The Alpha king's Stubborn Mate

"Come on, Alessia, we are going to be late!" My twin sister shouted at me, I rolled my eyes and started to hop as I tried to get my shoes on without sitting down. I huffed out in annoyance, It's not my fault that we will be late in the first place.

"Why didn't you just leave without me? I can't believe that I woke up so late. Goddess, I am still exhausted." I replied, trying my best to hurry.

"Well, it's partially my fault. I shouldn't have dragged you to that party knowing that the ceremony is today, and you shouldn't have allowed me to take you there. Everyone is probably there, already." She made it sound as if she didn't care. Rolling my eyes, I was finally able to put my shoes on. Nodding my head, I grabbed her arm and hurriedly made my way downstairs. I stopped in my tracks when I noticed that my parents were still here, I thought that they would have left by now.

"It's a ceremony we are attending, Alessia, not the damn supermarket." Mom said, as she took a good look at what I was wearing.

"Leave her alone, Sonya. It's only jeans. You know that she doesn't like dresses, unlike Anya, who is always so fashionable." Dad said while giving me two thumbs up. He winked at me and nodded his head in approval, letting me know that it was alright for me to wear whatever I wanted. Smiling, I made my way over to him and gave him a hug. He chuckled as he returned it.

"Enough with the sappiness already. Let's go. You girls are eighteen years old already, so I hope that you find your mates there. I just pray that it will be someone from the higher ranked wolves." There was never a win, whenever it came to Mom. She wanted things to be perfect. The perfect family, the perfect daughters. She's a bit annoying, but I love her regardless.

"And what if I am mated to an Omega?" I asked, wanting to know exactly where I stood. She only laughed and wiped away the fake tears from her eyes.

"You're so funny dear, just like your uncle, may his soul rest in peace. Now, let's go. We can't afford to waste any more time. I would have been there already, but Paul wanted me to wait for you two." That's good to know; we got in the car and made our way towards the castle. The one belonging to Alpha King Nicholas Pierce.

I have heard stories about him, but I have never seen him in person. No one has, I felt sorry for whoever his mate is, knowing for a fact that if the stories that I heard about him were true, it's definitely going to be a rough ride.

His father had decided that it was time to hand the title over to him, but at the same time, the ceremony also stood another purpose, and that's to find your mate.

Unmated wolves from all over the world would attend, hoping to find their other half. I, on the other hand, couldn't care less about that. If I find my mate, then that's it. I don't even think I can stand being in a relationship.

I would like to explore my sexuality, but being werewolves, you are only tied to one person and one person only. That sucks, yes, but it's something that I had to deal with.

"We are here, come on, hurry." Mom said as the car came to a halt. I got out, and Anya instantly latches unto my arm, making me pout.

"Personal space." I reminded her, but she only rolled her eyes and pulled me along with her. When we got to the gate, two buff looking guys were there, searching those who were already there waiting to get in and asking questions. I growled at myself, not liking this at all.

"IDs and bags." One of the men said. I handed him my bag after I showed him my ID. He started to rummage through my things, making me wish that I could take it from him. I already organized the items in my bag, I hated it when people went through my things, but this was important, so I didn't have any say in it.

"Go on in." The man said after he handed me my belonging. I nodded my head, not thanking the dickhead, and walked away from him. Mom, Dad and Anya soon followed me.

"Okay girls, this ceremony is also to have fun. But, I also hope that you meet your mate. Be sure to take a look around and meet us back here at 1am the latest, or we are leaving without you." Dad said, with a chuckle. I smiled at Dad and nodded my head.

"Sure thing pops, come on Anya, let's get busy." As we entered the castle, it was already filled with pack members entering the great hall. A massive space located inside the castle, that one can hold a formal function such as this. A microphone suddenly chipped in, making me hurry to find a space before it gets filled.

"Ladies and gentlemen, thank you so much for attending my son's ceremony. As you can tell already, this is also a mating ceremony, so you are free to search for your mate as well." The voice of the former Alpha, spoke. I kept quiet along with the others, just so that I wouldn't miss anything.

"There are numerous foods and drinks here, so please help yourself to anything you want, and remember you can also take some home as well. Tupperware will be provided for that reason. If you need to use the bathroom, just ask a guard and they will accompany you there. Now, let's get this going." Everyone clapped, thrilled with what they were hearing so far. Good, I can't say I didn't come here for the food.

"My son, Nicholas Pierce, had never shown his face outside these walls. He stayed here for private reasons. So, it's a surprise that he chose tonight as the night to do so! If I might add, I'm happy that we were able to have this ceremony. It's one of the largest here in Bedburg Germany. Thank you all once again for being here, and I'll leave it up to you after this." Applause could be heard once more, thereafter, everyone became quiet as they listened to the next speaker.

I was so focused on what was being said that I accidentally bumped into someone. My wolf Katy howled with joy, which told me that I had probably found my mate. When I turned to the person, my mouth fell open, which had me wondering if this was a sick joke the goddess was playing on me.

"You're my mate!?" I shouted, shocked at what I was seeing. The man released a boisterous laugh, which had some people turning their heads to see what the commotion was about.

"I would be honored, dear, but I'm seventy-five years old, I don't think my actual mate would like that very much." Breathing a sigh of relief, I nodded my head and smiled.

"Sorry about that, my wolf got excited for nothing, I guess." He smiled back at me after I said that.

"It's ok, but maybe it's someone in my family that's your mate. I'm related to the former Alpha, I'm his brother. I just don't like to be treated as royalty, so I snuck in this crowd to be normal for once." Well, that explains it. Wait a damn minute...

"If you say that I'm mated to a family member of yours, who could that be?" I asked, not sure if this was a trick or not.

"That would be me." I heard a voice say, I turned and saw one of the most handsome men I have ever seen in my entire life, he had dark brown hair and a mixture of green and blue eyes. His face was set in a Stoic expression, which seems to work well on him. He's a little taller than me, given the fact that I'm 5'9. I think he's 6 something.

My cheeks burned at the way he was watching me, no one had ever looked at me like he was right now.

"My name is Nicholas Pierce, you're my mate." I did the next best thing that I could think of.

I fainted.

I woke up in a huge, comfortable bed. At first, I was confused as to where I was. It happened to me a lot when waking up somewhere new. But, when I recalled what happened earlier, I felt the embarrassment slowly making its presence known. My heart dropped to the pit of my stomach, making me groan as I shook my head in despair.

My cheeks burned as humiliation washed over me, I couldn't believe that I had fainted in front of my mate like that, so much for first impression.

Deciding to take my mind off things for now, I started to look around. The room itself was fit for a princess, with wide space and luxurious furniture. I felt jealousy taking its toll on me when I realized that I could never have such a life. Yes, my parents' house was huge, but this was beating it by a mile.

After I got over my momentary snooping, my eyes became wide when I realized that I was probably brought here by Nicholas, my mate. Throwing the comforter aside, I slid out of the California king bed and breathed a sigh of relief that I was still in my clothes.

I hurriedly made my way towards the door, yanking it open and scaring myself in the process. I was expecting it to be locked, but that's not the case here.

Frantically searching for a way out, I ran towards the first direction that I spotted. I didn't care if anyone saw me, I just wanted to leave.

Stopping in my tracks, I groaned when I realized that I was lost. This castle was huge. How could a first timer such as myself find the way out?

'Ask one of the guards that's making their way towards us.' Katy said, my eyes became wide, and I thanked her for coming up with such a brilliant idea.

"Um, excuse me..." I didn't get to finish what I was saying, as the guards suddenly stopped and pulled their swords out.

"Peasant!" They shouted, making me narrow my eyes. With hands on my hips, I started to think about something that would be a good come back. But, right as I opened my mouth to say something, they stopped and started to sniff the air.

"Oh, we are sorry, Luna. You aren't a peasant, please don't breathe a word to Alpha King Nicholas about this. We will do anything you ask." Wow, okay, this was easier than I thought.

"I want to leave here. Can you please show me the way out?" I asked in a sweet tone, even though deep inside me, I wanted to rip their throats out for calling me a peasant.

"B-But, Alpha King Nicholas will be angry." I waved them off, letting them know that it was alright.

"I won't say anything to him, as long as you know how to keep your mouths shut. Now, how about it?" Seems as if they were debating for a minute, sending mind links back and forth. I folded my arms and tapped my foot, waiting for them to stop wasting time.

"Oh, alright, Luna. We will accompany you out. Please follow us." After a brief celebration, I followed them until I was outside. The place was packed with guards looking in our direction, but once they saw that I wasn't any threat, they went back to what they were doing.

"Fuck." I said, as I stopped and started to survey the place. How the hell am I going to get out of here?

"My parents told my sister and I to meet back here at one, I seem to have overslept. Is there a way for me to leave here undetected?" They both looked at each other before nodding their heads. I could tell that they didn't want to do this, but I didn't care. I only wanted to leave here, that's all I cared about.

"Yes Luna, Alpha King Nicholas has many vehicles you can choose from. I'm assuming you have your license right?" Nodding my head excitedly, they told me to follow them once again. What a set of losers.

I could have shifted and run, but that wasn't safe during the day. The pathway was clear, and we had countless hikers nowadays. Some, were humans, so we had to thread carefully. Even though they knew about our existence, humans were unpredictable.

When we arrived at the garage, my eyes almost fell out of their sockets as I stared at the various cars, jeeps, and motorcycles that were here. From the looks of it, I could tell that they were expensive as well. I didn't know which one to select from, nor did I have the time to waste.

"I'll go with that Harley-Davidson right there." What I said seemed to shock them, they thought that I didn't know anything about riding, they thought wrong. I was somewhat a tomboy, I also like things dangerous.

"Okay, the keys are over here. He kept most of them in this safe as a just in case we had an emergency." Nodding my head, I was silently urging him to hurry. It seemed as if he was moving at a snails pace, which made me wonder if he was purposely doing this. My eyes narrowed when he finally opened the safe and started searching for the key as if he didn't know which one.

He didn't know that I figured out his tactics, so I hurriedly made my way over to him and grabbed the key that I was sure was for the motorcycle.

"Wait a minute, how did you know?" The man asked, looking a bit shocked. I smirked at him and grabbed the helmet.

"I know things, don't take me for a fool. Tell your Alpha King I said thanks for the ride and that I'll be seeing him soon. Make sure you let them open the gate for me, or I'm going to bash your head in with a bat next time I see you." He quickly nodded his head and did what I asked.

Finally, the freedom that I longed for. Speeding through the gates, I chuckled as I rode away like my life depended on it. While sending a silent prayer the goddess, praying that I won't see my mate for now. That's all I could ask for.

(Nicholas)

"What do you mean, she's gone!?" I shouted at the guard who came to deliver the bad news. I had no idea what could have scared my mate so bad that she took off running. I made sure to give her own space, the best room in the castle so that she could be comfortable.

Then, I went to the kitchen and spoke to some omegas about making a special breakfast for her. When she woke up, she could have something decent to eat. I wasn't that of a bad guy, so I have no idea why she would run the moment she woke up.

I even spoke to her family about being her mate! Told them that she was going to be staying with me from now on and that they were welcome to stay here as well. I wanted to make a good impression, but the little she devil ran, leaving me sulking and wondering what was going on.

"I have no idea how she was able to leave, your highness. But, the guards at the gate told me that she rode off on one of your motorcycles." Hmm, I didn't even care that she took my bike, since whatever I have now belonged to her. Sighing, I shook my head and ran my hand through my hair. I have to find her, though, and bring her back, even if she puts up a fight.

"Tell Cedric that I want to see him in the meeting room. I would like to locate her as soon as possible." The guard nodded his head and left to do my bidding. I sighed once again, but I couldn't believe that she had left like that. Anyone would be lucky to be in my presence. Just yesterday, at the ceremony, I received fifty phone numbers from both men and women who wanted to be with me.

If I were a man whore, I would definitely call those women. I wasn't gay nor bi, so I burnt the numbers that I got from the men.

I'm now in the meeting room, waiting for Cedric to come. He's a huge black guy with muscles going on for miles, the only thing that was a throw off was the beard, hated that shit. I spoke to him constantly about getting rid of it, but he said that his mate loves it, so he doesn't have any other choice but to keep it.

"Sorry I'm late, your highness, I was busy..." I held my hand up, cutting him off.

"I can smell your scent to know exactly what you were busy with, Cedric, so there's no need to explain. Just show me the footage of how my mate escaped." He nodded his head and smirked, while sitting down in a seat opposite mine.

He turned his laptop to me and showed me a video of her opening her room door.

"As you can see, she got lost and asked for help. Phillipe and Cyrus are to be blamed. They helped her escaped, but I can tell that they didn't want to do it, if they were being forced to comply." I scowled as I watched the jackass's making their way towards the garage. It seemed as if they were slowing down a bit, but she somehow figured out their ploy and grabbed a key.

My breath itched when she got on the bike and started it. Damn, she's so sexy.

"I'm going to talk to them and Cedric? Please gather any information you can about her whereabouts and which pack she's from. I want to find her soon." After he left, I sent a mind link to my stupid guards, telling them to meet me here. I couldn't believe that they allowed her to leave just like that. What were they thinking?

It didn't take long for them to arrive, one look at me, and they could tell that I was angry. Who wouldn't be?

"I have seen evidence of you two assisting my mate, what are the reasons for you doing so?" I asked, the sound of my voice taking on an intimidated edge to it. They shivered when they realized that I wasn't pleased with their work.

"Alpha King Nicholas, we can explain. We made a mistake and called her a peasant, and she didn't like it, so she demanded that we help her if we didn't want her to tell you." Rolling my eyes, I sighed at how stupid these two were. What kind of training did they receive to bring out such idiotic behavior?

"I'm disappointed in you two. You knew that there were cameras all over, yet you acted stupidly because you didn't want her to tell me? Mistakes can happen, you know? It wouldn't matter to me if you called her a peasant. What mattered the most, was that you two should have sent me a mind link, letting me know that she was escaping instead of helping her to get away!" My temper began to flare when my wolf Ajax started to fight for control. He wanted very much to take over and snap their heads clean from their necks, but I couldn't allow that to happen, even if I wanted it to.

"Jackass's, you two are nothing but jackass's! If it was any other guards, I'm sure they would have done differently." Well, that wasn't true. In the video, I could see the guards at the gate opening it for her and letting her leave. Every so often I wondered if they were always stupid, or my mate just brought it out in them.

"As for your punishment, you are to assist Cedric in finding her and her family. Bring them here when you do, failure to do so will bring you twenty lashes each. Starting today, you two are relieved from your guard duties." I could tell that they were about to cry, but that's their business, not mine.

If my mate thought that she would run from me, she thought wrong. I won't stop until she's right back where she belongs.
