearing bum shorts, crop tops, and all sorts of seductive and tempting clothes.
Temisa is a dark-skinned beauty, sexy curvy like Anita, but she isn't jealous of Anita being white and light-skinned. They're in the same department and studied the same course, making them become best friends.
Anita is more intelligent than her while Temisa is the party hard type.
"Let's go out now, I am sure most of our families will have arrived," Temisa says as she quickly packs her remaining things and makeup kits into her box and zips her box closed.
They rented the room, so they stayed back most times in the room even though the school is on holiday.
It's their final year to say goodbye, so Anita drags out all her bags and boxes as she's already going back home after the awarding ceremony.
They step out to witness the university final event and the awarding of the best graduating student.
Anita Baker was called and awarded a first-class award and recognition for her academic excellence, while Temisa is all smiles as she claps for her friend who steps out from where she's sitting among the crowd of groups of friends and families that attend their convocation ceremony, to go and receive her awards.
In Benson Group, Mr. Taiye Jackson sits in the front seat in the conference hall, where they're having a meeting with their different boards of members working under him in his other companies, all of which are registered underneath his name.
He speaks to his personal assistant softly in his ear like a whisper, "Introduce the new head to them now."
While they sit in the meeting hall waiting to meet the newly appointed CEO whose name has been announced, none of the workers has seen him yet. Mr. Taiye Jackson is the former CEO, while his late father, Mr. Benjamin Jackson, was the first to establish the Benson Group of companies, which means Benjamin and Sons Group of companies.
They sit waiting to witness the new handling of company ownership to Mr. Taiye's only son, Liam Jackson.
He's rumored to be cold, unfilial, and the workers know that once he resumes the position as the new CEO, they will be dealt with harshly, as some have heard of him being arrogant, mean, and unappreciative. Nonetheless, he is very hardworking and runs some private businesses in the states before his father finally announced his retirement plan to him, asking him to return to his country to run his multimillion-dollar companies.
Liam had initially refused, as he didn't want to return to Nigeria, as he didn't find anything interesting there, except for his mother, who is a god-fearing Christian mother. She dresses modestly and never skips attending church to pray for her husband and him, as he is her only child.
Liam was made to understand that his mother underwent a lot of marital crisis at the beginning of her marriage with his father, as his grandfather, Mr. Benjamin Jackson, had opposed his son, Mr. Taiye, marrying his mother, Mrs. Juliet.
But because his father truly loved his mother, even though women were trying to seduce him and calling his mother barren, his father insisted on marrying only his mother, Mrs. Juliet, without having extramarital affairs.
He stuck to his wife, Mrs. Juliet Jackson, and stood by her, even though his family refused and stated she couldn't bear him another child even after 10 years of Liam's own birth.
Liam's mother had many miscarriages, and he knew it was because she worried so much about his father leaving her and marrying another woman, which caused her to lose all those babies she had carried in her womb, except for him. He just turned 30 years old, while his mother is 60 years old and his father is 68 years old.
Liam loves his parents nonetheless, but he is angry that his father tricked him by lying about being sick and arranging a fake doctor to call him and tell him about his father's ill health over the phone, asking him to return from the states. Liam was annoyed to return home and see his father healthy and attending business meetings.
Inside the headquarters of the Benson Group of companies, where they have oil manufacturing products, gas implants, steel production, and other basic amenities, Liam is in one of the private rooms on the second floor, adjusting his necktie as he wears a long white shirt and plain black trousers, with his black suit on the table.
His father had spoken to him about introducing him to their different boards of members and partners managing their businesses.
He breathes out heavily and finally picks up his suit to wear. Just then, his assistant, Brown Anderson, whom his father had first assigned to him on his first day at the company, knocks on the door of the private room, and he responds, "Come in."
"Boss, it's time for the introduction to begin," Brown informs him, and he nods and puts on his black suit properly.
Just as Liam steps out, his father's spokesperson announces to the rest of the prominent men and women sitting in the large meeting hall, "Welcome Master Liam Jackson, New CEO of Benson Group of Companies Limited." The hall immediately erupts in a round of applause as he steps to the front and climbs onto the podium. His father is sitting at the front seat, while his father's assistant, Mr. Silas Greystone, hands him the microphone to address their staff.
"Thank you all for acknowledging our invitation and being witnesses to my appointment as the new CEO of BENSON GROUP. I would like us to continue with our integrity and work hard to build our company into a beacon of transparency and quality products. Thank you all for being a part of my new journey," he hands the microphone back to Mr. Silas and steps down from the podium. The applause increases as he walks to his seat, and a few top heads immediately stand up to shake hands with him as he approaches to sit in the available seat.
Liam shakes hands with them before sitting, and they return to their seats. His father, Mr. Taiye Jackson, smiles faintly at him and stands up to give his own speech before the final closing remarks from Silas.
"Thank you all for honoring my invitation and being witnesses to this new beginning with our new CEO, who is none other than my son, Liam Jackson. I appreciate all of our past workers who have worked hard to uplift our company's name and create a reputation of transparency. I would like all of you, old and new workers, and those in retirement, to respect and work harmoniously with our new CEO. Please follow whatever decisions he makes to help our company grow globally. Thank you all once again. Silas, I hand it over to you to close the meeting for today." Mr. Taiye hands the microphone back to Silas, who announces some new products and prices before delivering the closing speech. The invitees and workers stand up and exit the meeting hall after the meeting with their new CEO concludes.
Liam remained in the meeting hall with his father after the numbers of guests and members reduced, leaving just a few discussing. He stood up and walked over to meet his father, who was talking with his friend, Mr. John Patrick, one of their managing accountants.
"Father, I want to have a word with you," Liam told his father, so he could finish his conversation with his friend, Mr. John Patrick, who worked as one of their managing accountants and was very trusted with their company's funds.
"Okay son, I will be with you shortly," Mr. Taiye responded, while Mr. John finally turned to face Liam.
"Oh Master Liam, congratulations on your new position," Mr. John smiled faintly at Liam.
"Thank you sir, it is an honor meeting you and working here with all of you," Liam replied.
"You can always count on us, Liam. Your father is my boss and a very good friend, and I am so happy to see you taking over his position. I know you will lead us to much better growth than your father and grandfather ever did."
"Thank you, sir," Liam smiled faintly, as he loved praise from his friends, colleagues, and even elders, as it motivated him to work hard.
"You're welcome, Liam. Mr. Taiye, I am leaving. My daughter will be very upset with me for not showing up at her school convocation today, even after she called me to come with her mother to the university," Mr. John said as he turned to face Mr. Taiye.
"You know I cannot miss your son being introduced to us as the new CEO, so I asked her mother and her elder brother to attend her convocation on my behalf. She will be very annoyed with me about that."
"Oh, I am so sorry about that, Mr. John. I hope she understands," Mr. Taiye apologized.
"Yes, she will," Mr. John nodded with a faint smile on his face, wanting to leave.
"How about I make up for that and have her introduced to my son, and maybe extend our family friendship to marriage. I am sure she will be happy about that," Mr. Taiye proposed, but Liam frowned immediately from where he was standing, waiting for his father to finish his conversation with his friend, Mr. John.
"Oh, thank you, Boss, but that's only if she will accept," Mr. John quickly rejected, knowing how stubborn his daughter was and not wanting her to cause any problems between him and his boss.
"Why wouldn't she accept? Liam is handsome and every girl wants him. What did she study in the university again?" Mr. Taiye asked, and Liam's frown deepened as he stared from his father to Mr. John.
Women weren't his interest, and Liam didn't like how his father was trying to set him up with a lady he hadn't even met and doubted he would like, just because he was friends with her father.
Mr. John Patrick smiled at Mr. Taiye and said, "Oh, she studied Business Administration at the University of Nigeria."
"That's fine then. Have her submit her CV to us once she's home. I'm sure we have more vacancies for newcomers like her. I will be expecting her response."
"Father!" Liam quickly cut off his father's speech as his frown deepened.
"You cannot just court me with her yet," Liam said, and his father smiled at him.
"I know, son. I am just trying to compensate Mr. John Patrick for his goodwill and commitment in working with us for over twenty years," Mr. Taiye responded, while Mr. John only smiled faintly at Liam and bowed slightly before leaving.
"I will be taking my leave now, boss. Thank you and congratulations once again, Liam," Mr. John said as he left.
Liam nodded as he heard Mr. John's last words and walked with his father back to the front of the meeting hall, standing near the exit door and said, "I don't like all you just did right now, father. There are many other ways to compensate Mr. John without it being at my own detriment."
"What do you mean by that, son? Mr. John has been a committed worker. I know you won't understand all of this because you're new here with us, but it's okay. Besides, he said if only his daughter agrees. She might not even accept to work with us, and there's no need for you to worry about all I just said now," Mr. Taiye said as he turned to leave the meeting hall. Liam replied to him, "I hope she doesn't, father. Women aren't of interest to me for now."
"Liam!" Mr. Taiye stopped and stared back at his son, shaking his head.
"You shouldn't say that in front of your mother. Someday you'll find a good wife, but let's focus on business and forget about all I just said," Mr. Taiye said.
"Okay, father," Liam sighed and watched his father exit the meeting hall, leaving only him and his personal assistant in the hall. Brown walked back into the meeting hall to meet Liam immediately after his father left.
"What should I do now, boss?" Brown asked as he stood in front of Liam.
"Prepare the car. I will be going back home for today. All official duties start tomorrow."
"Okay, boss," Brown said as he exited the meeting hall on the second floor and walked downstairs to inform Liam's personal driver to prepare the car.
"Israel, get the car ready. The boss is about to leave," Brown informed Israel on the ground floor, and Israel nodded.
The Benson Group is a 5-storey multi-million dollar company with lots of staff and workers. Liam stepped out of the elevator and walked towards the car park, where some of their workers were standing beside their cars, discussing as it was a free day with not much work to be carried out. His father had given them a break the previous day to witness him as the new CEO.
Liam sat in the back seat as Israel started the car's engine and drove him home to the Benson residential villa.
Liam stepped down from the car and walked straight to the living room downstairs, but his mother wasn't there as she was in the kitchen cooking. Despite having many maids and servants working for them in their home, Mrs. Juliet Jackson still preferred doing the cooking herself as she loved cooking their local dishes.
A maid stepped out to welcome Liam as she heard the sound of the car arriving. She bowed to him and greeted him in a courteous manner, "Welcome back Master Liam."
"Thank you," Liam replied and stared away from her as he made his way towards the kitchen to find his mother.
The aroma of the food she was preparing had filled the entire living room. She was preparing the popular Egusi soup garnished with beef and fresh fish.
"Good afternoon, mom," Liam greeted his mother as he walked into the kitchen. The two maids assisting his mother immediately bowed their heads lower to him, "Welcome back Master Liam."
"Thanks," Liam nodded to them while his mom washed her hands in the kitchen sink, dried them with her short kitchen towel, and walked up to meet him, giving him a warm hug.
"Welcome home, son. How was your day today in the office?" Mrs. Juliet asked.
"Fine, mother. Hasn't father arrived home yet?" Liam asked in return, and she replied, "No, son. Probably he's with his friends. You know he's happy you finally returned and have now resumed the position as the new CEO."
"I know, mom," Liam smiled faintly at his mother as he stepped out first from the kitchen. His mother instructed the cook on what to do, as her meal was almost done.
"Just keep an eye on it so it won't get burnt. Once it's ready, serve it right away," Mrs. Juliet instructed a maid.
"Okay, Ma'am," Nora responded, as she was the cook. She headed to all the maids and servants in their home, and Mrs. Juliet finally walked out to meet her son as he sat on the long couch stretching his long legs. She stepped out dressed in her usual long brown gown and removed her kitchen apron from her chest, handing it over to a maid who stepped out next after her.
"Here, take this to the laundry room and wash it."
"Okay, ma'am." The maid collected the apron and left, while Mrs. Juliet walked up to sit on the opposite couch across from Liam.
"Mom, why are you stressing so much on cooking when you have the maids and cooks at your service?" Liam asks, as he watches his mother sit.
"I know that, son, but you know cooking is part of exercise and I enjoy cooking too. I cannot leave all the work to the maids and cooks, I might end up becoming lazy and sick as I have already retired this year from the Nursing home before you returned."
"Hmm," Liam hums.
"It's okay, mother. So long as you're not stressed with it, I am okay with that," he replies.
"Not at all, son. Tell me, how did the event go?"
"Fine, mother. It was just a simple meeting of the new staff, but I don't like how some of the young female staff dressed," Liam states, as his face twists in irritation.
"What do you mean by that, son? Weren't they wearing clothes or how else did you expect them to dress?" Mrs. Juliet asks, with wide eyes open as she's confused with her son's claims.
"Decently, mother. Decently! That's how a corporate worker is supposed to dress for office work. Decently, not trying to seduce anyone at work."
"Oh, Liam!" Mrs. Juliet has a faint smile on her face.
"They're young females and probably searching for a husband. You don't expect them to dress like a married woman covering everywhere. And besides, they might want you to admire one of them."
"No, mother! That's not something I will allow. Tomorrow I will give a new dress code order to Brown and any of the new female staff and old staff that cannot follow suit are expected to quit."
"Liam! You won't do just that. You just resumed the CEO position. You won't be harsh to your workers and colleagues at the office just because you're their boss," Mrs. Juliet frowns.
"I'm sorry, mom. But that's how I would like them to start dressing from tomorrow. I will have them inspected at the gate before they're allowed into the company, and I've already prepared the dress code. Brown will give out the information to them tomorrow." Liam stands up and Mrs. Juliet is dumbfounded.
"Liam!" She finally calls him and he stops.
"I'm sorry, mom, but if father interjects in this, then I will have to resign from the company, as one must keep his or her focus and I won't like to be tempted by any of my female staff."
"Okay, son. If that's how you want it, I just hope there won't be any backlash in the company's already growth."
"Not at all, mother." Liam finally smiles at his mother, seeing his mom already agrees.
"I will have to go upstairs now and freshen up. The aroma of the soup is inviting. Let me freshen up first and come back downstairs to join you for dinner."
"Okay, son, I will be expecting you." Mrs. Juliet Jackson watches as her son takes the stairs in the living room and walks up to the second floor as their house is a standard duplex. Even though her husband has the money to purchase a multimillion-dollar mansion, she still prefers them staying in the Benson Villa as it keeps a lot of her past memories alive.
She sighs as she stands up to prepare the dining table with the maids, and just then her husband arrives home with another of his friends, Mr. Tunji Martin, and she greets them as they walk into the living room and meet her walking towards the dining room.
"Welcome, Honey!" Mrs. Juliet walks back to welcome her husband, even though he's 68 years old, she doesn't fail to call him honey.
"Wow, the aroma of the soup is inviting," Mr. Taiye says to his wife and she smiles at him.
"Where's Liam? Isn't he back yet?" Mr. Taiye asks.
"He's back, he went up to freshen up," Mrs. Juliet replies.
"Okay, meet my friend Tunji, we have a little business discussion, but that will have to wait, as Tunji will be joining us for dinner."
"Okay, Honey," Mrs. Juliet smiles at Mr. Tunji and he greets her, "Well done, ma."
"Welcome," she responds.
