The Betrayed Luna's Vow Of Vengeance

Author: : Jun Shangye
Genre: Werewolf
For five years, I poured my soul into ruling the Black Moon Pack alongside my fated mate, Alpha Ryker. But at our most sacred gathering, he publicly pulled his rogue ex-girlfriend, Faye, into his arms. "Faye is under my protection," he declared to the entire pack, using his crushing Alpha Command to force me, his Luna, to my knees. He didn't care that I had taken a silver blade for him, or that Faye was a traitor whose past defection had permanently crippled three of our warriors. He stripped me of my dignity, ordered me to accept his new partner, and left me alone in our marital suite. That night, my Mating Mark erupted into a searing, white-hot agony that made me vomit blood and pass out. I thought I was simply dying of a broken heart, until I remembered the forbidden lore of the "Fidelity Curse." The curse ensured that if one mate was unfaithful, every moment of their physical pleasure would be transmitted through the bond as pure, agonizing torture to the betrayed mate. I wasn't just heartbroken. My body was being forced to physiologically experience my husband's affair. The final, near-fatal wave of pain at dawn wasn't random-it was the exact moment they conceived a child. When Ryker walked in the next morning, smelling of her perfume, and proudly announced Faye was pregnant, he expected me to finally break and submit. Instead, I looked at the father of another woman's child and gave him a chilling smile. "I, Selene Thorne of the Winter Pack, have heard your declaration. Now get out of my sight. The war has begun."

Chapter 1

Selene Thorne POV:

The silvery light of the full moon spilled across the sacred grounds of the Black Moon Pack. My moon-white silk gown whispered around my ankles as I stepped gracefully from the carriage, the evening breeze a soft caress against my skin.

My maid, Ruby Corvus, fussed with the hem, her warm brown eyes shining with admiration. "Luna, you look like the Goddess herself tonight."

A small smile touched my lips. I glanced across the clearing, taking in the scene. The Full Moon Gathering was in full swing. Bonfires crackled, sending sparks dancing into the night sky. The air was thick with the scent of roasted meats, pine from the surrounding forest, and the joyful energy of my pack. Five years I had poured my soul into this peace, this stability. It was a responsibility I'd carried since birth, as the heir to the Winter Pack, and one I had embraced as the Luna of Black Moon.

As I began to walk, pack members bowed their heads in respect. "Luna Selene."

I inclined my head to each of them, my smile genuine. "It is good to see you, Elara. Is your mother's cough any better?" I paused to ruffle the hair of a young pup. "You're growing so fast, Leo."

This was my duty. My joy.

But my inner wolf, Kara, was growing restless. *He should be here,* she grumbled in my mind, her voice a low growl of impatience. *The Alpha always greets his Luna.*

*Patience, Kara,* I soothed, though a sliver of unease pricked at my own heart. *Ryker is likely busy with the Elders.*

I moved through the throng of dancing bodies, my eyes scanning for my mate, my Alpha. My gaze settled on the raised platform at the center of the clearing, the seat of power, where he should have been waiting.

Then, a gust of wind blew in from the direction of the platform, carrying a scent that made my steps falter.

The smile on my face froze, feeling like a fragile mask of ice.

I smelled him. The familiar, possessive scent of my husband, Ryker. It was the scent of a winter storm raging through a pine forest, a scent that had always meant safety, home, and passion.

But it was tainted. Twisted.

Wrapped around his powerful scent was another, a sickly sweet and cloying aroma of jasmine.

Kara let out a furious roar in my mind, a sound of pure, animalistic rage. *That is not your scent on him!*

The breath hitched in my throat. I knew that scent. Jasmine. Faye. Ryker's ex-girlfriend, a rogue she-wolf who should have been a ghost, a memory buried five years in the past.

My heart didn't just sink; it plummeted into a cold, dark abyss, and ice flooded my veins.

I forced my head up, my gaze cutting through the celebrating crowd, locking onto the shadows at the edge of the Alpha's platform.

And I saw him.

I saw Ryker's broad, powerful back. He was half-turned away, his body shielding a smaller figure from view. A figure with a mane of fiery auburn curls.

Faye.

She was nestled against his chest, her head resting in the hollow of his shoulder. His arm was wrapped protectively around her, a gesture of intimacy and possession that was meant for me and me alone.

I saw a few of the pack's senior members nearby. They saw it too. Their gazes flickered towards the couple, then quickly, guiltily, away, pretending to be engrossed in conversations that had died on their lips.

It felt like a bolt of lightning had struck me, the world dissolving into a deafening roar in my ears. At the base of my neck, my Mating Mark-the sacred bite that bound my soul to his-began to burn with a sharp, angry sting.

Sight, scent, and the sacred Mate Bond all screamed the same, soul-shattering word at me: Betrayal.

My fingers curled into fists, my nails digging so deeply into my palms that I felt the sting of breaking skin. The pain was a welcome anchor in the swirling chaos of my mind.

Ruby appeared at my side, her face etched with concern. "Luna, are you alright? You're pale."

I drew a shaky breath, the mixed scent of my husband and his lover making my stomach churn with nausea. I forced my fist to uncurl. I smoothed the front of my gown, my movements a little too stiff. I pasted the serene, unshakable smile back onto my face.

*Tear her apart!* Kara shrieked, clawing at the inside of my mind. *He is ours! MINE!*

*Not yet,* I told her, my internal voice a shard of ice. *We are the Luna. We do not crumble.*

I lifted my chin, my amethyst eyes hardening. I took a step towards the platform, towards the public display of my humiliation. Each step felt like I was walking on shattered glass, but my stride was steady, my back ramrod straight.

I ignored Ruby's worried gasp, my eyes fixed on the man who was my world and the woman who was destroying it. I took another step, and then another, my voice calm and clear as it cut through the music, a question directed at my Alpha, but for all the pack to hear.

"Ryker, won't you introduce your guest?"

Chapter 2

Selene Thorne POV:

My voice wasn't loud, but it carried the innate authority of a Luna. The cheerful music sputtered and died. The chatter and laughter faded into a shocked, suffocating silence. Every head in the clearing turned, their eyes following my question to the Alpha's platform.

Ryker's body went rigid. He turned slowly, and when his stormy grey eyes met mine, I saw no remorse. No guilt. Only the raw, cold anger of being caught.

Faye, true to form, played the part of a startled doe. She flinched away from his chest, scurrying to hide behind his massive frame, peering at me with wide, tear-filled green eyes.

"Selene, this is not the place," Ryker said, his voice a low growl. It wasn't a request; it was a command.

Whispers erupted through the crowd like wildfire.

"Is that... Faye? I thought she was banished."

"By the Goddess, she's with the Alpha..."

"What about the Luna?"

I ignored them all. I ignored my mate's command. My gaze remained locked on his. "As the Luna of this pack, it is my duty to know every guest in our territory," I said, my tone deliberately formal, every word crisp and clear. This wasn't a wife confronting her husband; this was a queen addressing a breach in protocol. "So I ask again, who is she?"

*He dares to command us? He who reeks of that whore!* Kara snarled, her fury a burning inferno in my soul.

Ryker's jaw tightened, his anger growing at my public defiance. He was the Alpha. He was not used to being challenged.

From behind him, Faye gave a little tug on his sleeve. "Ryker, maybe I should go..." she whispered, her voice trembling pitifully. "I don't want to cause trouble for you and the Luna."

Her words, seemingly selfless, were like gasoline on a fire. They painted her as the victim, me as the aggressor. I watched as the hard lines of Ryker's face softened instantly. He turned his head slightly, his expression gentling as he looked down at her. He gave her hand a reassuring pat.

Then, he turned back to me and did something that made the entire pack gasp as one.

He took a deliberate step forward, planting himself firmly in front of Faye, completely shielding her from my sight with his own body.

The message was brutally, undeniably clear.

He chose her.

His stormy eyes blazed with a silent warning, and I felt it a split second before it hit me-a crushing wave of his Alpha's Command. It wasn't a spoken order, but a pure, dominating force of will, designed to force submission, to make me bow my head and shut my mouth.

A wave of dizziness washed over me. It felt like the air was being squeezed from my lungs, but the suffocation wasn't from his power. It was from the sheer, soul-crushing agony of the act itself. He was using his Alpha power on me, his fated mate, for another she-wolf.

The sting on my Mating Mark exploded into a searing, white-hot burn, as if a branding iron was being pressed into my flesh.

My knees buckled. I stumbled, catching myself just before I fell, my pride the only thing keeping me upright. I straightened my spine, refusing to show him weakness.

Ryker's voice was as cold and hard as granite as it boomed across the silent clearing. "Faye is under my protection. That is all anyone needs to know."

It was his final answer. His public declaration.

A wave of shocked murmurs rippled through our people before being silenced by a single, sweeping glare from their Alpha.

I stared at him, at the wolf I had loved and fought for, the mate I had devoted my life to. My heart felt like it was being clenched in a giant, invisible fist, squeezing until I couldn't breathe, couldn't think. Five years of marriage. Five years of building this pack at his side. All of it had just been reduced to a humiliating joke in front of everyone we led.

Kara's rage dissolved into a pained, heartbroken howl. *He chose her. The bond... it burns!*

The blood drained from my face, but as the pain sharpened, so did my resolve. My eyes became as cold and clear as a frozen lake.

This wasn't an ending. This was the beginning of a war.

Faye, emboldened by his protection, peeked out from behind Ryker's shoulder. A faint, triumphant smirk played on her lips for a split second, a look meant only for me to see.

And in that moment, my heartbreak began to crystallize into something harder, colder, and far more dangerous. I met Faye's gaze and gave a slow, deliberate nod, a silent promise of retribution.

Chapter 3

Selene Thorne POV:

The triumphant smirk on Faye's face faltered as she saw the look in my eyes. A flicker of fear replaced her victory, and she instinctively shrank back behind Ryker's protective bulk.

I tore my gaze away from them, turning my attention to the silent, watchful pack. My chest was a hollow cavern of pain, but I took a deep, steadying breath. When I spoke, my voice was miraculously calm, imbued with the quiet authority they had come to expect from their Luna.

"The Full Moon Gathering is a sacred celebration," I began, my voice carrying to every corner of the clearing. "A time for unity and joy."

My gaze swept over them, a mix of Luna's command and a mother's gentle concern. "But it seems a somber mood has fallen upon us."

Seeing me shift the focus, Faye must have thought I was retreating. She stepped out from behind Ryker, dabbing at her dry eyes with the back of her hand. "Luna, I am so sorry," she said, her voice a fragile, trembling thing. "It's all my fault. I'll leave right now."

She put on a masterful performance of a heartbroken, guilt-ridden woman. I could see it working; some of the younger, more impressionable wolves were already looking at me with disapproval, as if I were the one being cruel.

Ryker's brow furrowed, his glare accusing me of frightening his precious, delicate flower.

I looked at Faye, at her crocodile tears and quivering lip, and a humorless, icy smile touched my own lips.

*The little bitch is acting,* Kara snarled in my mind. *Let me rip her throat out!*

*No. We do it my way,* I replied, and took a single, deliberate step forward.

I didn't release an ounce of aggression. Instead, I let my true power unfurl. It wasn't the brute force of an Alpha's command, but something older, deeper. It was the innate, unshakeable authority that flowed through the royal bloodline of the Winter Pack, an aura of command that didn't need to shout to be obeyed.

The very air grew heavy. The pack members held their breath.

Faye's pathetic, fake sobs caught in her throat. The color drained from her face, leaving her looking pale and pinched.

My amethyst eyes locked onto hers, and my voice became as sharp as a shard of ice. "You will speak when spoken to."

It was not a request. It was an order from her Luna. Faye flinched as if struck and clamped her mouth shut.

I then raised my voice, addressing the entire pack. "The celebration is over. Everyone is to return to their homes. Now."

This was my right. The management of pack gatherings, the welfare of our people-that was the Luna's domain.

The pack members exchanged uncertain glances, but no one dared to disobey a direct order from me. They began to quietly pack up their belongings, the festive mood completely extinguished.

Ryker's face darkened with fury. "Selene! You are overstepping!"

I met his rage with a cool, unblinking stare. "Am I? As Luna, ensuring the pack's morale is my responsibility. And your public display has shattered it. I am merely doing my duty."

My words were a shield of logic and law that he couldn't break. He knew I was right. The pack's own laws gave the Luna the authority to disperse a gathering if she deemed it was no longer beneficial to the pack's spirit. He was left speechless, his fists clenching at his sides.

Faye, seeing her moment of triumph being dismantled, opened her mouth to protest.

I shot her a look so cold, so utterly devoid of warmth, that the words died on her lips. She looked like I had physically choked her.

The music was gone. The bonfires were being doused. The crowd melted away into the darkness of the forest, leaving the three of us standing in the wreckage of what was supposed to be a joyous night.

I had proven a point. He may have chosen her, but I was still the Luna. I was still the one in charge. I had seized control of the narrative, ripped the stage right out from under Faye's feet.

In the now empty, silent clearing, I gave Ryker one last look. It was a look filled with five years of love curdling into bitter disappointment. Then, without another word, I turned my back on him and walked away, my head held high.

As I walked away, her back straight and proud, Ryker's furious voice echoed in the empty clearing, "This isn't over, Selene!"

I didn't turn back, my only reply was a thought to my inner wolf, *No, Ryker. It has just begun.*
