That faithful night, when he made the decision and all his arrangements for her, he never really thought of himself. All he thought was her safety. But as he stood there on the deck of the ship staring at the dark and vast sea, all by himself, he finally felt the emotions running in his veins. He finally thought of himself. He realized how hard it is.
This is bad. Its so hard, baby I miss you so much already.
He took a deep breath and imagined her presence in front of him. Him holding her hands.
Please, wait for me. I'll come and take you back.
And Noah clenched his empty hands tightly.
Yet he was awoken by the rash footsteps approaching. He woke up from his daze and quickly turned back. Gian was also alarmed and greeted the men hurrying towards them.
"What's the matter?" He hurriedly asked.
"The yacht with the market materials is under attack!" The men reported.
"What?!" Gian exclaimed as he turned to look at Noah.
Noah did not think twice and immediately went down the yacht to go to the pier. He called for his men to be alert and they made their way to the second yacht.
"They knew that only half of our men is here," Noah said to Gian as they made their way to the pier.
"Fuck it!" Gian cursed. When they arrived in the pier, the men stationed there informed them that they were covered and it will only be a minute before they will infiltrate the second yacht. They were just about to start coming up a plan when gunshots were fired their way. They quickly took out their guns and found a place for cover. Gunshots were exchange in the broad pier.
"Shit Noah, we're surrounded!" Gian frustratingly exclaimed as he exchanged bullets together with their men.
Noah held his gun and was firing as he took in their situation and coming up with a solution. When suddenly, Noah was hit but he dodged in time that it only got his shoulders. He cursed under his breath as he heard Gian calling out. Their men quickly covered them and Gian pulled him behind the tanks for cover.
"We need to go! We're outnumbered! Shit, the materials! If we only had our men-" Gian could hardly finish his sentence as the ambush continued. Noah sat there while leaning in the tanks, holding his bleeding shoulder.
Giving up the materials means a much harder comeback and planning for the future. Both men knew it, but they had different thoughts. Gian was greatly regretful of not having half of their men here.
While Noah, staring at the vast starry sky had only one thought.
I'm sorry baby, I guess we won't be meeting anytime soon.
Inside a luxurious and spacious room, with exquisite furnitures and antiques, and a king size bed. And in the middle of that bed, Sophia was in a deep slumber. She was under the comfortable blankets with an eye mask covering her eyes. The young woman was very fair with her dark hair scattered all over the pillow. Even in her sleep, she has this beautiful pink glow coloring her cheeks and her small luscious lips was tinted like cherry. The woman was the very picture of a pampered wife that was fiercely loved.
In the middle of her slumber, a tall and imposing man walked in. He was still in his crisp dark suit and had this aura of a nobility and wise young man. Noah laid his eyes on the woman sleeping in the bed, safe and sound. A sense of gentleness and comfort drifted in his heart. He liked seeing his little wife safe and comfortable in his home. She was his precious treasure that should be pampered carefully. And there was another thing he always wants to see. He walked to the bed with a paper bag held in his hands.
As he approached the bed, he sat down at the edge and bent down to whisper softly to the woman's ears,
"Baby, time to wake up," he whispered gently.
The woman whimpered softly and slowly lifted the eye patch covering her eyes. She dazedly opened those dark clear eyes, that seems to have moist and ripples in them. She looked up at the man covering her view.
"Hubby? You're back.." she whispered sleepily.
As the man looked at those dark beautiful eyes that looked up at him, he felt that little tickle in his heart again, which he always felt whenever his wife laid her eyes on him.
He hummed in response before saying, "I have a surprise for you," then smiling gently he raised the big paper bag in his hand.
Sophia dazedly drifted her eyes on the paper bag . When she saw that it was her favorite brand of hand bag, she immediately sat up on the bed.
"A gift for me?!" she expectantly looked at her husband. Noah just smiled and said, "Go open it," and handed it to her.
Sophia excitedly opened the paper bag and took out a cute baby pink handbag that was new to the market.
"Its that limited edition bag from my favorite store! Thank you hubby, you're the best!" Sophia quickly threw herself at her husband and hug his neck and kissed his cheeks a few times.
Who doesn't want to receive this hugs and kisses from this beautiful girl. This is the reason Noah likes to pamper his wife. Such rewards, he'll take it. His eyes slightly darkened and grabbed his little wife's chin and kissed her little mouth. Sophia was pushed back to the bed and Noah towered over her.
"How about you give me something good too?" Noah whispered gently in her ears.
It was 12 o'clock at noon when Noah just finished checking up on Sophia and her lunch. He sat in his spacious office facing the floor to wall glass ceiling and looking at the busy view of the city. He turned back his swivel chair to face his broad table full of documents. He started flipping through them again.
Suddenly, a woman wearing a corporate attire walked in without invitation. She looked mature and serious, but the anticipation in her eyes cannot be hidden as she laid her eyes on the man behind the table.
"Burying in work again?" She asked playfully at Noah like they were familiar.
"Good afternoon too, Ms. Cole," he answered indifferently. He was always like this. Rachel Cole and him were in the same circle of elites. The Coles are also one of influential family in the country. The Ricci were a powerful family, and people, even the elites looked up to them. Especially now to the new leader of the family, Noah Ricci. He was already a prodigy since he was young. He entered the industry like a typhoon, and became one of the youngest business tycoon in the country.
Both she and him were ambitious and business minded. They entered the same school and always encountered each other in business events and parties. Rachel always had her eyes on him from the start. She always thought they were perfect for each other, but this gentleman remained indifferent. And as a woman born in a sophisticated and conservative family, she can only look at him from afar and wait for him to make a move. But what happened was otherwise.
"You're busying here while your little wife sat idly at home," she said mockingly. She knew perfectly he was married, yet she does not know what's with that little brat that this man cannot let go of her.
"What can I help you, Ms. Cole? But I do hope its business related," Noah brushed off the woman's mocking. He looked up at her and watched her seriously. Gazing at the handsome man, Rachel cannot help thinking how unfair for this man to end up with that brat, so she bantered,
"That little miss, she'll suck every once of honor in you. I bet she only cared of what you can offer. Wake up already, Noah. The deal with you and the Donsons was long sealed. You don't need suck up with that brat anymore." Rachel finally said the words that long stuck on her mind. Seeing how the man never changed his expression, she continued,
"That useless girl, all she cares about are her whims. Listen-" yet she was interrupted by a sudden slam on the table. Noah finally lost his patience.
"I care for my company and your family's partnership. But I will never tolerate disrespect to my wife. Serve this as a warning. You may now leave," he ordered coldly. His words was obviously a cut off and Rachel lost any chance to retort.
