The Alpha's Regret: Rejecting His Fated White Wolf Mate

Author: Meng Xinyu
Genre: Werewolf
For three years, I played the docile Omega wife to pay off my family's massive debt, waiting every night for my billionaire Alpha mate to come home. But on our third anniversary, he never showed up. Instead, I saw a leaked photo of him playing doting father to his childhood savior's child. He even gave her the exact same exclusive Luna bracelet he later handed to me as a cheap apology. When I threw the fake trinket away and blocked our mental link, his pride was shattered. He unleashed his crushing Alpha Command on me. The sheer pressure forced me to my knees, and I coughed up bright red blood onto the cold marble floor. Just then, his mistress called, crying hysterically about her child's mild fever. "I'm coming right now!" Without a second glance, he stepped right over my bleeding, unconscious body and sprinted out the door to comfort them. He thought I was just a powerless, ruined Omega who would always bow to his authority and accept his miserable leftovers. He didn't know my dormant White Wolf blood was already rapidly healing my wounds, nor did he know I was secretly an elite Healer. Waking up in the hospital, I didn't shed a single tear. I calmly pulled out my phone and sent a message to the High Court's chief counsel. "Execute the Mate-bond Severance Agreement at three o'clock sharp." Tomorrow, I will strip him of his legal rights and leave his empire for good.

Chapter 1

Coleen POV:

The Wellington steak on the long mahogany table had turned completely cold.

On the far wall, the pendulum clock gave a dull, rhythmic thud as both hands met at midnight.

I picked up the silver-plated fork to cut into the hardened meat, but my wrist trembled with exhaustion. The fork slipped from my fingers, clattering sharply against the bone china plate.

I took a slow breath and reached inward, pushing my mental energy through our mate-bond.

Hazen, where are you?

My thoughts slammed directly into an icy, impenetrable mental wall. He had blocked our link completely.

A sharp cramp twisted in my chest. Inside me, my weak Omega wolf let out a desolate whimper, desperate for a sliver of warmth from her Alpha, but met only with dead silence. As an Omega whose family pack had crumbled into bankruptcy three years ago, I had spent every day in the Sharp Pack trying to earn his respect, yet I remained an outsider.

I pushed my chair back and stood up. My knees were stiff from hours of waiting, and I nearly stumbled onto the Persian rug.

Gripping the edge of the table, I fought down a surge of nausea and walked toward the floor-to-ceiling windows.

I pressed my palm against the glass. Below me lay the sprawling territory of the Sharp Pack, glowing with city lights and corporate towers.

A burst of fireworks exploded in the night sky. It was the Moon Goddess festival, and tonight was our third anniversary of sealing the mate-bond.

I pulled my phone from my pocket. The screen lit up, immediately showing a top notification from the pack's private forum.

[HOT]Fated Luna Returns! Alpha Hazen Steps Out With His Secret Heir - Is Coleen's Position As Luna Already Over?

I tapped the screen. A photo filled the display. A tall, broad-shouldered Alpha was draping his tailored black suit jacket over the trembling shoulders of a petite woman. Standing beside her was a young boy.

The man in the photo was my husband, the undisputed Alpha and billionaire CEO of the Sharp Pack, Hazen Sharp.

The woman was Domonique Wilcox. His first love who had returned from overseas days ago, claiming the boy beside her was his pureblood Alpha child.

I stared at the screen, my fingernails digging into my palm until the pain grounded me. I pressed the power button, plunging the phone into darkness.

The mark on the right side of my neck flared with a burning ache. In our world, an Alpha's emotional betrayal triggers a physical backlash through the mate-bond, sending sharp waves of distress along the nervous system.

I slid down against the cold glass, sitting on the floor as I dragged air into my starving lungs.

This morning, Hazen had adjusted his diamond cufflinks, his voice dismissive as he said, "Pack business came up. Cancel the dinner."

His urgent business had been taking another woman and her child to watch the festival fireworks.

A single tear slipped down my cheek, hot and heavy against my skin.

I wiped it away and stood up, leaning against the window frame. I was done begging for scraps of his attention.

I walked across the dim living room and entered the study at the end of the hallway.

I pushed open the heavy oak door. Moonlight spilled across the wide mahogany desk.

Walking over to the desk, I pulled open the bottom drawer and retrieved a yellowed parchment envelope.

Inside was the official draft for The Rejection, recognized by ancient werewolf law to sever a fated bond.

I smoothed the paper onto the desk and uncapped a black pen, hovering the tip over the signature line.

Under our sacred laws, once a marked mate signs and speaks the rejection oath to the Moon Goddess, a soul-tearing agony will follow. But living like a ghost in this penthouse was killing me anyway.

The image of Hazen gently wrapping his coat around Domonique flashed in my mind.

I bit down hard on my lower lip until the metallic taste of blood filled my mouth.

The pen scratched across the paper as I signed my name: Coleen Savage.

The moment the final stroke ended, the mark on my neck throbbed with heat, and my inner wolf let out a sharp cry of grief.

I touched the burning skin of my neck, folded the document with steady hands, and tucked it into the inner pocket of my leather handbag.

I walked out of the study, shutting the heavy door behind me.

Back in the dining room, I picked up the plate of ruined steak and dumped it directly into the trash bin.

The electronic lock at the front door beeped, followed by the heavy, measured tread of leather shoes entering the foyer.

Chapter 2

Coleen POV:

I stood in the shadow of the dining room as Hazen loosened his silk tie and walked into the living room, bringing the cold night air with him.

His Alpha vision caught my figure instantly. His dark brows furrowed, his deep voice carrying its usual tone of command. "Why are you still awake?"

As he stepped closer, his natural scent of crisp cedar rolled over me, but it was suffocatingly tainted with the sickly sweet scent of rose perfume. Domonique's scent.

My stomach churned. I took a step back, widening the space between us.

Hazen noticed the retreat immediately. His jaw tightened, and he crossed the floor in two long strides, towering over me.

His massive frame blocked the light, filling the air with the suffocating pressure of a dominant Alpha.

"Why are you backing away?" he asked, his voice low and edged with warning.

I turned my face away from his intense gaze. "You smell disgusting."

Hazen froze. Irritation flared in his dark eyes, and his hand shot out, his fingers gripping my chin to force my head up.

His rough thumb pressed against my skin. The primal spark of the mate-bond surged through my veins like an electric shock, making my knees weak, but I clamped my teeth shut, refusing to show any reaction.

"Coleen, stop throwing tantrums," he murmured, his tone softening slightly into that patronizing patience he used when dealing with difficult pack members. "There was an emergency in the pack today. I'm exhausted."

I gave a dry, humorless laugh and tried to twist out of his grip. "Pack business? Or the domestic crisis of your fragile first love?"

Hazen's face darkened instantly. His grip tightened on my jaw, bruising the bone. "I told you, Toby had a high fever. Domonique couldn't handle it on her own!"

I slapped his hand away with all my strength. "So you abandoned our anniversary to play daddy to someone else's son?"

Hazen's chest heaved, his eyes flashing with the dangerous amber glow of his Alpha wolf. "She suffered permanent nerve damage saving my life years ago! I have a duty to protect her and the boy!"

I looked at his righteous expression, finding it utterly pathetic.

I turned my back on him and walked toward the bedroom. "Then go stay with her. Don't touch me."

My coldness snapped his control. Hazen lunged forward, grabbing me from behind and slamming his chest against my back.

His lips brushed against my ear in a punishing, possessive nip, his Alpha pheromones flooding the air to force my Omega body into submission.

I thrashed against him, driving my elbow back into his ribs with everything I had, but it was like hitting solid granite.

Just as he moved to pin me against the hallway wall to enforce his physical dominance, his entire body locked up.

A sharp, targeted mental pulse cut through the apartment's barrier. Domonique was reaching out through a high-frequency mind-link, crying for help.

The lust in Hazen's eyes vanished, replaced by instant panic. He let go of me so fast I stumbled, catching myself against the wall.

He pulled a separate human smartphone from his pocket-the private device he kept solely for her.

The moment the call connected, Domonique's tearful voice leaked through the speaker into the quiet hall. "Hazen... Toby's fever is spiking again. I'm so scared..."

Hazen's brow knotted in deep concern, his tone turning gentle and frantic. "Don't panic. I'm coming right now."

He hung up, grabbed his overcoat from the sofa without glancing at me, and headed for the front door.

"Hazen," I called out, my voice flat and completely devoid of emotion.

He stopped with his hand on the door handle, his back to me, sounding impatient. "Coleen, I'll explain when I get back. A child's life is on the line."

I stared at his broad back. "If you walk out that door tonight, don't bother coming back."

Hazen scoffed, brushing it off as an empty threat from a dependent Omega. "You have nowhere else to go. Stop talking nonsense."

The heavy oak door slammed shut behind him.

The apartment plunged back into silence, left with the lingering, nauseating stench of rose perfume.

I walked to the window and watched his black Maybach tear out of the garage, speeding away into the rain.

Chapter 3

Coleen POV:

The next morning, I threw on a plain beige trench coat, grabbed my dark sunglasses, and drove an old Volvo from the underground garage.

Thirty minutes later, I parked beneath the Sharp Pack Medical Center and took the elevator directly to the intensive care wing.

I pushed open the door to Room 402. The sterile smell of medical disinfectant masked the subtle werewolf scents in the air.

My mother, Eleanor, lay in the center of the bed, her face pale and sunken.

She had been poisoned by a rare mutation of wolfsbane years ago, which had shattered her inner wolf's energy core. Her heart was fragile now; any severe shock or emotional strain could damage her pulse and send her into a critical relapse. My parents had always believed my marriage to Hazen was stable and happy. I could not bear to shatter that illusion while my mother's life still hung by a thread.

Hearing the door, my mother opened her eyes weakly and tried to smile. "Coleen... Did Hazen come with you?"

A knot tightened in my throat. I swallowed the bitterness and held her bruised, needle-marked hand. "The pack called an emergency board meeting. He couldn't get away."

Eleanor let out a soft sigh, squeezing my fingers with the little strength she had. "Ever since the Savage Pack collapsed, you've carried too much. I only wish I could see you truly happy in your marriage. Then I could rest easy."

"Mom, don't say that," I whispered, tucking the blanket around her shoulders. "As long as you're alive, as long as you can still smile like this, nothing else matters."

After two hours, the sedatives took hold, and she drifted into a deep sleep.

I quietly slipped out of the room, heading toward the chief physician's office to collect her latest blood panel reports.

As I turned the corner into the VIP pediatric corridor, a pair of familiar voices drifted toward me.

I stopped dead in my tracks. Drawing on the instinct of my hidden bloodline, I pulled my aura inward, erasing my scent entirely.

Through the reflective glass of the nursing station, I saw them clearly.

Hazen was standing outside room 608, still wearing the tailored shirt from last night. Domonique was wrapped tightly in his arms, her face buried against his chest as she sobbed softly.

She wore a loose hospital gown, looking fragile and defenseless, her small hands clutching Hazen's lapels.

Two pack nurses walked past, whispering behind their clipboards.

"The Alpha stayed by her side all night without sleeping a wink," one murmured.

"I heard the kid is his secret heir," the other replied. "Our supposed Luna won't last much longer in that house."

I leaned my shoulder against the cold wall. The words felt like physical stones hitting my ribs, but strangely, the burning anger was gone. Only a hollow chill remained. If my mother heard even a whisper of this, her heart would never survive it. That thought alone kept my claws buried deep inside my skin.

In the reflection, Hazen raised his large hand, gently stroking Domonique's long hair with an endless patience he had never once shown me.

"Stop crying. Toby's fever broke," Hazen's deep voice echoed down the quiet hallway. "I'll assign the pack's best healers to watch him."

Domonique looked up at him, her eyes red and pleading. "Hazen... if I hadn't been forced to leave back then, would we be a happy family right now?"

Hazen went silent for a moment. He didn't deny it; he simply pulled her closer against his chest.

A wave of intense nausea hit my throat. I turned on my heel and walked swiftly toward the public restroom at the end of the corridor.

I stepped into a stall, locked the door, and leaned over the sink, dry-heaving silently as tears hit the cold ceramic basin.

Inside my soul, my white wolf stirred violently against its suppressors, agitated by the betrayal, but I forced it back down. I could not expose my strength here. I could not let my parents' illusion shatter. I could not let my mother's heart break because of me.

Ten minutes later, I turned on the faucet and splashed cold water over my face until the redness around my eyes faded.

I looked in the mirror. The woman staring back was pale, but her eyes were cold and clear.

I took a small glass bottle of scent neutralizer from my bag and sprayed it across my wrists and neck.

Stepping out into the hallway, I walked with steady, even strides back toward the physician's office, acting as if I had seen nothing.

As I passed the pediatric wing, Hazen's sharp Alpha senses detected my footsteps. He turned his head, his gaze locking onto me like a hawk.

Shock flashed across his features when he realized it was me, and his hands dropped away from Domonique's waist.

I kept my eyes fixed forward, walking past them without offering a single glance.

Just as our shoulders were about to brush, Hazen's hand snapped out, wrapping around my wrist in an iron grip. "Coleen? What are you doing here?"
