Chapter 1 WAS I REJECTED

Adeline's pov

**9 PM**

A party was being thrown in the city of Italy for me, Adeline Lioni, as I was set to marry a powerful Alpha.

I hadn't met him yet, nor did I know his name, but my parents assured me he was my mate.In my long, strapless gown, I entered the ballroom. The spotlight was on me as all eyes turned to watch me walk down the stairs.

"Let us give it up for the bride!"

The room erupted in applause, and I felt shivers down my spine. My breath thickened as I swallowed hard.

After fourteen years, I had returned to Italy, and the best they could offer me was a marriage I never wanted. I had never dreamed of this. In fact, I had spent my life dating anyone who wasn't my mate.

"Mior, take the step!" My mom, Gia, screamed.

I took a deep breath and descended the stairs as the crowd cheered loudly, clinking their glasses with their spoons.

**AT THE BIG TABLE**

I, my mom Gia, and my dad Luciano sat at a large table with thirty seats. It was a dinner arranged by the king of the Lion Stone Pack.

The king stood up, cleared his throat, and clanked his golden glass.

"Can I have your attention, werewolves!" he said majestically.

He set the cutlery back on the table and draped his robe behind him, adding,

"It's such a wonderful night. Why? I'll explain it clearly so that it'll be a story for your grandchildren. You see, we have been in cahoots with the neighboring packs known as the Crimstone Pack. A thousand years ago, our ancestors had land to distribute, filled with treasures from each pack. The Crimstone's treasures were very different from ours, and there couldn't be a clash of treasures. If they were seen, who would differentiate them? " He paused for a moment before continuing.

"Given the circumstances, only one pack could claim the land. Games and contests were held to determine the winner, but they were unfruitful. Eventually, they had to fight for it, which is how our pack ended up killing the 50th king of the Crimstone Pack. Since then, we've never made peace. But now, there's a new king on the throne, King Matteo, who has chosen to make peace with us by marrying a girl from our pack. Thank you very much, Adeline!"

"Cheers to Adeline!" he roared, and the room erupted in cheers.

Gia, sitting next to me, squeezed my hand under the table and gave me a wide smile. But as soon as her gaze shifted away from me, a sly smile appeared on her face.

**NEXT MORNING**

**WEDDING CEREMONY; KING MATTEO'S MANSION**

I was in my room, preparing for the wedding. The mansion was bright and filled with a sweet atmosphere. Everyone was happy for the new bride. But I wasn't happy.

I felt nervous, and what made me more anxious was the number I was dialing.

"Pick up! Why the hell won't you pick up? I need you now!" I mumbled.

I groaned loudly, threw my phone onto the bed, and buried my face in my hands.

"I can't do this! I know I'm going to be the sacrifice for a long-term peace settlement, but what about my feelings? I can't do it!"

"What can't you do, my love?" Gia asked with a blank expression.

I turned my gaze to Gia and shook my head.

"What can't you do, my love?"

I replied, my breath shaky, "Everything, Mom! I can't do this; I can't continue this marriage. I know I'm going to be a sacrifice, but what about my feelings?"

Her lips parted. "No... My dear, don't say this. It's an abomination. You don't want to reject an Alpha, do you?"

"Why can't I? This... this... that is an abomination. When will I be free of this burden? I didn't come into this world to become a puppet. I appreciate what you've done for me, but... Mom, let me make my own decisions for once!" I pleaded, wrapping my hands around hers.

Gia bit her lip and blinked rapidly. "No... You can't say this now! We've prepared so much for this wedding! Didn't you see the king? For the first time, we were highly honored. Please don't take this away from us!"

"Why? Why? Why do I have to be the one? Why can't..."

Gia cut me off and screamed, "Enough! Must she do all the work? You've hidden in Seattle for a long time. We let you experience teenage life peacefully and didn't mate you with an omega. You should be thankful, but instead, you're acting like an ingrate!"

Gia adjusted her dress and retorted, "Don't make me explain the consequences if you reject him. Maybe you'll die, buried in the guilt of ruining us! I must leave now. When you're done acting like a baby, they'll come for you!"

I clutched the bedsheets as I heard the door slam.

"I hate this family!" I screamed, throwing a pillow onto the floor.

Suddenly, my phone rang. I grabbed it and mouthed, "Finally!"

**THE WEDDING GROUND**

The wedding ground is a sight to behold as Twinkling fairy lights cascade from the ceiling, casting a warm, golden glow over the room. Delicate white and blush pink floral arrangements adorn each table . The atmosphere is one of joyous celebration, filled with anticipation for the special day but not for me, suddenly the omega priest at the front of the aisle signaled for them to bring me forth.

Just as I took the next step, a deep voice came from behind.

"The Alpha won't

be marrying this young woman! I will!"

Chapter 2 LET US BREATHE THE WEDDING NIGHT

Adeline's pov

I raised my veil, trying to process what I had just heard. That wasn't the voice of my love. Who was marrying me now?

Before me stood a man in a grey suit, his hair styled neatly to the left, and his face adorned with freckles.

I heard whispers from the women behind me. "Beta Zain!"

"I thought Alpha Matteo was marrying her. She's too beautiful to end up with someone like him. I heard he killed five men before coming to this wedding!"

"What about our Alpha? He's killed more than that, but he deserves her."

"What are these people thinking? How is marrying a serial killer better?" I thought, scratching my head.

Beta Zain walked toward me and cupped my cheeks. "You look even more beautiful than the last time I saw you. The Alpha didn't reject you; consider this a trade by barter."

Stepping back, he announced, "I have to run some errands for my Alpha, which means the wedding will be delayed." I will be marrying Adeline Lioni as a member of the Crimstone pack!"

Gasps filled the room, especially from the members of the Lionstone pack. They had all celebrated because I was supposed to marry an Alpha, the strongest and most formidable member of their pack.

"Why did he reject her?" was the question on everyone's mind.

The Crimstone members looked disappointed, but I was actually relieved. If I had to marry the Alpha, convincing or killing him would have been far more difficult. A Beta in the line of succession made things easier for me.

"No!" A loud voice pierced the air.

As expected, it was Gia, and she looked furious as she stormed down the stairs.

"What is going on? Continue with the wedding! No one stops the wedding!" she shouted.

Beta Zain's lips curled into a smile. "The mother of the beautiful bride! It's a pleasure to finally meet you. Well, as ordered by the Alpha, I'll be marrying your daughter!"

Gia's eyebrows arched in disbelief. "Orders from the Alpha? No, your Alpha had plans to marry my daughter. We came here for an Alpha, not a Beta!" she screamed, and everyone gasped.

"Ruin him, Mom, so I can finally get out of here!" I thought.

Beta Zain shrugged. "Those are his orders, not mine. I have a lot of work to do. You have no choice but to let me marry her if you want to ensure a peaceful resolution between the packs!"

He turned and left as everyone began to leave from the spectacle.

"Mom! What do I do now? You didn't plan on me being rejected, did you?" I whimpered, feigning concern.

Gia sighed and rubbed her forehead. "Okay... I know how to fix this. We'll fix it. I'm not letting my child marry a Beta. We've come this far, and I won't back down!"

"What do we do, Mom?"

Gia looked deeply into my eyes and said, "You only have one job: convince the Alpha!"

**THE HALLWAY**

I wandered the hallways, searching for neither the Alpha nor the Beta. I was looking for a place to hide, waiting for my love to rescue me.

"This gown is so obnoxiously long! I never wanted to get married in werewolf style. I hate it!" I grumbled.

While holding up the gown, I missed a step and fell flat on the ground.

"Ouch! Adeline 1, gown 1," I winced in pain.

When I looked up, a hand reached out towards me. A calm voice said, "Do you need any help?"

I blew some air to push my hair from my face and gazed at the man.

His striking green eyes captivated me with their depth and intensity. They are perfectly framed by dark, well-groomed hair that contrasts elegantly with his fair complexion. His suit, a classic navy with a subtle sheen, accentuates his tall, athletic body.

I accepted his help and took me by his soft hand.

"You okay?" he asked as he helped me up.

I nodded and then noticed a small spot on my gown. Paint ruined the white fabric on the floor.

"Oh no! Noooo. Mom's going to kill me! I should have just hidden in the restroom. I should've swallowed my pride and hidden there!" I groaned, indifferent to his presence.

"Why are you hiding?" he asked.

Frustrated, I replied, "Well, I was waiting for that idiot to elope..." I halted when I realized I had said too much.

I gave him a polite nod and said, "I'm sorry, but I have to find my Alpha. Thank you very much!"

I started to walk away, but before I had taken five steps, he called out, "Luna Adeline, be my guest!"

Confused, I turned around. "Luna! No one has ever called me that! Is that the..."

He was now casually putting his hands in his pockets, wearing a devilish smirk.

A group of maids passed by us and, upon reaching the man, bowed their heads respectfully and said in unison, "Honor to our King Alpha!"

What? I had just met my husband and nearly revealed half of my plans. Realizing my blunder, I nervously ran away. But before I could get far, he caught up with me and grabbed my hand.

"Now let's get married, Adeline!"

"Help! Let me go!"

---

**THE ROYAL ROOM**

After the wedding was concluded, vows were being exchanged and we were escorted to our room, I didn't say a word since our accidental meeting. Maybe I was too traumatized to speak.

Gia was more than happy because her honor had been restored. In fact, she didn't spare me a glance after the marriage because she was busy basking in the glory.

Matteo closed the door behind him and I sat quietly on the bed, fiddling with my fingers while staring blankly at the wall.

Matteo noticed my silence and mumbled, "Let's see how long you stay quiet."

He moved in front of me, squatting down to hold my hands. He gently brushed a strand of hair behind my ear.

"Adeline! Who is your lover?" he asked bluntly.

I glanced at him quickly before turning my gaze back to the bed. "You don't need to know," I said, breaking the silence.

"Wow!" he said, standing up and walking toward the royal table. He poured wine into two glasses, took a sip from one, and handed it to me.

Without hesitation, I knocked the glass out of his hand, shattering it into pieces.

Matteo rolled his eyes and threw his own glass away. "I know how to deal with people like you, but I can't wait..."

He removed his shirt, revealing well-defined abs that seemed to beg for my attention. Matteo lifted my chin. So I had no choice but to look at him.

"You see that? Those bad boys are going to feel every part of your skin, especially the big juicy ones!"

He pushed me onto the bed with my back against it. I gasped and tried to escape, but he pinned me down.

"Matteo... Let me go! Please!" I screamed, but his grasp was too strong. He was an Alpha, after all!

He leaned in close to my neck, his heavy breath sending shivers down my spine. His hair fell over my face.

He whispered, "My wolf is hungry. He needs someone to satisfy its urges. But I'll make you a deal: if your lover comes to save you, I won't de

vour you. But if he doesn't, you'll be left gasping for air!"

Chapter 3 SOMETHING TO SCARE THE ALPHA

Adeline's pov

I trembled in fear as he trailed his plump lips on my neck. Anxiety was eating me up by the second he kissed me. I just hope he comes home.

I whispered softly, " Please let me go, Matteo! I can make it up to you another day"

He raised his head and placed his hands on my lips. It was a rollercoaster of emotions in my head.

As he was about to kiss me, someone forcefully opened the door and screamed, "Let her go!" "

Matteo paused and mumbled before jumping off my body, " Just about time! "

I signed and looked over to my left. It was my lover, Elio.

But what amazed me was the name Matteo called Elio. " Half brother! "

Words refused to come out of my mouth as I managed to get up. Why did he call Elio his half brother? Is this for real?

He walked towards Elio and gave him a nice and gentle pat on his back. I could feel the anger rising in Elio's veins. If there was one thing he hated, is another man touching me?

" What is this, Matteo? I told you to stay away from her! Now this is how you wanna repay everything I've done for you by marrying the only woman I've ever loved," He snarled, in a threatening pose.

Wait. Matteo knew about my and Elio's relationship a long time ago? Did he marry me on purpose? Matteo acted a little indifferent, which bothered me a lot.

I ran over to Elio and stood behind his back. "Hang in there, honey! " He assured making me feel calm and less tensed.

As I looked over his shoulder, the look Matteo gave pierced through my skin, making me slowly look away.

"Let's just go! " I muttered.

Before he could reply, Matteo turned around and said with a little chuckle, " Go on! Go on with my wife! If you want to take her, today's a very bad day. I'm a good mood so I can very much cut you into pieces rather than burning your body "

What he said send chills down on my spine. I felt ice cold on my back. He wasn't serious, right? Do they do that in Italy? I get he's a werewolf, but he's still under the law.

Just to be sure, I whispered to Elio, "He can't do that, can he? "

As predicted, he heard my voice and responded to it, saying,

"You can try me, Adel! I can't let go of what is mine. I married you and I won't hesitate to shed some blood if anyone gets in the way of my plans! "

Elio turned to face me and took me by my hands, wrapping his in mine. He stared deeply into my eyes and uttered softly,

" Let us have a little chat. You can have a talk with the people in the mansion. Have them show you around! "

I didn't want to go, but wanted to have my answers. Are they really half brother?. Even though Matteo threatened me with deadly plans, I wasn't going to back down easily.

I answered hesitantly, " I can't leave you here. What if he hurts you?"

Matteo chuckled. " Should I leave the room for you and my bride? Besides, the bigger problem on your hand isn't me but Elio! "

He slightly pushed me and mouthed, " Go! "

As I shook my head and leaned onto him to give him a kiss, Matteo once again stopped me with his threats.

" They that and I will have his skin used as leathers for the horses! "

I nodded, sniffed, and silently left the room.

*****

I walked around the halls looking for my mom because I needed to tell her the truth.

" Where's mom? " I stammered.

It wasn't dawn yet, so she couldn't have, in a million years, gone home. After some minutes, I finally saw her precisely where I thought I would see her, boasting about her qualities I never inherited from her.

"Yes.. yes. She'll have a baby soon and I pray the baby looks like me! " She said proudly and the women beside her laughed.

" Um... Mom" I interrupted, but she acted like she was unaware of my presence.

" Everything just works out for us. I even trained her how to give him rough sex like a pro! "

" Mom... Ew! " I spat in disgust.

She dismissively shook her head and uttered to the woman, " Excuse me for a bit! I'll be with you in two minutes! I heard the chank juice is nice! "

She averted her gaze to me and stared at me with dissatisfaction.

" What? What? What do you want from me, Adeline? Why do you hate me so much? Your dad had his moment because he's now a right hand to our Alpha. Let me have mine, you enemy of progress! "

" what? When did dad become a beta? Why are you guys receiving unwanted favours? " I frowned.

My mom didn't very much like my statement and heaved a sigh.

" If you have nothing to say, I'll be over there drinking chank juices! " She snarled and tried to leave.

I raised my voice to stop her, but Matteo appeared in front of her, cutting me off mid-way. Thank God he wasn't shirtless this time.

He acted and looked so innocent, but in just 3 hours of meeting him; he turned out to be a disgusting, irritating, dangerous and perverted person.

My Mom charming as never smiled so gracefully at his presence.

" Honour to you, my alpha! " She bowed and looked over to me, signaling me to bow. Hell no, was I going to bow?

I folded my arms across my breast and averted my gaze.

"Ungrateful brat! " I heard my mom curse.

," Mother-in-law, you need to rest so as your daughter. You've done so much for her. I can already sense the training you've given her! " He replied.

" It's a pleasure, Alpha! I'll be leaving now! Have fun with my daughter!" She smiled and left.

I frowned and kissed my teeth. " What are you doing? I'm here to tell my mom the truth. I can accept the consequences, but still I don't know about you. Are you afraid? "

He chuckled, " Interesting, but the last time I checked, you should be the one in hot water "

' I have to go! Stay in my room till I get back" He left my presence but stopped halfway to say,

"Most importantly, don't try anything stupid! "

*****

I was in the Matteo's room waiting for him to be back because I wanted to discuss an urgent matter with him. I wanted to have my room so I could have some alone time with Elio.

Nevertheless, I tried so hard to find him after Matteo had gone, but to no avail. Just like he has disappeared into thin air.

Not long, someone came into the room. I jumped off the bed in excitement after seeing it was Elio.

I hugged him and he responses very well. He grabbed my butt and kissed me on the lips, just like he always does. He positioned his left hand on my neck and controlled how my lips moved.

I got afraid and said, " Elio? Should we do this? I'm

scared of Matteo! "

" There's something that'll scare him. Let's get pregnant now! Let's have a baby! "

" What? "
