I slammed my fists against my temples, the pain shooting through my skull like a jagged lightning bolt. "What's wrong with you, Hailey?" I screamed, my voice echoing off the hospital room walls. "Why can't you remember? Just remember who you were!" The machines surrounding me sprang to life, their beeps and alarms blaring in a cacophony of sound. My heart rate spiked, and my hormones surged, sending my body into a frenzy. Suddenly, a flurry of white coats burst into the room. Nurses rushed to my side, their faces etched with concern. One of them quickly injected a sedative into my IV, and I felt my eyelids growing heavy. As the darkness closed in, I caught a glimpse of the nurses' worried faces, their mouths moving in slow motion as they spoke words I couldn't quite hear. The machines continue to beep and whirl, their sounds fading into the distance as I succumbed to the darkness.

Chapter 1 Awakening

Hailey's POV

The scent of disinfectant permeated the air, mingling with the hum of fluorescent lights overhead and the rhythmic beeping of machines that echoed in my ears. A heavy pipe pressed against my cheeks, while a lighter one rested on the bridge of my nose.

I attempted to open my eyes, but a haze of confusion veiled my vision, making it challenging to focus on anything.

Taking a deep breath, I tried again-this time more deliberately. Gradually, shapes began to materialize around me. I turned my gaze to the right and noticed a tray filled with syringes and vials. Then, shifting slowly to the left, I saw towering machines emitting beeping sounds.

I cautiously lifted my head, but the harsh glare of the fluorescent lights forced me to shut my eyes as a sharp pain pulsed through my skull.

"Where... where am I?" I managed to mutter, struggling with the heaviness of my own words. My entire body felt numb, including my face.

"Where am I?" I repeated, this time with a bit more urgency.

"Doctor! Doctor! She's awake!" A voice pierced the air, an exclamation that triggered another wave of pain in my head and made me wince.

"Hello, it's wonderful to see you awake. You're safe now," said a woman with a radiant smile, dressed in a white gown that matched the softness of her expression. Her words were calm and measured, as if she were speaking to a child.

A nurse? Why am I here with a nurse? What happened to me? I thought, struggling to piece together my circumstances.

"Where am I?" I asked one final time, fixing my gaze intently on her.

"You're in the hospital, my dear, but there's no need to worry; the doctor will be here shortly," she reassured me, her smile unwavering.

"Hospital? Why am I in a hospital? What happened to me?" I queried, a surge of adrenaline coursing through me.

"Save your strength, my dear. All your questions will soon be answered," the nurse replied.

I turned my head away from her, still wincing from the intensity of the pain in my head. A few moments later, a man in his late thirties entered, wearing a white coat. He must be the doctor.

"Hello, ma'am, how are you feeling?" he asked with a friendly smile.

"How do you think I'm feeling, Doc?" I retorted, my frustration bubbling beneath the surface.

"I want to know; that's why I asked," he replied.

"My head feels heavy, and the pain accompanying that heaviness is unbearable. My entire body feels numb, and my face feels strange too," I explained.

"I understand. It's a side effect of the medication we're using to keep you and your baby healthy," he said.

"Wait, what? Baby?" My confusion deepened.

"Yes, ma'am, you're three months pregnant."

At that moment, an unusual strength surged through me as my hand instinctively moved to my belly, where I could feel the small bump.

I closed my eyes, my mind reeling in confusion. My hands remained instinctively on my stomach clutching it as if holding on to a lifeline. A wave of dizziness washed over me as I felt my breath catch my throat. The beeping machines and muted voices grew distant, replaced by the sound of my own racing heartbeat.

"Doctor, I'm bewildered. What happened to me?" I pressed, overwhelmed by the sudden barrage of revelations. I had no recollection of anything-one moment I was unconscious in a hospital bed, and now I was pregnant.

"What has happened to me?" I asked again.

"Wait, you don't remember?" the doctor's voice held a hint of surprise.

"If I did, would I be asking you?" I shot back weakly.

"Nurse Julie," he addressed the nurse, who had been attending to me moments earlier.

"I need you to call the psychiatrist, and I need an MRI, CT, and EEG conducted on her immediately."

"Okay, doc..." she replied and hurried out of the room.

"Doctor, is something wrong?" I asked, my confusion deepening.

"I'm sorry, but I can't provide you with any information until these tests are completed, ma'am," he responded, his tone serious.

"Could someone please give me a straightforward answer?" I urged, trying to raise my voice but only managing a faint whisper.

After what felt like an eternity, another doctor entered. Soon after, I was wheeled into a room filled with large machines, where a series of tests were performed. Before long, I was returned to the previous room.

Minutes later, the doctor re-entered with several papers in hand, his expression serious. I was propped up in a semi-reclined position, feeling somewhat stronger but still disoriented.

"Doc, can I please get some answers now?"

"Yes, of course. But first, can you tell me your name?"

"My name... my name..." I concentrated for a moment.

"Yes, I remember. I'm Hailey Kilman."

"Phew, that's a relief," he answered.

"Why is that?" I inquired, intrigued.

"Because, ma'am, three weeks ago you were brought here by a man claiming to be your husband, who said he rescued you from an accident."

"Hus..." The word 'husband' shot a sharp pain through my head, and flashes of light danced in my vision. I clutched my head, grimacing in agony.

"Are you alright, Mrs. Hailey?" the doctor asked, concerned.

"Doctor... accident? When? How?"

"Please, Mrs. Hailey, try to relax. I assume you don't remember the incident?"

"No, I don't, and you're telling me I've been here for three weeks?"

"Yes, ma'am. You've been in a coma for the past three weeks," he confirmed.

"But... how?" I stammered, struggling to comprehend the information.

"Accident, coma, baby, husband..." My head throbbed painfully at the thought. Why did that word hurt so much? How was I supposed to reconcile these fragments?

"So, you're saying that a man brought me here?" I asked, deliberately avoiding the term that caused me distress.

"Yes," he replied.

"And this man is responsible for the child I'm carrying?"

"Well, that specifically I can't confirm. Any questions regarding your personal life must be answered by your husband..."

"STOP! Don't... don't say it," I interrupted, cutting him off before he could finish.

"Who am I?"

Chapter 2 Agony

Hailey's POV

I slowly opened my eyes, wincing as the harsh fluorescent light stabbed at my retinas. The windows were sealed shut, but the artificial glow more than made up for the lack of natural light. As I struggled to sit up, a searing pain shot through my hands, radiating from the needles embedded in my skin. I bit back a cry, my eyes watering from the discomfort.

I tentatively lifted my hands, wincing as the movement sent fresh waves of pain coursing through my veins. The needles seemed to be anchored deep within my skin, a constant reminder of my fragile state. I felt a surge of frustration, my body trembling with the effort of trying to free myself from the constraints.

Just as I was starting to feel overwhelmed, the door swung open and the doctor walked in, his expression a mask of calm concern. His eyes locked onto mine, and I felt a sense of relief wash over me, hoping that he might hold the key to unlocking the mysteries that surrounded me.

"Mrs. Hailey, be careful." He rushed to my side and tapped the side button on the bed which adjusted the bed to a way that was comfortable for me.

"Doc.... When do I get out of here?" I asked, already frustrated from the constant smell of disinfectant, and injections.

"Mrs. Hailey, you just woke up from a coma yesterday, you can't be discharged until we are sure beyond measures that you're fully stable."

"Well, doc I am, I really am." I said, the frustration evident in my voice.

"That's desperation talking Mrs. Hailey," he said, making me turn my gaze away from him saying curses under my breath. It was at this moment I took a good look at my environment, there were so many flowers around me, they all screamed luxury.

On my right were expensive flowers wrapped in little vases, and beneath them were wrapped gift boxes.

"Mrs. Hailey, uhm... there's someone here to see you."

"Someone? Who?" I asked curious.

As the door opened, a young man walked in, exuding an undeniable aura of confidence, his face chiseled, with sharp features that seemed almost otherworldly, I found myself drawn to his hazel eyes which appeared to change colors in the light.

He raked his long hair back with his hands revealing a strong jawline. His suit seemed tailored to perfection, accentuating his athletic build. I couldn't help but notice how his eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled.

His presence was captivating, and I felt a shiver run down my spine as he approached me. Who was this mysterious stranger? And what did he want with me?

He was the perfect definition of beauty and luxury.

"Mrs. Hailey, this is Mr. Aiden Brooklyn, your husband." The doctor's voice echoed, jolting me back to my thoughts.

This time the sound of that word didn't cause me as much pain as it did yesterday. But my head tingles a little.

"Husband?"

"Yes, Ma'am"

"Doc, could you give us a minute?" His deep voice echoed in the room.

"Okay sir." He said and bowed slightly before leaving.

"Hey." The stranger said, piercing me with those eyes.

"Hey." I replied, adjusting my butt a little in defense as he stepped closer.

"I'm not here to hurt you." He said, noticing how uncomfortable I was.

"Don't come any closer." I said

"Okay fine, I won't I promise." He gestured to me to be calm.

"How are you feeling today?" He asked, seeing I was more relaxed.

"Confused, and curious. I want answers."

"That's understandable, the doctor told me you had a little memory loss."

"And?" I retorted.

"Okay, what do you want to know? Ask me anything."

"First, are you really my husband?"

"Uhm... to be honest I'm not. I just told the doctors that so they could start your treatment as soon as possible."

"Oh."

"Yeah."

"Who are you then?"

"I'm Aiden Brooklyn like the doctor said earlier, I'm the CEO of Brooklyn's entertainment, and I'm 27 years old."

"Who am I? And how did you save me?"

"Hmm... he heaved a deep sigh. Well, I couldn't get much information of who you actually are, but I was able to find some data." He said, bringing out a paper from his pocket and handing it over to me.

"That's your birth certificate, which was the only thing I could find."

I stared blankly at the paper, my mind reeling with information. twenty-three years old, from nova haven city..... My parents, Corey and Aaron Kilman, were dead. The words felt like a punch to my gut, leaving me breathless.

I crumpled the paper in my fist, feeling the tears prick at the corners of my eyes, my legs felt like lead, weighing me down, making it hard to move or think.

I slumped back on my bed, feeling the weight of my emotions crushing Me. He bent down carefully picking up the crumpled paper, his movement slow and deliberate. I watched, my eyes fixed on the paper as he smoothed out the wrinkles.

"What am I supposed to do now?" I thought, feeling a hollow sensation gnawing at my chest. How can I remember who I am?

"What city is this?" I asked, breaking the awkward silence between us.

"You're in Nova Haven my dear." He replied.

I slowly turned my gaze from him as I let the tears flow even more.

"What do you want from me?" I asked

"Nothing... I was just concerned and worried about you, and rushed here as soon as the doctor told me you were awake, so I decided to come see for myself that you were fine."

"Well you have now haven't you?" I said my gaze was still on the other side of the room.

"Well... yes.... B..."

"Now leave." I ordered.

"Miss. Hailey, you don't have to be...."

"Get out!!" I yelled, mustering every single strength in me, making him flinch.

"Hai...."

"I said... get out." I interrupted.

"And take your gifts with you." I added.

"Hmm.. you really don't.."

"I hate repeating myself." I interjected

"I'll come back tomorrow." He said before leaving.

I watched him walk through the door and walked out of sight through the glass walls. I bursted out in tears as soon as he left,

I slammed my fists against my temples, the pain shooting through my skull like a jagged lightning bolt. "What's wrong with you, Hailey?" I screamed, my voice echoing off the hospital room walls. "Why can't you remember? Just remember who you were!"

The machines surrounding me sprang to life, their beeps and alarms blaring in a cacophony of sound.

Chapter 3 Memories

Hailey's POV

*********flashback*********

A cacophony of memories burst forth in my mind, like a long-forgotten door creaking open. A deep, hoarse voice reverberated through my skull, its malice and contempt palpable.

"How dare you?!" the voice bellowed, its fury making my skin crawl.

"You're just a worthless orphan...

Baby, just leave her to rot alone in poverty."

A tiny, trembling voice responded, its innocence and vulnerability piercing my heart.

"Do you love me?"

"We're getting divorced"

The response was a cold, mirthless laughter, its edges sharp as knives. "Hahaha... You'll never be happy."

A faint, hesitant voice whispered, "Are you like him?"

The laughter swelled, growing louder and more menacing. I felt a wave of despair wash over me, followed by the sound of sobs – my own, I realized, as the flashback began to fade.

******flashback ends*******

I jolted awake, my eyes snapping open to the harsh fluorescent light. "No, no, no... Leave me alone!" I yelled, my voice hoarse from sleep. The only sound in the room was the frantic pounding of my heart.

As I struggled to catch my breath, a flurry of white coats burst into the room. Doctors and nurses swarmed around me, their faces etched with concern. Aiden's worried expression stood out among the crowd, his eyes locked onto mine.

One of the doctors moved in close, shining a tiny light into my eyes. I winced, feeling a surge of discomfort. Aiden's warm hands enveloped mine, his touch calming my frazzled nerves. I felt my tense muscles relax slightly as he held my hands.

The medical team worked quickly, their movements efficient and practiced. Minutes passed, and they finally finished their examination. As they stepped back, the bed was adjusted, and I was helped into a sitting position.

I looked around, taking in the sea of faces surrounding me. Aiden's eyes met mine, his expression softening into a gentle smile. I felt a sense of gratitude toward him, this stranger who seemed to care for me deeply.

"Miss. Hailey, are you alright?" One of the doctors asked.

"Well I'm fine now, but doctor what happened to me?" I asked curious. My head hurts and it feels like I have just run a thousand miles in one night. I said, holding my head.

As Aiden's hand settled on my head, his warm touch sent a soothing wave through my frazzled nerves. His eyes locked onto mine, filled with a deep concern that made my heart skip a beat. For the first time, I felt a sense of safety, like I was shielded from the world's dangers.

A pang of regret hit me, remembering how I'd lashed out at him the day before. His kindness and gentle gaze made me realize that I'd misjudged him. He wasn't trying to hurt me; he genuinely cared about my well-being.

A wave of remorse washed over me, and I felt my eyes prick with tears. I looked away, trying to compose myself, but Aiden's gentle pressure on my head kept me grounded. His silent understanding and empathy wrapped around me like a warm blanket, making me feel seen and heard.

"Miss. Hailey, it seems like some little fragments of your memory are fighting their way through. But I'll advise that you don't force it, when the time's right you'll remember it all."

"But doctor..."

As the doctor's words hung in the air, I felt a surge of frustration and desperation. Aiden's calm voice cut through my emotions.

"You heard the doctor, Hailey, don't force it." I looked up at him, my eyes welling up with tears.

Aiden's expression softened, and he reached out, wrapping me in his warm arms. I buried my face in his chest, feeling a sense of safety and comfort. My body shook with sobs as I poured out my emotions.

"I just want to be fine, I just want to be happy," I sobbed, my voice muffled against his chest.

Aiden's arms tightened around me, holding me close. "You will be Hailey, you will be happy," he whispered, his voice filled with conviction.

As I pulled back, looking up at him with pleading eyes, Aiden's expression changed. He looked taken aback, as if unsure if I truly meant my words.

"Please stay with me," I begged, my voice barely above a whisper.

Aiden's face softened, and he nodded. "Okay Hailey, I will," he said, his voice filled with warmth. He pulled out his phone and dialed a number, canceling his appointments for the day.

As he sat back down beside me, I felt a sense of relief wash over me. Aiden took my hand in his, his touch warm and comforting. "We'll get through this, I promise," he said, his eyes locked on mine.
