As Maria walked up the stairs, the sound of her heels distracted Danielle from his work, his love for her knew no bounds, he even knew the sound of her feet, he waited eagerly for the door to be opened.

"Did you miss me?." Maria was Danielle's high school sweetheart, he refused to let go of her, despite there complicated family relationships,he walked up to her his desire burning, but as a business man duty calls.

"Of course love, but I am quite busy right now, here take the keys and wait for me."

Maria, walked closer to him teasing him with her hair.

"You dared to give me your keys, what if I make you homeless."

She stained his white shirt with her lip stick, before working away, he heaved a sigh of relief and was glad she was gone, this deal was extremely important.

He looked at his disorganized desk so many files, with one on the other, how was he supposed to find this file now, why were all his files blue in colour.This deal could make or break his company's future.

Mean while, Maria's Father worked hard to secure the deal himself.

"In order to succeed, you must be ready to fight with the wind, never underestimate the enemy."

Maria's Father, a business man, always stole clients from Danielle, leaving him panting in helplessness and frustration, but this time Danielle was vastly prepared, he was bored and tired, he remembered he had someone dear waiting for him, he smiled and rushed home.As Danielle hastened to be with his beloved, he forgot to check if he locked his doors properly. Desmond excitedly took advantage of the situation, he stole all the files his hands could carry, and then came back for he reported his success to his boss.

"All done sir."

Maria's Father smiled.

"Good, he will regret underestimating me, his love for my daughter will be his downfall."Desmond walked stealthily as a ghost, his eyes making sure he was not followed, but his fears caught up with him.

"You!, what are you doing ?."

The security guard asked, dropping his hamburger on his desk, he marched forward like an aggressive soldier.

"Are you deaf?, what are you doing?."The sound of the guards boot, made Desmond tremble, Maria's Father would do something drastic to him, if he did not get to him on time, he had no but to run.

He ran out of the building and into the streets, throwing the files on the officer slowing him down, he jumped into his car and drove off, narrowly missing an old woman in a wheel chair. The guard stood and picked each file, he kept them in his office for safety.

Desmond was welcomed with a slap from his master.

"You incompetent fool!, bring the file here, that was my order!, how will we defeat him now?."

Maria's father's hands held his waste tightly, his anger rising, no matter how many times his goons kicked Desmond, it only infuriated him the more.. " Leave it, stop hitting him, we have better things to worry about, how we secure this contract, is your duty." He said pointing at Desmond, the goons kicked him and he fell on the floor, the blood on his mouth and palms, his hands held his belly, as he leaped to his car, heading for the hospital. "My duty indeed, I will become Danielle's Ally, I am sure he will not treat me like a dog!."Meanwhile as Maria laid lazily on Danielle's bed, she stretched her hands trying to grab her buzzing phone, but her hands were caught midway.

"You can take that call later, let this moment be ours."

But Maria was worried, it was getting late, and if she stayed any longer, her father might come to take her by himself.

"I don't give a damn about your father, I will protect you, just spend the night with me ."

No matter how tempting his offer Maria refused, she left, running while putting on her clothes.Maria arrived. Her breath caught up in her throat, she moved swiftly to her room, but was taken a gap when she saw her father sitted on her bed.

"I've being waiting for you all day, you know you are my only child, yet you leave father alone, what will I do in your absence, i won't ask you were you have being today, but I will next time, not with words but in action."Danielle still on his bed, his thoughts filled with Maria's actions, if only she was someone else's child, they would have being together already, this secrecy in there relationship troubled him, he wanted to be able to publicly show her his affection, it then dawned on him, that he had not still reviewed the file Desmond.He decided to return to the office and look for it, as soon as he arrives the guard updated him about what had happened earlier, he snatched the files from the guard, and eagerly searched for the file, but could not find it, he decided to create something new for the meeting the next day, he went home feeling disappointed.

He reflected on his father's words, "Listen to me son, Maria's Father, Gabrielle, is a cunning man, he will use his daughter against you one day, I am worried that our company will not survive under your leadership."Danielle sat, his black sofa compressing, his hand placed on his chin, he should not get personal matters interfere with business, he needs to get back to work, he turned on his computer.Maria's Father hugged her,his memories taking him back to when he first met her mother, they were deeply in love, but there love turned sour, when she left him to be with Danielle's father, he needed to keep them away from each other, but they should never find out that they are step siblings.

Danielle, went to the office his heart panting, this deal could make or break his career. He went to the dispenser, as he placed his hands on it, something caught his attention.

. Desmond knelt, his hands fidgeting, his head bowed, Danielle remembered what the guard said about the missing and poured water over him in anger.

"You can splash water on me as many times as you feel is right, I deserve it, I came to ask for your forgiveness."

Danielle laughed at loud cradling his abdomen, "Really?, and why should I accept your apology, you think you can get away with theft, I will make you rot in jail."

Desmond fell on his face, "Please spare me, I have no where else to go, it was my Master, Gabrielle, who made me do this."

Danielle's eyes filled with rage, he looked at Desmond, an idea coming to his mind.

"Will you work for me?."

Desmond nodded vigorously. Danielle smiled and dismissed him, while he got ready for the meeting. Gabrielle, arrived with his team, and the two men locked eyes on one another. Maria stepped walking closely behind her father, his goons keeping watch on her every step.

The clients came in and everyone sat in there place. "After careful consideration, we have decided to give this contract to Mr Gabrielle.". Danielle stood up almost immediately, "You did not even listen to our proposal."

Gabrielle winked at Desmond and he nodded, he took Maria with him. Maria, looked at Danielle, she ran towards him, and hugged him, ok the presence of her father.

"How dare you?."

He raised his hand to hit her, but she held his hand. His eyes widened in shock. She let go of his hand, but it still froze high up in the air.

"What is wrong dad?, why is your face pale, are you not supposed to be happy, you just won a contract, congratulations."

Gabrielle slapped Maria when she least expected it. "I am your father, and you have just embarrassed me and ruined my reputation by supporting this fool, a useless son that can not keep his father's legacy alive should have rather being born as a woman."

Maria's face squeezed, her facial expression reflected extreme disappointment. Desmond smiled, he was glad whenever these two were engaged in a verbal war.

"My father has a legacy, but what did your father leave behind, these goons?." Danielle's words stabbed his heart, he pounces forward, his hand on Danielles throat.

Maria held her father by his father and pushed him. She held Danielle's arm, and they hurriedly left.

"I never knew you could do that, you really went against your father, why?."

Gabrielle smiled the trap he set for Danielle was in motion, very soon he will find out all his secrets.

Gabrielle winked at Desmond, who waited patiently for him outside.

"Have you apologized to him.". Desmond nodded trying to act submissive , Gabrielle smiled, "Good, i want you to be as crafty as i would, and your daughter will be perfectly fine."

The guilt in Desmond's heart took sleep away from his eyes. He really wanted to change, but how could he when Gabrielle held his daughter hostage, he would have to put an end to Gabrielle's reign. He needed to outsmart Gabrielle.

Maria sat in Danielle's living room, her both hands on her chin, she loved her father so much, but if she were to choose, she would Danielle, she wanted a different from the one her mother lived, one where she felt loved, and respected, not controlled and used. Danielle saw her facial expression and instantly read her thoughts.

"What's wrong, are you regretting your actions?.". Danielle placed his hand on her back.

"My mother died when I was very young, my dad took care of me all on his own, and today I betrayed him."

Danielle felt something pinch his heart, he hated seeing her sad, and he would do anything to brighten up her day.

"Should I take you home then, I will gladly surrender both cheeks to be bruised in order to restore your father's pride.". Maria smiled.

"Really?, you think I will let you do something like that, no matter how much my father loves me i will always choose you."

Danielle was happy, her smile brought joy to him, it was worth, more than a thousand rubies.

Meanwhile, Gabrielle reflected on Maria's actions.

"I gave her too much freedom, and now she humiliated me, my own blood!, i will not harm her but i will break her heart by exposing Danielles secret, she will no choice but to obey me!."

Desmond sat in his silent apartment, he could still hear the echoes of his daughters laughter. He wished he could apologize for being absent, he was more focused on pleasing Gabrielle, than looking after his family.

Tears flowed uncontrollably, he clenched his fists in anger, suddenly a thought hit him, he remembered he installed a camera in his daughter, if only she still wore the silver butterfly chain he installed it in, but how would he see her, he had no cameras, he needed to ask Danielle for help.

Danielle and Maria's romantic moment was interrupted by a knock on the door.

"Desmond?.". They said in unison.

Danielle quickly put on his shirt, and asked him to see him outside.

"What happened, I am sure something is terribly wrong!."

Desmond replied. stuttering.

"My daughter, has being kidnapped, by Gabrielle, and he wants to use that to make me his dog again."

Danielle felt his pain, and held his hand.

"I promise, you, I will help you find your daughter."

Desmond thanked him and left. Danielle had always questioned his love for Maria, why does he love her so much, even when loving her could lead to his death.

But he had no answers.

Maria laid on the bed, her mind restless, she could not stop thinking about her father, she longed for her home. It was a strange feeling.

Kyle, Gabrielle's right hand man came to his side.

"Whats wrong sir?, if you miss your daughter I could always bring her back forcefully."

Gabrielle laughed. "She will be back, but when she does come home, I will make sure she is never able to walk again."

While Maria slept, Danielle sat up and recalled all that has happened in the past year, the war between there father's led to Maria's mother's death, Danielle had shot her purposefully, successfully, he never thought he would fall in love with her daughter, his love for her was unplanned, unmatched, what if her father decides to tell her?, he was not even sure if her knew the truth, if he did he would not be so silent.

Danielle cried in his heart, he was extremely scared of what the future held.

"What are you thinking about?.". Maria asked him, wiping her eyes with her palm.

"Nothing dear, go back to sleep." He said and kissed her forehead lightly.

The next morning, Danielle hastened to the office to see his new staff, and ally Desmond. "How are you doing?."

Desmond shook his head, the black bags under his showed he could not sleep.

"We will find her, I promise." They went to the security room, and took a look, they traced and found her, but could not detect her location.

"She is the one!, that's my daughter." He said excitedly.

His daughter was tied up, her mouth taped, she wriggled her hand trying to set herself free from the ropes, but all her efforts proved abortive.

Gabrielle stood before her, caressing her with his gun, Desmond hit his hand on the table.

"Calm down!, anger won't solve this, we need to figure out a plan, a way to know where they are."

"My daughter is so young, she is 17, what will my girlfriend think of me, an incompetent father, not able to protect his child."

Danielle, observed the environment that was vividly displayed on his screen. He saw something familiar.

"I think I know where they are."

He got and ran out of the security room, leaving his suit behind, Desmond chased after him, together they jumped into Desmond's car.

"Don't you think we should call the police." Desmond suggested.

"Oh we will,we just need to get there first."

Gabrielle taunted Desmond's daughter.

"The daughter of a dog, your father is nothing, and you are also nothing!.". Desmond's daughter, spat on his face, Gabrielle, hit her head with his gun causing her to bleed and curse him.

"You will rot in prison."

Gabrielle mocked her entire family, he told her the history of her birth.

"Your mother was my mistress, who knows you might be my daughter, but I have no interest in you, else, you would have undergone a Dna Test."

She cried.

"You are a liar, that's all you do, you lie, cheat, and steal, you can never be my father."

Gabrielle sniffed her hair, his lips going closer to her ear.

"And what if I wasnt?, what if Desmond is your father, of what use is he to you."

Desmonds daughter cried, Gabrielle tortured her emotions, he refused to back down.

"You know, if you were my daughter, you would not have to suffer, I mean look at Maria, she has everything she wants and more, perhaps we should take the test, right now."

Desmonds panic was well written on his face, but Danielle's stance was confident, they drove and arrived at Danielle's suspected location.

"This place is too quiet."

Danielle nodded.

Meanwhile, Maria felt worried about Danielle, he did not give her his usual morning kiss, she pretended to be asleep, for a long time before opening her eyes to see that he was long gone, she decided to go his office, his seat was empty, and his desk this disorganized, everything looked as it should, she went down stairs and asked his guard.

"I am looking for Master Danielle.".

The officer gave her a questioning look.

"I know who you are, you don't need to pretend in front of me by calling him your master, i fear that his obsession towards you will wreck this company, but with regards to your question, he left in a hurry with Desmond, I dont know why he keeps company with rotten fruits."

Maria felt her heart skip a beat, Desmond was one of her father's dogs, as he would often refer to them.

As soon as she heard Desmond's name, she knew her father had done something, she hastened back to Danielle's office and sat on his chair, hugging the suit he left behind. She decided to organize his messy desk, one glimpse on the camera screen, and she saw her father carrying Desmond's daughter on his shoulder, could this be where Danielle is, if so, he is walking into a trap.

She called him but his phone was switched off, she became more worried, she knew this building too well, no one goes in and comes out without being bruised, or losing a part of there body. She ran, forgetting to stop a cab, she ran bare foot, leaving her shoes in his office, a nail pierced through her bare feet, causing her to fall, she fell, but got back up, limping.

A taxi driver saw her and stopped, he blew his horn repeatedly, trying to get her attention.

"Miss, where are you going, hop in and I'll take you there for free."

She smiled and limped into the cab, she got to the building, once she got down from the cab, someone's hand pulled her into her dark corner, his hand covered her mouth to stop her from screaming. It was Danielle.

"How did you find us?." He asked.

"I went to clean up your messy office when I saw everything, don't go in there, if you do, you will not make it."

Danielle hugged her tightly, Desmond rolled his eyes.

"This is not the time for this both of you, we need to find my daughter, Sophie, goodness knows, she must have cursed me a million times."

Maria looked up and saw where her father's goons were laying in ambush.

"You see what I mean?, he is always two steps ahead of you, he is a criminal, look over there."

Danielle turned and saw what Maria spoke about, the black mark of there faces, there sharp knives, there eyes focused on the entrance, as though they were expecting a prey.

It seemed the safest place to be was where they hid at the moment, a single step could attract unwanted attention.
