The Billionaire's Second Chance

Dave Philips a young billionaire CEO,the only child of Mr/Mrs Philips..He grew up as a loner being controlled by his Parents.. His parents would tell him what to eat, drink and also the clothes to put on..Mr/Mrs Philips were always busy with work and had no time for their son making him grow in the hands of maids through their supervision..

Dave Philips had no choice but to adhere to his parents instructions although he was fed up of his parents always dictating his life..

"You will have to continue the company as you have come of age,you are no longer a child."Mr Phillips said as he picked up his glass of water..

"Dad I'm not experienced,i don't know anything about the company how do you expect me to run it."Dave said,he was already confused and he didn't know where to start from as he had no experience..

"My son, your Dad and I will be going for a business trip which may last for a year and we want you to continue from where we stopped...i believe in you and I know you will make us proud."Mrs Philips said as she filed her nails..

"My assistant will put you through and you must pay attention to every detail of what you will be thought.. Am I understood."Mr Philips commanded..

"Ye..Yes sir."Dave stuttered..

"Will you speak like a Man..If anything happens to my company in my absence, you won't like what I will do to you. "Mr Philips shouted

"Talk to your son."Mr Philip said pointing at his wife

Mr Philips stood up feeling disgusted by Dave's reply and headed to his room.. Dave had always been scared of his dad, due to how his dad treated him and he questioned himself if he was actually his father..Mrs Philips on the other hand, is a skincare addict as she is always concerned about her skin..she pushes her motherly duty to her maid..

"You have heard what your Dad said..Do your possible best to make us proud."Mrs Philips said she patted her son's back as she left the sitting room..

Dave was wished in was raised in another family.. He prayed to have a normal life where his life won't be dictated by his own parents..He couldn't share his pain because no one was there to listen but he kept it to himself and became a loner..He hardly talks and always keeps a strict face..

The next morning,Dave couldn't sleep the whole night as he wondered how he was going to run his father's company..He also wondered how he would associate with people as he was always restricted from having friends as his parents will always tell him that friends are bad influence and he obeyed to their instructions..

Dave encouraged himself and was ready to set out as he stepped out of his room he met his mom...

"Why are you putting on this."Mrs Philips said assessing his dressing from head to toe..

"What is wrong with what I am putting on."Dave asked

"Please go in and change because your outfit doesn't look good..i will get you something to wear."she said

"Not again..,So u can't choose what I want to wear again. "He murmured..

"Are you talking to me."Mrs Philip asked as she wanted to be sure of what she heard..

"No.. Let go. "

"Please don't waste my time because I have to prepare,i dont want to miss my flight."Mrs Philips as she dragged him inside..

She chose an outfit which she left would be better for him and she praised her son telling him he looked good on it.. Dave wasn't comfortable on it as he felt stuffed in it,the tie felt like a choker but he decided to act cool...He stepped out and was driven to the company by his Jude his driver..Jude had been his Dad's driver for a long time as he has worked for them for years..Jude Was the only person Dave was free with and he discuss part of his problems with him..

"Young boss how do you feel today. "Jude asked as he wanted to start a conversation with Dave

"I don't know how I feel as it is my face time to work in my father's company..Am I not too young for all this? "Dave said as he became discouraged..

"My dear you are young for all this put what can I say..You just have to do what they said and make them proud.. I believe you can do this,i trust you. "Jude said assuringly

Dave breathed heavily and wasn't ready for all this drama but he had no choice..Jude said encouraging words to him which lifted his spirit and made him more determined..

"Good morning sir."A staff greeted as he entered the company..

He thought why the people that were way older than him would address him as sir.. Mark his father's assistant welcome him and took him to his office.. Mark ordered for a board meeting where he wanted to introduce Dave to the company..

"Good day everyone..we have a new face in our midst today,let us welcome Dave Philips the only son of Mr/Mrs Philips the CEO of this company. "Mark said pointing towards Dave direction..

Dave started feeling light as his worst nightmare was coming to reality..Dave wondered how he would say a speech in front of all this people..He scanned the room and saw a good number of people..They were patiently waiting for his speech and all their eyes were on him..

"Th..thank you all. "Dave stammered

The cleared his throat,opened a bottle of water and drank from it.. Everyone was surprised by his actions and wondered if he was okay..Dave felt embarrassed and decided to summon his courage to say something..

"Mark has said it all.. I'll be looking forward to your cooperation and we all working as a team."Dave said as he bowed his head as though the words were written on the floor..

Mark noticed what was happening and distracted the mood with a clap and the meeting was dismissed..Dave breathed as his heart pounded heavily...

Dave went his office and hoped he didn't embarrass himself in the presence of his staff..He was distracted from his thoughts with a phone call.. He wasn't in the mood for any calls but he had to take it because it was his Mom that was calling..

"Hello my son..How is everything going over there."Mrs Philips asked as her mouth was stuffed with food..

"I can't hear you well.. What did you say."Dave asked ..

Mrs Phillips repeated herself as she told him she was eating..

"You traveled to enjoy yourself and you kept me in a tight corner."Dave thought

"Have you arrived. "Dave asked..

"Yes we have. "She replied..

"Hope you are fitting in well?..You will have a great time there don't worry. "Mrs Philips said reassuringly..

,,"I am..."Dave said as he was interrupted by his mother..

"I'll talk to you later son..i have to go for my spa session it's almost time,Bye!" Mrs Philips said as she immediately ended the call..

"All she cares about is spa, skincare and the rest.. She doesn't even care about me and she calls herself my mother. "Dave said as he sighed..

"I wonder the kind of family I got into."He added as he arranged his table..

Months passed and Dave became well known of the activities of the company with the help of Mark..He was free with everyone as he could speak bodly without fear.. He could definitely represent the company well and he also bagged huge deal for the company which his father did not applaud him for but rather told him to make more effort..His father made him feel like though his efforts wasn't encouraging.. Others commended him for his efforts and wished to do more deals with him..

"I have seen the documents you sent to me on my email.. I'm not that impressed with it,make sure you do some corrections and add more things because this is a big deal and you don't want us to miss it. "Mr Philips said as he was on a phone call with Dave..

"I have gone through it and I know it is perfect."Dave replied..

"Are you more experienced than me?..I inherited this company from my parent at a very young age so I am far experienced than you.. Do what I told you to do."Mr Philips said authoritatively..

Dave was silent for some minutes..he wanted to end the call but decided to respect his dad..

"Another thing.. Bella would be in town by next week and I want you to pick her up..i want you two to get along as you know her dad is a very good friend of mine."Mr Philip said

"He wants to invest in our company and I want you to get close to his daughter so that it would be a long-term contract."Mr Philips added

"Doesn't she have a personal driver..Do I look like a chauffeur?..I'm not going to do it."Dave thought..

He wanted to say does words put couldn't,he didnt have the courage to..Dave didn't have a reply to what his Dad said..

"OK. " Dave said feeling devastated..

"Alright talk to you later. "Mr Phillips said as he ended the call..

Dave felt like throwing the phone away but he decided to act cool..He looked round his office and wondered what kind of life he had gotten into,a life that was dictated by his parents..A life that he agrees to whatever they say,he wondered when he could speak up for himself bodly as he couldn't wait for that day to come..

"Come in."Dave said as he heard a knock at the door

"Sir,the applicant is here."The secretary said

"What applicant?"Dave said as he was confused..

"The applicant for the post of your personal assistant."The secretary reminded him..

"Oh.. I forgot,I'm actually busy now."Dave said as he looked at his laptop..

"Send the person in. "Dave concluded

"Alright Sir. "Maria said as she approached the door..

Maria had worked for his father's company as a secretary.. She was diligent with her work and she loved Dave but couldn't expose her feelings..she was always giving him attention but he never noticed any..

"Good day Sir. "Sara said as she recognized Dave face..

Dave was busy with his laptop and he directed her to sit with his hands..He looked up and saw her and he instantly remembered her..

"What are you doing here.. Who brought you in here. "Dave shouted..

"Sir I'm sorry..I'm sorry about yesterday."Sara pleaded

Dave remembered what Sara did to him yesterday as she embraced him in the mall yesterday in the presence of everybody.. Dave went to the mall yesterday to get some things and he accidently bumped into Sara causing all her things to drop on the floor.. Sara due to annoyance reigned curses on him.. She was having a bad day and that was all her money could afford and Dave made it waste..

Dave tried to apologize to her but she was not having it and now she is here in his office..

"Can you leave my office."Dave commanded..

"Sir please I'm sorry. "Sara pleaded as she regretted her actions..

Dave didn't listen to her plea but was keened on making her leave the company.. Sara didn't know what to do,she blamed herself for messing up.. As she was about leaving she saw Maria who asked the problem and she narrated her ordeal to her..Maria told her she should wait outside as she would talk to Dave on her sake.. Sara thanked her and hoped it worked..

"Yes what is the problem."Dave asked as he saw Maria

"Sir please just forgive her..I know she messed up. "Maria pleaded..

"Do you know what that girl did to me? She embarrassed me. "Dave said

"I know..Why not employ her and make her pay for her actions. "Maria suggested as she looked at Dave raising her brows..

Dave had a rethink of what she said and he knew it was a good suggestion.. He said he will make her pay dearly to the point she would leave on her accord..

"Alright I have heard what you have said.. Tell her to report to my office. "Dave said..

Maria was happy as she able to convince Dave and she felt that her prayers were gradually working..

"What is your name."Dave asked..

"My name is Sara."Sara replied.

Dave told her to stand up as she says her name..she did according to what she was instructed and sat down..

"Stand up.. Your work has my personal assistant has started."Dave said sternly..

"Get me a cup of coffee.. With no sugar and no of milk, the coffee must be as though milk was added to it..if it doesn't look like that I will reject it."Dave said..

Sara wondered what an impossible task it was..She looked at him as she hoped he would change it but he didn't then she quietly left to accomplish the impossible task.. After few minutes she returned with the coffee and handed it over to Dave..Dave looked at it and gave it back to her..

"You wasted much time on this..so I can't drink it because I have lost the mood."Dave said as he typed on his laptop ..

Sara wondered if they was a certain mood to have when taking Coffee..she was confused and tired at this point..

"Alright.. I'm hungry and I won't be going out for lunch and you'll be the one to get it as my assistant. "Dave said glancing at her..

"Alright sir,there is no problem about it."Sara replied..

Dave smiled within as Sara didn't know what was coming here way.. He wasted some time on his laptop then he finally spoke making Sara stand for ages..

"I get my food at Olive foods..I'll transfer it to your account so get going."

"Sir,the Olive foods I know is very far from here.. Unless it's another one."Sara asked as she was confused

"That's the olive I am talking about.. I've called them,they have packaged the meal just go there to pick it up. "Dave said..

"Or Don't you want to go?..if you don't want to go tell me so that I will fire you and employ another person. "Dave said faking a serious look..

"I'll go Sir.. Let me be on my way. "Maria said as she leaves his office..

"Hold on."Dave said as he made her stop..

"You have fifteen minutes to get back to this office..if it exceeds I won't eat it."Dave said..

"But you know it takes up to thirty-five minutes to get to the company because that place is very far."

"If you still want to go let me know."Dave said trying to remind her the outcome of not going with his look..

"I wil go."Sara said

"Alright get going because your time starts now."Dave instructed..

After few minutes Sara was back drenched in sweat..She was very tired and felt like fainting..When Dave saw her he was very happy that the payback was actually working..

"I gave you fifteen minutes to be back and you came back. "Dave said as he paused to check his wrist watch..

"Okay you are a minute late."He said..

"Should I take this or reject it. "He said aloud.

Sara prayed he accepted it because she really stressed herself in getting the package.. She closed her eyes waiting to hear his response..

"Alright.. You can have it,I'm not hungry."Dave said as he continued typing on his laptop

Sara felt like giving him a slap but held herself..she stared at the food murmured a thank you and left..

"After all this stress he didn't eat the food?"Sara said feeling dissapointed..

Sara looked at food,opened it and she was excited by the aroma and couldn't wait to eat it..As she was about to take a spoonful of it, she got a call from Dave.. Sara wanted to scream but held herself as she was in a public place..

"He gave me the food and still doesn't want me to eat it..I feel he is doing all this on purpose."Sara said as she approached his office..

"Sir please I know you are doing all this to punish me for what I did to you,I am sorry.. I have begged you a thousand times."Sara pleaded..

Dave noticed he was being hard on her and he decided to be less strict with her..

"Alright I have forgiven you."Dave said glaring at her..

"Thank you Sir." Sara said as she was happy with his response..

"You are welcome.. Look at that Shelf."Dave said pointing towards the direction..

Sara turned to look and she saw a shelf filled with dust and old books..she prayed it was not want she was thinking..

"Okay I want you to clean them up and arrange them properly.. I'll be going out for a meeting please make sure you are done with it before I arrive."Dave said

Dave stepped out and Sara stood there in shock as she couldn't believe what he said..she looked at the shelf and wondered where she would start because it was look dirty,messy and bulky..

"But I just apologize...I will just give him slap a resounding one at that." Sara said as she demonstrated how she would slap Dave..

As she continued demonstrating the door suddenly opened and Dave stepped him,she stopped immediately trying to compose herself.. Dave took his laptop,gave her a sarcastic look and left..

Sara couldn't believe she just embarrass herself in front of Dave..She looked and the shelf and started cleaning..When she was done she started sneezing,she sneezed throughout the rest of the day.. Dave felt guilty as he was the reason she was passing through it and he decided to stop tormenting her..

"I noticed you have been sneezing since today,whats the problem ."Maria asked

Sara told Maria about all her ordeals today and the dusty shelf she was asked to clean that made her to be sneezing since.. Maria was aware about all this but she pretended and told her Dave was a nice person that with time she will get to know him..
