Author: : Quinn_Kay
Genre: Romance
Being unable to bear a child, Elaine is skeptical about her marriage of five years. Even though she had the love of her husband, she still felt insecure since she was barren. She later finds out that her loving and loyal husband was having a child out of wedlock and it was with her former friend, Claire. The same day, she got divorced. Painstakingly, she packed her stuff and left the house, swearing to take her revenge on the two people who ruined her almost perfect life, especially that of Jason's. But how will she do that when she has no family, friends, and nothing to her name? This is Elaine's revenge story.

Chapter 1 Dysphoria and Divorce

Excruciating pain! That's what Elaine felt. She was infertile; unable to bear a child, and was on the verge of losing her marriage.

It's hard to mourn the loss of something that you've never had but happens once every month. It's hard to not blame yourself and feel like you've failed. It's hard to run away from; the disappointment, the tears, and the jealousy. It's hard to put on a mask and pretend you're okay when deep down inside, you're drowning and you can't come out. Sometimes, you feel useless and want to call it quits. You wake up and start a new day with questions, wondering when to give it all up, and pray to God to save you from drowning in your tears.

Every day as the evening sets, the ache in her heart builds. She hugs her tear-stained pillow and screams without a sound.

She is asked if she is fine and she replies, "Oh yes, I'm fine. I'm good." But when you look into her eyes, you see struggles, pains, and agony.

She forces a smile amidst it all and says, "I'll be fine. This is only a phase, and I'll get by somehow." But then, she begins to doubt her words; she loses her hope and dreams.

Five years hadn't healed her wounds or helped quieted her fears. So, every night, she lies on her bed lonely as she shed those silent tears.

Elaine had been married to her sweetheart five years ago and still had no child. They dated for two years before getting married, making a total of seven years being together but all that while, she was unable to get pregnant.

Her husband, Jason Reed, is a wealthy and well respected man. He had promised Elaine that he wouldn't love her less if she couldn't bear him a child. He loved her and that was all that mattered.

Or at least, that's what she believed.

There she was, sitting down dejectedly in front of the gynecologist who looked empathically at her. She was her doctor for five years and she understood exactly how Elaine felt when she got the same result over and over again. She felt sadder about the news she was about to break to her.

"Jason brought a woman here for a pregnancy checkup." She broke out and sad Elaine turned sharply to her.

"What are you talking about? My Jason would never do that." She said reassuringly. The doctor sighed heavily.

"Sadly, he did."

Feeling insulted, Elaine grabbed her bag and left the office.

'How dare that lady try to accuse my Jason?' She seethed as she was rushing out of the hallway.

Amid her rush, she bumped into Claire, her ex-friend.

Claire seemed elated to see her former friend.

"Hello, Elaine. How are you? Hope you're pregnant." She was being sarcastic as a smirk formed on her small lips.

"I don't have time for your silly drama." Elaine tried to move but Claire didn't let her.

"Before you leave, I must let you know that I'm carrying a child," She spoke proudly and that was when Elaine noticed her little baby bump.

"And guess who this lovely child belongs to?" She rubbed her tummy with pride and looked at Elaine with disdain.

"How am I supposed to know that? One of your f**kmates?" Elaine scoffed. She was even disgusted by the thought of that.

"Of course, but guess who this mate is? Your husband!" Claire exclaimed and laughed.

Elaine found her statement funny and chuckled a little.

"My husband? Are you trying to be funny right now? I have way other better things to do right now and you're in my way, now, piss off."

She wanted to leave but Claire waved a file in her face.

"You don't believe me? Take a look at it. It's a paternity test. That's the only evidence you need, you infertile bitch." She cursed and kept the file in Elaine's hand.

Her hands were shaking after reading the report. Jason had brought Claire to the hospital? So, the story was true? She was devastated. It should have been anyone but her former friend. Anyone at all.

Claire snatched the papers from her hand.

"Happy now? Of course, you are. Your husband is finally going to be a father after so many years and his first child is coming from me, and not you. Run along now."

She tried to leave but Elaine dragged her back.

"Hey!" Claire snapped.

"Don't play games with me, Claire. What's the meaning of this? You're now lying just to get him?" Her voice cracked and tears threatened to fall out of her eyes. She didn't want to believe the story was true.

"Mind how you touch me. I'm the only child of my mother. Unlike you who is not even sure if her mother knows her father. You're all a family of sluts and infertile bitches!" Claire spat and before Elaine could think, her hand moved and landed on Claire's pretty face. It came as a shock to Claire; she wasn't expecting it and somehow, found herself on the floor.

The pains she felt were nothing compared to the eye-turning slap she had just received. Instead of a retaliating slap, Elaine saw crimson blood rush slowly out of her gown.

Her eyes widened in shock. Did a single slap cause that?

Claire wailed in pain and the nurses nearby rushed to her aid. Elaine was too shocked to leave the hospital so she stayed back, waiting to confirm that Claire was fine.

After several minutes of waiting, she saw an angry-looking woman charging toward her.

She recognized her to be Claire's mother.

"Good after----"

Her hand came in contact with her face immediately, halting Elaine from finishing her sentence.

"You are so dead meat if what I heard is true." She pointed angrily at her before walking inside her daughter's ward.

Elaine sat down tiredly.

'Why is the universe always against me?' She thought and just when she thought things couldn't get any worse, she saw her husband entering the hospital with his lawyer. When he got closer, she stood up with a small smile but he walked past her as though she was invisible.

'Did he just walk past me?' That was reality dawned on her. She connected the dots and everything was true. And looking at the bump, he had been cheating on her for a while.

"Oh my God!" She gasped and looked at the lawyer who stood outside the ward.

"He promised me he would love me no matter what." She told herself. "Then, where is that attitude coming from?"

She wanted to cry and scream but the tears weren't coming forth and she seemed to have lost her voice.

Her husband whom she did everything to please, who promised to be with her forever and not judge her for being infertile, was now the one snubbing her.

Her entire life was a mess.

Jason came out of the ward with his hands in his pocket. He looked like he was about to kill someone and that person was his wife.

When Elaine sighted him, she stood up.

"What's going on? Hope she's fine." She asked frantically.

"You care? You actually care but you hit her and now the child is gone? You're a joke, Elaine. A big joke. Till now, I'm still wondering why I married you." He spoke with hate in his eyes.

She couldn't believe her ears. Was he really saying that to her? His wife whom he promised to love and to cherish, for better or worst?

She grabbed the top button of her cloth as she looked away from him in confusion.

Jason looked at his lawyer and his lawyer nodded. He handed some papers over to the confused Elaine.

"What's this?" She asked.

"Take a look." The lawyer said. Jason sneered and adjusted his standing position.

"Hans, what is this?" She asked, almost trembling.

"Open the papers, miss." The lawyer spoke more aggressively this time. She flinched and began bringing out the papers.

Her eyes dilated in shock as she read the heading.

"Divorce papers?"

Chapter 2 Ruined Party

Elaine stood gobsmacked as she stared at Jason who had no expression on his face.

Her whole world was coming to an end and he did nothing about it. Rather, he served her divorce papers. That was the last thing on her mind.

"Why are you doing this?" She asked bitterly. Jason only smirked and walked out. His lawyer knew what to do.

She watched him do that. It pained her that her husband no longer loves her and wants to do away with her.

"I have a pen just in case you need one," Hans said. "Please, just sign the papers and save me the stress of having to disturb you. I'm sure you're a busy woman and wouldn't want that."

'Come on tears, just fall down and make me feel bad.' She pleaded with her body but even her body had abandoned her.

She didn't need to give it much thought. He wanted a divorce and he was going to get it.

She grabbed the pen from him and signed the papers without hesitating. She was letting him go because he had already given up on her. He wasted seven years of her life, giving her false hopes every day.

She handed the papers back to the lawyer, grabbed her bag, and walked out on him. That was the tears flowed. She wiped them off. She wasn't going to let that slide. She was going to get her revenge, which she promised herself.

She went back to the house in her car to pick up her clothes. She met Jason there hanging up on a call. She didn't speak a word to him. Rather, she went to the wardrobe and started packing her bags.

"You are not to take whatsoever I have bought for you and that includes jewelry, cars, shoes, and clothes." He blurted and she obeyed. She took everything she had brought with her before she got married, dropped the car keys, removed the pieces of jewelry and rings on her fingers, removed the shoes on her legs, and dragged her bag outside.

She didn't cry. She was going to be strong. Strong enough to take her revenge on the people who added to her misery, especially her ex-husband. She promised herself she was going to deal with him and that in the end, he will come back crawling on his knees.

"That's a promise." She said, determined.

Camera lights came from every corner as affluent men and women walked down the red carpet. The paparazzi would have swarmed around them if not for the guards that stopped them and pushed some of them back.

"I don't know why an assistant had to come to a gathering like this." Elaine grouched.

Her boss had forced her to come to the gathering; she blackmailed her with her position. Her boss held the highest position in the gynecology ward and Elaine was supposed to be the next in charge as her best assistant. But she threatened to give the position to another if she didn't come to the party.

"Such a petty thing!" She scoffed as she walked out of the car after her boss and her husband had alighted the car.

She stepped out of the red carpet, allowing them to take beautiful photos. When they were done posing, they headed for the door and she rushed to them.

"Mister Reed!" The crowd shouted just as she was about to enter inside. She turned to see her ex-husband holding hands with Claire, his new wife. The wounds which were still trying to close reopened the moment she saw the both of them together and smiling. He had moved on without her and there she was, unmarried, broke, and still struggling to get a notable position. She was as good as a nobody there. He left her with nothing and he froze her accounts. It was the worst time of her life.

"Elaine!" Her boss called out harshly and her trance was interrupted. She quickly realized she was staring and went to her boss.

This night would determine her future and she wasn't ready to waste it.

"I'm so sorry, ma'am." She bowed slightly.

"Keep your head in the game or else, I will fire you." The lady said scornfully and later smiled when she turned to her husband. The trio walked inside the large hall filled with clothed seats and tables. There was a lounge just by the right hand side of the hall and most of the people hung out there. Elaine looked back and saw her ex and her former friend walk into the hall. She quickly faced her front as she didn't want any of them to see her. But too bad for her, Jason had seen her.

"Elaine? What is she doing here?" He asked inaudibly.

"Go to the lounge and stay there. Always look at me because I might need something. If you don't respond quickly, you're fired." Her boss said sternly and Elaine nodded. She went to the lounge as told and sat there. Claire noticed her husband was staring at something but when she traced his eyes, she saw nothing interesting.

"Are you okay, honey? What are you looking at?" She asked him.

"Nothing, dear." He smiled and they went for a table.

Elaine noticed she was the only underdressed person there but she didn't care. It was the best she had and she was content.

"Elaine?!" She heard from behind her and she turned abruptly. She recognized the lady to be one of Claire's friends, Gina, and totally ignored her. She didn't want to come in contact with any of them.

"I'm talking to you, you nitwit." She cursed but Elaine just snubbed her. She didn't want to lose her cool; losing her cool meant losing her job too and she couldn't afford that.

"I wonder where you get such pride from. You're infertile and your husband left you for your friend. Why are you feeling like you're on top of the world?"

Without Jason, she was a prey in the lion's den. She was respected and feared as his wife but as a nobody to him, she was just filth; someone that could be trashed about and she hated herself for that.

She stood up and walked over to the buffet table.

Gina went to her friend and whispered something in her ear.

"Excuse me, dear." She smiled at Jason before leaving with her friend.

They both walked to the table where Elaine was picking out the food she'd eat.

"So, you're the one my husband was staring at." She crossed her hands beneath her breast.

"Jealous, much," Elaine smirked as she picked some spicy chicken into her plate.

Claire was visibly filled with jealousy from the way she looked at Elaine. Elaine had always been the one with the nicest shape and the prettiest face. Even though she was underdressed, she still looked hot. Her hips were wide and trousers brought out every angle. Elaine was heavily endowed.

"Are you just going to stand there and look at stare, or are you going to say something and leave my presence?" Elaine spat without having to look at any of them. She enjoyed what she was doing to Claire with her body but she didn't want it to exceed that.

"I wonder how many men have touched that smelly arse of yours. I bet you even use butt enlargers because trust me, my dear, this all looks fake." Claire said in bitterness.

Elaine ignored her. After picking up her food, she turned to leave.

"Excuse me." She smiled and opted to leave but was cornered.

"Don't you want to enjoy your evening with your husband, Claire? Or are you feeling threatened because I'm here? If not, run along now to your darling husband." She smirked.

Claire angrily grabbed a bowl of punch and littered its content on her face. Elaine gasped at the coldness of the liquid. That was it.

She pouted her spicy food on Claire's face and she screamed. The sauce had entered her eyes. Her cries attracted the security, Jason, and other people.

The security men, without waiting to hear both sides of the story, grabbed Elaine by the wrist and pulled her out of the hall.

"Don't you dare touch me!" She yelled. "She started it. You're not going to drag her out too?"

She felt they were being impartial just because she didn't fit in.

"Better keep quiet because we are calling the police." One of them said and moved a little bit away from them.

Elaine ran her fingers through her blonde hair in frustration. This was not what she was expecting.

She saw an angry-looking Jason charging toward her.

"You came here to cause trouble. Haven't you caused enough?" He yelled at her.

"You have no right to yell at me, Jason. Keep your voice and yell at your wife for being so jealous and bitter."

"Now, apologize." He placed one hand in his pocket.

"What makes you think I'll do that?" She scoffed.

"That's the only way you won't go to prison. You violated someone and there's a huge penalty for that unless you have some connections and knowing you, you have nobody."

Hearing those words from him broke her heart over and over again. This is someone who once proclaimed eternal love to her.

If her boss was to find out what happened, she would get fired. But if she apologizes, she would be free and everything will go back to normal.

What was she going to do?

Chapter 3 Lingering Feelings

The police had arrived, honoring the call of the security men. Elaine knew Jason had the power to save her. She had to make a decision quickly.

"I will never apologize to you or that wife of yours. I would rather rot in jail." She spoke with hatred. At that moment, she hated him with everything within and without her. He had just become her greatest enemy; he and his wife.

"Take her away," A smirk formed on his lips and she wished she could punch it off his face but her hands were already cuffed.

"You'll regret this!" She gritted as they pulled her away.

Jason smiled satisfactorily before going back to the hall. His wife was being taken care of by the medics.

"Where is that b***ch? I want to give her a piece of my mind." She seethed and winced from the pain as the medics treated her.

"Don't worry about it, I have already taken care of her." He replied. "You should have ignored her. Why did you go to her?"

"So now it's my fault?"

"Yes, dear. It's your fault. You left your table to confront someone you should have forgotten about after three years. You brought this upon yourself." He shook his head and walked away.

'Wait, don't tell me he still likes her. He never scolds or reprimands me.' She thought. 'Damn you, Elaine, damn you.' She hit her first angrily on the table beside her, scaring her doctor.

"You should take it easy, madam." The doctor said and continued her work.

Elaine's boss tried so hard to reach her but all proved futile.

After getting a call that she was at the police station, she had to leave the event.

"She is so getting fired tonight." She boiled with anger. "Just stick beside me, that was all she had to do. But she had to get in trouble and land herself in the police station. Classic Elaine."

She had the driver take her to the mentioned police station.

Elaine sat down in a cell, dejected. The young police officer watching over her felt pity for her. She looked sad and lonely.

"You could have just apologized." He said and she sighed.

"I couldn't, even if I wanted to. He made my life miserable and I'm going to torture him. I already took care of his wife, it's remaining him." She replied rather calmly.

"How did someone like you end up having issues with Jason Reed?" He asked.

"I don't want to talk about it. It's a long story." She replied.

"Where is that witch?!" Elaine's boss shouted at the top of her voice as she made her way to her cell. Elaine recognized her voice quickly and wished the ground would just open up and swallow her.

The police officer opened the cell, letting Mrs. Whitney John, her boss, walk in. She quickly stood up at the sight of her. She intertwined her fingers and waited for the worse punishment she could ever receive after her tragic divorce.

Whitney raised her hand to slap Elaine but stopped when she saw her body was a total mess. She put her hand down and looked away.

"You have a lot of explaining to do, young lady. By the way, you're fired. Let's go." She stormed out of the cell and Elaine followed suit. She didn't want to anger her boss more than she was already angry.

"Look at you, you're a mess. How could you let someone defeat you like this? This is shameful. Who did this?" She rained questions on her but Elaine dared not complain.

"The wife of Jason Reed." She replied.

"Oh, your ex-husband. How could you let your ex-husband's new wife defeat you like this? I'm not a fan of losers, you know."

They both entered the car.

"Defeat me? In her dreams. I tried to avoid her because trust me, I love my job, but the bi*ch wouldn't let me be."

"I love that bi*ch you put there. Go on."

"She threw the cold punch at me and I poured hot sauce on her face."

"That's my girl. That'd teach her not to mess with everyone that comes her way, especially you. If she tries that again, pull her hair off. She'll tremble when your name is being mentioned after that."

Elaine didn't know her boss was a core supporter of violence. She liked this side of her.

"About my job, please, I'm very sorry. I tried my best to avoid trouble and stick to your plan but Claire ruined it all." Elaine pleaded.

"It's fine. You're not so much of a loser after all. You can keep your job and get ready for a promotion, my dear."

Elaine felt elated. Her heart raced to the moon and back.

Euphoria!

"Thank you so much, ma'am. Thank you." Elaine would have knelt if they weren't in a car.

"It's fine. Whenever that sl*t comes your way with trouble, teach her a good lesson."

"I will, that I promise you, ma'am."

Elaine felt grateful. She had been given a second chance to prove herself.

She was sure going to teach her exes a lesson they would always remember. Their lives will be filled with regrets, especially Jason's. She already had a killer body, and that was enough for her knowing the kind of person he was.

****

Jason released his tie as he got back to his mansion. His wife was mad at him for yelling at her but he didn't give a f**k. She was wrong and whatever happened to her was her fault.

Ever since the first miscarriage, they hadn't been able to have a child and that bothered him.

Seeing Elaine again after three years awoke some beautiful memories. She was the best woman in the world but she couldn't have a child for him and that was his weakness. He thought he could handle it and maybe adopt a child but when Claire seduced him, he gave in. He wanted to try at being a father and it worked after their fourth sex.

He felt bad for cheating on his ex-wife but there was nothing he could do about it. Being a father was his utmost priority and it made him lose sight of what a wonderful person Elaine was.

'It's bygone, Jason. Focus on Claire and be responsible or else, you'll lose her too.' He reprimanded himself. He went to his mini bar and grabbed a drink and a time glass. He emptied some content of the bottle into his glass and sipped from it. It didn't satisfy him as much as he wanted, so he drank from the bottle instead.

His phone vibrated in his pocket and he groaned. He didn't want any disturbance.

He brought out the phone from his pocket and checked the caller. It was his best friend, Damon.

He pressed the answer button and placed the phone on his right ear.

"Woah, man! Your ex-wife be serving us those after-divorce vibes." He shouted. Jason had to pull the phone away from his ear for some seconds.

"What do you want me to do about that? Just like you said, she is my ex-wife." Jason said perfunctorily.

"Mahn, she's so hot. Did you see those wide hips? I'd kill for those." He licked his lips. Somehow, Jason felt annoyed.

"What do you want, Damon?"

"Permission. That's all I ask for. Permission to screw her. I'm going to put that hot @ss on my d**k and ride her till she screams my name."

"Damon!" Jason yelled.

"What? You two are no longer together, why can't I have her? It'll be fun to put her in 70 positions in seven minutes. Man, I can't wait to try out that six-nine stuff."

Jason rubbed his temple. His friend was actually very crazy. He has lost his mind.

"You really think Elaine would let you do that to her?" He chuckled.

"Of course. She didn't look slutty at the party, rather very decent but I'm sure there's a little bitchy person deep inside. I just have to find it."

"You're unbelievable, Damon. Alright, good luck with that."

"But seriously bro, don't you want to just drill deep into that heavenly embodiment?"

"Hell yeah!" He exclaimed. "I want to do so many bad things to that body of hers. Something within me wants to make her mine again. Her banging body is all I can think of right now."

"Race you to the top." Damon laughed.

"I'm already one step ahead of you, man."

"You're bad, bro. You spoke to her?"

"I did. Didn't exactly end well but uhm... I'll be shaking those legs sooner than you think." He said proudly.

"Don't brag too much."

Damon hung up. Jason continued drinking from his bottle. At that time, he couldn't deny the fact that he still loved her and wanted her back.

May the best man win.
