A girl named Lily. She lived in a magnificent city, but her fate was not so lucky. She was a simple girl, had a gentle heart, and had a beautiful face. However, fate had another word for her when her family was entangled in serious financial problems.
"I don't want to marry someone I don't know. How could you sell me?" said Lily, who was on the verge of tears.
Lily's parents, pressed by mounting debts, felt they had no choice but to find a way out. Finally, they found a seemingly favorable deal by marrying Lily off to a Billionaire who already had a wife, but had yet to be blessed with a child. The Billionaire's wealth was expected to save Lily's family from bankruptcy.
"Forgive us, dear. This is one way to get rid of our endless debt," said Lily's mother, still forcing their daughter to marry a Billionaire.
"No, no, no. I still don't want to. I'd rather die right now. Instead of marrying someone I don't love!" Lily shouted in front of her parents.
"Look at this. They've even prepared all the contracts we need," said Lily's father handing over some files.
Lily was shocked and shaken by the proposal, initially refusing vehemently.
"Is my worth limited to this business proposal? Are you so willing to sell your only daughter?" Again, Lily could not accept. Her position was very unfavorable, she also did not want to be a disobedient daughter, but she also did not want to be a second wife.
"Please help us, this is only temporary until our economy stabilizes. Mommy promised to take you away," Lily's mother said sadly.
Lily could not bear to see her mother crying, because all this time it was Lily who had no role whatsoever
"Honey, Mommy please just this once." Lily's hand was grasped, the woman was already sobbing.
As Lily's parents told her how important the deal was for their survival, Lily's heart instantly broke.
Finally, with a heavy heart, she agreed to marry the Billionaire.
"Okay. I agree." Lily went straight into her room. She brooded all night. Her life had changed completely, even though she had never demanded any wealth from her parents.
"What a miserable fate I have. How can I continue living as a second wife," Lily mumbled through tears. The girl was completely stuck and confused. There was no way she could leave her parents when they were in distress.
Not long after signing the contract, the wedding day between Lily and the Billionaire was set.
"So soon?" asked Lily when her parents told her that they would be getting married soon.
"Take it easy. The wedding party will only be attended by close relatives and a few people. You don't need to worry, dear." Lily's mother Ester smiled with satisfaction as her daughter finally agreed to the wedding.
"Ester! Look at this," Lily's father suddenly came with a letter. The man read it aloud.
"Oh my! We're officially getting a piece of the farm." Esther, who was none other than Lily's mother, screamed with joy. As for Lily, the girl was full of misery. She didn't even know what the future held.
"Why are you feeling so happy? Don't you feel guilty for selling me?" said Lily amidst her parents' excitement.
"Take it easy, dear. We are marrying you off to a very wealthy man. The richest in the whole country," Estee said with a beaming smile.
"But you must remember. As soon as possible, you must provide an heir for that rich man. If you don't, then your position will be dangerous, as his first wife is unlikely to stay silent." Lily's father gave a warning, for some reason Lily had always disliked the nature of her parents.
"I'm so tired," mumbled Lily who was ignored by her parents. Instead, they were having fun because they had managed to get a portion of the farm.
"Don't do anything strange. Your wedding is the day after tomorrow. Don't try to run away," Esther threatened her daughter.
Lily was surprised to hear her mother's confession, even threatening.
"How can Mommy be blind to such wealth," Lily retorted without fear.
"Everything in this world needs money. How can you live if you don't have money!" Esther glared, staring intently at Lily.
The girl could only look down. She had nowhere to go. Her marriage was fixed. But her heart ached to accept the harsh reality.
As night fell, a family meeting was held before Lily san the Billionaire was officially married.
"Strengthen me, O Lord. If this is the best, it's okay, I'll let it go as long as Mom and Dad live well," Lily said, trying to smile.
Lily wore a dark green dress with a small lace that clung slightly to her chest.
With trembling steps, Lily walked into the family meeting. The little girl could only let out a rough sigh. She did not dare to stare, even for a glance.
"Is this what my destiny looks like?" said Lily standing next to her mother.
"Is she the one named Lily?" pointed out a woman who was both beautiful and luxurious. The things she wore were very expensive and luxurious.
Lily's mother quickly nodded, "Yes, it is. This is our daughter. We have guaranteed her fertility," said Esther, embracing Lily's arm.
The girl could only surrender, she actually wanted to hit her mother who was suddenly so sweet.
"So innocent," the woman continued in a chuckling voice.
"Isn't that nice? You don't have to worry if Alex will love that girl," said one of the other women.
Lily ventured to look at the people around her. She was unable to guess which one was her future husband.
"Don't waste time. There's no way I love this little girl. I only need her womb," said the man who was a little far away from Lily.
The girl went straight to the origin of the voice. Sure enough, Lily found a handsome man with broad shoulders like a nobleman.
Lily slowly exhaled a rough breath. "It looks like I'm just a child-maker," Lily said a little loudly.
Ester who heard that immediately smacked Lily lightly on the arm, and smiled awkwardly in front of everyone.
"Did you expect more?" asked the lavishly dressed woman. Lily didn't know that it was the Billionaire's first wife.
"No." Lily answered briefly. That made the woman who had asked a little furious.
"Understand, you're just a child-maker, nothing more. Don't lead anything!" the woman said loudly.
"Stop it Sasa! You shouldn't talk like that to the girl who will give us offspring!" one of the men replied. He looked old from the sound of his voice.
Lily quickly looked in the direction of the voice, and sure enough it was Alex's parents, which meant Sasa's in-laws.
"Looks like this fancy dress woman is Alex's first wife," Lily muttered dryly.
"So? Is our family having a wedding next weekv?" asked Esther, afraid that things might get heated.
But Sasa made a face of displeasure. She still didn't want Alex to marry another woman. Even if it wasn't worth it to her.
Lily was silent in her room. She kept thinking about how to get her marriage to the Billionaire canceled. Especially when she saw Sasa, the Billionaire's first wife.
"That man is indeed handsome. But what's the meaning of handsome, I can't even possess him completely." Lily chuckled in annoyance. From the window of her room, the girl watched the city sparkle.
The place she lived in was a big city, but not the main city. Lily only lived on the outskirts of the city. Not the heart of the city.
"Lily!" Suddenly from outside the girl's room, her mother shouted loudly. Lazily, Lily opened the bedroom door and put on a flat face.
"What's wrong? Do I have to do something again?" asked Lily with an expressionless flat face. The girl had lost her taste for life.
"Look at this!" exclaimed Esther displaying a variety of jewelry and very fancy clothes.
"I don't need that. I just need my life back," Lily replied and closed the door.
"Lily, what's wrong with you? Don't be impudent!" shouted Esther from outside the room.
Lily shook her head slowly, she didn't expect to have such wealth-crazed parents.
"Look, Mom doesn't even realize that she's the one spending all this money," Lily muttered, burying her face between her pillows.
The girl cried bitterly lamenting her soon-to-be second wife.
"I haven't even fallen in love yet. But why do I have to be the second wife," Lily said softly. She continued to lament her fate as a wife.
Lily had no appetite for any activities. Her heart was already hurting and disappointed. She was forced to marry someone she didn't know at all. Worse, she was only limited to producing offspring for the Billionaire.
Lily continued to lament her fate, not realizing that it was already 2pm. The girl could not close her eyes.
"What's the point of me living," Lily muttered, staring at her dressing table. There lay a pair of hair clippers that she used frequently. Lily's eyes stared fixedly at the scissors.
"Do I have to use those scissors to end this life?" moaned Lily in the silence of the night.
Suddenly, her body stood up on its own. Lily did not seem to realize that she was walking absentmindedly towards the dressing table. She looked at the scissors once more.
Lily smiled slightly, "Goodbye," she said and took the scissors and quickly stabbed it into her wrist.
Blood flowed profusely, but Lily did not feel any pain. Before her vision blurred, Lily had smiled happily and then lost consciousness.
"Lily!"
A woman shouted loudly. Lily could hear it clearly. Vaguely before closing her eyes, the girl smiled slightly and then her vision became white as fog.
"Goodbye world," moaned Lily who was now unconscious.
The noise managed to disturb Lily's sleep. The girl blinked her eyes repeatedly. Her head hurt, especially her wrist. She was in excruciating pain.
"Where am I?" mumbled Lily about to wake up.
"Lily?" an old-looking woman sat beside her.
Lily made a questioning face, not knowing who the woman beside her was.
The girl swept her gaze across the room. She was surprised to see many people including Alex, her future husband and Sasa, her future husband's first wife.
"What's going on?" I asked quietly. My energy was still weak. Not like usual.
"Don't you remember what happened last night?" the old woman asked.
Lily just shook her head slowly, she had completely forgotten what happened last night.
"You! You bitch!" said Sasa turning to look at Lily who had just regained consciousness.
"Me?" asked Lily pointing at herself.
"What's wrong with me?" asked Lily again with an innocent face.
"Look at that woman, Alex! She's even pretending to lose her memory," said Sasa looking like she was holding back a lot of anger.
Lily looked at Ester, her mother. As if asking for an explanation of what had happened.
"Lily. You be honest now. This must all be that woman's doing, right?" Esther was a little hysterical, pointing at Sasa.
Lily was even more clueless about what had happened. She closed her eyes, trying to remember what happened.
"Ah .... that night I stabbed myself," Lily muttered a little tightly.
All eyes were on the girl, including Sasa who was staring hatefully at Lily.
"You heard! It was your daughter who wanted to kill herself! Why am I the one you blame!" Sasa shouted in front of Esther's face.
Esther held back her emotions. Lily's mother really didn't like Sasa being Alex's first wife.
"Is that true? You tried to kill yourself?" asked an old woman beside Lily.
The girl nodded innocently, she wasn't lying and Lily wanted everyone to know that.
"Listen to that Alex. That woman doesn't even want to marry you," Sasa whined in front of Alex.
"Shut up! You can't even give us offspring!" the old woman next to Lily suddenly shouted loudly. She looked sharply at Sasa.
"Ah... looks like this woman is Alex's parent," Lily said to herself. I don't know if Lily should be happy or sad.
The girl was silent, she had been looking down and didn't want to get involved in any conversation.
"We need to get married as soon as possible," said the old woman beside Lily. The girl immediately turned her head, surprised by the statement.
"But, isn't the wedding still going to be held next week?" refused Lily gently. She was actually shocked and not ready.
"No, dear. I don't want you to hurt your body any more than this," replied the old woman smiling gently.
"What does that mean? They should be angry with me and cancel the wedding, not speed it up," Lily muttered feeling something was wrong.
"Listen to that Lily. You're about to become the richest man in town," Ester said with a smiling face.
Meanwhile, Sasa, Alex's first wife, stared in exasperation at Esther for provoking her in-laws and demonizing Sasa. Ester accused Sasa of being the mastermind behind Lily's suicide, as a result of Sasa's evil words the other day.
"But, Mom." Lily tried to resist. But her mother's hand hit Lily's arm first and she glared a little to be controlled.
"Be quiet. You're going to live a rich life after this," Esther whispered in Lily's ear. The girl just looked down listlessly.
"How could they not just let me die. They even deliberately took advantage of the situation to ruin Sasa on my behalf," Lily's mind was irritated by her parents' greedy nature.
"Alex, say something. You should refuse this marriage. Look, that girl is so horrible, she even dares to make accusations on my behalf," Sasa whined once again in front of her husband.
"Shut up! You're just a barren woman, nothing more." The old woman, who was none other than Alex's mother, severely rebuked Sasa.
Sasa immediately fell silent, her face very sour and full of resentment. Once again she had been called barren.
"Damn it! I will avenge all of you, especially you Mrs. Selena." Sasa gave her mother-in-law a sharp and displeased look.
Mrs. Selena, who was soon to become Lily's mother-in-law and one of the richest old ladies in town, smiled with satisfaction after learning that the girl was fine.
"Now, you must recuperate quickly. Your wedding will be moved forward," Mrs. Selena said. The old woman beside Lily smiled gently, but the girl shuddered in horror at her insolent attitude towards Alex's first wife.
"What if I can't get pregnant?" asked Lily matter-of-factly, the girl ventured to look at Mistress Selena. Their gazes met.
Mrs. Selena looked at Lily seriously, the old woman frowned. Probably confused by the question the girl had just asked.
"Don't think about it. Lily is still young, she is still unstable. But you've seen for yourself that my daughter doesn't have any fertility problems," replied Ester who quickly approached and warned Lily not to speak anymore.
"Yes, I have seen it. I hope this girl can quickly provide offspring for my family," Mrs. Selena said with a happy smile.
"Ah... of course. Unlike your barren daughter-in-law," murmured Ester glancing at Sasa and offering a sly smile.
"Mom!" Lily slightly snapped at Esther for offending Sasa. The girl kept her feelings for the Billionaire's first wife.
"Child and mother are the same!" Sasa said loudly, then walked out of a room that was none other than the one where Lily was being treated.
The girl had been declared cured, she could go home and rest completely at home. But Lily's heart and mind could not rest.
"Don't expect you to run away or kill yourself again!" Lily's father exclaimed loudly in front of Lily's face. Now the girl could only surrender. Her parents had deliberately hired bodyguards to watch Lily's movements.
The girl let out a rough breath, Lily thought that she was not the biological daughter of her parents.
"Why would they sell their own child. They would trade my happiness for a small amount of money," Lily muttered softly. The girl continued to lament her fate. She could not even move freely wherever she wanted.
"Oh my God. Is it really my destiny to remain a second wife?" Lily's mind kept asking where the fair fate had gone. She had not even had the chance to fall in love with a man.
Lily buried her face between the pillows that faithfully served as a backrest when she wanted to cry over a life that had been cruel. The girl could not move freely, even the guards did not let Lily move at all. They kept a close eye on what Lily was doing. Lily's parents did not hesitate to do so.
"Where is Lily?" asked Esther when she saw that Lily was not in her room.
"She is in the garden," replied one of the bodyguards in charge of guarding Lily. Esther quickly followed where Lily was.
The girl was enjoying the afternoon breeze, the flowers she had planted had grown vigorously and displayed beautiful petals. Lily gently touched them, as if saying goodbye to her beloved garden.
"Isn't life like this so much fun?" said Esther, suddenly coming over to Lily.
The girl was a little surprised by her mother's arrival, "What do you mean?" asked Lily in a disrespectful tone. She was really fed up with her mother's greedy nature.
"Take a good look at this plant. If you hadn't married that billionaire, this plant and even everything here would have changed hands," Esther said shamelessly in front of Lily.
The girl exhaled harshly, "I don't mind if I have to let this place change hands. After all, who would trade their daughter's happiness for so little money." Lily replied steadily without looking at Esther.
The woman was a little troubled by her daughter's answer. She almost grabbed Lily's long hair that was left loose.
"Lily!" Esther shouted loudly, her breathing ragged. She couldn't take what her daughter was saying.
"Isn't that true? You've traded my happiness for a second wife. Isn't that just like being the mistress of the richest man in town?" chided Lily with many facts. Now the girl did not hesitate to confront her mother.
"Ah... so this is how you really are. Aren't you afraid of being poor? Living in the village with all its shortcomings?" Esther looked sharply at Lily, but the girl smiled faintly.
"No, I'm not afraid to live in poverty. I have not wasted your money. It is you who are not wise with your own wealth," Lily replied without hesitation. Their eyes met. Now mother and daughter were glaring at each other.
"You hypocrite! You've been enjoying what I have," Esther said sarcastically.
"You'll see. You won't be able to escape and will still be a money-making machine for me," Esther continued and walked away, leaving Lily shocked by her mother's words.
Lily was instantly stunned. She never thought that her biological mother could talk like that.
"A money-making machine? How low am I worth?" cried Lily in anguish after her mother's departure.
"Why do they never think about my feelings? Why do they always impose their will?" Lily wondered at her surroundings for her parents' cruel treatment.
The girl was in the garden for quite some time. The sun had almost drowned her whole body. But Lily still faithfully gazed at the lush flower beds. Lily's gaze blank, someone touched her hand.
"You should go inside immediately. The night air is not good for your health," said one of the women who was none other than the servant appointed to watch Lily's movements.
"Do you know what foods make a woman's uterine fertility decline?" asked Lily shamelessly. Her mind was so stuck, suddenly such a thought came to her.
The woman shook her head, "Nothing. You should try to accept your destiny. Besides, it's not bad to marry a rich man, in fact I envy you," the woman replied quickly.
"Then you should marry a rich man." Lily stood up, not getting the answer she wanted.
"We are of different castes. You should be grateful that you're going to be one of the richest men in town," the woman said shamelessly.
"Is money all you have in mind? You seem to be just like my parents," Lily muttered and walked away, leaving the maid alone.
"Don't be a hypocrite, you need the money too," muttered the maid who could still be heard clearly by Lily.
"Everyone thinks I'm crazy for money and possessions. Everyone must look down on me for being willing to be a second wife." Lily let out a rough breath, her mind was in turmoil. She couldn't think straight. All her plans had failed. The wedding was going to happen anyway, sooner or later.
The girl glanced at the calander on her dressing table. She counted hopefully where the wedding day would take place.
"I'll officially be the second wife in a few weeks," Lily murmured softly. Her voice even sounded sad, like she was not sincere with the fate that had chosen her to become a second wife.
"This is not what I wanted," Lily said a little louder. From the sound of it, the girl was very distressed. Karen was only days away from her wedding. The girl cried more and more. Every night all she did was cry and cry over a life that had cruelly taken away her happiness as a teenager who still wanted to play with nature.
"You're all evil! You've taken away my happiness!" cried Lily between the pillows covering her pretty face.
