The sky outside the operating room window began to turn red, indicating that dusk was coming soon. Inside the cold room, Dr. Arkan Rahadian stood straight, his gaze focused on the operating area before his eyes. His trained fingers moved nimbly, with near-perfect precision, parting the patient's skin and carefully repairing the visible damage.
"Dr. Arkan, is the patient's blood pressure stable?" asked the nurse next to him in an anxious tone.
Arkan didn't answer, just nodded slowly while still concentrating on his work. It had been more than two hours since the operation began, and everyone in the room knew that Arkan didn't like to be disturbed while he was working.
Of all the surgeons in this hospital, Arkan is the most respected and the most feared. Not because he is rude or unfriendly, but because of his extremely cold and professional demeanor, as if no one could penetrate the wall he built around himself.
However, despite being known as a doctor who is not easy to approach, Arkan can always be relied on. Not a single operation he led ended in failure. That is why, even though many are afraid and reluctant to work with him, they still admire him.
"Good," Arkan murmured softly as he finally completed the complicated procedure. "We did it."
Everyone in the room breathed a sigh of relief. The operation was completed successfully, as expected from Arkan Rahadian.
The arrival of Dr. Nya:
The hospital was once again bustling with morning activity when Dr. Naya Prameswari arrived on her first day of work. Her cheerful smile and light steps immediately caught the attention of several nurses who were chatting in the hallway.
"Welcome, Dr. Naya," greeted one of the nurses, Dewi, politely. "We heard that you just finished your specialization. Welcome here!"
Naya smiled widely, showing her sweet dimples. "Thank you, Mbak Dewi. I am very happy to be able to work here. Hopefully I can learn a lot from all my colleagues."
Dewi chuckled. "With that kind of enthusiasm, I'm sure you'll adjust quickly. Oh, by the way, have you met Dr. Arkan?"
"Not yet, Miss. But I've heard his name often. He's the best surgeon here, right?"
"That's right," Dewi replied in a respectful tone. "But be careful, Dr. Arkan is known to be very cold. Don't expect too much to be able to have a long chat with him."
Naya just smiled at the warning. She was not easily intimidated, and although she was a little nervous about meeting a doctor who was already very experienced like Arkan, she also felt challenged. Naya was the type of person who always wanted to give her best, and she was determined to prove her abilities, even to the coldest doctor.
That morning, Dr. Arkan arrived at the hospital earlier than usual. The sky was still dark, and there were only a few vehicles passing by on the road. The room was still quiet, only the faint hum of the air conditioner could be heard. He turned on the desk lamp, sat down in his chair, and opened the files that needed to be reviewed before this morning's surgery.
However, his thoughts were constantly disturbed by something unexpected-Dr. Naya. The young woman, with her ever-cheerful smile, made Arkan feel disturbed. He never let anyone into his life, let alone a woman. However, Naya was different. There was something about her that made Arkan unable to just ignore her.
Arkan rubbed his face with his hand, trying to dispel the thoughts. "Focus, Arkan," he whispered to himself. "She's just a coworker, nothing more."
However, the sound of footsteps outside his office door made him look up. Naya stepped in, still wearing her white doctor's coat, with a smile that never left her face.
"Good morning, Dr. Arkan," she greeted pleasantly, sitting down in the chair in front of Arkan's desk. "Have you reviewed our patient's case today?"
Arkan nodded briefly. "Yes. The case is quite complicated, but I'm sure we can handle it."
Naya realized Arkan's tone remained cold and formal, but she was not bothered. For her, it was part of the challenge to get closer to this doctor. She knew, behind that cold attitude, there was someone who was struggling with the shadows of the past.
"Then, let's prepare everything well," Naya replied, her smile still warm. "I will make sure everything is ready in the operating room."
Arkan just nodded again, but this time, he let his gaze linger a little longer on Naya. There was something about Naya that made him feel a little lighter, though he didn't know what it was. Maybe it was her warmth, or maybe it was her sincerity. Who knows.
In the operating room, the team was ready with complete equipment. Naya stood by Arkan's side, ready to help with anything needed. This operation was a very complex procedure-heart surgery for a patient with a congenital abnormality. Arkan had performed this procedure many times, but each time there was always a new challenge to face.
"Naya, we will start with an incision on the sternum," Arkan said calmly, although the tension was still in the air.
"Ready, Doctor," Naya answered quickly, her hands ready to hold the necessary tools.
The operation went smoothly at first. Every instruction from Arkan was carried out quickly and precisely by his team, including Naya. However, in the middle of the procedure, the monitor suddenly showed a drastic drop in the patient's blood pressure.
"Blood pressure is dropping!" the nurse next to Naya exclaimed, panicking.
Arkan immediately took over, searching for the source of the problem with remarkable calm. "We need to stabilize the patient immediately. Naya, give adrenaline," he ordered.
Naya moved quickly, giving an adrenaline injection according to Arkan's instructions. However, the situation was getting worse. Arkan quickly took the necessary actions to save the patient, but time seemed to be passing very slowly.
In that critical condition, Naya remained focused. She did not show any signs of panic, even though this was the first time she had faced such a critical situation. Arkan realized this, and in his heart he felt a little relieved to have a reliable partner like Naya.
Finally, after what felt like hours, the patient's condition began to stabilize. The medical team in the operating room could breathe a sigh of relief. Arkan nodded slightly, signaling that the operation could continue.
"Nice job," muttered Arkan in a low voice, but enough for Naya to hear.
Naya looked at him, surprised by the compliment. A small smile appeared on her face, but she quickly returned her focus to her task. Praise from Arkan was a rare thing, and Naya was happy to receive it.
After the surgery was over and the patient was taken to the recovery room, Arkan and Naya came out of the operating room feeling relieved. Although tired, they both knew that the surgery was one of the most stressful they had ever faced.
"Thank you for your help, Dr. Naya," Arkan said suddenly as they walked down the hall toward the break room. His voice sounded warmer than usual, though there was still a lingering formality.
Naya turned around, somewhat surprised. "No thanks, Dr. Arkan. That's my job. And... thanks for the guidance."
Arkan just nodded slightly, not wanting to prolong the conversation. However, in his heart, he knew that Naya had shown something more than just professionalism. There was sincerity and courage in her that was hard to ignore.
After they parted in the hallway, Arkan walked to his own room. In the quiet room, he sat down and closed his eyes for a moment, trying to reflect on his feelings. The wall he had built up all this time seemed to be cracking little by little, and it made him feel confused.
He shouldn't let his feelings grow any further. He didn't want to be trapped in the same feelings as before, when he had opened his heart and ended up getting hurt. But with Naya, everything felt different.
And that's the problem. Naya makes everything feel different.
Naya sat in the break room, enjoying a cup of hot tea after the stressful surgery. Her mind wandered to the little moments in the operating room earlier-how Arkan led with incredible calm, how he remained steadfast despite the critical situation.
"Dr. Arkan is indeed amazing," he muttered to himself. "But... he is also very difficult to approach."
Naya knew that Arkan was not an easy person to talk to outside of work. But she also knew that behind his cold demeanor, there was someone full of feelings. And for some reason, Naya felt interested in getting to know him better.
She knew the risks. Arkan was a complicated figure, and approaching him could mean opening old wounds that might not have healed yet. But Naya was someone who did not give up easily. For her, every challenge was an opportunity to grow and learn.
"One thing is for sure," Naya thought as she sipped her tea, "I won't give up on getting to know him better."
And with that determination, Naya knows that their journey has only just begun. A journey that may be full of challenges, but also full of unexpected possibilities.
The hospital felt brighter than usual this morning, with the morning sun shining through the busy hallways. In the operating room, Dr. Arkan and Dr. Naya were preparing for another heart surgery scheduled for today. Even though they had just finished a critical case a few days ago, both of them had shown impressive skill and professionalism.
Naya stood beside Arkan in the prep room, checking the surgical instruments and making sure everything was in good condition. "Everything is ready, Doctor," she said with an enthusiastic smile.
Arkan looked at him for a moment, then nodded. "Okay, let's get started."
As they entered the operating room, the atmosphere turned serious. Arkan took over with confidence, while Naya deftly followed instructions and handled the tasks given. They worked in almost perfect synchronization, as if they had been working together for years.
Deep Operations and Connection Sessions
During the operation, Naya felt a change in their relationship. Arkan seemed more open than before, giving small compliments when Naya did something well. When Naya complained about how tiring the work was, Arkan even entertained her with a little joke that made her smile.
"Don't worry, Naya," Arkan said with a faint smile. "If we can handle this operation, we can handle anything."
Naya chuckled, feeling the tension ease a little. "I hope it's not a jinx, Doctor."
Even though their interaction was brief, Naya felt that there was something different in Arkan's attitude. He was more open and friendly than usual, and that made Naya feel closer to this usually cold doctor.
Unexpected Event
After the surgery, Naya and Arkan returned to the break room to rest for a while. Naya decided to invite Arkan to lunch at the hospital cafeteria. "Want to join me for lunch, Dr. Arkan?" she asked hopefully.
Arkan was hesitant at first, but eventually nodded. "Okay, let's go."
In the cafeteria, the atmosphere was relaxed and full of small talk. They sat at a table near the window, and Arkan seemed more relaxed than usual. Naya decided to talk more about herself, hoping to get Arkan to open up more.
"So, Dr. Arkan, what got you interested in surgery?" he asked as he cut his salad.
Arkan looked at him for a moment, then replied, "I've always been attracted to challenges. Surgery is about saving lives, and every case is a puzzle to be solved."
Naya nodded, listening intently. "That's very inspiring. I feel that way too-always wanting to help people and make a difference."
Suddenly, an old patient that Arkan knew approached their table. "Dr. Arkan, hello!" the patient greeted enthusiastically.
Arkan greeted the patient kindly, but Naya could feel the tension between them. After a few minutes of chatting, the patient left, and Arkan seemed to be back to his usual mood.
"Who is he?" Naya asked, trying to make conversation.
Arkan sighed. "An old patient. He's recovering from a major surgery. I often feel guilty when a patient hasn't fully recovered."
Naya looked at Arkan with sympathy. "I didn't know you felt that way. But you've done a great job."
Arkan smiled slightly, feeling touched by Naya's support. "Thank you, Naya. It means a lot to me."
A Night Full of Tension
That night, the hospital seemed quieter. However, in the break room, the atmosphere between Arkan and Naya was still warm from their previous conversation. They sat together, discussing the cases they had handled and sharing experiences.
"Sometimes, I feel like it's all just a job," Naya says thoughtfully. "But then, there are moments like this when we save lives, and it all feels so meaningful."
Arkan looked at Naya with a gentle gaze. "You're right. Those moments make everything more precious."
Naya looked at Arkan, feeling a growing closeness. "Dr. Arkan, I know you may not be comfortable with personal conversations, but I really want to get to know you better."
Arkan was silent for a moment, then nodded slowly. "I appreciate your honesty, Naya. I don't open up often, but you've made me feel comfortable."
New Conflict
Suddenly, the door to the break room opened and Dr. Rina, a senior doctor, came in with an anxious expression. "Dr. Arkan, we need your help in the emergency room now. There is a patient in critical condition who needs to be treated immediately."
Arkan stood up quickly and followed Dr. Rina, leaving Naya in the break room. Naya felt a little disappointed that their precious moment had to be interrupted. She decided to follow them, wanting to make sure Arkan was okay.
In the emergency room, Naya assists Arkan quickly and efficiently. The patient is having a massive heart attack, and Arkan works quickly to stabilize his condition. Naya stands beside him, providing much-needed support.
When the surgery was over and the patient was in stable condition, Arkan sat outside the emergency room, looking tired and depressed. Naya approached him cautiously.
"Are you okay, Dr. Arkan?" Naya asked with concern.
Arkan took a deep breath, looking exhausted. "Yes, I'm fine. Thank you for helping."
Naya sat down beside him, trying to provide some comfort. "We all know how hard this job is. But you always do it well."
Arkan looked at her with a grateful gaze. "Thank you, Naya. Your presence means a lot to me."
Closing Chapter
At night, Naya returns home, filled with mixed feelings. She knows that something is growing between her and Arkan, but she also realizes that Arkan still has a lot of emotional walls to overcome.
Meanwhile, Arkan returns to his apartment, feeling depressed and confused. He feels something new inside him-a feeling he has long tried to avoid. The walls he has built up seem to be crumbling, and he doesn't know how to deal with it.
Naya stared at the night sky from her apartment window, hoping to find answers to all the questions that came to her mind. Arkan was someone who meant a lot to her, and she was determined not to give up so easily.
With strong determination, Naya promises herself to keep fighting and help Arkan overcome his past, no matter how difficult the journey is. Meanwhile, Arkan must face the fact that his feelings for Naya may be deeper than he thought.
And here a new chapter begins-a chapter filled with challenges, growth, and unexpected possibilities.
