"You're a fraud and a lair. We cannot be under the same roof." The blond man stood out with his athletic body, his perfect muscles visible even under his shirt. He glared at her with contempt, as if she had committed a murder in front of him.
"What are you talking about? I didn't expect you to lose trust in me like this. Where did our deep love go, Noah?" A girl with short red hair and black tips said.
The silver earrings she wore swayed whenever she tried to grab his arm. While he turned his head every time she stood before him.
She felt the passers-by gazes on her. They started whispering and pointing their fingers in sympathy at her.
The atmosphere was tense , making it difficult for her to breathe despite her efforts to hold on and avoid collapse. Noah was the love of her life. Eight years of deep love sharing the sweet and bitter togather without complaint. And now, he would simply leave her? Breaking her heart with every single word he said.
"It's all over, Melody. We can't continue togather," he growled sadly, after pushing her to the ground next to his feetfoot. She was shocked as soon as she reached the ground. She didn't expect him to humiliate and push her like this.
Even though her eyes was burning, she refused to let her tears flow for someone who did not appreciate or respect her. Someone simply abandoned her.
She felt as if her heartbeat was in her head instead of her heart . However, She got up calmly, shook off her red dress, embroidered with unique perfection, and ignored the whispers around her.
With eyes full of questions, she asked, 'Why, Noah? Why now? I'll not allow you to insult me anymore. My love for you does not mean that you can insult me."
Despite her warning tone, Noah rolled his eyes in disdain, not paying any attention to her.
Suddenly, he approached her and grabbed her shoulders tightly.
She was only inches away from his face, which was filled with both consolation and the desire to destroy her. This was the first time she had seen Noah act like thatthis.
"Are you really asking why, Melody? Damn it." He hissed through his gritted teeth before throwing her again with excessive force, tearing her only dress suitable for going out on a date with him..
While her mind struggled to analyze what Noah was saying on one hand, and the state she had reached on the other, she tried to cover the bare part of her shoulder.
'What should I do? Oh God!! My only dress,... people are watching me,' she whispered to herself feeling humiliation. She couldn't believe that Noah had done this to her.
"When were you planning on informing me that you're now with someone else? When were you going to bother telling me that you are married?" He exclaimed in a load voice that attracted more public attention to her.
Her eyes turned red, her veins popped, knowing that he had discovered everything.
"Noah, Noah, dear, Listen to me. I will explain everything about this matter." She stuttered as she tried to stand up to catch up with his fast steps. She was bumping into passers-by, leaving behind a bouquet of red flowers lying on the ground.
The scene of Noah throwing away the ring that took her two years to collect the money to buy, was repeated in her mind. She wanted to propose him, but she did not expect that he would reject her in such a tragic way."
The sounds of the water hitting the side of the bridge were mixed with the whisperings of the people around her. Their contemptuous looks penetrated her mind. Even the breeze made her suffocate when she saw the view of the sunset enjoyed by those standing there on the bridge, reminding her of when her love story with him began, and its end today.
"Noah, listen to me, please. This didn't happen by my will. Noah, believe me, that marriage was just a deal," Melody screamed until she felt her vocal cords being cut off, watching from afar Noah's car as he drove away, without even looking back at her for the last time. She cried until she could no longer feel her breath.
Her body hit the ground after her feet betrayed her, making the situation even worse. No one offered her a helping hand, and no one felt the extent of the pain she was experiencing.
With her trembling hands, she tried to call him. 'He's already blocked me!' she whispered in her mind in disbelief.
A call came from her grandfather, but she ignored it. For a moment, she expected that it was Noah who called. Feeling disappointed she smashed her phone on the ground to simulate the wreckage of her broken heart, feeling the pain every passing second. With difficulty, she dragged her feet walking towards nowhere.
'Damn it,'She hissed. 'What about the dreams we made together? What about everything we planned? The children, the house, the garage, the garden – everything was destroyed and gone to hell; only ashes remained.' Her mind was buzzing with these words as she walked without a specific destination.
A bar down the street caught her attention. She didn't care if she was going to spend the last of her upgrade money. In any case, she had planned to spend it by taking Noah to one of the upscale restaurants. But she didn't care anymore; Noah was gone forever.
The marble walls, the sounds of loud music, and the smell of cigarettes mixed with the scents of perfumes worth thousands of dollars; even if she worked for the rest of her life, she would not be able to buy one like it.
The people there looked at her with a kind of disgust because of her miserable appearance. She ignored their hurtful comments and he started drinking.
She felt the wine burning her throat. The ecstasy she had from just two bottles was enough to make her mind float, but she needed more to forget what happened.
'All these misfortunes and the destruction of my life because of that damned marriage contract,' she muttered under her breath, then led herself out of the bar, looking like a piece of furniture distorting a perfect painting by a professional decorator.
'That evil man, I hate him,'
There was no other place for her to return to other than her home. This wasis where the root of her problem began two years ago. She noticed the latest model of a limousine; it looked like Noah's own.
A sparkle of hope filled her eyes., and Tthe beating of her heart increased abnormally, making her sign the key twice. She even forgot to close the door behind her.
Room by to room, she searched for him. The only ones who had a copy of her house keys were her grandfather, who had traveled this morning to visit her sick uncle, and her ex-boyfriend, Noah.
A quantity of beautifully wrapped boxes on the table in the reception room and lotus flowers on the sofa caught her attention, which were not there when she left the house.
In her room, she felt the presence of someone. He was turning off the lamp and then turning it on again continuously. She stood in front of the door in confusion. But she threw all her thoughts and what had happened hours ago into oblivion, ready to ignore what Noah said and did in order to continue that dream with him and make it a reality.
As soon as she entered the room, the light turned off, and without thinking, she threw herself into his arms, hugging him tightly. "'I knew that you would not leave me. I... I was sure that you would come back",' she stammered, her tears did not allow her to speak normally. Then she felt him hug her back.
She added within her load sops, "I have told you before how much I love you. I will do anything to get rid of that marriage. I hadn't even seen his face before. I signed the contract so..." Her voice disappeared immediately when she felt his hand leave her waist and placed his thumb on her lips, touching it roughly.
His anger was obvious as his raging breath violently hit her face. She believed it might be her last chance to make him stay with her. Despite the darkness obscuring her vision, her lips found their way to his, kissing him with intense feelings and silencing him before he could utter a word.
He didn't reject her kiss though.; Iinstead, he surrendered, pulling her to sit on his lap. While pressing his fingers against her delicate skin, he carried her to the bed. He placed her on the bed without separating from her and said, "Don't regret this in the morning, "
In the light of the golden sunbeams, her hazel eyes opened. The sheet beneath her hand was still warm. Surely what had transpired between them was not a fleeting dream. She sighed in embarrassment as the phantoms of last night haunted her, and adrenaline surged through her mixed with a terror born of his absence beside her.
Her body-marked unmistakably by the evidence of his overbearing claim on her-was wrapped in the towel hanging at the side of the bed. The room was in utter chaos; she could barely find space for her fingers as she made her way toward the bathroom.
"Thank God-I thought he'd fled after getting what he'd been pining for all these years. His scent is still clinging to my body," she whispered in a hoarse tone. Her eyes widened in shock when he emerged wearing nothing but his trousers, revealing those powerful muscles.
His ashen, piercing eyes bore the wrath of the entire world, and his wet black hair fell across his forehead. The moment she saw him, a numbing chill crept into her very marrow, while he wore a disdainful smile-as if daring her to utter even a single letter he disliked, promising to end her life.
She felt as if the earth were spinning beneath her; her legs no longer supported her. With trembling steps, she wrapped the sheet tightly around her and demanded, "What are you doing here? Who are you? Where is Nawah?" Her voice wavered as memories of last night flooded back, her mind oscillating between reality and illusion, desperately trying to convince her that this man was not Nawah-the one she had been with.
Every cell in her brain struggled to absorb the scene before her. Clutching her head as a pounding headache set in, her racing heart testified to her fear.
And then, finally, she remembered him. She had seen his picture before-no, she had even married him-and then he vanished without a trace. This man, though she knew little about him, shook the very foundations of her self-confidence, making her hesitate for the millionth time before speaking. Wasn't he the one who had ruined her life from the start after that deal with her grandfather?
"Don't look at me with those eyes, as if you're the innocent one and I'm the villain. I never expected you to be so despicable, Melody," the words spilled from his mouth like lethal poison, gnawing at the wounds in her heart.
A marriage forced upon her, the love of her life having abandoned her, her mind in a state of numb stagnation-and to make matters worse, she had spent her first night with this man she despised. And worst of all, the sudden shame of realizing that, last night, she had actually enjoyed it.
He advanced toward her as he carelessly dried his hair. "There was an agreement between us my dear from the very beginning, do you remember? When you act rashly, you bear the responsibility-not just you, " He said.
"But your grandfather's companies will suffer the losses," he added slowly his gazes were hunting her shaking body, as if last night wasn't enough.
At his threat, anger and disgust flared across her pale face, and she quickly recoiled, her breath coming in ragged bursts. She whispered to herself, "What happened to the divorce papers I sent him?"
His look alone made any answer unnecessary. He donned his shirt, and the signs of satisfaction he was eager to display indicated that he'd gotten exactly what he wanted. In fact, the anger he had so meticulously concealed behind that blank, emotionless face had deceived her completely.
"What are you talking about?" she asked, dreading the answer.
A crooked smile played on his lips as he replied, "Surely you remember everything, don't you?" Receiving no response, he continued, "Or shall I ask you who Noah is to refresh your memory?" He ended his words with a dark glare, as if punishing her for daring to mention Nawah's name.
Arming herself with her last reserves of strength, she snapped, "Stop, you! Our marriage was meaningless from the start-it was nothing more than a transaction. Don't forget, it was you who said that back then!" She finished with a fierce glare that attacked him.
Despite the truth she hurled in his face, Jifil dismissed it as mere drivel. "I won't waste my time answering a woman like you-a girl who dares to love someone other than her husband. What shall we call her?" His tone was deliberately insulting, and in his mind, this very fact infuriated him so much that he longed to eliminate every man bearing the name Noah.
Her hands clenched in anger as she retorted, "I didn't betray you; he loved me unconditionally-until he discovered my miserable marriage to you..."
His mocking laughter cut her off. "Let me guess-you left him, just as I predicted. That's exactly what a girl like you deserves."
"How dare you insult me! My love for Noah was free of any physical contact... You..." She swallowed her words as he advanced, his eyes dark and impenetrable. "I know-I took your virginity last night, and you allowed it."
Unable to bear his words, she raised her hand to slap him, but he caught her arm and pressed her wrist hard, drawing a pained cry from her. Then, leaning in close to her ear, he whispered, "And do you know something? The look on your face when you first saw me was the only thing that kept me from killing you-or getting rid of you-last night. Besides, we enjoyed ourselves immensely. Don't deny it now, my dear wife."
He finished speaking and shoved her arm forcefully, making her stagger until she collapsed onto the massive chair behind her. Curling up in shame, she turned her face away as he continued to dress. It was obvious he was preparing to leave-and that was exactly what she craved with every fiber of her being: to be rid of him as soon as possible.
Before departing, he tossed a check at her, which fell to the floor at her feet. She looked at it with curiosity, seeing nothing but an abundance of zeros. Thousands of thoughts swirled in her mind, but his parting words cut through them before he exited the house: "This will fix what was damaged from last night."
He left her utterly speechless; his words were like thorns slowly burrowing into her heart.
"What does this bastard mean? Does he really think he can fix everything with his money?" her mind whispered in anguish. Of course, not everything can be mended with money-especially her broken heart.
She felt as if she had betrayed herself, and betrayed Noah twice-simply by spending the night with Jevail on the same bed.
"But I thought him to be Noah. Doesn't that work in my favor with him?" she murmured, her eyes drowning in illusions and memories of Noah and his promises, only to be repeatedly shattered by the reality of her cold husband-a dangerous man, a billionaire feared by millions, against whom no one could stand. Proof of this was the agonizing difficulty she had endured trying to prepare the divorce papers; not a single lawyer would help her once they discovered who her husband was.
Her gaze remained fixed on the dust trailing from his car as it left the garden of the house-her house, the very dowry she had received from him. That sight drove home the realization that her entire life belonged to him. Even her body-the body she had once offered for the one she loved-had been claimed and defiled by him just last night.
She collapsed onto the floor, her body trembling. "I made a mistake," she whispered through tear-filled eyes, then shook her head in denial. "No, Melody-Jevail is to blame. He should never have been in my home in the first place!"
She screamed in anguish before rising in a furious rage, smashing everything on the table-plates and glasses shattering, their fragments scattering across the room.
Once her fury subsided, she finally realized her leg was injured and the bleeding wouldn't stop. She stared at her wounded leg, trying to ignore the incessant ringing of the landline phone that only fanned the flames of her anger.
"What now, for God's sake?" she cried out in a weary voice as she answered the call. She already had a million troubles to deal with-and the caller was the last thing she needed.
"I'm the one who's entitled to ask you-what did you do to Mr. Jevial Gabriel that made him pull all his funding from our company's only project, the one that was meant to protect her from bankruptcy?" The voice on the other end belonged to her elderly grandfather, the other criminal who had sold her to Jifil. Without uttering a single word, she slammed the phone down on him.
"What do I expect from this merciless wretch? All he cares was not me, fuck, "
