The Betrayed Groom's Vengeance

Author: : Kattie Eaton
Genre: Romance
Hollywood's A-list actor, Alex Miller, stood at the altar, ready to marry studio executive Jessica Hayes, convinced it would be the perfect day. But his bride made a grand entrance – not in white, but in a flashy sports car with pretty-boy influencer Ryan Vance, live-streaming her public ditching as "lesson one" in his "cure" for possessiveness. That public humiliation was merely the overture. For months, Jessica orchestrated Alex's systematic dismantling: forcing him to yield coveted roles to Ryan, literally cleaning Ryan's shoes at awards shows, and issuing televised apologies for fabricated incidents. The crescendo hit when Ryan, with Jessica's dark approval, brutally slashed Alex's face and set him ablaze in a studio, as Jessica rescued Ryan and left Alex to burn. Lying in agonizing pain, abandoned to the flames, Alex comprehended the chilling truth: this wasn't love, or even a lesson. It was a calculated, sadistic demolition, designed to break him. The humiliation transformed into an icy, unshakable resolve. What they didn't foresee was Alex's quiet preparation. Already armed with irrefutable hidden evidence, he began a strategic withdrawal, cutting all ties while securing his future. Now, with a new fiancée and a life far from Hollywood's toxicity, Alex is ready to reveal his own "final cut" – a masterpiece of retribution.

Introduction

Chapter 1

The music swelled, a hopeful sound for a perfect day, but Alex Miller felt a knot in his stomach. Today was his wedding day, the day he married Jessica Hayes, the studio executive he loved, maybe too much. Jessica always said his love was "too much," too possessive. This whole wedding, she'd said, was part of showing him how to love "right."

He stood at the altar, the California sun warm on his face, but his hands were cold. The guests, a sea of Hollywood power players, murmured, waiting. Jessica was late. Very late.

Then, a different car pulled up, not the vintage Rolls-Royce they'd planned for her. It was Ryan Vance's flashy sports car. Ryan, the pretty-boy influencer Jessica had taken a sudden interest in, the one she called her "old flame," the one she was championing.

Jessica stepped out, radiant in her wedding dress, but she wasn't walking towards the altar. She was walking towards Ryan. Ryan smirked, opened the passenger door for her.

A phone buzzed in the best man's pocket. He looked at it, then at Alex, his face pale. He mouthed, "It's from Jessica's assistant."

Alex felt a cold dread spread through him.

Jessica didn't even look at Alex. She got into Ryan's car, her white dress bunching around her. Ryan gunned the engine, and they sped off, leaving a cloud of dust and stunned silence.

A moment later, a notification hit everyone's phone. A live stream. Jessica, laughing, her arm around Ryan, on a private jet.

"Surprise!" she chirped into the camera, Ryan grinning beside her. "Change of plans, darlings! Alex needs to learn that love isn't about caging someone. This is lesson one in his 'cure.'Ryan and I are off to Aspen! Think of it as our pre-honeymoon, and Alex's time to reflect."

The feed cut.

Humiliation burned through Alex, hot and sharp. His wedding, a public spectacle designed to "cure" him. The guests were already whispering, phones out, recording his reaction. His carefully constructed world was shattered. This wasn't love, this was a power play, a cruel, public destruction.

His parents, usually stoic figures from the East Coast, looked horrified. His mother started towards him, but he held up a hand. He had to get through this.

He turned to the shocked officiant.

"Well," Alex said, his voice surprisingly steady, "it seems there won't be a wedding today."

He looked out at the crowd, at the cameras still pointed his way.

"Thank you all for coming. Enjoy the champagne. It's already paid for."

He walked away from the altar, alone, the hopeful music now a mocking soundtrack to his ruin. The "Abandoned Pet" strategy, Jessica had once jokingly called her plan to make him less jealous. It wasn't a joke anymore.

Chapter 2

Weeks later, Jessica returned from Aspen, tanned and glowing, Ryan always a step behind her like a shadow. She found Alex in their shared Hollywood Hills home, quiet, seemingly subdued.

"See, Alex?" she said, her voice bright, like she was praising a dog for a trick. "A little space, a little perspective. You're not even asking where I've been or who I've been with. You're learning."

Alex said nothing. He was learning, but not what she thought.

The first test of his "tameness" came quickly. A script landed on his table, a gritty drama, the kind of role that screamed Oscar. He'd wanted it badly.

"Darling," Jessica said, draping herself over his chair. "I was thinking, this role is perfect for Ryan. He needs a breakout. You're already established."

Alex looked at the script, then at her. "Okay."

"And you'll coach him, won't you? Show him the ropes."

"Of course," Alex agreed, his voice flat. He spent weeks with Ryan, patiently explaining nuances Ryan was too arrogant or too dull to grasp.

At the Golden Globes, Jessica insisted that Alex come. "As my date," she'd said, but Ryan was there, preening in a suit Alex recognized as one he'd been measured for.

During a commercial break, Ryan, with Jessica smiling encouragement, snapped his fingers at Alex.

"Alex, old man, be a sport and get me a scotch, will you? And my shoes," Ryan said, sticking out a foot. "They got some scuff on the red carpet. Clean it up."

The cameras weren't rolling, but everyone at their table saw. Jessica watched Alex, a curious glint in her eye.

Alex knelt, took a napkin, and wiped Ryan's expensive shoe, the flash of a nearby guest's phone camera catching the moment. He felt nothing but a cold resolve hardening inside him.

Later, on the red carpet for another event, Ryan, walking just ahead of Alex, suddenly stumbled dramatically, sprawling onto the crimson fabric.

"He tripped me!" Ryan wailed, pointing at Alex. "He's still jealous! He can't stand to see me succeed!"

Jessica rushed to Ryan's side. "Alex! How could you? After everything I've done to help you manage your issues!"

She turned to the surrounding press. "Alex has been struggling with jealousy. He needs to apologize to Ryan. Publicly."

Alex looked at Ryan's fake grimace, at Jessica's furious face. The crowd was a blur of flashes and microphones.

"I apologize, Ryan," Alex said, his voice carrying clearly. The clip went viral within minutes: "A-Lister Alex Miller Grovels to Newcomer Ryan Vance."

Jessica patted his arm. "Good boy. You're making progress."

He knew she was enjoying this, this systematic dismantling of his pride. He let her. For now.
