Chapter 1 Caught Cheating

Inside the busy office hall of Montgomery & Sons, I saw a man struggling to keep his balance. He was carrying several bulging bags of important documents, and his feet were slipping on the marble floor. Just as he was about to topple over, I rushed in from the side, my heels clicking against the ground.

"Edward, wait-!" I called out, desperate to help. I reached out to steady him, but it was no use. Instead of preventing his fall, I stumbled, and we both went crashing to the floor, documents flying everywhere. The loud thud drew everyone's attention.

The office erupted in laughter. Edward, face contorted with rage, scrambled to his feet. "Dammit, Seraphina!" he snapped. "You never should have bothered helping me! Look at this mess...you've made everything worse! These documents are everywhere because of you!"

My face flushed with embarrassment and frustration. I tried to stammer out a defense, but before I could get more than a few words out, a sneering voice cut through the amused crowd.

"What were you thinking, Seraphina?" It was Judith, the office's resident queen bee, her tone dripping with condescension. "Trying to help someone when you're as fat as a whale? You only made matters worse."

The laughter redoubled, whispers and snide comments rippling through the crowd. I heard the cruel names-"clumsy cow," "useless," "liability"-going around me, each one a sharp sting to my pride.

With a deep breath, I managed to pull myself to my feet. I cursed softly under my breath, anger and hurt bubbling inside me.

I placed a protective hand over my abdomen, aware of the tiny life growing inside me. At three months pregnant, I had risked my baby to help a colleague, only to be met with mockery and scorn.

"Thank you all for your concern," I muttered, my voice low but steady, laced with sarcasm. I bent down to gather the scattered documents, moving deliberately and controlled.

I straightened up, clutching a pile of papers. I fixed Edward with a hard gaze. "Next time, try asking for help instead of assuming you can manage on your own," I said coldly, before turning on my heel and walking away, the crowd parting before me.

Ignoring the snarky remarks and cruel laughter sounding through the office hall, I made my way to my office, head held high. I refused to let my coworkers ruin my mood.

Tonight was special. It was our second wedding anniversary, and I planned to break the news to my husband, Williams, about my pregnancy.

Once inside my office, I grabbed my bag and picked up my phone to call William. He didn't pick up on the first or second ring. On the third, he finally answered.

"Hello?"

"Hey, Will," I said, a smile spreading across my face upon hearing his voice. "Do you remember what today is?"

He interrupted me, his tone brisk. "Seraphina, I'm swamped today. I've got a business meeting in the morning, and I need to catch an afternoon flight. I won't be around."

My heart sank. "Oh," I managed, trying to keep the disappointment out of my voice. "I understand."

And he didn't make any response to that, he just hung up on me. Something which made a dull ache spread through my chest.

This wasn't the first time he had missed an important date. He had never been around for our anniversary, always consumed by work. William was a billionaire, a powerful man whose job always seemed to come first.

I tried to remind myself that I loved him too much to complain. His success was part of what made me fall for him. But as I sat there, the excitement of our anniversary and the joy of my pregnancy announcement faded.

I couldn't shake the feeling of loneliness that had crept in, nor the dull ache that came with the realization that once again, I would be celebrating alone.

...

After work that evening, I couldn't bear the thought of spending our anniversary night alone in the mansion, missing Williams too much if I stayed with just the servants. Instead, I decided to visit my best friend, Jessica, unannounced.

I pulled up to Jessica's house, noticing how quiet the neighborhood was at this hour. Her house was dark, save for a small light in the living room. I parked my car and got out, walking up to the door which I found slightly ajar.

"Jessica?" I called softly, stepping into the house. The silence was broken only by the soft rustle of my footsteps. As I moved deeper inside, I stumbled upon a shocking sight: both male and female clothes scattered on the floor, along with shoes. My cheeks flushed with embarrassment as I realized Jessica must be with a lover. From the bedroom, I heard the unmistakable sounds of female moans and male groans, with the bed creaking nonstop.

"Oh, you feel so freaking good!" the man groaned, and his voice sounded way too familiar for his own good.

Feeling deeply awkward, I turned to leave, intending to wait in my car until they were done. As I reached the door, Jessica's voice floated to my ears, moaning, "I feel better than her, yeah?"

The man groaned in response, "So much better."

My heart raced. The man's voice, the words he said...it all seemed too familiar. Against my better judgment, I found myself moving toward the bedroom. The door was already open.

What I saw made my blood run cold.

On the bed, tangled in the sheets, were my husband and best friend.

They were naked, passionately having sex as if their lives depended on it.

I felt like the ground had been pulled out from under me. My heart dropped into my stomach, and I nearly lost my balance. "Williams!" I screamed, the word tearing from my throat like a wounded animal.

Their movements stopped abruptly.

Michael's face went pale as he turned to look at me, whereas Jessica's eyes were wide with shock.

Chapter 2 Pain, Humiliation And Accident

I stood there, shivering and in tears, unable to believe what I was seeing. "How could you do this to me, Williams?" I choked out, my voice trembling. "Cheating with my best friend? You told me you had a business meeting."

Williams pulled away from Jessica, his expression remorseless as he wrapped a towel around his body. "Seraphina..." he began, but there was no hint of guilt in his voice.

I turned to Jessica, my heart breaking even more. "You betrayed our friendship, Jessica. How could you sleep with my husband behind my back?"

Jessica smirked, clearly enjoying my devastation. "It's not my fault that I have a great body, Seraphina. Williams came after me."

The words cut deep, and I was too hurt to think clearly. I raised my hand to slap Williams, but he caught my arm mid-air, his grip tight and unforgiving. "Don't you dare," he warned, his voice cold and stern.

I could barely believe it. My husband stood there, cold and remorseless, as if he had done nothing wrong. Instead of pleading for forgiveness, he pushed me back with force. I staggered, almost slipping and falling. Tears streamed down my cheeks.

"You were too blind to see that I lost feelings for you," Williams spat. "You're fat like a pig, Seraphina. No curves, not sexy, can't even dress right. How could I not cheat? You're highly unattractive. You can't make me feel like a man."

The words hit me like a sledgehammer. My entire world seemed to crumble. "How can you say that?" I whispered, my voice barely audible through my sobs. "I loved you, Williams. I gave you everything."

He chuckled cruelly. "You're a liability, Seraphina. Fat, weak, and stupid. Jessica is way better than you in every aspect."

Williams moved back to Jessica, holding her close. She looked at me with a triumphant smile, leaning into him. The sight was too much for me to take.

My heart shattered into a million pieces. I felt like I was drowning in pain and humiliation. The man I loved, the man I trusted, had torn my world apart, and my best friend had been complicit. The betrayal was too deep, the hurt too profound.

Jessica sneered at me, her eyes glinting with malice. "Williams is a great guy, Seraphina. What makes you think you can have him all to yourself? You're stupid to think you have him just because of that silly ring on your finger."

Rage boiled over inside me. I lunged at Jessica, my hands reaching for her as I screamed, but Williams stepped in front of her, his expression cold and protective. "Don't even think about hurting Jessica," he warned, his voice a low, dangerous growl. "You'll have me to contend with."

It was like a nightmare I couldn't wake up from. My heart felt like it had been plucked out of my chest and thrown to the ground, stomped on by my husband and my best friend. Mostly by Williams. The betrayal was suffocating.

I screamed, the sound raw and filled with anguish, as hot tears streamed down my cheeks. "How could you do this to me?" I cried, my voice breaking. "I trusted you, I loved you!"

Williams's eyes were cold, devoid of any remorse. "You were never enough, Seraphina. Look at yourself. How could you think you could keep a man like me satisfied?"

Jessica laughed, a cruel, mocking sound. "Face it, Seraphina, you're nothing compared to me. Williams deserves better, and that's exactly what he's getting."

The room spun around me. I felt like I was going to vomit. Seeing my husband protect Jessica, after I caught them in bed together, was too much to bear. It seemed as though he was ready to hurt me if I so much as touched her.

I staggered back, the weight of their betrayal pressing down on me. My body shook with sobs as I clutched my chest, trying to hold myself together. The love of my life, my husband, stood by another woman-my best friend-and looked at me with disdain.

"You're despicable and heartless," I whispered, my voice trembling. "Both of you."

William just smirked, pulling Jessica closer. "Get out, Seraphina. You're nothing but a liability. Fat, weak, and pathetic."

Jessica smirked at me, enjoying every second of my suffering. "And don't come back," she added. "Williams and I have plans."

I turned and fled from the house, my vision blurred by tears. The pain was overwhelming, consuming every part of me. I felt like I was drowning in a sea of betrayal and heartbreak, unable to find my way to the surface.

Rain poured down in heavy drops as I fled from the house, my vision blurred by tears. The betrayal and heartbreak felt like a grip around my chest, squeezing tighter with every step I took. The cold rain mingled with the hot tears streaming down my face, but I didn't care. I just had to get away.

I ran blindly through the downpour, not paying attention to where I was going. The world around me was a blur of headlights and darkness, my sobs drowned out by the thunderous rain. My heart was shattered, each step fueled by the agony of Williams's and Jessica's cruel words.

Suddenly, there was a blinding flash of headlights directly in front of me. I barely registered the sound of screeching tires on wet pavement before the impact.

The car knocked me off my feet, and I felt my body hit the cold, hard ground. Pain exploded through me, and the world spun wildly.

For a brief moment, I was aware of the rain pounding on my face, mixing with the blood trickling from a cut on my forehead.

The driver's panicked shouts were distant and muffled, like they were coming from underwater.

Darkness crept in from the edges of my vision, and I felt my consciousness slipping away.

As I lay there on the rain-soaked street, the pain and cold fading into numbness, my last thought was of Williams's betrayal and the life growing inside me.

Chapter 3 Suffering Kiss And A Divorce

I woke up in a sterile white room, the antiseptic smell of the hospital filling my nostrils. My body ached all over, each movement sending sharp pains through me. The beeping of the machines was rhythmic and distant, like a heartbeat far away from my own. I blinked, trying to clear the fog from my mind, but the pain was a constant, relentless reminder of what had happened.

I tried to sit up, but my limbs feel heavy, weighed down by an unbearable sadness and physical agony. As I moved, I felt a dampness beneath me and looked down to see the sheet covers stained with blood. Panic surged through me, and my breath caught in my throat.

The door creaked open, and a doctor entered, his expression neutral but his eyes betraying a hint of sorrow. He approached my bedside, his hands clasped in front of him.

"Mrs. Luther," he began, his voice calm and measured, "how are you feeling?"

I swallowed hard, my voice trembling as I spoke. "Doctor, my baby... Is my pregnancy okay?"

His face fell slightly, and he shook his head. "I'm sorry," he said softly. "You lost the baby."

"No," I whispered, the word catching in my throat. "No, no, it can't be..." The tears welled up, spilling over and streaming down my face. "Please, no..."

The doctor sighed, his gaze filled with compassion. "We tried everything we could to save the baby, but the trauma from the accident was too severe. I'm truly sorry."

A guttural cry tore from my chest, my body shivering uncontrollably as the reality of his words sank in. The pain was overwhelming, a crushing weight that seemed to suffocate me. My hands clutched at the sheets, the bloodstains a cruel reminder of what I had lost.

I cried out, my sobs sounding in the room, a raw, primal sound of grief. My whole world had shattered in an instant. The baby I had carried, the life I had dreamed of, was gone. The betrayal of Williams and Jessica, the accident, and now this – it was too much to bear.

The doctor stayed by my side, his presence a silent acknowledgment of my pain. But there was nothing he could say or do to take away the ache in my heart. My tears flowed freely, and I let myself drown in the sorrow, my cries filling the room as I mourned the loss of my child.

In that moment, I felt utterly and completely broken, the weight of my grief pulling me into a darkness I feared I would never escape.

Right after the doctor left, I was still crying, the raw pain of losing my baby consuming me, when the door opened again.

My heart sank as Williams and Jessica walked in, their presence an added weight on my already shattered spirit.

"How dare you show up here?" I spat, my voice cracking with grief and anger.

Williams chuckled, his eyes cold. "You're fat enough that you can barely carry yourself around and clumsy enough to get into an accident? Pathetic."

Jessica laughed, her voice like nails on a chalkboard. "Oh, poor thing," she cooed, brushing Williams's arm. "It must have been really bad for you, getting into an accident."

I cursed at them, my voice hoarse from crying. "You will regret this. Both of you."

Williams clapped his hands, and one of his servants rushed in carrying a file. The servant held it out to me, barely looking at my face.

"These are divorce papers," Williams said, his tone authoritative and cold. "Sign them. It's over. I no longer want this marriage."

I stared at him, hurt and anger boiling within me, making my body tremble. I had lost our baby, after getting involved in an accident because of his betrayal, and now he was shoving divorce papers in my face? The depth of his cruelty was staggering. He couldn't even beg for forgiveness.

Jessica, smirking, deliberately flaunted her curves in a tight dress, trying to make me feel even more insecure. But I clenched my jaw, refusing to give her the satisfaction.

Williams's power and wealth radiated off him, and the servants hovered around me with the pen and divorce documents, waiting for my compliance. I looked at the papers, my vision blurred by tears, and then back at Williams and Jessica.

My mind hardened. I would not show them my hurt anymore; it only brought them joy. I refused to let them see my pain.

"I'll give you ten million dollars and two of my estates to compensate for all your pains," Williams added, his tone almost bored like he would rather be anywhere else than here.

I shook my head, my voice firm. "I don't want anything from you."

Jessica scoffed and blinked incredulously. "You were broke and struggling before Williams pitied you, picked you from the gutters, and took you in. And now you're rejecting his money and properties? Do you want to starve to death?"

I didn't respond to her. Instead, I met Williams's gaze and said, "You want a divorce? Fine, I'll give it to you."

Satisfaction flickered across Williams's face, a twisted sense of victory in his eyes.

With a trembling hand, I finally signed the divorce papers, feeling a cold finality settle over me. William's face broke into a triumphant smile as he collected the papers.

"It's so sad we're ending this way," he said, feigning regret. "Nevertheless, I saw it coming." He then pulled Jessica close to him, his voice dripping with affection. "She is my ideal kind of woman. She's everything I've ever wanted in a woman. Thanks to you, Seraphina, I found her."

He pecked Jessica on the lips, and I felt a wave of disgust wash over me as I watched them. They thought they had won, standing there so smugly. I chuckled bitterly, the sound harsh and filled with contempt.

"Get out," I ordered, pointing at the door. My voice was firm, even though my heart was breaking.

Jessica smirked and added, "Lose some weight, Seraphina. You're too fat for your own good. No man would want to keep someone like you."

As William started to leave with Jessica, he turned back one last time, a cruel smirk on his lips. "It's a shame you couldn't be the woman I needed, Seraphina. But don't worry, Jessica will take good care of everything from now on."

Jessica, nestled against his side, looked at me with a triumphant gleam in her eyes. "Goodbye, Seraphina. Try not to eat yourself into oblivion."

William chuckled, a low, mocking sound that rang in the room. "Remember, you brought this on yourself. You were never good enough."

My heart shattered but my jaw slowly hardened.

This was just the beginning of my return.

As the door began to close, a fierce growl escaped my lips. "You will both regret this," I vowed, my voice trembling with fury and boldness. "I swear, you will regret everything you've done to me."

William and Jessica paused, staring at each other for a moment before bursting into laughter. "You can barely help yourself," William scoffed. "How could you possibly make us regret anything when you have nothing?"

Jessica added with a sneer, "Good luck with that, Seraphina."

With those parting words, they finally left, their laughter sounding down the hallway.

I stood there, my heart pounding, tears streaming down my face, but a new fire igniting within me.

They had no idea what they had unleashed. This wasn't the end of my story. Not by a long shot.
