The Alpha King's True Mate

I had just finished signing the last paperwork that was due. I was so tired from working all day. I sat back on my chair thinking of the next pack to form an alliance with.

" Alpha the documents you requested regarding Alburne pack is ready. Do you want me to point out the details of their proposal for next week?"

"Yeah you do that" I yawned, stretching my neck. Just then, Jake my Gamma walked in with a cup of coffee "Looks like someone just discovered a new level of dark under eye shadows". My wolf growled but I just rolled my eyes. I was too tired to argue, I sipped the coffee and sighed.

"So when are we going to Alburne pack for the meeting?" Matt my Beta asked. Jake smirked, all through the journey of forming alliance and peaceful agreements with different packs, he had made sure to flirt with as many girls as possible.

Matt sighed "You know I can't wait for you to find your mate, your flirting with girls will finally come to an end". Jake snickered "You're so boring Matt. When you find your mate she'll be bored of you, not to worry I'll keep her company when she comes to me". He winked at Matt. Matt growled, his wolf on the edge threatening to come out "Easy there just a light joke hehe" Jake said still teasing Matt.

I was so tired, all I wanted to do was rest and here they were bickering and adding to my stress. "Both of you get out now!" I said using my Alpha tone. They both got serious and quickly walked out the door. I sighed and drifted off.

I woke up to my phone ringing, I smiled when I saw the name on the screen. "Hey Mum" I said feeling guilty, knowing I hadn't visited home in a while. "Would you look at that Lucas, our son is still alive and breathing and he still remembers my name". I just knew the sarcasm was coming, I could hear Dad laugh gently in the background. "Mum I'm really-" I started to say. "I don't want to hear it, you're coming home for dinner and that's final" The call ended before I could even reply.

I got up and walked to the elevator. The top floor of the packhouse was my private quarters that only I had access to. I got into the elevator and saw Olivia. One of the pack members, her Dad and my Dad are close friends so they often come over for dinner. I was never really close to her, she was always with my sister when they visited us so they became close friends. She confessed her feelings to me two years ago but I abruptly turned her down. My sister had given me an earful and Ignored me for over a week.

"Alpha" she greeted, I gave her a nod. While pressing the button on the elevator. "I didn't see you at my birthday party last week" I suddenly had to think of something. "I was on a business meeting" I replied. "Chloe said you were feeling sick" I was trying to come up with a backup excuse when the elevator opened. We got in the elevator. "Do I get a birthday gift then?" She asked, I was wondering why the elevator was taking so long to stop. Before I could give a reply, she started to say "I was wondering if we could hang out?" I sighed knowing I would get it from my sister. "No Olivia, I can't, so whatever twisted fantasy you think might happen between us is never going to happen" I felt bad almost immediately "Oh" She said quietly. Just then the elevator door opened "Bye" I said and walked out to my floor.

I got to my room and showered, I came out from the bathroom with a slight throbbing in my head. I thought about how I talked to Olivia and felt bad. She wasn't like the other girls that tried to force themselves on me. I had probably hurt her feelings but it had to be done. I got dressed and hurried down to my car, I picked out the black porsche and drove to my family's house, I knew better than to be late for dinner.

I heard the familiar sound of the doorbell as I pressed the button and smelled my mother's food, my stomach rumbled just as the door opened to an angry faced Chloe. The last thing I needed was for my sister to be mad at me too. I braced myself thinking of how to get through dinner.

"Ahh finally there he is my precious son" My Dad hugged me, at least someone was happy to see me I thought. My Mum stared at me and I watched her facial expression go from anger to happiness to worry. "A hug Mum?" I watched her walk into my embrace. "Oh my baby! You look so stressed. Have you been eating well?" I rolled my eyes "Yes Mum I'm fine, just a little bit stressed" I said sitting at the dining table. "Not like you don't deserve it". Chloe muttered.

I didn't want my sister to be mad at me. "Coco? Can we talk?" I watched as she stood up reluctantly and we walked towards the lounge area. "You have two minutes" She said. "Look I know you're mad about the way I talked to Olivia, I feel bad but I had to do it because I don't have feelings for her, you know her mate is her best option". She looked at me with disbelief "Of course I know her mate is her best option but you didn't have to talk to her that way, you could've turned her down nicely she's my friend". The conversation wasn't going as I had planned. "Fine, I'm sorry". She looked at me "Tell that to Olivia, let's have dinner".

"So Leo, when do you plan on going to Alburne pack?" My Dad asked while we were eating. He had always hoped I would find my mate when visiting other packs. "Yes Leo, when are you going? I hope you find your mate! I didn't keep those baby pictures for nothing" Mum said sounding eager.

"I'm leaving tomorrow, I don't want you guys to keep your hope up, when I find my mate, I'm going to reject her" I said, It seemed like a long period of silence. "What is wrong with you? You're unbelievable right now, your mate is probably out there hoping to find her mate, not knowing you're already going to reject her before getting to know her" Chloe looked at me shocked. "Why?" Mum asked after sometime "I don't want a weakness and having a mate is one" Dad was quiet the whole time. When he's quiet he's very angry. Dad walked out of the dining quietly, Chloe walked out too. "I can't even look at you right now" Mum said angrily and left.

I left the house feeling angry, it was my choice if I wanted to reject my mate. I was doing it for my pack and it was my job as an Alpha. I was not going have a mate that would be a weakness to me and make me lag behind on my duties as an Alpha. Tomorrow my Beta and Gamma would accompany me to Alburne pack to finalize the alliance between our packs. I was going to make Moon Pack stronger than ever and a mate wouldn't spoil my plans.

Alexa pov

I woke up to my alarm my Dad had gifted me for my 20th birthday. He made me set an alarm for training every morning. He knew I would rather sleep in and skip training. "An Alpha's child should never skip training" he would say. Although I had my suspicions that he often slept in and skipped training when he was about my age.

I used to be excited to attend training, fighting made me feel alive and having two older brothers I was forced to learn it. They claimed it was self-defense for me. I had stopped attending training 1 month ago when I broke up with Andrey. I didn't see the point of attending or maybe I just didn't want to see him and Rosie his new girlfriend. I sighed as I remembered how we ended our relationship.

He had gone to Reign wolves Pack with his family to visit his aunt who was the Luna. I called him everyday but he never returned my calls. He returned a month later with a new girlfriend and when I tried to confront him, all he said was what we had was nothing serious. I was devastated and I cried myself to sleep that day.

I got up to shower, as the hot water touched every inch of my skin, I sighed feeling relaxed. As I lathered the sweet smelling lavender shampoo onto my hair, I thought of the dream I had, a big chestnut brown wolf with soft silky fur walked towards me and stopped. I reached out to pat it on the head and it purred. "Probably just a weird dream" I thought wearing my bath robe and walking into the closet.

I thought about attending training but I wasn't really feeling like going to training. Audrey and Rosie his new girlfriend would be there. Yeah he brought her to the pack. I had avoided him as much as I could. I heard my phone ringing. It was Stacy, she would me every morning to ask if I would attend training with hope.

"No I don't feel like training" I said I could tell she still felt bad that the person who hurt me was her brother "Ughh I really wish I didn't have a brother" She said, I laughed and said "I'm making breakfast so come over when you're done" "Fine, you know everyone in the pack misses you" She sighed "I'll see you later" I said quickly ending the call.

I went downstairs only to see my Dad at the foot of the stairs waiting for me. "Dad" I smiled. "Alexa you have to start attending training again My facial expression went sour "Dad please-" I started "I know Alexa, but I've given you enough time princess. The Alpha of Moon Pack will be visiting tomorrow, I don't want to give the impression that we're not strict with training. I also don't want you to get sucked in your comfort zone, your mum and I have been so worried about you". I realized I had made them so worried and stressed.

Maybe I was being selfish. I mean who was I kidding thinking I could hide in my house forever and avoid Andrey. "I'm sorry Dad, I didn't mean to make you guys worried about me, I'll attend training today". My Dad looked surprised but quickly masked it "Okay I'll be waiting for you".

I quickly changed into a two piece gym wear I had bought last year. I got to the foot of the stairs and my Dad was waiting just like he said he would. It was almost as if he was scared I would change my mind.

Training was actually nice, I saw Audrey and Rosie, I ignored them. Although I caught a few glances from Audrey. It's funny because I thought I would feel bad after seeing him, but I felt nothing not even anger. It felt good not being a slave to my emotions. After training I felt so alive, Maybe this was what I actually needed.

"I really need to shower, save me a breakfast plate!" screamed Stacey running off. "Lex you were on fire, tell me did you train secretly in your room?" Tristan said smirking. I looked at him and smiled "Are you okay?" he asked still concerned. "Yes" I said feeling bad for making everyone worried "Want to go to Ban's Tacos later? My treat" he said "Of course! I love you Stan". He placed his sweaty hand around my shoulder and smiled "Just tell Jason I'm the best fighter in the pack" He said running off. I smiled, I loved my brothers. They always had my back.

I wanted to read a novel and relax for the day. I shuffled through the books on the nightstand and I couldn't find the novel. I decided to go to the packhouse to get the novel, it had to be with Stacey. I walked down the stairs and out the door to the packhouse. I got to the packhouse when a woody scent mixed with chocolate hit my nose.

I looked around for the source of the smell which had become faint. It was an intoxicating smell but I shrugged it off. I walked in the elevator and pressed the 5th button. Just when it was about to close a handsome young male with blonde hair ran towards the elevator motioning for me to keep it opened. I kept it open so he could get in.

"Thank you" he said with a flirty smile. "You're welcome" I replied. "I'm Jake" he said stretching his hand. I took it "I'm Alexa" I said finally. "Alexa, pretty name for someone as beautiful as you" he said flirtingly. "Thank you, although you really need to work on your flirting skills pickup lines" I said smiling as the elevator came to a stop.

I got to the room and walked in. Stacy wasn't in the room but I found the novel. I decided to stay in Stacey's room at the packhouse for the night . I lay down on her bed reading, I felt sleepy after a while so I slept.

Leo pov

I opened my eyes to see the gentle light beaming from the tray ceiling above my bed. I breathed out a sigh, I felt my wolf on the edge. He wanted to go for a run. I took the private stairway, I didn't want anyone to see me. As I got to the foot of the stairs, I shifted.

Together we ran into the forest and I felt the breeze on the fur of my wolf. We finally stopped at the riverbank near my private home I had built three years ago. I still stayed in the packhouse because it was closer to my friends and even though I enjoy a quiet environment, I still wanted to be around my pack sometimes.

I shifted back, I looked around for some clothes to wear, I couldn't find any clothes around. I almost face palmed myself for giving Jake the role of making sure clothes were everywhere in the forest. Of course he would skip the area around my house. I liked order and everything in my pack had a system. Turns out Jake wasn't just the person for this system. His pranks were getting on my nerves each day.

I walked to my private house, It was quite a luxurious building. I liked simple luxury so I built it to my taste. I placed my fingerprint on the door and walked in. I went to my room and picked out a shorts and a white shirt. I walked back to the packhouse in the quiet forest with only the sound of the birds to keep me company.

Suddenly the air became dense "I see you've been working out" I stopped on my tracks and turned back to see who had said that. "Looking for me?" The flirty voice said "I'm flattered, but you won't find me sexy. There will come a time when you will look for me again, then you will find me" I knew who she was then, the witch who was gifted and could appear anywhere she wanted. "Serena?" I asked, "Ohh 1 point for the Alpha" She giggled.

"I have no time for games. What do you want?" I asked. "So impatient yet so attractive, I'll say what I want and leave. I'm busy these days, a witch got to live and the men in this town find me attractive" I scoffed. "There will come a time when you and your mate will need my help. She is the most priced treasure of all wolves yet coveted by all wolves, she has not been discovered yet, maybe hidden, maybe not" She giggled.

"What do you mean?" I asked confused and irritated by her constant giggles. "When the time comes you will come to me in need of my help and I will give it, only for a price of course" I was annoyed at the unclarity in her words. "Whatever you think is going to happen, it won't. I'm not going to have a mate" I said. "Okay Alpha, we'll see again" She said.

I got to the packhouse showered and sent mind-linked Matt and Jake. We were leaving for Alburne pack today, the alliance had to be made soon. I packed my stuff for the journey. I got to the parking lot at exactly 8am. Jake and Matt were seated in the car. They were my closest friends but they knew when to be serious and when it was play time. Going for a meeting was not something to take lightly. Everyone had to be ready at the agreed time.

They sighted me from afar and got out of the car. "Alpha" They greeted. I threw my travel bag at Jake with all the force I could muster. "What was that for?" He said surprised. "That was for me going out on a run and finding out there were no clothes to wear when I shifted!" I said "Ohh that, I must have skipped the area you usually pass. Can't say I'm sorry though" He said with mischief written on his face.

"Tell me about it, I woke up this morning and found a spider next to me" Matt said glaring at Jake "Fine, fine, I'll try to be sorry" We both glared at him "I mean I'm sorry" he said laughing.

We were halfway through the journey, we took turns driving to keep ourselves occupied. "You know I've always wondered why you think having a make will make you weak" Jake said staring out the window. "Yeah you've never said the reason why" Matt added.

"I just think a woman won't be able to keep up with the responsibilities of the pack, I have plans for the pack I don't want to carry on the burden of a mate too" I said hoping they would understand what I was trying to say. "But your mum was Luna and the pack never had a problem''. Jake said

I was not interested in the conversation anymore, I had made up my mind already. "That's enough, I don't want to talk about it" I said. Why was everyone against my decision, I was doing this for the pack. I sighed as I thought about what happened with Serena. There was no use telling anyone, whatever she had said meant nothing to me anyway.

We got to Alburne park in the evening. I had to say I was impressed with the environment and the security. It was so coordinated and tight. We got to the packhouse, It was big and simple yet beautiful. "Hello Alpha Leo, Beta Matt, Gamma Jake. My name is Theo, let me lead you to where you'll be staying, the Alpha will be with you shortly" A polite boy said when our car came to a stop.

He led us to the elevator when Jake signaled us 'you guys go ahead I'll join you in a bit, I need to get my phone from the car. What floor is it?" He asked the boy. "The tenth floor" he said as Jake walked away. We got to the tenth floor , it seemed like a private area. It was impressive -not as good as what we had in our pack though- It had several rooms, a bar, a kitchen and a lounge area on the far end.

"Feel free to choose any room that is to your liking, I'll wait by the elevator to take you to the Alpha in 15 minutes" Theo said. Shortly, Jake came and we all left with Theo to meet the Alpha. He was waiting outside the packhouse.

"Alpha Leo, It's nice to finally meet you" Alpha Harris said stretching out his hand. "The pleasure is mine, sorry for coming ahead of schedule" I said taking his hand, if I didn't know better I'd think the Alpha was 10 years older than me. He looked so young and in good shape. "Our gates are always open to you" he said grinning

This is my Luna and Wife "Rose" She smiled. "Luna Rose" I said stretching out my hand to her but she hugged me instead smiling nicely. "You look like a young promising man. Welcome to our pack she said". I liked her already. "Thank you, by the way this is my Beta "Matt" and my Gamma "Jake". I said to the Alpha and Luna. They exchanged pleasantries.

"Would you like to join us for dinner in our house? Someone would be assigned to give you a tour of the packhouse tomorrow" Luna Rose said "That would be lovely" I said. "Mum!" I turned to see a male who looked in his early 20's possibly a year or two years younger than me say, he was walking down with who I assumed was his brother, the resemblance was striking. He looked like he was my age. I guess they were the Alpha sons, they were obviously coming from a run. They were both good looking and fit like their parents.

"Alpha Leo, meet my sons" Luna Rose said smiling. "Jason and Tristan this is Alpha Leo, Beta Matt and Gamma Jake from Moon pack" said Alpha Harris. "It's a pleasure meeting you" Jason said "It's nice to meet you" Tristan said. They stretched out their hands and we exchanged pleasantries.

"Where is Alexa?" Alpha Harris asked as we approached a beautiful white villa "We all went for a run but she left early. Seemed tired" Tristan said. "And you left her all alone?" Luna Rose asked "No mum she's in the packhouse with Stacey, she sleeping there tonight" Jason said.

We sat at the dining room to eat "Luna Rose it would be really nice to meet your daughter, what was her name again?" Jake said smiling. "Alexa" Luna Rose said smiling innocently. "Oh wow Alexa is your daughter?" Jake said surprised. "Yes have you net her?" She asked. "Yes, I met her in the elevator. She was so pretty and funny" Jake said laughing as he looked like he was recalling something.

I was angry more than usual for some reason, I mean I always knew Jake was a huge flirt but his attitude just ticked me off this time. We were just arriving at the pack and he was already making plans to have something with the Alpha's daughter.

Dinner ended shortly after that "The food was so tasty Luna Rose" I said smiling. The woman was so sweet, she reminded me of my mum. "Please call me Rose, its so disturbing to hear Luna Rose all the time" She said laughing. "You all must be tired let us escort you to the packhouse" Alpha Harris said. "No please, we couldn't possibly make you go through the trouble. The dinner was amazing and we feel welcomed here. Thank you so much Alpha and Luna " I said smiling. "You're welcome anytime dear" Luna Rose said.
