"Is it considered betrayal to develop feelings for your best friend's boyfriend? What about when fate intervenes, and he turns out to be your destined mate? You might think it's luck and thank the moon goddess for such a twist of fate. That's what I believed until the love of my life uttered those dreaded words: 'I want a divorce!' As I stared at the pregnancy test in my hands, I realized it was better to keep my secret to myself. My name is Violet, and this is my story."

Chapter 1 One

Chapter 1

"Congratulations, Violet, you're two weeks pregnant!" The doctor's words rang in my ear as I sat up straight.

My eyes widened as I stared at the result he had handed over to me in disbelief. "Y.. You're certain about this, aren't you?" I had to ask for a second time because I needed to be sure.

"Tests can't lie, Mrs. Adrian. It's certain. You're two weeks pregnant," the doctor muttered as he smiled. I could see the relief in his eyes too as he assured me.

Of course, he has to be relieved because Adrian and I were like regular visitors in his hospital. We'd tried all the methods and forms to ensure I was pregnant, but none worked: In Vitro fertilization (IVF), Intra Uterine insemination (IUI)... Name it, we tried all but none yielded results.

"Thank you so much, Doctor, thank you!" I muttered, tears welling in my eyes as I headed outside.

Adrian is going to be excited that I'm finally going to give birth to an heir to the Wolfe. Being married for four years without an heir was something that had really weighed on me, and not just me, the pack also.

I felt like screaming my lungs out as I entered my car, like the world needs to hear that I'm pregnant. Even my guards who had accompanied me to the hospital were looking at me weirdly; they could tell that I'm overjoyed, and I'm quite sure that they'd be wondering what sort of good news would make me this happy. They'll have to wait until I've told their Alpha, and then we'll announce it officially.

"Ma'am, you look so excited. Did he tell you the news yet?" Freya, my closest maid, asked. Of course, I had always referred to her as my friend and not just her...

"Come on, Freya, haven't you heard that curiosity always kills the cat?" Ravenna also chipped in.

Ravenna, too, was someone I regarded as my sister. They were my closest allies. My right hands.

I let out a sigh as Freya's words sank down my chest. Of course, I had waited for years, waiting for Adrian to utter those three words. Days passed, weeks, months, and now years. Adrian not mentioning it alone let it slip from his tongue.

I raised my chin high, my eyes flickering brightly with hope. "Well, he hadn't, but I think he is going to soon," my face beamed with a smile as I touched my tummy. The news there would make him love me more; he had said it himself.

"Really?" Both Freya and Ravenna exclaimed at the same time.

"Yeah," I nodded sheepishly, my face turning into a red blush.

Their scream made my eyes pop widely as I covered my mouth out of impulse.

"Come on, girls, put your voices down," Realizing that they had just screamed too loud, they apologized as they held their lips.

"So, tell us what's the secret?" Freya was always the courageous one to ask, while Ravenna, even with how close she was, always maintained her boundary.

"That will be later, for now, I'll have to tell the Alpha king first," I replied as I glanced at the wall clock. It was time; he was going to be back in like an hour's time.

"Freya, set the massage oil in place, lay the bed, and arrange the room. Ravenna, I'll need your help in the kitchen!" I ordered as I quickly headed to the kitchen, with Ravenna trailing behind me.

I was going to make Adrian his favorite meal, just how he likes it, followed by a massage. I needed to make the moment special, and then, after the intense lovemaking session, I'm going to spill the news to him. That's a perfect plan. I smiled as I removed the last piece of the chicken from the hot oil. Mashed potatoes and fried chicken and gravy are his favorite.

Just as her grandmother had always said, to win a man over, prepare his favorite meal, and he would attain any height for you. She really hoped it was going to work for her this time.

Sitting at the large dining table, Violet was getting nervous, staring at her watch at intervals, her eyes fixated at the door, hoping that large figure was going to burst through anytime sooner.

Staring at the dish before me, it was almost getting cold. It was past two hours from his usual arrival time, and I'm already going tired of waiting.

Suddenly, the door burst open, his masculinity filling the room. He possessed that strong aura; his height was six feet tall, his sturdy frame complemented by chiseled features, including a strong jawline that emphasized his masculinity. His piercing gaze held mine for a fleeting moment, and then looked away so coldly.

"Adrian," I muttered as I stood to my feet walking to the door. I opened my arms to hug him, but instead, he gave me his bag.

"Dinner is ready," I said instead. There was something amiss today, and getting closer to him, I could smell the stench of alcohol from his breath. What had happened? Why would he take to alcohol instead? So many thoughts were running through my head right now.

"I'm not hungry; you can go ahead and eat," he uttered, his voice so cold.

"It's your favorite, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and..." I was still talking when he cut me off.

"I said I'm not hungry!" This time his voice was loud enough to warn me that I had just overstepped my boundaries.

"I'm sorry," I muttered, as I grabbed the bag and ran inside, tears streaking down my eyes.

Adrian had never scolded me; he had never raised his voice to me. What had happened to my husband?

Sitting right on our matrimonial bed, I felt his presence as he took steady steps closer to where I sat.

"Violet, I'm sorry," he muttered lowly. I lifted my eyes to look at him; his hair was a mess, looking as rough as ever. I knew something was going on, but I couldn't tell what.

"It's okay," I brightened up, faking a smile as I prepared my heart to tell him about the news. At least that would relieve the atmosphere from being so tense.

"I've got something to tell you," we both said at the same time, coincidentally.

"Really?" My eyes flickered brightly, knowing he was about to tell me what had put him in such a mood, and then maybe I'll encourage him, and use the pregnancy news to heal his broken soul.

"Go ahead," I urged him, knowing he was going to stick to the 'ladies first' policy.

I watched as his eyes diverted from mine, facing the floor, his hands fidgeting, and then he said the formidable.

"I want a divorce!"

Chapter 2 Two

Chapter 2

I watched as his eyes diverted from mine, facing the floor, his hands fidgeting, and then he said the formidable.

"I want a divorce!" The words pierced through my heart like an arrow, shattering me beyond repair. This can't be true! This is a lie, no. No.. this is a dream!

"What do you mean, Adrian..." I stuttered, trying to affirm if I had heard correctly.

"You heard me, Violet. I want a divorce!" He repeated, saying the words like it meant nothing to him.

"Why? Is there anything I'm not doing correctly, for you want me to change..." I was still trying to talk when he cut me off.

"Enough, Violet! You both know I had zero intention of getting married to you. If not for my father's command, I would have rejected you the very same day the moon goddess revealed that you're my mate," With each word he uttered, it reminded me of the past, like several arrows shot at once.

"But we've been married for four years now... You're addicted to my body, we are compatible, you admitted it yourself," I stuttered, trying to convince him.

"Don't you get it, Violet? I only did what I did imagining that you are her! I wonder how you spent four years of your life knowing the fact that you're living in betrayal," he stood up, facing the door as he spoke.

My jaw gritted as he reminded me of years ago; realization suddenly dawned on me on the part he was trailing. "It's because of her, right?" My voice stuttered, a tinge of hope in me, hoping he was going to say no, hoping he would deny it and say no.

"Yes," the bombshell dropped, and then I knew I've lost Adrian finally. It was finally a lost battle.

"Emily is back, and I'm going to get married to her, so sign the divorce papers, and I'll settle you with a high alimony. It will be enough to make you one of the richest women in our pack," his voice spoke, his cold eyes piercing mine.

To hell with his money, I don't care if I was going to be the richest. The only thing I had sought after was happiness, but ended up in bitterness.

As a young girl, I had been very beautiful enough to capture any man's heart, but I had never been so beautiful to capture only one man's heart, and that was Alpha Adrian. Instead, he had preferred my best friend Emily over me.

I fell in love with Alpha Adrian right from the age of five when he rescued me from a rogue attack. I grew up with every single of my being loving him and hoping to get married to him one day. But my dream was cut short when Emily eventually announced to me that she was in a relationship with Adrian. I had cried bitterly that day, and lived trying to suppress my crush for him, but it only worsened. Just his sight alone was enough to send butterflies buzzing through my tummy.

"So, you're willing to let go of what we shared because of her? Four years of our lives?" I asked in disbelief, reflecting on the past, on how affectionate he had been. The moment of bliss we had spent together cradling in each other's arms.

"I'm willing to walk through fire for her sake!" He said to my face, I've had enough heartbreak already in one day.

"Sign the papers already, we can't keep arguing over this, my decision is final!" He says, walking to the door as he shut the door behind him. The impact of the door crushing through my soul.

I grabbed the pillows clutching it closer to myself as I sobbed quietly.

Awakening to divorce papers by my side, I could feel the weight of my tears in the tiredness of my eyes. It was morning, and the stark reality of the situation hit me like a wave. Adrian was divorcing me for Emily, it wasn't a dream.

"Rise and Shine, Luna, it's time for your bath," Freya and Ravenna cooed, jolting me from my thoughts as I glanced in their direction.

"Luna?" The word echoed in my ears; once the divorce paper is signed, I'm losing that title.

"Adrian wants a divorce," I pointed at the paper, my face plain like it wasn't hurting.

I watched as the smile they once had on their faces disappeared; yeah right? That was the exact look that was planted on my face when he told me.

"What... Why?" Freya stuttered as they sat on the bed, relaxing my head on her shoulder.

"He wants Emily, he's done with me..." The tears I've been battling with finally slipped down my cheeks.

My head was pounding heavily as I walked to the kitchen; I needed to get a cup of coffee to at least relieve me.

Tying my robe firmly, with my hands on my head as I yawned, the sudden noise I heard made me stilled as I opened my drowsy eyes. My eyes popped widely, my throat suddenly went parched as I stared at the figure that was present in the kitchen.

"Is that a way of saying hi to a long-time friend," there she stood, the devil herself, her hands folded across her chest as she glared at me with those eyes, those eyes that had always regarded me as a loser.

I felt my jaw clenched, my fist curled into a ball, it had been years, but the urge to punch my hands across her face every time we meet hadn't stopped.

"What are you doing here..." I grunted.

"What do you think? Making breakfast for my fiancé, the one you stole from me," she smirked, her eyes ogling me.

"You have no right to be here, Emily! Now, leave before...." I was still talking when she cut me off.

"Before what?" Walking close to me, she stared into my face.

"You didn't think I'll come back to take what's mine. I gave you my words years ago. That it wasn't over. You thought I was joking?"

My blood was boiling hot, and I felt like slapping her. "Adrian won't leave me for you!" I defended; yes, he wouldn't when he gets to know that I'm with his child.

"Let's see, Violet. You're still the dumb, naive girl I knew. You think he loves you? He doesn't scream your name when he's sliding into you, does he? That's because he only thinks of me... And where do you think he usually goes once every month? Business trip?"

I gasped as she mentioned Business trip, of course, Adrian had always told me he was going on a business trip, and I'd arrange his bags and kiss him goodbye. My eyes popped widely at the realization.

"You're such a dummy. He'll fill me with his cum and would reluctantly leave to go back to his misery," I was his misery? Yes, he didn't love me, but I was hoping he would someday.

"You're just a pawn, Violet. The pack is his now, and he is crowned the Alpha already. So, we don't need you anymore," I watched as she gave that devilish triumphant laugh.

I saw red, one minute I was fighting the urge not to cry, the next, my hands flew, delivering a thunderous slap on her face.

She gasped, and wanted to retaliate, I waited so as to jump on her. But then it never came, looking up, I felt that presence.

"I've been looking around for you," that baritone voice that had always sent cold shivers running down my spine spoke.

"Oh, I was having a chit chat with Violet, you know it's been four years," she smiled, wrapping her hands around Adrian's neck.

My pulse quickened, hoping he was going to remove her hands from his neck, but instead, he pulled her closely and gave her a peck on the forehead. This wasn't real, was it?

My fist curled into a ball, my jaw gritting, I felt like destroying something. It was their plan all along, for Adrian to get married to me, claim the pack and divorce me?

"I'll sign the damn papers and leave," I muttered, touching my tummy. "Your father is an asshole," I whispered as I walked away from the kitchen back to my room to gather my things.

Chapter 3 Three

Chapter 3

"For the past three hours, I've remained indoors, ignoring the persistent knocks from Adrian and that woman. Refusing to engage, I simply directed them to go to hell," I stated firmly, as I stared at the signed divorce papers, placing them on the table silently hoping Adrian would notice. "Finally free from him, I can only hope this decision brings an end to his misery as well."

After cautiously checking if there was anyone outside, I opened the door to be startled by Freya standing there. "Freya," I exclaimed, taken aback by her unexpected presence.

"Luna, you scared me, I was already getting worried. The Alpha king asked me to look after you," Freya explained.

"Is he home?" I queried.

"No, he went to settle some official duties."

I let out a sigh, relief washing through me that he was not around.

"I've got to go, Freya," I announced, letting her inside as I carried my suitcase. "Let this be between us and never tell the Alpha king about my whereabouts," I made it clear to her as I gave her a last hug, then followed the secret door out from the palace.

My mind tugged at me, there's a place I needed to be. I let out a sigh, putting on my black sleeve, a face cap, and dark lens. I took a u-turn and started driving to the hospital.

"Doctor, I need your help," I begged as I got inside the doctor's office. He was looking at me casually, wondering how on earth I was dressed that way.

"Ignore my dressing, my medical records, can you please keep my pregnancy confidential?" I queried, my eyes meeting his, hoping he would obey.

I watched as his face drew into a confused state. I knew he'd be wondering why I was taking such a step, considering Adrian and I had wanted a baby so desperately.

"Yes, we do keep patients' records confidential, but in your state, you're a Luna married to the Alpha and... I assure you that it's safe aside from your husband and you," he stated.

Damn! This doctor isn't getting it. "I mean, I don't want it revealed to Adrian either," I clarified, and then I saw his brows raised as his eyes widened.

"We are divorced, I'm no longer the Luna, so please do me this favor," I pleaded, trying to convince him despite the hesitation I had seen in his eyes.

"Sure," he gave a bow, and I hoped I would be able to trust him.

The drive to the Redmoon pack was like a five-hour drive. Silvermoon was a large pack, and I was hoping I would get to the Redmoon pack by day. My grandmother lived there. At least that's the only place I know Adrian won't find me, no matter how he searches.

The realization that I had been used as a pawn in crowning Adrian as the next Alpha king had me shattered. Escaping from him was the only way I could heal.

I could bear being a mistress for Adrian just to give him an heir, but to think of the fact that I'd be competing with Emily, my best friend, and also the fact that the bitch was going to make life a miserable hell for my baby, it was better I raised my child as a single mother than raise him in such a toxic atmosphere.

**ADRIAN'S POV**

After returning from my official duty, I had a mix of emotions swirling within me. The weight of leadership still hung heavy on my shoulders, but there was also a sense of satisfaction in knowing that I had fulfilled my responsibilities to the pack.

My heart tugged at me as I walked inside the mansion; the least person I wanted to see was Violet. She had been in her teary state ever since I had made the divorce agreement known to her. I knew she didn't deserve such, but I had come a long way to realize that I needed happiness for myself. I can't keep having my life tied down just to please people. It hurts.

"Freya, has she come out since then?" I queried, slouching on the couch.

"No, my lady has been indoors all day. She refused to eat any meal all day, and I'm scared that she's going to hurt herself," Freya said, panic evident in her voice.

I stood to my feet immediately, rushing to the room. "Violet, open the door," I yelled, but there was no response.

"Violet, I'm sorry, but you have to come out," I was worried for her safety now. Damn the divorce papers. I need to see her in one full piece, hale and hearty.

"Have you seen what you caused?" My wolf tugged at me. "Only the moon goddess knows if she had not committed suicide," he continued, and at that, I felt my breath still.

Violet can't die. No, she can't. With that thought, I didn't realize when I used my inner strength to push the door until it flew open.

I sauntered inside, my eyes searching for that petite figure with red long hair. "Violet," I screamed, my heart caught in my throat. I hadn't been this scared before. Never.

Feeling a heavy weight in my chest, I dragged myself back to the bedroom, each step echoing with emptiness. With a hesitant hand, I reached for the wardrobe door, hoping against hope that her clothes would still be there, a familiar sight to reassure me. But as the door swung open, the empty hangers stared back at me. Her clothes were nowhere to be found.

My shoulders slumped, my heart beating heavily. I hadn't felt this scared before.

"Dude, she left you," my wolf mocked.

"Shut it!" I barked, gritting my jaw with a clenched fist.

Yes, I wanted a divorce... But I had never expected her to agree. I knew Violet to be very protective of me. She had told me on several occasions that she was glued to me and would never think of leaving me.

Dang it! I yelled as I punched the wardrobe, and then walked to the king-size bed.

The white paper that was laying boldly on the bed caught my attention as I ripped it open.

My jaw clenched. It was the divorce paper with her signature boldly signed.

Damn it! I felt injured, my pride tarnished to the ground.

Violet is gone! I kicked the nightstand beside me, watching it crumble to the floor with all its inner contents. But then my eyes zeroed in on one paper. I wonder why it suddenly piqued my interest at a moment like this as I bent to pick it up.

My eyes widened as I read the content. "We must find her," my wolf spoke, and then I headed outside, informing my guards to search everywhere and bring Violet back.
