Chapter 1 Reunion

Chapter one: Reunion

Scarlett

My Mom once told me that there is no greater luxury than being held in the arms of a man you love as you danced with him. Surrendered by a crowd of strangers, you move your heels to the sound of music. You would laugh and breathe at the same time looking into each other's eyes and forget the world around you. But I guess not everyone's love story can be so romantic.

With one hand holding an empty wine glass, I stared at the happy couples enjoying their night on the dance floor. The smiles on their faces and the joy they felt as they moved their feets to the music, it all felt so empty to me. I couldn't bear looking at them.

"Scarlet!' I heard someone call my name from the side and I turned to see Olivia squeezing her way through a hoard of people and she was holding two glasses filled with more alcohol. After barely managing not to spill the drink on the ground, she stood right beside me and handed me one glass that contained alcohol.

The red liquid inside the glass was bubbling with excitement but unlike Olivia, I wasn't much of a drinking type especially around the people I had to work with in the morning. I noticed that Olivia was leaning back and taking a good look at my dress. She was dressed quite lavishly herself with an off shoulder blue dress and shiny silver heels and she looked as stunning as ever.

"You like your legs, don't you?" She asked with one of her eyebrows raised and a sarcastic smile on her face.

I was wearing a sparkling red dress with a thin high slit. Being a tall woman didn't have many advantages but being able to show off your smooth long legs was surely worth it. I could feel the wandering eyes of men landing on me ever so often and it felt good to know that I still got the looks that attract men even after marriage.

"Not really," I replied and also smiled as well.

Olivia was one of those few friends I could drop my fake facade in front of, there were two many things on my mind. And one of which I couldn't shake off no matter how hard I tried. It was the debt of twenty million credits and the reason why I had to drop out of the university to get a job. Perhaps, noticing the grimace on my face, Olivia poked me with her shoulder and I turned to look at her.

"Scarlet, you should at least try to enjoy the night." She said as she pointed at the other people around us and they all seemed to be having a good time.

"Or at least pretend to enjoy their company so that they will bring you fancy gifts on your birthday." She laughed and I couldn't help laughing with her, Olivia was known to be a cheery personality and bringing light to any situation. And sure enough, my mind had shifted away from the problems on my mind.

I looked around and saw other people getting drinks, dancing and enjoying the food and services. This was indeed the time to let down your guard and mingle with your co-workers for better office relations.

"By the way, I have a surprise for you." Olivia said, turning to look at the center stage.

All of a sudden, the light in the ballroom went dim and the only place illuminated enough to have a good look was the center stage.

"So, do you know who the new CEO is?" I asked Olivia.

We were both waiting for the announcement, it was the whole reason for this party. Whoever it was going to be would have a massive impact on the company and its market, even the media was covering the whole activities.

"Yes, but keep watching." She replied while resting her hand on my shoulder.

Today would be the day that will decide whether the shares for our company plummet or skyrocket. Well, I couldn't care less as long as I got my salary because I wouldn't want to work in a company that is running at a loss, risking unemployment.

Liam, the current CEO of the company was about to announce his retirement along with introducing his replacement, he had the mic in his hand and was looking around at the crowd with a smile.

"It has been a long time coming for this old man." Liam said, resting his hand over his chest.

"But it is time someone new takes this position from me. I have had the greatest day working for this company and now I would like to hand over its future to someone from the younger generation." He said as he moved away from the center of the stage and his eyes gazed at the other end of the stage, a young man with a tall stature, dressed in a blue and silver suit was walking towards him from the other side.

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome your new CEO of Crystal Finance Company Limited, George Williams!" He announced, clapping his hands. The whole place roared with excitement and applause, I could even hear whistling all around me.

"George Williams?" I murmured as I felt as if I had heard this name before.

"Do you know him?" Olivia asked but before I could answer, we were interrupted by his voice.

"Are you guys enjoying tonight?" He asked and once again the people roared in approval.

"Well, like Sir Liam just said, I am George Williams and I will be the one you guys can curse at when things go wrong." He said and like mindless drones, everyone laughed again but I couldn't understand what they found so funny. I would rather return to work than listen to some speech.

"Scarlet, I have something to tell you." Olivia said, grabbing me by my shoulder.

"Come to this side." She added.

We walked over to the other side of the ballroom, away from the others still listening to the speech. I could hear George rambling about something in the background but my interest lay completely in what Olivia had to say to me. She stopped at the very end of the room, everyone else was looking at the stage in front and we were the only ones in the back.

"I actually got to speak with George before coming here." Olivia said while her hand grabbed onto my arms from both sides.

"What did you talk about?" I asked as I was confused and didn't know where she was going with this. She looked at me in the and gave me a warm smile before replying.

"I recommend you to be his secretary, I need to talk to him and seal the deal." She shook my whole body with her hands, her excitement was quite visible.

I couldn't believe what I was hearing, me? His secretary? I just joined the company as a Receptionist not too long ago. If I were to jump that high up in position, what would the other employees think about me?

"I..I don't k-know what to say, this is too sudden." I muttered.

I wasn't ready to go from making sure everyone came to work to making appointments and bossing around the employees. If anything, it might make others more hostile towards me. I already had many problems at home, I didn't want to have problems at work too.

"Scarlet, Scarlet, you have a financial crisis along with a crippling debt that is piling up in interest." She said as she took a step back and looked me in the eyes again.

"I really think you should take this job, you need the money more than anyone else right now."

Hearing her voice my worries, I was somewhat convinced to take this opportunity. If I start thinking too much about what others might think of me, I might just end up carrying this debt forever. I needed to take care of myself rather than think about others. I heaved a sigh and gulped down my fears.

"Alright, I will take the offer." I turned my attention back on the stage, it seemed like George's speech had ended. I needed to find him and seal the deal before he changed his mind or someone else approached him about it.

"Thanks Olivia, you helped me to get this job and now you are helping me with one hell of a promotion." I smiled but this time I felt it.

"Don't mention it, now go find him." She cheered and I could feel her happiness through her smile.

I didn't know what good deed I have done in the past to deserve a friend like Olivia, she was definitely a godsend. I moved through the crowd trying to find George. Everyone had started to move around frantically after the speech, perhaps there were many who wanted to gain the favor of the new CEO. I couldn't blame them, I was one of them as well.

I looked around for him everywhere but it wasn't me who found him. I felt a light tap on my shoulder from behind, turning to look who it was, I was surprised to find George right behind me. It appears he was looking for me as well.

"Scarlet Hunt, right?" He asked and I was surprised he knew my maiden name already. But having a closer look at him, I realized something. I knew who he was, we went to the same highschool and I even remember having a crush on him back then.

"George?" I murmured and he smiled.

"What? You already forgot about me?" He shrugged but had a smile on his face, so I knew he wasn't angry.

"Oh, I am sorry. I didn't realize this was gonna be a highschool reunion." I said and laughed nervously, my palms were already sweating from nervousness.

I had already messed up, what if he didn't like me because I couldn't recognize him? Earlier on the stage, I couldn't make out his facial expression clearly and while he appeared a lot like he did at highschool, it was still quite hard to recognize him from a distance.

"Well, I didn't recognize you either, honestly but when Olivia mentioned your name, I thought I had heard that name before.'' His response was somewhat relieving. It didn't seem like he was offended by it but I honestly didn't expect him to be here, much less expect him to be the CEO of a company. If I could remember correctly, he wasn't one to excel in academics, rather his interests laid in athletics. I wonder what changed?

"To be honest, I didn't expect to see you either. I thought you wanted to join a national sports team." My head was already spinning from anxiety and my breaths were growing faster.

I took a small sip from the glass of alcohol I was holding to keep myself together. It tasted funny somehow but it should help me to keep my calm in a minute. George scratched the back of his head and looked upwards for a second before turning back to look at me.

"Life is not as straightforward as it seemed when I was a teenager and sports doesn't make money for you when you are mediocre." He replied while having a weak smile on his face.

"Well, at least you are now the CEO of a billion credit company." I tried to laugh it off but failed miserably because it only came out as nervousness. I looked up at him again, he had a businessman-like attribute on him. With his trimmed rough beard along with the blue and silver suit he was wearing gave him a distinctive charm. His shoulders were broad, tightly packing his muscles inside of his clothes. When I realized I was staring at him blankly, I shook my head and brought myself back to reality.

"I am sorry, I was....hmmm, thinking." I couldn't come out with any good excuse. I haven't even talked about work yet and I was already showcasing to him my forgetfulness. I am sure getting the job now wouldn't be any easy.

"Are you okay Scarlet?" He asked, resting his hand on my shoulder.

"Yes, I am really sorry. I was..." I heaved a sigh and strengthened my resolve. I need to be confident.

"I was nervous. I believe Olivia, the general Manager had recommended me for the position of your secretary." He looked relieved as he leaned back, withdrawing his hand. All I needed to focus on for now was getting this job, we would have enough time to talk about our past and catching up later once we were done with it.

"Yes, I have spoken with Olivia. Honestly, I didn't expect that the Scarlet she was talking about was some I knew." I didn't know how to respond to him, so I simply took a nervous sip from the glass again.

"Do you think you can handle the job? Be honest." He asked.

To be honest, the answer was quite simple in my head, even if I wasn't ready, I didn't have a choice. The weight of this massive loan was on my head and I wanted to get rid of it, I had to do whatever it takes for me to pay it off, even taking a job that might be too much for me.

"I don't really know, all I can say is that I will give it my best." I replied as I couldn't lie, he deserved to know who he was going to have by his side all the time. Even if I said yes, the truth will be revealed through my performance. So, I would rather have him know the truth and try convincing him to give me the job than lie and silently suffer through work that I wasn't qualified for.

"I am sorry, I know I am not qualified but I assure you I would give it my hundred percent if you decide to give me the job." There it was, I have laid it all out and now everything depends on how he felt about my pitch. He stared at me for a second with a contemplating look, I wasn't sure of what he was looking at but I had crossed my fingers that he would find my wedding ring.

"What do you think about my shoes?" He asked and I was dumbfounded.

How was it relevant to anything we have just talked about? Still, I took a quick look at his shoes and tried to form an opinion on them. Surprisingly, he had decided to wear purple shoes to go with his suit. The colour totally contradicts themselves and on top of his shoes, it has small yellow dots on them.

"Theyyy, are hideous." I replied. I wasn't sure of what to say, so the first thought that formed in my mind was the only one I went with. I looked up and he had a smirk on his face. Did I answer it correctly? Was it a trick question? I was already dying from anxiety.

"I have asked a lot of people the same question today but you are the only one with the balls to say it to my face." Hearing his reply gave me relief.

"I want someone who can go against what I do or say, not someone who only knows how to nod their heads when I ask them something. Scarlet, congrats you got the job." He held his hand right in front of me, for a moment I couldn't believe I managed to do it. l blinked my eyes in disbelief before slowly reaching for his hand and shaking it. I couldn't help but smile like an idiot

"Oh my goodness, I was nervous." I laughed.

"Oh yeah, I could see that." He laughed with me.

When I looked at his smile, I felt at ease. I still couldn't believe George was going to be the CEO of this company. The last memory I had with him was in a game of basketball at our school. Once again I found myself staring at him, he had turned into the kind of man any woman would desire. A stable job, a muscular body along with an extremely likeable personality.

"Scarlet!" I heard him call my name, I was too busy thinking about him.

"Oh, I am sorry." I muttered. I could feel my head getting lighter and my feet were wobbly.

"Are you okay? Maybe I should get you a seat." He said putting his hands over my shoulder and holding me still. I don't know what was happening, all of a sudden, my mind was getting hazy. It felt as if I was hungover even without drinking too much at all. I needed to lay down, I could barely stand still.

"Is there a place where I can lay down?" I asked him as I was having the urge to throw up.

"Yes, don't worry. There is room for every VIP in this hotel, I will take you to mine." He replied as he helped me walk through the subsiding crowd.

My blood was pumping unusually and I could even feel my heart beating outside my body. My temperature seemed to be rising and I looked at the glass of wine in my hand. It tasted weird before, what was happening. I saw Olivia rush to me from the edge of my eyes, she held me from the other side helping George carry me outside the ballroom.

"What happened? Are you okay Scarlet?" She asked hastily and I couldn't answer because my mind was in too much of a mess.

"Shit!" She cursed under her breath and I felt her taking my purse from my other hand.

"Wh-what a-are you doing?" I managed to ask. I had to instantly cover up my mouth as I felt the urge to throw up again.

"It is your phone, it's vibrating." I saw her look at the screen of my phone and her face instantly dropped.

"Ah! damn it, it is your husband, Steven. Probably drunk and stuck somewhere." She replied.

There were many times when Olivia helped me pick up my alcoholic husband from time to time but today was probably the worst of timing.

"Do you want me to pick him up?" She asked and I simply nodded not wanting to throw up again. She helped George take me to the elevator before heading out to pick up Steven and drop him at home.

"Does this happen often?" George asked me as we stepped outside the elevator and walked through the hallway.

I wasn't sure of what to tell him, I didn't want to reveal about my alcoholic husband or the fact that I had Olivia help us with the situation quite a few times. Sometimes, people suspected that Olivia and Steven had something going on but I knew there was nothing in between them. If anything, Olivia was even harsher on Steven than me.

"Yes," that was the only reply I could say to him.

We moved in one of the rooms as George opened its door. Inside it smelled of lavenders and it helped me hold back my urge to throw up. He was helping me to the bed but I didn't even think I could make it to the bed before puking out my lunch.

Chapter three: Tempting

Scarlett

"Yes," that was the only reply I could say to him.

We moved in one of the rooms as George opened its door. Inside it smelled of lavenders and it helped me hold back my urge to throw up. He was helping me to the bed but I didn't even think I could make it to the bed before puking out my lunch.

"I th-think I should go to the restroom first," I said, trying to hold myself on my feet.

"Sure." He replied.

I entered the restroom alone because I didn't want to show my boss my features just after getting hired. I knew it was coming and so it did, I puked out whatever it was that was in my stomach. I could feel the back of my throat burning with bile.

Thankfully, I found a bottle of mouthwash laying on one of the shelves. As I gargle my mouth with it, I looked around the bathroom and it had beautiful matte black tiles with a golden lining forming a square around the edges. Even the toilet seat was made from what appeared to either be gold or golden plating.

It angered me seeing how ridiculously luxurious the restroom was while I was having difficulties financially and some people were taking a leak in a golden toilet. Even when I came out of the restroom, I had a visible frown on my face. The dizziness inside my head was almost gone but my legs were still unsturdy. George grabbed me by the side as I was almost about to fall over.

"Maybe you should get your heels off, you are tall as it is. So, you don't need them." George said, pulling me back up on my feet.

I let the heels fall off my feet, after which George helped me to bed. As soon as my head touched the soft pillow and my body laid on that comfortable mattress, I felt a surge of relief and warmth inside my heart. George moved around and sat down on the other side of the.

"Do you want me to get a doctor?" He asked and I simply shook my head in denial.

He slowly reached for my hand and held it firmly. I looked at his face in the dark with the only light coming through the balcony, it reminded me of the last time Steven and I shared the same bed at night. It was so long ago and I could barely remember what it felt like but looking at George at this moment, I could relive that moment again. I saw his expression change for a moment, there was concern in his face.

"Scarlet, you are crying. Are you sure I shouldn't call the doctor?" George asked, I wasn't sure what he was talking about until I touched my face. Tears were flowing down my face and I had not even realized it and I didn't mean to show George his part of me but it was already too late.

"It is nothing." I said, getting up and sitting down on the bed. I turned to him but I couldn't help but give him a weak smile and the next moment I burst into tears that I was holding back trying to hide under a fake facade.

"I am sorry, I am not okay!" I screamed out the top of my voice but I didn't mean to. I was suddenly afraid about how he would react but all he did was lean my head over his chest. I could feel his warmth and listen to the sound of his heartbeat as his arms wrapped around my body.

"It is fine, relax Scarlet. I know life is harder than what we believe." He said and I looked up at him and he planted a brief kiss on my forehead.

"So tell me all about it, I am here to listen."

I felt as if someone tugged at my heart. Grabbing his clothes tightly, I buried my face in his chest and let all my tears flow, crying as much as I needed to. When I finally started to feel a bit lighter, I pulled away and sat back besides him.

"I am sorry, I shouldn't have." I said, wiping the tears on my face.

"It is alright, now tell me what has been bothering you." He asked and I wasn't sure where to start.

I was still resistant about telling him everything but as he held my hand once again, I felt a strange sense of relief. He was letting me unload my baggage, if I didn't let it all out, I might just end up betraying his concern for me.

"It is my husband, Steven. He got into a property scam, I rested my other hand on my chest and I could feel my fastened heartbeat.

"We lost a lot of money and now we are in a debt of ten million dollars credits." He stayed silent as he listened to my story and then I continued. He placed his hands over my shoulder and it felt like assurance or at least acknowledgment.

"Continue," he said.

I licked my dry lips and looked straight into his eyes, our faces were really close to each other and as the thought of the two of us being completely alone in this room hit my mind. I felt a strange tingling in my body, I gulped down the saliva that had formed inside my mouth and continued with my story.

"He comes late every night drunk and I am the only one trying to get us out of this situation we are in." I said as I felt myself leaning towards him.

I felt his hand on my legs, he slowly moved it inward and he squeezed my thigh. We were both looking into each other's eyes and I couldn't care anymore because I wanted him to myself tonight. Licking my lips one last time, I closed my eyes leaning forward but as his lips hit mine, I fell down and there he was on top of me. The light from the moon illuminated his body and as I pulled my legs towards him, I heard the slit of the dress tear apart but I couldn't care less as I ran my fingers over his suit getting a feel of his muscular body.

He leaned over to me once again and our lips locked with each other. He forced his tongue inside my mouth, I couldn't fight back because at that moment I didn't want to, I let it all happen. Our hands ran on each other as our tongue fought for dominance and I could feel his strength over me. The force of his muscles pushing down on me and the weight of his body brushing against me made my mind as hazy as it could be and I couldn't think straight at all.

"Scarlet," he said, pulling away from the kiss.

"You are not the only one who had a crush on someone." He said and I didn't know what he meant by saying that but before I could think about anything else, he kissed me again.

At this time, I couldn't wait either, I pulled his suit off his body and I felt him undo the zip on the back of my dress. He leaned back for a moment and while I struggled to undo his buttons, he placed his hand under me and raised my body and then pulled my dress above my shoulder.

I was surprised and shocked how easily he managed to hold the weight of my body but he didn't stop there to give me time to think. He reached for the hook and quickly undid my bra while his other hand slipped inside my panties.

"Hmmmmm," I moaned as I was panting to catch a breath but I didn't have time between any of this.

After stripping me completely naked, he laid me under him and I watched him on top of me. I felt longing towards him and I wanted to feel his warmth and let our sweat and love juices mix together. I could hardly believe I was thinking like this and much less believe what was happening but it was too late for me to turn back and I knew it.

I reached his chest to undo his buttons, his broad shoulders and the muscles on him, all of it was fascinating and my heart was pounding just by touching them lightly. For a moment, I thought about how it would feel for him to be on top of my body pressing on me with his massive body.

As I was done removing his shirt, he quickly undid his trousers himself and then came his shorts. I was surprised when he took them off without hesitation but that wasn't enough to express what I felt when I saw what he was hiding. His manhood was swinging in front of my eyes and his massive jewels just behind it. I wasn't even sure if I was doing this.

Will I even be able to fit it all inside me? Scarlet, are you sure you can do this? You are a married woman, Scarlet! All these thoughts ran inside my mind but I couldn't betray the longing I felt at that moment, even if it meant betraying my husband.

George placed one of his hands behind my neck while the other hand wrapped around my hips from behind my body and his fingers sinking deep into my flesh. I let out a small sigh as I felt his touch directly on my skin. The tingling sensation in my stomach continued to grow as we once again began to kiss. I fell back, inviting him onto me and I ran my hands on his broad shoulder and then slid them down towards his groin. He pulled back from the kiss and sunk his teeth lightly onto my neck as I caressed his manhood. I raised my head as I felt the sensation far beyond my understanding and I didn't know that just a simple touch could be this tempting.
