I continued to live in such Hypocrisy, trying to fit in and co-exist in both lifestyles: Normal society and My monstrosity Lifestyle.
Days come and go, but I don't think "Days" have the same length, or it's only in our minds, while in reality there's no such thing as time. Days being days, they will last a minute when you are happy and comfortable, and also last a century when you are in pain and agony.
It was a very hard situation to be in while in Love with someone, a serious relationship with marriage coming soon. It felt like gasping for air at the bottom of the ocean, I had to wake up in the night, watch myself turning into the Arachne-like Monster completely helpless .
Day by day, I couldn't stop thinking about what could happen to him, what if I lost control of, or what could happen if he found out that I was that Dangerous. Will he give a damn about love thingy, Or he will just dump me?
I knew it was like hiding in plain sight or in the field of cabbages, that eventually, I was going to get caught. My perfect disguise didn't last long though. All was about to change and be revealed to every unaided eye.
But how did I get here in the first place? What kind of "human monster" to begin with?
Our anecdote actually begins long before the incident of the Transformation, many eons ago.
It was Sunday evening, on Christmas eve, a clear and clean night. The Stars came earlier that day. Twinkling up above the sky, they resembled the sparkles of the fireworks, more like salt sprinkled over a large bluish shade of a black table. The wind was howling outside. Birds were tweeting outside, calling their unique songs as it was being late.
Outside, I was sitting on the balcony, my hands on both cheeks, watching the stars. It was amazingly spectacular. I surely knew what was going on inside the living room as preparation for Christmas. I'm quite antisocial naturally. It never excites me to be with people a lot, even if It's family members I'm just that Extremely Introvert. Family members, especially uncles who team up with a mother to ask you why you are always pressing your phone, and grandparents who never stop asking when you are going to get married!
Meanwhile, everyone was very excited and busy setting up the Christmas tree. My Uncle Ben and other close relatives came to the party. The real engender that I wasn't interested in partying was just because the previous Friday the week before was my first day in advanced secondary school.
They built our education system in such a way that we have classes in December and January, except for the holidays. Deep down, I wasn't feeling like partying because it didn't go well back to school. I'm not going to tell you what was the matter though! So whatever you're guessing, it's wrong! but don't worry, we'll get it on!
"Hey! Come back Here. Bring back that star," shouted a girl inside the house. It was my sister Cory. She was chasing Billy, our dog, who store her star for the Christmas tree.
Billy rushed toward my chair and sat down in front of me. While he was panting, the Star fell off his teeth, and it nearly fell down the balcony, but I caught it.
"Oh! Here!" I handed the Christmas star to Cory, and she went back inside winking at me. Billy was climbing my chair, and I was petting his head and rubbing his tummy.
Oh! Actually, I'm the firstborn in our family of five. We're 3 children and parents (Two parents of course) I'm the only boy, Cory is the second, 17 years old and Britney is our last born, she's 3 years old.
Cory is so beautiful. Well, frankly you can't see it if your sister was ugly, but Taylor is remarkably Beautiful, so obvious that even the blind can see it! She's brown with blonde hair. She is a kind of talkative girl and I love it so much. She loves me too. Cory likes our dog Billy, who is a Husky breed. And Britney, despite the fact that she likes candy so much, she's just a 3 years old kid.
My parents are both paramedics and sometimes they work full time at the hospital, so most of the time I'm the one to look after my siblings. When it's the holidays, I'm the one who drives mummy to the hospital where she sometimes works her weekend shift. Otherwise, she will take a taxi.
Mum has a driving license, but she doesn't enjoy driving though! Just because she once crashed through the gates and since then she's nervous.
Daddy and mom used to work the same shift at District's Hospital, but nowadays Dad moved to the other hospital, so they don't go together anymore.
Daddy is here, of course. How can a family celebrate Christmas without 'a Dad'?
"Dave honey! Come inside, it's dinnertime." It was my mum calling me.
Well, I have to admit, I hate it when she's calling me that name "Honey" like I'm Britney! I feel kind of underrated because she never understands how grown-up I am. I'm 20 years old but she'll treat me like little Britney who's 3 years old.
Billy jumped out of my chair, and I stood up and headed to the dining room. Raising my head, I suddenly stopped and froze for a while. Pupils dilated and my jaws dropped for a bit.
In my mind, I was raising my hands towards the cheeks and gasping like that kid named Kevin from the movie Home Alone or Deadpool! This happened in a fraction of a second, so I quickly pretended like nothing happened before anyone realized it. There was This dark-brown beautiful girl sitting parallel to the empty seat reserved for me. It was Taylor.
Is that so? Oh yeah, I'm glad you asked. I will tell you what's so special about her.
I was flabbergasted because she was my classmate. As a matter of fact, she sat beside me in almost every class back then.
The real Engender for all is the fact that she was at our family party. Gazillion questions rushed in my mind, wondering, is she part of the family? Is she my close relative? No way! I said a lot of things in front of that kid!
The thing is, my first day at school was a veritable nightmare for me. There was this big guy named Tony. He is a Retaker in Advanced level, so he's like an Alpha Lion in the Jungle or Silverback gorilla in the pack! The lecturer wasn't in class.
"Hey kid, what's up?" I slowly raised my head to see this guy sitting at my writing desk with complete confidence. In my head, I still wasn't comprehending why he'd call me a "Kid" while I was 20 years old!
I realized it was a bully already, so I didn't say a word and instead reached my bag for my glasses. Deep down in me, I knew that If I answered him, we'd end up fighting, and I'd be expelled from the school on the first day. Why would I get expelled? Oh yeah, glad you asked: I am a martial artist and I have a black belt, so I can knock him down in no time.
"Whoa! This kid has glasses. Let the Auction begin!"
He said, laughing hysterically as he pulled my glasses off my hands. I just cooperated, otherwise I'd end up breaking my glasses.
"they cost a fortune though!" He said, heading in front of the class, grabbing his water bottle and heading to the lecturer's table. Then he sat down.
Using a water bottle as a gavel, he was shouting as he banged it to the table, mimicking the Auction
"a cent one... A cent two.... And a cent.... " He didn't finish his sentence as a Calm and Tall girl entered the class. All the students were laughing at me and cheering that Tony guy but suddenly they were all quiet like they saw a principal or some authority or staff member!
I thought she was a lecturer, but it felt absurd because she was like 19 years old.
She said angrily, "Auction? That's ridiculous! Is this how you treat a newcomer?"
I realized that she might be a leader or something in the class.
Tony stood up and headed back to his seat, handing me my glasses.
The Girl saw an empty seat beside me and she approached me, throwing her bag to the floor and shaking my hand simultaneously.
she said, "Hi, I'm Taylor"
"Dave," I said nervously as she sat down with me.
Normally, when I was a kid, I used to bend my fingers backward when I was nervous. But now that I'm grown up, I can't do that anymore! Plus, there was a girl besides me.
Luckily, a couple of minutes later, the lecturer came in and we started class.
The bell rang. It was recess time. I didn't want to leave the class and suddenly she would not go out either.
"So you're new in the school, huh?" She said, turning her head to face me.
"um, yeah I'm a newbie here!" I answered, trying to look cool, but I was really nervous.
Well, at my age I'm not supposed to be that nervous in front of girls, but I didn't know if I would crush on her instantly or if it was something else.
"I'm a headgirl in this class"
"headgirl?"
"yeah kinda like Class Representative, but at Grade level"
"oh yeah, I get it now"
We continued talking. but honestly, deep down, I wasn't interested in conversations! My mind was noting and registering every single character of hers. That's when I noticed that she was so beautiful.
After class, we continued hanging out a lot, until she took a bus to her house and I went home too.
So it shocked me to see her in the dining room, wondering how she got there to begin with.
She saw me too, and she choked on her drink!, but she didn't show it to anybody. I bet she had some questions like mine in her mind. Only the two of us knew what was going on.
After dinner, through the conversations, that's when I came to realize that Taylor was a neighbor of my aunt, and she invited her to the family party just because she likes her. Taylor was supposed to spend the night with us and the next day on Christmas she'll go to her family, so I had plenty of time to talk to her.
It was time for a movie and chatting, that's when I approached her to hang out a bit again.
"So this is your family?" she asked
"Yeah, sure. How did you even get here? I thought you lived in a metropolis"
"oh yeah, we live next to your aunt and since she has no children, I end up helping her out with chores and everything. She loves me so much that she thought it would be a good idea if we came here together"
"wow so cool"
We continued talking and laughing, and then we watched stars together. That's when I realized that she was so beautiful and kind too. She was very attentive to everything and, unlike me; she was an extrovert. That's why I liked hanging out with her.
I have this habit of writing almost everything new and remarkable to me in my diaries, so here's how I described her :
«At the first time I thought I was hallucinating or something but I realized I wasn't.
Taylor was this light-dark brown-faced, with few blemishes which are fading away. She had few eyebrows and few lashes; had small lips and snowy white teeth. Taylor had these relatively small eyes, which were blue but not too much. She had beautiful, splendiferous Afro hair which is black. She had dimples down below the corners of the mouth. Had black lips, a relatively normal-sized neck, and she had arms with very few skin pores. Had an S-shaped Fuselage, with big well-shaped hips. She had beautiful legs with normal width, which was less hairy, and delicate feet with long toes, which made her look absolutely beautiful.
I was so obviously impressed with the Beauty of hers. Her Physiology was very Captivating she is the true meaning of beauty!»
After reviewing what I just memorized about her in that short time, I surprised myself! And I was like:
"Ooh boy, you really have a serious crush on her!"
The next question was "Are you going to shoot your shot, or you are going to shoot your shot?"
Though everyone was supposed to spend Christmas with their families, my dad convinced everyone that they were going to be with us on Christmas day and they both agreed.
Christmas morning, everyone was excited but me.
I don't enjoy those gatherings where they'll ask for a firstborn to deliver some speeches: it's just I am not that social.
Taylor and Cory were helping mum and others in the kitchen, I and Dad were finishing some decorations, While Brittney was playing with Billy.
After a few moments, everything was ready, and the party began. As usual, it was my turn to deliver a speech, and I did well as it was a kinda family tradition.
Through the process, Taylor stared at me very attentively like she was interested in everything I was saying. The party ended and everyone went to their respective places.
We hung out very often, and I went to her house to visit her and she came back to mine too.
««There's a very notable distinction between my room and hers, though! See, In her room, everything is arranged in such a way that you can think that she has nothing at all because of all the space in her room. Everything is arranged neatly!
My room? Ha! It's a mess, I just find it comfortable for me to find everything I need when they're not arranged neatly, plus Nobody gets in my room actually.»» That's what I wrote in my diary about that holiday.
When we returned to school, Taylor was my best friend, and being best friends with "a Head girl" is such a Security, and from that moment on, none ever tried bullying.
In our friendship, we hung out almost everywhere. In the Restaurant, in the gym, swimming, and in the basketball playground, everywhere she was, I was present. We even gave each other nicknames! She called me "Davis" from Dave and I named her "T" as in Taylor, not from Tea :)
After the third semester, I was familiar with almost all of my classmates, and Rumors said that I and Taylor were dating! Frankly, when I heard that, I'd act like nothing happened, but deep down, I'd be like "I wish it could happen" I loved hearing that because I had a crush on her.
She was so beautiful indeed.
We continued being "Just Friends" for the next 3 academic years until it was time for Selecting Universities we wish to join after the National examinations.
We had a conversation full of humor:
"Hey T, what are you going to pursue in University?" I asked,
"Um, Culinary arts!"
"Whoa! It's a joke, right? "
"haha! of course, it is "
"Okay, seriously what are you going to select?"
"I'm going to take Biomedical Engineering"
"Wow! That sounds interesting!"
"yeah sure. What about you?"
"Aerospace Engineering"
"Looks like we have Another Steven Hawking!"
"ha! Stop it."
Thereupon National examination Results, we both passed with excellent marks each! She had 67/73, and I had 64/73. That granted both of us scholarships in national university.
We had two months of Détente (kinda short Holiday with the length like recess time! Well, not that short but well, you get the idea;)) to prepare ourselves to join higher learning institutes and to find required documents, too.
Because we lived in the same province, most of the time we went to sign papers to the province headquarters together.
It was Saturday morning; the sun rose earlier than normal. On that day I had an appointment with Taylor to go bring the last papers, that's when I decided to ask her out.
I wanted to make a difference so that it'd be so Remarkable. I wrote a paper that looked like an official document we were seeking for. I managed to mimic the emblem and logos of the University she was joining. On the title, I wrote in big visible, bold letters.
"LIVING ALLOWANCE AGREEMENTS'
In the body, I wrote long meaningless texts and in the center; I wrote in big, visible, bold letters.
"DINNER TONIGHT? AGREED. @ CAMELLIA 14h30 SHARP! "and filled out the rest of the paper with other jumbled texts and signed. I handed her the document, claiming that it's her contract to sign, and watched her fall into my trap!
She skimmed through the paper and suddenly her face looked like that moment when you're struck with Super bright light in your eyes, that you kinda back off a little to focus on what you're seeing.
She was Bedazzled in awe by saying "Really?" She thought it was some kind of prank or something.
I Said "Yeah for real!"
Taylor looked at me again directly in my eyes, still don't believing that Iwas only serious, but when she realized I was serious, she was again perplexed by my charm wit at the moment!
"Um, Dave looks, exactly at that time, I have to visit my grandparents. So I can't make it, I'm sorry "
She said, looking down.
I knew that those were excuses because her grandparents lived in another province, approximately 7 hours drive one-way, and she never spent a night anywhere but at her parent's! So there was no way she can go there.
In my mind, I started to realize that I was being friendzoned at that moment, but I believed in her, so I fought away those thoughts as soon as possible.
After long awkward moments of silence, none talking but staring at each other's eyes, a flash of dazzling headlights struck me in my eyes. It was the Governor's SUV honking at us because we were standing in the parking in front of his car.
He broke the silence, and I quickly got out of his way to let him pass.
After he left, we continued to stand there nontalkingly but thinking.
"Davis, Davis..... Davis?" she called me, staring at my eyes
"oh... Hi! Um, I.... Yes sir?" I answered, stammering.
"You okay?" she asked, seeming to be dazed
"Pshaw! Of course, I am... Hahaha!" I answered tryna to be as calm as I can.
Inside I was thinking about how we're going to continue to be "Just Friends" which was impossible of course!
There's an old parable about that, that says "In no matter the condition, EXs can't be «Just Friends»" (But you do realize that I invented that proverb, right? :) )
We were still holding papers in our hands, and she had that Fake Agreement in her hands. She slowly folded the paper and put it in her purse, and then she approached me, and she kissed me on the cheeks and waving at the Taxi simultaneously.
Saying," Bye Davis, See you Monday"
"Whoa! That's sweet. Bye!" I mumbled softly that she can't even hear that.
After she left, I took an Uber on the way home. Inside the car, I kept thinking about how she denied my proposal, and she kissed me for the first time!
I was like: is that Judah's kiss?
I was drowned in my thoughts that I nearly passed home, but fortunately, the driver was my friend so he stopped by the gates of home. I paid him and tipped him and he left.
