Will Maya be able to uncover the secrets that Elijah keeps, or will she become the latest casualty of his ruthless ambition? Dive into this gripping tale of love, power, and deception to find out." "I don't have time for this. Your time is ticking. You need to sigh the marriage contract" Elijah's expression turned cold. "I'm not signing the damn thing. I'm taking this child and wiping the memory of you out of my life" I glared at him. I turned around ready to grab Tiffany's hand and leave the court room. But what I saw stopped me. I could clearly see the red light pointed at Tiffany. I looked outside the church, tracing where it came fro, and perched atop the building, was a sniper peering through the scope of his rifle, his finger poised on the trigger, as he took aim on Tiffany. I felt my heart almost jump out of my mouth. I turned my body to face Elijah. "What are you doing?" I asked, my body shaking in fright. "That's not me" he said, smirking. "They are here for you, Maya. Your past have finally caught up to you. You move one inch, your beloved best friend goes down for you... another innocent blood smeared on your dainty hands" he said smiling wickedly. I felt my blood go cold, beads of sweats began to form across my forehead and palms. Slowly I walked towards him. I couldn't let Tiffany go down for me. I couldn't let another innocent soul die for me. This was my fate. My happy ever after was all a fairy tale after all. I took the pen, signing my name across the thin black line. Tears went down my cheek, dripping on the contract, the ink smudged on the paper. I could feel his warmth spread over me, his nose trailed delicately on my ear, leaving wet sparks over it. "Welcome to your hell, Astrid Grey" he said, my real name rolling out of his lips like a curse

Chapter 1 Maya

I sat at the bar, nursing my drink in my hands. It was rowdy, but I couldn't deny I needed the distraction. It had been two years since I left New York.

"Hi. Mind if I join you?" I looked up to find the most beautiful man I had ever set my eyes on.

"Sure, it's supposed to be a free world," I shrugged, trying to act nonchalant, when I was anything but that.

He sat down on the stool beside me, never taking his gaze from my body. I couldn't deny that I loved his attention on me. I felt my skin burn with intense desire for this stranger.

"I'm Elijah. You seem a little bit out of it," he said.

"I'm fine. It's just the loud noise," I responded, averting my eyes from his hypnotizing ones.

"You're at a bar. You should expect this."

"Hmm," was my only response.

"I didn't catch your name" he said.

"I never told you..." I hesitated, unsure of how much I should reveal to him. "Maya"

I looked at him, and just then I saw something flash in his green orbs. But it quickly went away as soon as it came.

"You look better than I imagined," he murmured, and if I hadn't been close enough and paying attention to every detail of him, I wouldn't have heard him.

"Sorry? Do you know me because I'm sure I haven't met you before," I scowled slightly.

"No, I don't. I was talking about something else," he smirked, showing off his perfect dentition.

"What brings you here tonight?" he asked, his eyes sparkling with curiosity like I was that interesting. I wasn't...I was nothing more than a coward. Elijah didn't know this, and I should stay far away from him. But his eyes, his face, they did something to me. I could already feel the wet patches on my panties.

"I just needed to get out of my house. I needed space," I shrugged, taking a sip of my margarita.

"Hm, I understand. Responsibilities can be suffocating." he nodded, his fingers making trails on the tequila glass. My eyes followed the trails. I wanted to be that glass, badly.

"You don't look like someone who's suffocated," I said to him.

Elijah smirked. " You'd be surprised at the many things I'm capable of feeling," his eyes glinted, hinting at something.

I eyed him the same time I felt his eyes moving up my body in a seductive way. I knew he knew I could also feel the sexual tension between us. I hadn't had sex in more than a year, and right now my body badly craved a man. A strong and fit man like Elijah.

" Maybe I want to surprised," I muttered under my breath but his amused look told me heard.

And then, without warning, he kissed me. I almost fell across the stool, but his large hands quickly grabbed the small of my waist. His lips were just as soft as I imagined, sending sparks across my body. So this was what he tasted like...whiskey and red signs.

I loved it.

I pushed him off me, gasping for breath I didn't know I needed a minute ago.

"What are you doing?" I continued to gasp, a glare pointed his way.

"You wanted it. You were asking for it."

"I didn't ask for anything!" I whispered loudly, if that was even possible.

"Your eyes did. Your lips called out to me," he said, grabbing my jaw softly. As one of his fingers trailed down my neck, my body shuddered.

"Tell me you don't want this...tell me you are not begging for me to be buried deep inside you because I want to." his eyes never left mine as he continued to torture me with his callous finger. I knew we were in a public place, but at that moment, Elijah was the only one I could see and feel. "You smell heavenly". I felt the tip of his nose under my ear.

"F*ck," I swore. I couldn't describe what I was feeling. I hadn't craved anybody's touch as much as I did his. The walls I had spent years building were now slowly crumbling in front of me because of this stranger. "Kiss me" I whispered finally.

"I've been wanting to hear that all night," he said, not wasting a moment before his lips crashed on mine again.

Too quickly, Elijah released his lips from mine. I released a sigh of disappointment. I wanted more...

"Want to get out of here?" He asked, his pink lips glistening with saliva.

Do I? What would this mean? Of course, I wasn't ready to jump on any relationship at this point in my life. I was in a pivotal time in my life...

"It doesn't have to mean anything, Maya. Don't overthink it," he reassured, his hands moved up my dress, rubbing my inner thighs.

"Sure, let's get out of here". I grabbed my bag off the table.

******

Elijah's condo was large, it screamed luxury.

"Do you care for anything," he asked after removing his suit jacket. I noticed the bulge of his muscles, threatening to escape the flimsy material of the white shirt.

"No_no...I'm fine," I stuttered. I felt my legs going weak.

Can we just skip to the good parts now, I thought to myself.

And just as he read my mind, he came towards me, pressing his lips on my neck. He continued to trail his wet tongue down my neck until he reached the crevice of my breast. I felt I would orgasm at that point, but I couldn't spoil the fun. It was just too early.

I could feel his hard length on my thighs.

With a squeal, I felt myself being carried like I had no mass. He continued to carry me until he opened the door to a large room. He dropped me on the bed, his eyes taking in my half naked body. I hadn't even noticed my dress was no longer on my body.

"You're breathtaking," he whispered as I felt his hand at my entrance.

"F*ck Elijah," I rolled my eyes to the back of my head as he thrust his fingers into me. "I'm so close" I cried.

"No, princessa. You don't cum until I say you do, understood?" he commanded. I could feel his command from the way his gaze never left mine and, like the naughty girl I was, I obeyed.

"Yes sir"

The next morning I woke up with a horrible headache. Elijah's hand pressed on my stomach, preventing me from moving. I wondered how much he weighed.

Slowly the events of last night crashed in my mind. The euphoria I felt. I smiled at how many times he had begged for my body and how I never denied him once. Elijah was a beast in bed, a beast that made me almost obsessed with the idea of waking up to his mouth on me every morning.

But that obsession quickly vanished when I remembered he hadn't used any form of protection.

"Shit!"

Chapter 2 It's positive

Three weeks later

"It's positive," my hands shook as I stared at my best friend with tears filled eyes.

"Oh baby..." Tiffany, my bff, stood up quickly, her arms quickly engulfing me in a warm hug.

"What do I do?" I sobbed into her top.

"Don't cry, it's not your fault. You didn't know it would happen", she tried to reassure me. "Come here," she dragged me to my bed, sitting me down.

"What's your plan now?" Tiffany asked, her gaze soft on mine.

"I don't know. I can't keep a baby. I can't even fend for myself"

"I know, Maya. But you should know I'm here to support you. I'm here for you, girl. You don't have to get rid of it"

"It's not just about the money. I don't know if I can mother a child. I never grew up with one, you know that," I said, sniffing in the process.

"I know, baby. Look, you're the most amazing person in the world. You're kind, caring, strong and selfless, and I'm sure taking care of a child would never be a struggle for you. And if eventually things start to seem a bit hard, you have me. I mean, I don't think there's any mother out there that doesn't face any struggle bringing up a child," she said.

"I'm not sure about this, Tee. But thank you. That means a lot," I told her.

"You don't have to decide now. You still have time," she smiled as she rubbed my shoulder soothingly.

"Yeah" I smiled back, the load of the child in my belly now lighter.

"Maya... what about the father?" Tiffany finally asked. I had been hoping she wouldn't ask me about it. It's not like I wanted to keep anything from her, I just didn't know what to tell her. All I knew about him was his name. It was just a one-night stand, there wasn't any need for me to go all FBI on him.

"What do you mean?" I asked, acting like I didn't know what she was talking about.

Ever since that night, I couldn't get him out of my mind. I had even gone to the club several times hoping I would be lucky to see him, but I wasn't that lucky. Elijah roamed my mind, day and night. His touch, his kisses were a constant reminder of how good he had made me felt that night. I cursed myself every second for running away that morning. My insecurity made me do it.

"Don't play dumb with me, girl. What do you know about the father?" She scowled.

I bowed my head in shame, "I don't know anything about him. It was a one-night stand, remember," I scoffed.

"Oh...the one-night stand guy? Did you meet up with him again?" she asked, one of her brows raised.

"No. I haven't slept with any other guy since that night."

"So you don't even know where he stays or works?"

"I only know his name. We didn't really get to talk that night," I shook my head, mad at myself for making such a mistake. How did I forget to remind him to use protection? How could he be so dumb too?!

"Was he that fine, uhn?" Tiffany teased, her lips slightly curved into a smirk.

"Shut up!" My cheeks quickly flamed red. "I just didn't want him to think anything about what we were doing."

"Now look at what your nonchalant self got you into," she mumbled quietly, hoping I wouldn't hear, but I clearly did. I threw her a dirty look before sighing. She was right. This was all my fault. I should have at least made some sort of inquiry about him before spreading my legs wide open like a f*c*ing wh*re.

"I'm so f*c*ing stupid, Tee" I groaned into my hands, the tears threatening to flood again.

"Yes, you are, but it's okay. We have a lead now," she said, standing up and walked towards my work table before grabbing my MacBook.

She plopped herself back on my bed before opening the computer.

"What are you do-" I started to say, but she quickly interrupted me.

"What's his name girl?" She asked before opening Instagram.

"Elijah Ryker," I said. She gave me a look before typing it on the computer.

"You knew his full name all along, and you stood there crying like a fuc**ng hyena?" She asked incredulously.

"Shut up, Tee. Show me some pity." I couldn't help the laugh that stumbled out of my mouth. One of the many reasons I loved Tiffany.

She continued to search for him. She showed me a couple of pictures of people who had the same name, but I kept telling her they weren't the ones. At some point, she got tired, and I also got fed up.

"Is he an illegal immigrant?" she suggested. I shook my head, not believing that. Elijah didn't look like an illegal immigrant.

In fact, he looked the opposite. He looked wealthy and powerful, like someone who commanded respect at every turn.

"I'm not sure, Tee," I responded. I continued to stare at the computer as she scrolled on the different guys. Just as she was about to close the tab, my eyes saw him.

Elijah. He wore a dark suit like the last time I saw him.

"Stop!" I shouted.

"What?" She shrieked, clearly surprised at my sudden outburst.

"That's him!" I pointed at him on the screen.

"It says Elijah Tyler here, Maya," She looked at me like I was dumb.

"Yeah, Elijah Ryker is clearly a mistake. That's him, I'm a hundred percent sure."

"You lucky fool, you weren't lying. He's damn fine...and rich."

"He's the CEO of Tyler's electronics?" I gasped.

"You need to meet him," my friend said.

"What if he rejects me? What if he doesn't want this child? F*ck, I am not even sure I want this child myself." I started to hyperventilate. Tiffany gave me a knock on my head, bringing me back to my senses.

"You're going to walk in there and demand his attention. Yes, you guys made a mistake by not using any protection, but the deed is done. You're one of the most beautiful ladies out there. If he rejects you, it will only prove how stupid he is," Tiffany gave me a push.

I looked at her, wondering what my fate was about to turn to? I was scared of my future, I was scared of the baby inside me...but what scared me most was the fact I was already imagining a life with Elijah. The thought sent sweet thrills to my spine.

I stood up from the bed, my back hurting from crouching all along. Just then, my phone went off with a new notification.

'Surprise! We found you, Astrid Grey...', the text read. The phone fell out of my hand, crashing hard on the floor.

Chapter 3 I can't be a good mother

As I stood in front of the sleek glass, I felt a sense of intimidation wash over me. Elijah was insanely rich. I didn't need a soothsayer to tell me.

I took a deep breath and walked over to the receptionist in front of me. " Hi, good morning," I greeted her, trying to hide my uneasiness.

"Hi, can I help you?" she asked, her eyes still fixed on the computer in front of her. Rude.

"Yeah, I'm here to see Elijah Ryker...I mean Tyler. Elijah Tyler," I said, spoiling any chance of looking confident in front of this receptionist who seemed to be a bitch.

"Do you have an appointment?" She asked, finally looking at me. She eyed me, a look of disgust spread across her face. I also got a full look at her. She was quite beautiful.

She was gorgeous. A Victoria secret model kind of gorgeous.

"No, I don't. But I really need to see him," I hesitated.

"You can't see him. You have to have an appointment to see Mr Elijah Ryker," She said his name like he was a god.

'He's a god in bed.' I quickly shut the voice in my head.

"I know, but this is urgent...please," I pleaded.

She gave me another of her disgusted looks before finally picking up the phone. "Your name?"

"Maya," I answered quickly. "Tell him Maya from the club. Three weeks ago," I said in a rush again. The receptionist gave me a look before finally speaking on the phone.

"Maya, the chick from the club," she spoke into the phone. She paused to listen to what the other person said on the line.

"Yes sir," she said, much more softly than she had spoken to me...almost like in a flirtatious way.

Was Elijah fucking her?

I looked at her, waiting for her feedback. What if Elijah was already married?, I thought to myself.

After a few seconds, she finally looked at me, "I'm afraid Elijah is busy. He doesn't want to see you."

I felt a sting of pain at her words. "But I need to see him. Please, it's very important," I tried to beg.

"I'm afraid your request is not possible. You need to leave," she said, going back to her computer.

I sighed defeatedly. What was I expecting? For Elijah to rush out of his office and welcome me with wide arms? Of course, he was a billionaire and girls like me didn't deserve a second of his attention. I was just the girl who offered to give him her body like a wh*re.

I was just his wh*re. His careless pregnant wh*re.

I turned to leave, my head bowed slightly in shame.

"And don't you dare come back here. Elijah is my man," the receptionist said, her eyes glaring daggers at me. Of course, Elijah was the type to have affairs with his employees.

I stopped at a nearby café and sat down at a table, hoping to collect my thoughts. I was alone, devastated. There was no one I could turn to now.

I looked behind me, wary of my environment. Even two years after the incident, I was still always watching my back for the next person that would attempt to kill me. The text I got made it five times worse. They were close, I could feel it.

"I'll just get an abortion," I muttered to myself, a tone of determination in my voice.

I pulled out my phone and booked an appointment at the nearest hospital.

The next day, I pulled into the hospital, feeling a sense of trepidation wash over me. Was I doing the right thing? No. But did I have any choice? Yes. But this was the safest and most sensible option.

"Hi, love. I'm Nurse Tiana. I'll be in charge of you today"

"Hi," I tried to match her energy, but my voice only came out shakily.

The middle-aged woman looked at me kindly, "Don't worry, you'll be fine. I promise"

"I_I'm not sure if I want to do this," I sobbed, the tears staining my cheeks.

"Hey, hey. You don't have to do it. There's always another option."

"No, you don't understand. I can't be a mother to this child. I can't bring a child to this world when I know I can't give him/her the love they need. I'm a bad person, Tiana."

"No matter how bad you are, no matter what you did in the past, you can't be a bad mother, dear," she wiped my tears. "Check yourself...would you ever watch your child starve? Would you ever inflict any pain on that baby purposely? That's what defines a mother. Not your past, darling."

"No. I would never," I hiccuped.

"Then that's your answer. So what's your decision?"

"I'll terminate the pregnancy," I said even though I felt foolish. I would never intentionally hurt my child. That's why I wouldn't bring it to this world. People were after my life, I had no sustainable roof over me or income. I had no protection whatsoever. I would be wicked if I considered keeping the child.

"If that's what you think is right, that's fine too. Only you know what's best for your child. Come with me," She said, her smile still kind.

I nodded, following her into the exam room. As I walked, I couldn't help but think about Elijah. Did he know why I went there? Was the receptionist truly his girlfriend? Am I sure this wasn't even all just a dream?

I could not imagine how Tiffany would react to the news of me finally getting rid of the child... I had only told her I was coming to tell Elijah about my pregnancy. I hadn't told her about this.

I was beginning to go insane. Now, my decision felt right. I needed to get rid of this pregnancy. I could never really mother this child. I was too wrecked to be a mother.

The nurse handed me a gown, and asked me to change. Just as I was about to lie on the bed, I heard the door open. Expecting the doctor in charge to walk in, I looked up to greet him, but my jaw dropped.

In front of me stood the man who put me in this ridiculous hospital gown. His eyes glared at me, his hand folded in a tight fist.

"What the hell do you think you're doing, Maya?" Elijah growled at me. The sound of my name sounded like a symphony of pleasures in my ears.

"Elijah?"
