MIA
"Can you not interrupt me while I'm filming?" Matilda yelled at me.
I moved away quickly from where she stood and made my way to another corner before she reported me to my parents. She was always the golden child, so it's obvious that they'd do whatever she wanted.
She continued filming with her friends while I just stood there, watching her live my dream. She had lots of followers and was the popular one even though we were twins.
We were nineteen years of age but yet she got her wolf before me. She was like the prettier and better version of me, it was like looking at myself in the mirror watching what I would never become.
"Mia, can you help me hold the lightning stand? It's not bright enough," she told me.
I scoffed, "Do it yourself, or better still get one of your friends to do it," I told her.
She looked at me with bloodshot in her eyes. "Are you talking back to me? Do you want me to report to Mom and Dad because I can assure you that the consequences would be bad," she threatened.
I gulped down my saliva and went to do as I was told. My hands were aching and I wanted to give up so badly but I knew the consequences of not abiding by her rules.
"I can't believe my face looks horrible, the party is tonight and if I don't look great then I'm done for," Matilda whined.
"You don't have to worry much Matilda. You mentioned that Kael was your mate so you don't have to worry about anything since you're the one he's choosing," her friend said.
I noticed the expression on her face. I could tell there and then what a big fat liar she was. She only needed more popularity to her name and decided to go this far.
How ridiculous!
"How did you even know that he's your mate? Hasn't he been out of the pack for years now? I doubt if you've ever seen him before," I said.
She gave me a look of despair and all of her friends looked at her with a questioning look. "That's right but I can tell that he's my mate because there's no way he'd settle with a low class and I'm the most popular so we're meant to be."
How delusional she can be and I thought that she's supposed to be the smart and pretty one but I'm guessing that she's just beauty with no brains.
"We have to get new dresses!" They squealed.
They were very annoying and the fact that they almost caused my ears to bleed. They didn't even care about the light stand I was holding and just shoved me aside so they could make their way past me.
The house was already so messy but they didn't have to worry about the mess they made since I'm around to clean it up for them. Taking a deep breath, I grabbed the cleaning materials from the store and started cleaning.
Could my life get any more pathetic?

"You look cute, honey!" Mom complimented Matilda.
She didn't bother showing any concerns and I just stood there, waiting for them to get over with their drama. I was already done dressing up like half an hour ago but Matilda needs to take her time as usual.
"Can you be fast? We don't have all day, Matilda!" I whined.
Mom looked at me with a scornful expression. "You know she has to look pretty," she scowled at me. "I gave birth to two girls but only one proved to be useful so you have no right to complain."
My heart sank after hearing her statement. I was sure that I was going to cry but the last thing I wanted was having to cry in front of them. That would be so embarrassing and give them another reason to mock me.
"I'd wait in the car."
They didn't bother looking at me and I walked out, making my way towards the car, getting lost in my thoughts eventually.
It took almost another thirty minutes before they arrived at the car. "Can you go to the back?" Mom asked.
I looked at her, confused by her statement. "But it's my turn to sit at the front today. Matilda's had her turn last week," I cried.
"Yes, but she wants to sit here today. It's such an auspicious day today, don't tell me you want to deny your sister of her happiness. Aren't you the eldest?"
"Just two minutes."
"Go to the back, Mia," Dad calmly said.
I couldn't believe that they were both throwing me under the boss. Out of anger, I got out slamming the door loudly, and made my way to the back with mom slouching in anger as I watched the three of them discuss and as usual, I was left out of the conversation.
We arrived at the pack house, where the party was being held. It's a welcome party for alpha Kael as he rounds down the throne. He's been gone for so many years and I can't even remember what he looks like because the last time I saw him he was still a teenager and that was when his father held his birthday party in the palace.
I tried envisioning what he would look like but no matter how hard I tried, the vision looked very blurry. But rumors have it, that he's a stone-cold hottie. I wasn't much into guys but part of me was curious to see what he looked like now.
We entered the main hall and my parents went to meet a few others while Matilda parted to go meet with her friends. I sat in a corner, watching the dancers as some form of entertainment.
It got so bad that I started thinking of myself back at home, just binge-watching through the series. I wasn't much of an extrovert anyway.
The MC of the event arrived at the podium disrupting the event. He got a hold of the mic. "I apologize for the disruption but Alpha Kael is running a bit late and might not be here in time so till then enjoy the rest of the event."
My blood boiled at the fact that it only meant I would have to be here longer. I couldn't take it anymore, I couldn't be here for another minute.
I realized that the event was going nowhere, grabbed my bag, and left the area. I was almost at the door when I collided with someone familiar and the smell of his cologne hit my nostrils.
"Fuck!" He cursed.
I looked up at him, realizing that he was very handsome, his black hair styled perfectly and face with that well-structured jaw sent me flying. My breath hitched and I gulped down a large sum of my saliva before I lost it.
"Can you watch where you're going?" He scolded me, looking into my eyes.
For a moment, it was almost as if time stopped and it was just the both of us. I stared at him for an amount of time and my wolf kicked in, making it hard for me to concentrate.
"Mate!" Moriah– My wolf yelled.
I looked at the man awestruck by what had just occurred and I was aching to touch his face, just to know how that perfectly structured jaw felt in my hands. I could tell that he felt something too, maybe it was the mate bond.
I reached out to touch his face but he angrily grabbed it. "Know your limits."
He flung it away and walked past me before I could even complete a sentence. I was still surprised by what had just occurred and for a while the moment replayed in my head.
Why would he do that? He was so rude to me? Was he going to reject me?
"Mia!" I heard Matilda's voice from behind.
She walked over to me, grabbing me by the hand. "Don't tell me you're leaving. I just heard that Kael is around and I need you to stay to watch him claim me."
Her delusion was going to be the end of her. "And why do I need to stay?"
She scoffed and dragged me back to the party. I angrily sat down, watching as the Mc called out his name. Everyone clapped including me and as soon as he stepped on the podium, I knew I was done for.
Matilda started screaming like crazy while I was trying to comprehend the situation on the ground.
"Isn't he so hot?" She giggled.
He didn't smile, rather he maintained a stern expression while waving his hands. His eyes met with mine but he moved his gaze away before I could even smile at him.
"Mate!" Moriah yelled again, and I had to take deep breaths to control the emotions spinning up in me
It was him! Alpha Kael was my mate?!
MIA
I couldn't stop staring at him. Tall, dark hair, and piercing eyes that seemed to bore into my soul. Our gazes met for a brief moment, and I felt a jolt of electricity run through my body.
But before I could process what was happening, Matilda grabbed my arm, her eyes shining with excitement. "Come on, Mia! Let's go congratulate Kael!" she squealed, dragging me through the crowd.
As we pushed our way to the front, I felt a sense of trepidation. What would Kael be like? Would he be kind or cruel? And then, just as we reached the edge of the crowd, I collided with a hard chest.
We tried making our way through the crowd, but it was hard since the security guards wouldn't let us past them. There were a lot of people so we had to stay in line instead.
"Damn! I can't stay here. I have to figure out something," Matilda complained.
"Can you just have patience? We'd reach there soon enough," I told her.
She looked over at one of the security guards, flashing a smile. "I noticed you've been standing all day here. How hard it is being a guard," she pretended to care.
He was a bit awkward at first but once she touched his arm. He smiled at her and it was just like magic. Who said pretty privilege ain't real? They haven't met my sister.
"Yeah, but I have a wife and kids at home so I have no choice," he said to her.
I could tell that it was a statement for her to back off but she still didn't get the hint until he was called by another guard, causing him to walk away.
The scenery was oddly satisfying that I could laugh all day just watching her display her insane attitude. She looked extremely displeased with what just occurred.
"Can't believe he jilted me like that."
"He's married. Your beauty can't entice everyone, you know?" I told her and it felt like a bullet straight to her heart.
"Let's get out of here. I can't be seen with peasants," she dragged me out of there like I was the one who was eager to meet him.
We made our way back to the car and throughout the ride, Matilda didn't say one word to anyone. She just kept to herself and was on her phone the entire period. Our parents tried striking up a conversation with her but she was headstrong.
"Can you just shut up for a second?" She snapped at them.
They apologized and focused on driving. We arrived back home and I decided to spend the day in my room instead. My parents were downstairs trying to console Matilda, who was throwing one of her baby tantrums.
"I would make sure to deal with them once I ascend the throne," she said, displaying her delusional attitude once more.
I closed the door to my room and just laid on the bed, thinking about Kael. He was a jerk but for some reason, I just couldn't get my mind off him. His eyes, his jaw, his height, he was everything I had ever dreamed of.
But sadly, he didn't want me.
Why would he want me anyway? I'm nothing but just a shadow of my sister. I have no one, no friends, not even a pet to console myself.
"You have me," Moriah said.
It was nice to know that I wasn't entirely alone. "I know that Moriah, but I want a human friend. You don't get it, do you?"
"Does our mate not want us?" She asked.
I stayed quiet for a bit, not knowing what I was supposed to say to her. "Are you even listening to me? I'm talking about my life and here you are talking about a mate? He doesn't want us, Moriah."
Moriah stayed quiet and I didn't even feel her move. I realized that I had been very mean to her and shouldn't have reacted like that to her.
"Moriah, I'm sorry," I apologized quickly.
"No, you're right. I know everything you're facing and I was a bit selfish. But I believe things are about to take turns for the best."
"When Moriah? When?" I cried.
"Soon." She said, "You should go to bed. It's going to be a long day tomorrow since Matilda isn't happy."
Fuck! I knew she was right. If Matilda wasn't happy then the rest of us wouldn't be either. It's like we constantly have to keep her happy if something, she's such a baby.

A loud bang on the door jerked me out of my nap. I checked the time, realizing that it was seven am in the morning. Who could it be by this time of the day?
I stayed in bed, in hopes that someone else would answer the door instead but no one was ready to get us and the bang on the door was only getting on my nerves.
Taking deep breaths, I gathered enough strength and went downstairs dressed in my pajamas and my hair tied in a messy bun.
I opened the door and was surprised to see the guards from the palace standing there, staring at me with a stern expression on their faces.
"Is she the one?" One of them looked into a file. He looked back at my face to confirm and nodded in response.
"Yes, she's the one."
My parents were out by this time and once they saw them, my mom let out a scream. She ran quickly to Matilda's room to get her and she didn't look happy until she set her eyes on her.
"Why are they here?" I heard her whisper.
I rolled my eyes and returned my attention to them. "Please, come in."
They smiled and made their way in while I just sat far away, pretending to be on my phone. I knew Kael was my mate and I'm sure he knew too. Is that why they're here?
"Sorry for coming so early in the morning but it's urgent," the man dressed in a plain black shirt and jeans apologized. "My name is Gerald and I was sent by the alpha to inquire about one of your daughters."
My parents were already feeling happy while my heart was racing fast, knowing that it was going to be me.
"Her presence is requested in the palace."
"You don't have to worry about that because you can take her for as long as you want," Mom pushed Matilda forward.
He looked at the file then back at me and then back at the file again. "Are you sure she's the right twin?" He asked again.
Mom giggled and nodded in response. "Of course, isn't she so pretty?"
"Just for confirmation. Are you Mia?"
Matilda's smile turned into a frown, shocked by the question. "What do you mean? Why would you ask for Matilda?" She demanded.
"I'm guessing that's a little no then."
He returned his attention to me and said, "Your presence is requested in the palace in the next three days."
He got up and left with the rest of the men while I was left alone with my parents thinking of the consequences that were to come.
"Why? Why would he ask of you?" Mom inquired.
I was contemplating on whether or not to let her know that he was my mate because of the facial expression she held.
"They made a mistake, right? Because why would they need Mia? Mia isn't even better or close to being better than me," she cried.
"I'm not trying to be better than you."
"Then why did they call your name, huh?" She snapped at me. "I'm sure that you did something to seduce him last night. What did you do? Did you convince him to have a one-night stand with you?" She accused me.
"What the fuck?!" I cursed. "I was with you all night long. Why would you even mention that?"
"If you were truly with me like you said then why did this occur? There's no way he'd want you unless you're a true hooker."
My parents didn't say anything, watching her insult me. "Mom? Dad?" I called out to them softly. "I would never do that. Believe me," I pleaded with them.
"Then explain all this," Mom demanded
I took a deep breath, deciding to let them know the truth instead. "He's my mate."
They burst into laughter but stopped after they noticed the serious look on my face. "You're serious?" Mia gasped and I nodded in response.
"But...but how is that possible? It should be me instead," she said. "You can't be his Luna. I should be the one, I have a reputation to maintain."
"None of my business."
"You're not going there, are you?" She asked, with a creepy smile on her face.
"I can't refuse the Alpha."
"But how about I go in your place instead," she suggested.
I thought it was a joke but she was dead serious about it. "What do you mean by that?"
"You can't take what's mine and since we're twins, it shouldn't be difficult to fool everyone and switch places with me."
MIA
I stared at her for some amount of time, thinking that it was all going to turn out to be one big joke but the look on her face only proved that she was dead serious about it and wasn't going to push back from her plan anytime soon.
"Are you okay? You can't possibly switch places with me. We may be twins but we have nothing in common and your appearance is way different from mine."
She shrugged, folding her arms together. "It's not my fault that I don't want to be a nerd like you," she mocked.
The fact that she still had the audacity to talk back at me despite the fact that she needed my help. "You can go to hell, Matilda. I don't want any of this," I refused.
She cornered me before I could make my way to my room. "You can't do this to me. I should be the one who's visiting him but I can't because you seduced him. The least you can do as some form of apology is letting me go in your place."
Her persistent attitude was getting on my nerves. "I don't even know why he's requested my presence but yet you're so eager to go. Did you stop for once to think that I may have offended him?" I suggested.
She scoffed loudly. "What can you possibly do to offend him?"
She couldn't believe that I could offend him but yet she could believe that I had seduced him. It was just made up to get everyone on her side, to favor her like they usually do.
"Go to hell, Matilda."
I walked away from her but she dragged me back before I could make my way out of the room. "What do you think you're doing?" I demanded to know.
She looked confused but was determined at the same time. "I won't let you go."
She was so adamant and I wasn't going to let it slide just that easily. "Can you stop being delusional? He doesn't even know you so stop acting like an entitled brat."
"Why are you so bent on being Luna anyways? It doesn't seem like your style but yet you've made it your goal," I mentioned.
"Like, you also want to be Luna also?"
We weren't close but she knew me well enough. I didn't want to be Luna, it's not something I had dreamed of but then again, what's the use of staying here.
"I would rather be Luna than spend another day with you monsters," I let out unknowingly.
My parents opened their mouths wide in agape, driven aback by my outburst but I didn't give a fuck anymore and was ready to fight back.
"After everything we've done for you. You still proved to be an ungrateful bitch," Mom yelled, about to hit me but Dad held her back.
"Ungrateful bitch?" I yelled. "All of my life, you've been treating me like nothing because of her. You always favored her and neglected me in the process."
"Do you even know anything about me? Do you know what I like? Do you even know I'm allergic to pineapple?" I blurted out. "Yet, you keep buying pineapples because she likes it and never bothers to listen to my woes."
They didn't say anything and it wasn't like I expected them to. I had enough of their bullshit already and even if I wasn't going to be the Luna, I would rather beg the Alpha for the position of a maid.
"And I'm going to meet him," I turned to face Matilda. "Being the Luna is not my style but if that's what gets me away from all of you then I'm willing to."
I walked away from them, back to my room. I had made up my mind to go see the alpha, I was also thinking of starting my life afresh because it was clear that I was never going to be loved here.
After showering and changing into a clean outfit. I made my way to the door to leave for the mansion but realized that the door was locked.
My heartbeat raced as I tried my best to open it, I banged on the door a few times begging to be let out.
"Can you stop yelling? I locked you here on purpose so you don't have to panic,"I heard mom say.
My heart sank, realizing that all this was her handwork. "Mom? Why would you do this? Is seeing me suffer not enough for you?" I cried.
She sighed, "I love you but your sister had a better opportunity to win the alpha's heart. You have to understand this, Mia."
At that moment, I didn't even know what I was feeling but rage swam in me and I was ready to kill them. I closed my eyes, trying to have a conversation with Moriah.
"What are we going to do? We have to go and meet our mate," I told her.
"Why? I thought you wanted nothing with him."
I couldn't believe that she was using this time to blackmail me when it's obvious that I was only struggling for my freedom here.
"If I don't escape now then Matilda would take my place and I would forever be subject to her," I told her.
"Check if the windows are open."
I was happy, almost smacking myself in the head for not having thought of that first. I checked the window, realizing that it was actually opened which was a good way for me to escape out of here.
With Moriah's help, I was about to climb out of the window and since there was a tree nearby, it didn't make it harder than it already was for me.
I heard my parents' voices and ran quickly to hide near our garden. I saw them complimenting her, it even made me more angry when I realized they dressed her up to look like me. It was like looking at myself in the mirror, she did a complete revamp of herself.
But then it also hurt that they were willing to go that far for her but didn't hesitate to lock me in my room.
I couldn't let them get away with it. I thought of what to do to make them pay for everything that they've done to me. I looked around closely then an idea spun into my head, I was able to figure out a way to make her pay.
I found a nail lying not far off from where I stood. I took it and started using it to deflate the tires causing it to be flat. They were about to enter but noticed it.
"What? Who did this?" Mom opened her eyes in agape.
I stood up, feeling victorious by what I had just done. "Now, you won't be able to go."
Matilda's blood boiled, she dragged me back to the living room and she had that power compared to me so it wasn't hard for her to do so.
"Why are you bent on ruining my life?"
"Your life?" I scoffed. "You're the ones who's trying to take my place in something that belongs to me so who's being unfair to who?"
She stared daggers at me and walked over to her bag, taking some notes out of it. She walked back to me and threw it at me.
"Is that what you want, huh? I've given you more than enough so stay out of my life and don't drag opportunities with me."
"Then stay out of mine too."
I was about to walk back outside when she dragged me. We started fighting but Mom was quick to intervene before things escalated quickly.
"Can you both stop it?" She cautioned us. "And I expected more maturity from you, Mia," she stated.
Even now, Matilda was still the right one. I couldn't deal with it anymore. "I'm going to meet him and there's nothing anyone can do to stop me."
Matilda jumped on me after that statement. She dragged my hair and we started fighting. Our parents tried separating us but couldn't do much since we were already so into it.
"Let me go!" I kept yelling.
I took control of her hair, holding it tightly causing her to let out a loud scream but since she was stronger than I was she got hold of my hand and overpowered me.
"Just go to hell, bitch!"
She pushed me and my head hit the wall hard. I turned to look at the back only to realize that I was bleeding and slumped to the ground.
"Mia!" Mom and dad cried, running to me.
I was still breathing and watched Matilda who was feeling a bit scared while Mom cried out loud.
She came closer, checking my pulse. I heard her sigh as she removed my glasses and wore them instead.
She turned to my mom and dad and said, "I'm Mia now."
