Chapter 1 0001

Rami's POV

"Get her!"

I couldn't stop running. My lungs burned, my legs screamed, but I just couldn't stop. They were right behind me.

Three of them. Three men.

I didn't know who they were - hell, I didn't even know what they were. They looked human, but...

"Augh!"

I tripped on a branch and went face-first into the dirt. Pain shot through my body as I struggled to get up, but a hand grabbed my wrist, yanking me back.

"You bitch!" a deep, husky voice growled.

Then - smack - his hard slap cracked across my face, sending me tumbling backward. My vision blurred, and before I could recover, another arm snatched a fistful of my hair and dragged me across the forest floor.

I screamed in pain, thrashing violently, but he lifted me like I weighed nothing and threw me over his shoulder like a sack.

"Let go of me! I didn't do anything! Please, let me go!" I cried out, my voice echoing into the empty trees. No one would hear. We were in the middle of nowhere, deep in the forest.

They had driven for hours - since the sun had started to set - and now the moon was high in the sky. We were far, far from the city.

Earlier, they had stopped to stretch and take a piss. I was tied up in the back seat, but they got too comfortable, not realizing I had been quietly working the ropes off my wrists.

When they weren't looking, I made a run for it. I hadn't even gotten far before a sharp, animalistic growl cut through the silence. One of them. It sounded like a beast, but it came from a human mouth. That's when I knew. They weren't human.

They chased me down fast, moving like predators. And now I was back in their grip.

"Put tape on her mouth. Use chains this time," one of them barked, shoving me into the back seat.

Another ripped a piece of duct tape. When he leaned in to place it over my mouth, I jerked my head back and forth, refusing to give him the chance.

That pissed him off.

His hand shot to my neck, squeezing tightly.

"Don't piss me off," he sneered. "I'm not as patient as the others. I'll kill you in a second."

Then suddenly, his eyes... they changed. Right in front of me, his irises shifted from a dull brown to a glowing red, making my blood run cold.

I froze, too terrified to move. He pressed the tape over my mouth, then locked thick metal chains around my wrists and ankles.

Unlike the other two, who were loud, aggressive, and violent from the beginning - this one was quiet. He was always watching and obeying orders but said little to nothing. That's why his warning scared me the most. I couldn't tell what was going on in his head.

As he secured the chains around my ankles, I felt his hand linger for a moment too long.

He wasn't staring at me as I stared at him. No, he was staring down at my legs, which made my skin crawl.

Then, slowly, his fingers began to trail up my exposed leg, and my breath caught in my throat.

I flinched, trying to shift away from his touch, but his hand tightened around my leg, holding it in place.

My eyes widened as his hand moved higher, gliding up my thigh so close to the edge of my skirt, sending a shiver down my spine.

I shook my head desperately, my breathing heavy through the tape. I could feel what he was about to do.

"Let's move," one of the others ordered, and just like that, he let go.

I sighed in relief, nearly choking on my own breath. But the fear didn't leave.

Who knew what awaited me in whatever place they were taking me to?

At the end of the day, they were still all men, and I was stuck with them in the middle of nowhere.

Whatever awaited me wasn't good. And if I didn't figure a way out soon, I wasn't going to get another chance.

We drove for hours again, deeper into the night. My eyes felt heavy, and no matter how hard I tried to stay awake, the exhaustion eventually won. I dozed off...

Only to be jolted awake by a sudden, violent shake.

"Shît, watch out!" one of the men yelled from the front seat as the van swerved.

The tires screeched, and the van tilted sideways. It lost control and stumbled down the hill. My body slammed against the metal walls of the van as we rolled, and then...

BAM!

The van crashed into something solid - maybe a tree - and everything went still.

My thoughts were still all over the place when the back door burst open, and I was yanked roughly to the ground. My knees scraped against the gravel, and I winced.

"You dumbass! I told you to slow the f*ck down!"

"Don't start with me - she was distracting me and you know it!"

"She's chained and gagged, you idiot! How the hell is that distracting?!"

Their voices blurred together as they argued, both of them limping, one clutching his side and the other bleeding from his forehead.

But then they paused, seeing a car pass by with its headlights shining bright.

It was clear they hadn't expected to see a car driving in such a remote area.

So when the car stopped and the driver stepped out, they became defensive.

He didn't look like them. He was tall, calm, and dressed in a tailored black suit.

I began to struggle, hoping to attract his attention. The men quickly moved to block my view, growling at the driver to leave.

But the driver calmly opened the passenger's door, and another man stepped out.

He was also wearing a black suit, and the moment he started walking towards us, I noticed their snarls lowered to murmurs.

They were scared. But why? I didn't care to answer that.

I saw this as my chance and began thrashing violently, tears flooding my eyes as I looked at the man in the suit with blonde hair and a cold yet calm expression.

Please.

He stared back at me for a moment too long before he stepped forward. When he got close enough, he peeled the tape from my mouth with one hand while the men watched.

I gasped, gulping down air, then immediately cried out.

"Please! Please help me! They kidnapped me - I don't know who they are - I don't want to go with them! Please don't let them take me!"

The man's lips curled into a small smile, and he gently patted my hair. Then he looked at the man who was holding me and said:

"Let her go."

Chapter 2 0002

Remi's POV

Hi, my name is Remi Flynn. I'm 19 years old, and I just got accepted into a top university to study nursing.

Just a day ago, I was out with my friends, doing what every other college student does on a Friday night.

The next day, I decided to pay my dad a surprise visit. I hadn't seen him in almost a year-not since my parents got divorced and I moved with my mom to a different city, against my will.

I hated my mom. She was the one who filed for divorce, and just months later, she married someone else. Her wealthy boss.

She tried to explain it was because of my dad's terrible gambling and drinking habits, but I never really believed that was the whole story.

Yeah, Dad had his issues. But he was still a loving father and a caring husband. Even now, he was still single, showing no interest in other women, always calling to check up on me.

Meanwhile, she had already found herself a new husband.

There was no way he was the problem.

It was clear to me she had been having an affair and just needed an excuse to get out of the marriage.

Because of his financial problems, she was able to win full custody of me.

But I didn't need her money. That was why I worked extra hard for this scholarship. I had already made up my mind-once I turned twenty, I was moving out.

With a cake in my hand, I walked up to the front door of my dad's house, excited to surprise him.

But when I got there, my excitement died immediately.

The door was wide open, and three huge, muscular men were ransacking the place.

Dad clearly wasn't home, so I assumed he was being robbed.

I was about to quietly sneak away when one of them spotted me.

His gaze flickered from the family portrait hanging in the living room... then to me.

And a slow, evil grin spread across his face.

The cake slipped out of my hands, hitting the ground with a soft thud, and I bolted for the door, but they were faster.

One of them tackled me to the ground, pinning me down hard. Before I could raise an alarm, I was shoved into a black, tinted car.

According to them, my dad had borrowed a large sum of money and refused to pay it back.

They had come to trash the place, steal valuables-leave a message.

But once they realized I was his daughter...

They decided to change plans.

I was "more valuable," they said.

I screamed, I yelled, I begged.

But all I got in return was their laughter... and threats.

"Let her go," the man spoke calmly.

The three men hesitated for a moment, and I feared they wouldn't. My heart was racing, but then, like they suddenly came to their senses, I was shoved into the stranger's arms.

Before I could blink, the men turned and ran off, disappearing into the thick forest like cowards.

I was shaking.

The man held me in his surprisingly warm arms. "Are you okay?" he asked in a soft voice.

I nodded. "...I think so," I whispered. "Thank you..."

He crouched down slightly, removing the metal chains they used to restrain my wrists and ankles. "There," he muttered. "They didn't hurt you, did they?"

Of course they did, but I didn't have time for some sob story, so I shook my head, hugging my arms.

The cold wind brushed my exposed skin and I shivered, hugging myself tighter.

He noticed this and frowned. "Come on, let's get you out of here."

I didn't even think twice as I climbed into the back seat, with every nerve in my body still buzzing. Anywhere was better than here.

Once we were both inside, the driver started the engine and he glanced at me. "Where do you live?"

"Brooklyn," I replied quietly, and he sighed, rubbing a hand along his jaw.

"That's too far... and it's too late. We would be driving all night," he said.

I knew what he meant, and he was right. I wouldn't expect a complete stranger to go to such lengths.

He looked at me again, then turned back to the road. "You know what? What if I take you to my place? It's not far from here. You can sleep, get cleaned up, and in the morning, I'll make sure you get home."

I hesitated. I barely knew this man, but he had just saved me. Saved me from God knows what. If I refused, who knows if those men would come back to get me. So I nodded.

A small smile placed itself on his lips. "What's your name?" he asked.

"Remi. Remi Flynn."

"That's a beautiful name," he said. My only response was a small smile.

We drove for what felt like hours. Somehow along the way, I dozed off, my body too exhausted to fight the sleep anymore.

The next thing I felt was a hand gently shaking my shoulder.

"Remi... hey. We're here."

I blinked awake, confused for a moment. His hand left my shoulder as soon as I stirred, and he opened the car door, walking around to help me out.

When I stepped out of the car, my eyes widened.

This wasn't a house, this was a mansion. It looked like it came straight out of a movie, and I couldn't help but wonder who this man really was and what he did for a living.

"You live here?" I whispered, and he hummed in response.

"Welcome back, Alpha," two men in suits greeted him, bowing slightly.

I raised a brow. 'Alpha'? What kind of person had staff addressing them like that?

The man, who I had started to think of as my rescuer, nodded at the men and gestured for me to follow him.

We hadn't even made it halfway up the steps when the front door swung open and a woman came rushing out.

She threw her arms around him, pressing her body against his and pulling him into a deep, desperate kiss.

I froze awkwardly, looking away and shifting from foot to foot. I didn't know where to look. The scene felt way too intimate for me to just be standing here like an idiot.

The woman finally pulled back, her hands still draped loosely around his neck as she whispered, "Why did you take so long... I missed you so much, I couldn't-"

She stopped mid-sentence, her gaze shifting to meet mine like she was just realizing I existed.

Her smile faltered for half a second before she looked at him, silently asking for an explanation.

"She's a guest," he said calmly. Then he leaned down and whispered something into her ear. I couldn't hear what he said, but I noticed her shoulders relax.

So I assumed it had to be good.

She brushed her dark hair behind her ear and turned to me with a welcoming smile.

"Well, welcome. Make yourself at home," she said. "Hope my husband didn't scare you too much. He's quite good at that."

Chapter 3 0003

Remi POV

Husband?

That word caught me off guard.

Maybe because they both looked young, so I just assumed they were dating or something casual.

But then again, this man lived in a freaking mansion - a mansion that was at least three times the size of my stepfather's house.

And my stepfather was loaded.

Clearly, this guy was on a whole different level.

Like, billionaire level.

Also, it was pretty common among rich people to get married early. I mean, if I was this loaded, I would too. What else would I even be waiting for?

I blinked and quickly masked my surprise with a small, polite smile. "N-no. He was... he was really kind, actually," I replied, and she laughed lightly before stepping aside to let us both inside.

I stepped into the mansion, and if you thought it looked big from the outside, it was nothing compared to the inside.

The floors were marble, the ceilings were so high I felt like I had to tilt my head all the way back to see them, and there were giant paintings and gold accents everywhere. A grand staircase curled up to the second floor like something straight out of a fairytale.

I barely had time to soak it all in before I noticed something else.

There were multiple staff members lined up neatly by the door, all dressed in black and white uniforms.

It was late; I was sure it was past midnight, yet they were all standing there like they had been waiting for us.

It made me quite uncomfortable, so I smiled and gave a small wave, trying to be polite.

But none of them smiled back.

Instead, they just stared at me coldly.

Awkwardly, I lowered my hand, and my cheeks burned in embarrassment.

"The maid will take you to your room," the man-my rescuer-said, turning to leave.

"Can I make a phone call?" I asked, and his steps faltered while I noticed the woman's gaze harden.

I swallowed, my throat suddenly dry. Hoping I hadn't misspoken, I rushed to add, "I need to contact my dad so he'll know I'm okay. He probably doesn't even know I got kidnapped."

For a second, no one said anything.

The man finally turned fully to face me, wearing an unreadable expression. "There are no phones here," he said simply.

My eyes widened. "What? Then..." My gaze shifted to the staff again. "How do you communicate?" I asked, my voice coming out more panicked than I intended.

I mean, a place this big, with this many people working here, had to have at least one landline somewhere, right?

He tilted his head slightly, like he was studying me. "We do things more traditionally around here... it's complicated," he said after a moment.

Traditionally? What did that even mean?

He must have seen the confusion on my face because he continued, "If you really want to make a call, I would have to drive you into town. There's a place nearby where you could use a phone."

My heart lifted a little at that-until he added, "But it's already very late. It would be rude to go knocking on a stranger's door at this hour, don't you think?"

I opened my mouth, then closed it. I mean, technically, he was right. I wouldn't exactly want some random people showing up at my door past midnight either.

"So we'll wait until morning," he said. "I promise." He added with a reassuring smile, and I nodded.

It didn't seem like I had much of a choice anyway.

Without another word, he turned and walked away down the long hallway with his arm wrapped around his wife's waist.

I opened my mouth, about to call after him again. I didn't even know his name yet-but they were already out of sight.

Seriously?

Before I could panic, two men appeared behind me. I tensed up immediately, but then a young woman approached me, bowing her head.

"This way," she muttered.

Her long, messy hair covered half of her face, so I couldn't really make out what she looked like. She didn't even look up once as she led me through the hall that looked more like a maze.

Finally, she stopped in front of a door, pushed it open, and gestured for me to enter.

I stepped inside, and I gasped.

The room was huge, bigger than my entire apartment in college. The bed looked like it belonged to royalty, with thick velvet sheets and a dozen fluffy pillows.

Without even thinking about it, I collapsed onto the bed, not caring that my clothes were dirty or that my hair was a mess. For the first time all day, I felt safe.

Or at least safer than I had been a few hours ago.

I was drifting somewhere between sleep and consciousness when I heard a soft knock.

Before I could answer, the door creaked open, and an older woman stepped inside, carrying a tray of food.

My stomach growled the moment I smelled the delicious aroma filling the room, but then my brow furrowed.

The two guards from earlier had followed her inside and were now standing stiffly by the door like statues.

Why were they here? Wasn't she just bringing me dinner? I thought, but quickly got distracted as the older woman set the tray down on the small table by the bed. "Eat," she said simply.

I pushed myself up on my elbows.

"T-thank you..."

I was just about to take a bite when I heard the woman mutter under her breath as she poured me a glass of water.

"Don't eat it."

My hand froze with the spoon just inches from my mouth. I blinked, unsure if I had heard her correctly. My gaze shifted to her, but she wasn't even looking at me. If anything, she was calm, as though she hadn't just said something out of the ordinary, and she continued pouring water.

For some reason, my hands began to tremble, and I slowly set the spoon down, keeping my eyes glued to her every move.

I don't know why, but the room suddenly felt smaller and suffocating. Even the steaming bowl of food now seemed more like a threat.

In an attempt to steady myself, my hand knocked the tray, and it went tumbling to the floor. The sound made me jump back in panic.

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry!" I exclaimed, bending down to help clean up the mess.

But before I could grab the pieces, the woman also bent down. I watched her eyes dart nervously to the door, then back to me.

And she whispered,

"Run... get out of here."
