James was cleaning the hospital floor when he saw his girlfriend, Sofia, walking with Max Peter. James' heart instantly fluttered, jealousy rushing in. He couldn't help himself, so he walked up to them and reprimanded, "Sofia, what are you doing with this man?"
Max, the man beside Sofia glanced at her. "Sofia, do you know him?"
After giving James a disgusted look, Sofia said, "Geez, Max, how could I know someone like this."
Max looked at James. "Janitor, get the hell out of our way!
James, can't just leave. After all, his girlfriend was with someone else. He wouldn't let her!
"Sofia, are you having an affair with this man?" James accused her directly.
Sofia rounded her eyes at James. She gave him a cold stare, then cursed, "James, you're so shameless! I do know you, and I'm trying to be nice to you too! But that doesn't mean we have a special relationship!"
No special relationship? Did what James had been doing not matter to her? They even kissed under the fireworks on New Year's Day. James also confessed his love and Sofia accepted. James gave her a diamond ring, the result of five years of hard work. It was a special relationship.
Sofia took the ring from her bag and threw it at James. "I accepted your gift because I thought you were sincere!" she said sadistically. "As it turns out, you have ulterior motives."
James picked up the ring. "Sofia, I don't need this anymore." He was about to give it back, but Sofia swatted it away and her jeweled ring scratched James' face.
"You are a pervert and a dirty brain, do you want to harass me with the gift of that little ring?"
Max, who heard Sofia's moan, was inflamed. "How dare a lowlife like you harass Sofia!"
James loudly said, "She's my girlfriend. You're the one who shamelessly snatched her!"
Boom!
James gets punched by Max. As he was down, Sofia kicked him in the face. James didn't want to retaliate because it was the woman he loved.
The director of the hospital, dr. Arnold Peter, a highly respected neurosurgeon, was in an important meeting when the sound of commotion reached his ears. He was Max's father, and he must have recognized his son's voice. He immediately left the meeting and approached the source of the noise.
"Enough! This is a hospital, not a fighting ground!" said dr. Arnold as soon as he saw the crowd of people. He looked at James and Max with a sharp gaze. "What's going on here?"
Max looked angry, "Dad, this young man is abusing my girlfriend!"
Arnold stared at James with an increasingly sharp gaze. James looked shocked and wanted to argue, but Dr. Arnold didn't give him that chance.
"James O'Connel, you are fired!" said dr. Arnold sternly. "I can't have people like you working in this hospital."
James felt he had to speak up and clarify the situation. "Wait a minute, Doctor Arnold," he said, looking at the hospital director. "Sofia is my lover. I have never abused anyone. I also never thought that Max, your son, would approach a janitor's girlfriend like me."
Max immediately confronted James. He whispered to Dr. Arnold, trying to maintain his dignity, "Dad, James is obsessed with Sofia. He even goes to the extent of making up stories."
Doctor Arnold looked hesitant for a moment, then his face became tense again. He didn't want to risk having someone who might be a criminal working in his hospital. "James, I've made my decision. You have to leave this hospital right now," he said firmly.
"But, Doc--"
"Leave!" Doctor Arnold didn't want to hear any more of James' excuses.
When James could no longer keep his job at the hospital, he had to be willing to be dishonorably discharged. With a broken heart, he walked away from the hospital. His steps felt heavy, as if the world was spinning counterclockwise.
Rain began to fall, soaking James' body and clothes. The heavy rain and strong winds added to his misery. Suddenly, the strong wind brought a huge billboard flying towards him. It hit James' body hard, sending him bouncing and covered in wounds.
James lay on the ground, soaking wet and covered in wounds. He felt like he was dying, losing a lot of blood. His world became dark and cold. Perhaps, this was the end of his life.
However, suddenly, a power appeared in him. A God power system suddenly appeared and filled his body with new energy. James felt the new power flowing through him, healing his wounds and giving him strength he had never felt before.
When the system was finally programmed in James' body, a voice that sounded like a robot said, [Welcome, Sir].
James woke up, and he realized there were no wounds on his body whatsoever. He stood in the middle of a deserted street, looking around him. The blood marks were also gone. He felt his body light and full of energy, like nothing had happened.
The system spoke again, [Welcome, Sir. Please open the entrance].
James was confused at first. However, he followed the instructions. He felt a force pulling him into his mind, and he followed the flow. As he opened the access pass, a message appeared in his mind.
[You are a God who has long lost his memory] the message read. [You have been reactivated with the help of this system. You have unparalleled miraculous healing powers].
James was shocked. He was a God? He had miraculous healing powers? James found this all too incredible to believe. However, he couldn't deny the fact that he had just healed from a severe injury in an instant.
[Sir, are you ready for the first task?] Ask the system.
"First task?" James who heard that was confused.
James' body had indeed dried from the rainwater, but he was still cold and trembling as he knew he had been subjected to a Godly power system that he didn't fully understand. He stood in the middle of a deserted street and asked if this was real or not.
Suddenly, a panel screen appeared before his eyes. The screen contained a number of information and instructions, including a request to press 'Okay' as an agreement that he was ready to perform the first task.
James hesitated. He didn't know what would happen if he pressed 'Okay'. He was scared, as he wasn't sure if the system was secure or not. He looked at the panel screen with a confused expression.
The system noticed James' hesitation. The robotic voice spoke again, trying to reassure James. "Sir, you have miraculous healing powers. This system is safe for you."
James still had his doubts. However, he also knew that he had no other choice. He had to try to understand this new power. Because this might be the only way to get back at those who had humiliated him.
After thinking for a moment, James took a deep breath, then slowly pressed 'Okay' on the panel screen. As James' finger touched the screen, there was a flash of light, and suddenly all the information on the panel screen was instantly absorbed into his mind.
James' brain was filled with various information about the God power system and its healing powers. It made James a little dizzy at first, but he forced himself to stay calm and try to make sense of all the information.
After a while, James finally managed to absorb all the information. He felt more confident and ready to do the first task of the system. He didn't know what would happen next, but he was confident that he was ready for it.
The moment the button was pressed, the screen changed and displayed two virtual assistants that could become real.
The first assistant was a woman with a sexy body and large boobs. She could perform all sorts of tasks, including serving James' sexual needs.
The second assistant was a man with a well-built body and looked to be around 40 years old. He could drive and do anything James ordered, including having martial arts skills.
After much deliberation, James finally chose the male assistant. Once the choice was made, the panel screen instantly disappeared, and a man appeared in front of him. He looked just like the one shown on the screen: a well-built body, a stern face, and a strong, calm aura.
The assistant greeted James in a very human way. "Hello, sir. I am at your service," he said in a deep, calm voice.
James was quite surprised. He had never imagined that this choice would result in such a lifelike figure. The assistant seemed like a real human being, not a virtual entity.
After the greeting, the assistant spoke again. "Sir, I need a name. What name would you like for me?"
After looking at the virtual assistant who was now tangible in front of him, James felt that the name "Julian" would suit him perfectly. With his dashing and dignified appearance, the name Julian sounded fitting and gave off a strong sense of power and confidence.
"Your name is Julian," James said, looking up at the assistant. Julian nodded, accepting the new name.
"Very good, Sir. From now on, you can call me Julian," Julian said with a smile.
Shortly after, the system provided new information to James. "Congratulations, Sir. You have earned 10 points for your next choice," said the robotic voice from inside James' mind.
James was quite happy. He didn't know what the points meant, but he felt that it must be a good thing. He felt more confident in his decision to vote for Julian.
Shortly after that, the system gave James his first task. "Sir, your next task is to buy an apartment," the system said.
James furrowed his brow. He didn't have the money to buy an apartment. However, before he could express his concerns, the system provided a solution.
"I have prepared a credit card for you, Sir. The balance on it is 1 billion dollars," the system said.
James was shocked. He never imagined that he would get that amount of money. However, he was also relieved. With that much money, he could buy a good apartment and start a new life with Julian.
James held the credit card that the system had just given him. He looked at it with a doubtful expression. Although the balance on it read 1 billion dollars, he was not sure if this card could really be used in the real world.
"It really works, doesn't it?" asked James, looking at Julian.
Julian nodded. "Yes, Sir. This system has made everything real, including this credit card," Julian replied firmly. "You can use it in the real world, just like a normal credit card."
James stared at the card. Really, he wasn't sure it would work.
Amidst the confusion that enveloped his mind, James stared at the plastic card he held in disbelief. His virtual assistant, Julian, in his flat voice, gave instructions.
"Sir, the card is multipurpose. You can use it for various purposes, even to withdraw money," Julian said again. Even though he was human-like, he still spoke like a robot.
James was still skeptical. How could a card that he had just received have such a function? Julian, as if sensing his hesitation, gently encouraged him. "Go to the ATM immediately and try using the card, Sir. According to the data I've scanned, it looks like you need money to buy lunch and new clothes to keep you from looking shabby."
Snorting softly, James checked his surroundings. The usually bustling street was now strangely quiet, creating a suspicious atmosphere. There were no passersby, no sounds of vehicles, just a deafening silence.
"Sir, are you confused by this state of affairs?" asked Julian again.
James nodded, despite knowing that Julian couldn't see him. "Yes, I'm confused. Everything feels strange and quiet. It's unusual," he replied, his voice barely audible.
Julian gave his analysis in a calm and controlled voice.
"It's quiet until your loading process to understand the situation is complete," Julian said, as if waiting for James to digest this unnatural situation.
James tried to respond to that. Amidst the silence, his mind raced. "Can't the people around here see me?" he muttered to himself, feeling as if he had become a ghost in a city that normally pulsed with life.
"Sir, if you're okay with this, I'll help make things normal again," Julian said, his voice containing a promise of a return to a familiar reality.
James nodded, albeit in confusion. "Yes, I understand," he replied, his voice barely convincing.
With a metaphorical 'snap of the fingers', Julian changed the city's appearance back to the original. As the system operated, the digital reality around James began to change. The quiet streets became crowded, wet with traces of the rain that had just stopped. People seemed to quicken their pace, creating the sound of rustling wet clothes and hurried footsteps.
The billboard that hit James' body was indeed there and was being moved by officers to a safe place. However, there was no sign that the mess had hit James' body. He stood there, whole and untouched by the chaos that had seemed so real.
James gazed around, taking in the technological marvel he had just witnessed. With a smile etched on his face, he said, "Wow, so you guys can even manipulate things."
Julian shook his head lightly. "Sir, there is nothing in this world that we manipulate. We just arranged for these events to be known only to you, sort of creating a parallel world for you."
James looked around him again, trying to understand the concept of parallel worlds.
"But in reality the real world is still going on normally and, of course, there are illusions we've created to mask your true powers," Julian continued, his voice remaining calm and controlled, conveying the complexity of the situation in an easily digestible way.
James nodded slowly, as if the lights in his head had suddenly turned on. "All right, then," he said, already beginning to believe more deeply. "I'm starting to believe that the power of this system is real. I'm going to use this to withdraw cash from an ATM."
Next, James made his way to the nearest ATM. Arriving in front of the ATM, he reached into his pocket and pulled out the card that the system had prepared.
The ATM screen lit up, waiting for a command from the user.
James hands the card to the ATM machine, the screen lights up, offering various options for the amount of money that can be withdrawn. Carefully, James selected the smallest number available on the screen--an amount that would be enough to cover his needs for the night without going overboard.
A few seconds later, the machine beeped and the cash appeared, matching the amount he had selected. James smiled with satisfaction, knowing that the sophisticated system had worked perfectly.
It felt like he deserved more than just having money for lunch. James could do something more, something to celebrate this small victory. He inserted the card back into the ATM and made another withdrawal. This time, without hesitation, he chose to take out $1,000.
James stepped out of the ATM with a calm and satisfied look on his face. His pants pocket was slightly bulging after the successful transaction.
Julian immediately asked, "Did you withdraw the money, sir?"
"Yes, I have withdrawn the money," James replied.
"Now where are we going?" Julian continued, his voice sounding soft in James' ears.
Before answering Julian's question, James had a question of his own. "Julian, can you be seen by others?" he asked, curious about the limits of the human mode that Julian mentioned earlier.
Julian answered calmly, "You have activated human mode on me, Sir, which means others can see me."
James breathed a sigh of relief. "Good then," he said with a faint smile. "At least I won't be mistaken for a crazy person talking to myself." Julian, though only virtual, seemed to smile at the comment.
They continued on their way, looking for a place to eat dinner. With a thousand dollars in his pocket, James could eat anything he wanted. Julian thought in his heart that James would choose a fancy restaurant, but the opposite was true. The man walked into a fast food restaurant.
"Sir, why don't you order food at a fancy restaurant? Aren't you taking quite a lot of money?" asked Julian, confused by James' choice.
Savoring a delicious burger and hot fries, James answered Julian's question. "I'm pretty bad today, if I go to a fancy restaurant I'll get kicked out," he said in a joking tone but there was a bit of truth in it.
"In that case, you should immediately go to the department store and buy some clothes," he suggested, thinking practically about what should be done.
"Later," James replied, going back to chewing his food voraciously. "My stomach is hungry and all I can think about right now is filling my stomach after the shock and heartbreak." His thoughts drifted to Sofia Martinez, his girlfriend who had broken his heart. He wondered how Sofia would react if she knew that James had now found himself and had the power of the system in his hands.
Would she whine at him or not? James wondered to himself. He could guess that Sofia would definitely regret it if she knew.
James noticed Julian who just stood looking at him. "Julian, can you eat human food?"
Julian stared at the food, then with the sensor integrated in his 'eyes' he scanned the item in front of him. "Yes, I can, sir, depending on your orders," Julian replied, showing that he was more than just an ordinary assistant.
James smiled, amused by Julian's sophistication. "Then eat this," he said as he pushed the plate of fries towards Julian. "I command you to enjoy them."
Chuckling, James watched Julian 'eat'. Although he knew that Julian didn't really need food.
James heard a voice in his ear.
