Elena clutched onto her flower bouquet, as she strolled down the aisle, with her protruding tummy.
It was a wedding the whole city was looking forward to, as the most famous model was getting married to the wealthiest man in the city.
Their wedding hall contained not less than a thousand guests, anticipating for the couple to be joined together in harmony.
Miss Robert, Elena's mum, handed her daughter over to the groom, with a smile on her face.
The two were the perfect match, as Elena didn't grow up with a father figure in the house. And Xavier lost both his parents at a very young age.
The two were inseparable, but the reason they waited four years before they got married remained a mystery to the public.
Xavier stared into Elena's eyes, not wanting to remove his face. He had waited too long to be with her, and he wanted to capture every moment with her as possible.
"Do you, Elena Claus, take Xavier Xavier to be your lawfully wedded husband? In sickness and in health, in riches and in poor till death do you part?" The priest threw the question at Elena.
"Yes, I do," she replied too quickly and slipped the ring into his fingers.
"Do you Xavier Zeus take Elena Claus to be your lawfully wedded wife, in sickness and in health? In riches and poverty till death do you part?" He asked Xavier the same question
"Yes, I do"
He responded, and couldn't even wait for the priest to seal the marriage with a kiss.
He grabbed her hand and pulled her closer, as he planted a long hot kiss on her lips.
She tried to free herself from him, but he was holding her too tightly.
"I love you so much, '' he whispered when he finally let go.
She blushed and looked down at her stomach before she rubbed her tummy.
It took the happy couple some time, but they finally realized that they were still in public, having their moment freely. Xavier couldn't even care less.
Xavier couldn't wait to take his bride home, as he walked her down the aisle and helped her get into the car. He drove the car back home, as he was trying his best to protect her and the baby that she was carrying.
They got home, and he opened the door of the car for her, treating her like a princess, as he carried her bridal style up the staircase. The two didn't even want to have an after-party despite their status in society.
"I've waited for this day for so long. It almost feels like I have been waiting forever" Xavier got on top of Elena, as he ran his middle finger on her bare skin.
"Me too" She raised her head to kiss him on the lips.
"Ouch!" She moaned in pain when his arms accidentally came in contact with her stomach.
"Sorry, does it hurt? Should I stop?" Xavier asked her, as he struggled to get up from the bed.
She suddenly pulled him back towards her. Looking deep into her blue eyes, he couldn't take his arms and eyes off her, as he forced his entire weight inside her.
Their moments were soon interrupted when she stopped him halfway through their romantic moment.
"Ahhh!!" She let out a huge scream, as she shut her eyes, the veins on her forehead popped out, and she clutched her stomach in pain.
"The baby" she cried out, and she pushed him away from her, with her hand firmly on his chest.
"It's coming!!!" She let out a loud cry.
Xavier's eyes popped open, as she sprang up from the bed and alerted the workers in the house.
They quickly rushed to get things in order. Xavier picked her up in his arms and ran down the staircase like a crazy person.
The car was already opened as he made her sit in front and drove straight to the hospital. He was sweating so badly, that it felt like his hands were slipping away from the steering wheel.
Xavier stood outside the labor room pacing back and forth.
He looked like his world was about to come to an end.
"How is she?" He rushed the first doctor who came out of the labor room
"Congratulations, you have a beautiful daughter," the doctor informed him.
Xavier folded his fist in excitement, as he tried his best to hold himself back from hugging the doctor.
He rushed into the room, to find his wife and baby bonding and he bit his lower lip in excitement
"Be careful" she advised, before handing the fragile girl into his arms.
He held her as though she was an egg. He looked at his wife, and back at his baby girl. His life was complete. He had everything in place and his family was complete. He kissed his wife on her forehead.
Their sweet moment was interrupted when he heard the door open, and his best friend Henry walked into the room.
"You are here!" Xavier was surprised, he was yet to inform anyone about the birth of his daughter.
"I told him" Elena was quick to clear his confusion.
Xavier wasn't ready to tell anyone about their baby just yet. But, Henry was his best friend after all, and he didn't want to question Elena's actions.
"Let me see '' Henry took the baby away from Xavier and kissed her on the forehead before he walked over to Elena.
His blood was boiling, but he refused to say anything. He didn't want to appear jealous even though he was.
"Xavier, don't just stand there. Come and take a look at our little angel" Elena's voice lightened up his mood, as he took a deep breath, and chipped into their conversation. His world was perfect again, until his baby....
Five years later.
Elena and Xavier began to notice some changes in their daughter, not only did she find it difficult to interact with her peers. She never spoke to anyone around her. She avoided eye contact a lot, and would always keep to herself.
They knew this was not normal, and they had to run some tests.
"She is going to be fine. Hannah will recover" Xavier tried to convince his wife to stop panicking.
"You are saying this because you're not the one attending the PTA meetings. You don't have to deal with the backlash from other parents, you don't know how I feel" Elena answered back.
"She only has Autism, she is not dying! Calm down" he tried to defend his daughter, and Elena snorted before she walked away from him.
Xavier couldn't understand why she was so paranoid over a small issue. He watched her leave the house, and he didn't waste time before he also left. There were only two people in this world who were able to talk Xavier back to his senses whenever he was angry.
The first was his wife, Elena who was not an option at that moment. And the second was his best friend Henry. He went over to Henry's house and felt no need to knock on the door before he walked into the house like, it was his.
"Henry!" He shouted at the top of his lungs, as he walked around the house.
He was about to turn around and leave when he got no response, but paused when he heard some groans coming from upstairs.
He was sure that Henry was with a woman. He scoffed at how his best friend never wanted to leave his playboy phase.
"Yes!!" He heard the lady's screams and his eyes widened in shock.
That voice sounded too familiar to belong to a stranger. His heart raced against his chest, as he felt a sharp pain like that of a piercing knife. He shook his head in disbelief and chose to believe that he was hearing wrongly.
But, when he heard her voice again. He had no choice but to run upstairs to Henry's room to confirm his doubt
"Elena!" He forcefully opened Henry's door, as they both tried to wrap the duvet around themselves to hide their shame.
"Elena, how could you?" He folded his fist, marching over to Henry. He dragged his naked friend out of bed and punched him right in the face.
"You couldn't do it with anyone else.? It just had to be my wife?" He threw his fist again on the right side of Henry's face.
"Stop it! Just stop it, Xavier!" Elena screamed when she had enough.
"Stop hurting him" she cried out, as she walked over to Henry, who was already lying on the floor.
"Elena you should be sorry" he scolded her, pointing his index finger at her, and restricting himself from hitting her.
"And why should I be?" Her words were like a dagger to his chest.
For the first time, in a long while his eyes clouded with tears as he began to feel less of a man.
"You found me with your best friend. And your first instinct was to throw punches at him. Are you mad?" She scolded him.
"Stop talking Elena " Henry tried to warn her.
But, she left him on the floor and walked up to her husband.
"I never loved you, Xavier, can't you see that? I have always been in love with Henry from the onset. All this is a sham" She raised her voice at him.
"Elena!" Henry tried to warn her again, but she snapped her neck in his direction.
"I've had enough Henry. This has been going on for five years already, I can't take it anymore. The whole thing is driving me crazy" Elena scolded him out of frustration.
"I don't love you, Xavier. I never have and I never will. I only dated you, because my career was going downhill. I was already having a secret affair with Henry, and so I told him. We planned everything, we planned for you to fall in love with me, and that's why I never wanted to marry you immediately. The marriage, the whole thing was a plan okay?" She looked him dead in the eyes and grabbed him by the collar before she ground her teeth.
"However, what I did not plan was having a baby with you. I regret having your abomination of a daughter " She cursed.
He pulled her hand away from his shirt and pushed her away.
He clenched his fist, with sweat gathering on his forehead. He wanted to hit her, but he was using whatever was left of his energy to hold himself back.
"You will be hearing from my lawyers. Prepare for the lawsuits'' he took off his wedding ring and threw it on the floor, before he gracefully walked out of the room.
A world that took him so many years to build just collapsed in front of his eyes within two minutes. He felt like the dumbest person in the world at that point.
"What have you done?" Henry suddenly received strength, as he could finally move.
He grabbed her by the elbow.
"What? He was not going to forgive me, so I thought it would be better for him to know the whole truth. Even if he didn't find out today, he will eventually find out someday" she spoke in a harsh tone.
"And you thought that was the best way to tell him? Do you think you would be able to win against him in court?" He raised an eyebrow at her.
"I don't care" She frowned, and threw her face away.
"We need to leave now" Henry turned to his wardrobe, as she began to pack his things.
"Why?" Her question drove him nuts.
"Because I am not ready to go bankrupt or worse, go to jail because of you. So you better start packing your bags before I do something that I'll regret later" he cautioned her, and she looked away before stomping out of the room.
Xavier's POV
I locked myself in my room, unable to take the pain I had just gone through. I didn't know how I was meant to react to the whole issue. It was driving me crazy and I refuse to let it get the best of me.
"Daddy!" I heard Hannah's voice from outside. She was knocking harshly on the door as she was trying her best to get me to open the door.
"Go away ,Hannah." I clenched my fist, as my face turned red.
"No Daddy. Daddy!!" She kept on calling out to me.
"Hannah, I said you should leave!!" I found myself yelling at her, even though it was against my will.
The moment of silence that accompanied my last scream almost drove me insane.
A thought just crossed my mind. I had begun to wonder if she was my daughter or not. I spent five years loving and nurturing this child, and what happens if she turns out not to be mine after all.
I could no longer hold myself back, and I needed to clear my doubt. I knew I had to take her to get a DNA test done tomorrow morning.
I could barely even sleep that night, and at 9 am sharp I took my daughter to the hospital to get the DNA conducted.
The journey to the hospital was as silent as a graveyard. She was still in shock at how I had spoken to her the previous day, and I had too much running through my mind already.
"You will have to wait at least a few days for the results to be available," the doctor informed me, and I frowned.
I was so mad that I lost control and smacked my hand on the table in between us.
"I do not want to wait for five days. I want the result now" My eyes turned red, and I could see the fear in the doctor's eyes as he drifted back from me
"I am sorry but there is nothing that I can do. You will please have to wait at least five days. I promise that the results will not be delayed" the doctor shivered, as he spoke.
"Fine, let's go Hannah " I turned to my daughter, but she was no longer by my side.
********
In the middle of the road, a little girl with ginger-colored hair was trying to cross the road when a speeding white car came just 6 inches away from her.
She blocked her ears as she screamed with her mouth wide open when she heard the car horn.
"Ahhh!" She shivered.
But, before the car could get to her, a tall, beautiful lady, with dark hair and brown eyes came, from nowhere and pushed her out of the way, risking her own life in the process.
The white car zoomed off without checking if the woman or the little girl was okay.
The lady fell on the floor in the process of saving the child, she got up as she dusted herself and the child.
The girl looked so terrified, but she didn't cry the way other kids would normally do. She was just frozen.
"You are fine. The car is gone now" The lady buried the girl's head in her blossoms and sympathized with her.
But, instead of hugging her back, the girl pushed her away
"Go away!" She yelled, and this shocked the woman to the core.
"I don't like hugs," the girl cried out.
"That's fine. I promise I won't hug you again, just tell me where your mum is so I can take you to her" The lady knelt before the girl and caressed her face.
"Mum, I...I don't know" the girl murmured, as she got closer to the woman.
"Hannah , why did you run off like that?" Xavier walked out of the hospital, yelling at her.
Hannah was so scared that she hid behind the lady.
"You don't have to shout at her like that" The lady was shocked at how rude Xavier could be.
"You can't tell me how to take care of my own daughter," Xavier warned her.
"It's obvious you weren't taking care of her at all. If you had your eyes on her, in the first place. I am sure she wouldn't have run off like that" The lady wasn't backing out either.
"It's not my fault she is stubborn" Be6 tried to defend himself.
"So, it's my fault now?" She asked him.
He arched his eyebrows, as he narrowed his face. He looked at her angrily before he eventually snatched Hannah away from her.
The lady couldn't do anything, after all, she was his daughter.
"What if she isn't his daughter?" She asked herself, but before she could make any move. They had already gotten into the car and zoomed off.
She looked at her watch before she walked into the hospital, more like she ran into the hospital.
"Please doctor," she went on her knees.
"I have told you. We cannot start the surgery on your mother until you make a good deposit" The doctor shook his head hoping, she would leave his office.
"I have five thousand dollars already. Please start something, I don't want her to die" she pleaded with the doctor.
"For a surgery that cost five hundred thousand dollars. I think you will have to deposit more than five thousand dollars for us to even touch her" The doctor brushed her away.
"I know it's not enough, but you can't let my mother die. Isn't it your job to save lives? Why then do you want to let my mum die?" She went to her knees crying her eyes out and begging the doctor to have mercy on her.
He looked at her, with pity stamped on his face, because there was nothing that he could do.
"Yes, it is my job to save lives and that is why I need to get paid for it. If I treat your mother without any payment, then I would have to do it for other people as well. And besides, there is nothing I can do. I am just an employee and I do not own the hospital " he made it clear for her. She didn't want to give up easily, so she wrapped her hands around his legs.
"Please just help me in any way you can" Her tears rolled down hotly on her cheeks
"It is bad enough that I am keeping her here without taking any payment." The doctor tried to shake her off, but she clung to him even more.
"Okay, fine. I think I can help you" he looked at her, and she got up from the floor wiping her tears and thanking him.
"There is this billionaire whose daughter needs a nanny. I am very sure if you can get the job, you will get good pay. And we can commence the surgery" he advised her, before he scribbled some words on a piece of paper before he handed it over to her.
