The Alpha King's Prophecy Mate

I stood at the balcony, carefully observing the pack members working all over the place trying to get a part of their work done.

I kept wondering what the fuss was all about .My father,the Alpha of Light Moon pack kept barking orders at pack members.

Apparently the Alpha king has been making rounds all over the East Region of packs .it was a tradition for the Alpha king to check on the welfare of the werewolves.

He goes to every pack to see how they are fairing and to check if everything is running smoothly and the pack members are satisfied.

Stories had it that the Alpha king has the right to denounce an Alpha's position if he notices any mistreatment or disunity in a park.

Even as Alpha born , everyone still tried their best to not be on the Alpha king bad side.

The way my father speaks of him with hate and fear.He portrays him as a ruthless and blood sucking animal,one that doesn't show mercy.

Since the announcement of the Alpha king's arrival, rumors have spread fast like wildfire . People had different narratives about some which I believed tho.

Someone said he never smiles no Matter the circumstance

Another said he is quick to snap a wolf's neck if he was having a bad day.

Another said he always dressed himself in a cloak because he was a vampire and having direct contact with the sun would be unbearable for him.

I gasp when I heard the word,at that instant I knew it was a lie .I have never met the Alpha king but in the werewolves community,they don't allow close contact with vampires, In Fact they were sworn enemies and they never co_exist.

And if truly the Alpha king was a vampire,his scent would have given him away

And he would have been killed long ago

Nobody really knows what he looks like, still sharing the narrative of his looks too.He was said to be a weird person.

After his father's death,he sacked most of the workers and only had a few servants at his beck and call. He lives at the outskirts of the East Region,only seen during his customary rounds.

My dad, Alpha Gerald was not someone I would call a good Alpha,he cares solely about himself and his mate.

My momma died a few years after my birth and my dad was left to sulk for the loss of his mate.

I noticed my mother's friend was frequenting the pack house where my father's chambers were located .I was just a child and I didn't know what was going on .

A year after my mom's death.a Luna ceremony was held and Helen, my mother's friend, was marked by my dad and pronounced the Luna of the Light moon pack.

In the werewolves community they are the soulmates and acquired mates .

The mom is my dad's soulmate.Their union was ordained by the Moon goddess.There are fated mates

Acquired mateship is done when a wolf doesn't get to meet their other half fast or they fall in love with someone that isn't their mate but most people use it for their selfish interest in power just like my step mom.

My father showers favor on his mate.i also have a step sister who is just few years younger than me

I won't say am being maltreated but I don't feel like I belong here.with everything going on I would have preferred if my mom was still alive

Years have passed and I am now a grown up staring down at the mess unfolding in front of me in preparation for the arrival of our honorable Alpha king.

It's been a week since the preparation of his coming.The light Moon pack is going to be the last pack he visits in the East Region which simply means the seven Alphas in the region will have a meeting after the light Moon pack surveillance by the Alpha king.There are also allowed to come with a few pack members because after the judge ment have been passed,the Light Moon pack will host a little party for the Alpha king.

The meeting is solely for the Alpha King's judgment and analysis on his rounds so far.

I shuddered at the thought of hosting all this powerful people in one place.i never wanted to be in attendance of any events going to hold but with the ball and as the first daughter of Alpha Gerald and the potential Alpha which I know won't be possible because of my father preference for Alisa my step sis

I have to be in attendance unfortunately.

My thoughts wandered back to the Alpha king

"What a weird character"

I startled at the obvious presence of another being and I slowly turned around

I breathed in relief when I saw the familiar face of my best friend Eve. We have been friends since we were pups. We shifted together on our eighteenth birthday.

I am the shy and reserved person in the friendship while Eve on the other hand is the life of the party.She keeps telling me to be adventurous but thinking about who my father is and how he doesn't let me step a foot outside of the pack house.

Having only Eve as my friend made it easier for my dad because she is his Beta's daughter and she spends most of her time in my house but stepping outside was prohibited

"What have you been up to" Eve said

I had almost forgot she was standing close to me

"I can't help but watch this" I said pointing downward to the shuffling and bustling

"Ok, have you gotten an outfit for the event"

"Not yet,there is still plenty of time for that"

"Uh.Uh don't start with that bullshit,it's a week from now and I don't want you looking like a maid"

"Appearing like a maid isn't bad at all,I think I like the idea"I joked and Eve rolled her eyes which made me laugh

"You have to look your best who knows you might find your mate "

"It's been four years I shifted and haven't gotten a mate,I don't think am fated to have one"

"Shush don't say that, the moon Goddess never makes a mistake.Everyone is destined to have a mate"

"But it's unusual, even though the pack members don't say it to my face . I hear whispers of my lack of mate"

"Am sure I would have found my mate if I hadn't been confined to this hell hole. Look at me Eve, I've been taught all my life to be a calm and obedient person. I can't explore just like you do. We shifted together but you found your mate earlier and you are even in your breeding period "

"Enough of this emotional talk,you will get dressed, look ravishing and get to meet your mate,am positive about this"

Am sure he will be kind, handsome and a man with an untainted reputation,you will see"

I sighed,I hear this every time there is an event and nothing positive ever comes out of it.

I really want to leave this house.

Don't get me wrong,I am not being maltreated, just that my movements are restricted and carefully monitored as if to prevent me from a dangerous prey waiting to pounce on me.

One time I decided to rebel for the first time and I sneaked out of the house and went to a friend's party without my father's consent .

I was dragged out of the party by my dad's guards.

When I got home,my dad was fuming,I've never seen him so angry

I was thrown into the basement where rogues are kept for two days as my punishment.

"Marty, Marty,you are lost in thought again"

I've been doing this lately getting lost in thought was becoming a habit

"Am sorry, what were u saying "

"Come girl"

She drag me subtly back to my room

Anytime she does this,she wanted to be discreet about a particular information that is about to be divulged

"I want you to stay out of the Alpha King's sight" she said in a hushed voice as if scared he might overhear her

"Why" the question came from a place of curiosity,a part of me knew why ,I just wanted to hear it directly from her.

"I don't know,am sure you have heard some narrative about him,I just want you to be safe,you are more at risk than I am,you know why"

Yeah the unmated female get into danger more than the mated once, this is because the werewolves community can't afford to get saddled with weak warriors because their mates are in danger "

Mates are the other half of wolves.

If found ,they make the significant other stronger.

The loss of one's mate can lead to the death of the other or by chance the weakened state of the person.

"Thanks but are the rumors really true"

" a reasonable amount of people has affirmed,so am sure it is"

"Does the Alpha king have a name "

Our conversation stopped abruptly when we heard footsteps approaching my room. There was a light knock at the other end of the door

"Who is that"

"Kathy,"

"Come in"

Kathy is a mother figure to me,she practically raised me and she is very loyal to me.

"Marty, Miss"she bowed acknowledging Eve and I

I have given her a firm warning not to address me with formalities

"Your mate awaits your presence" she said directing the news to Eve

"Oops I have to run along,Mateo needs me"

"I will be back by noon,get ready we are getting you a dress today "

"I don't think Dad will allow me go out "

"Look for a way,Bye" she hastily walked out.

I sighed, One day it will be me getting all giddy just by hearing my mate's name.

I told my Dad about the shopping

"Dad I..I would like to go shopping with Eve ahead of the event" I bowed my head, shivering in fear

"There will be no need for that, I already got a stylist for you and Alisa,she will be here soon,all you need to do is select your choice and she will get you ready on that day"

"And varieties will be available to choose from "

I sighed. I knew this would be his response but why must I do this with Alisa

That girl has a foul mouth,she has a capability of inflicting pain on people with her tongue .

I silently prayed to the moon Goddess for Alisa not to pick on me.

Eve kept to her word and came back by noon. She was so disappointed when I told her of my father's decision but she insisted on following me to make a choice of outfit.

"Marty, the stylist is here" Kathy announced

"Oh! Let her in"

"Sorry Alisa already took her to the dressing room,she said you can come over to meet them if you want "

"Ok thanks,you can go"

"Is she serious, we have to go over and meet her.That is disrespectful "Eve blew hot

"Is fine let's just go "

She reluctantly followed me, cursing under her breath,I chuckled when I noticed that

The overprotective nature of my Dad sometimes makes me wonder if they is a secret behind it.my suspicion heightened when I overheard him arguing with his mate over it

" You can't keep locking her in,let her explore like her peers" Helen fumed

"There is a reason for this,she is not supposed to be wandering about "

"How about you share that reason with me "

"You don't even like her,why are you advocating for her"

"That's the main reason I want her out,she is always in my face"

"I don't want to talk about this anymore "

When I heard footsteps approaching the door,I scrambled out in a haste .

I was always confined in the house.i get whatever I want and in return I act like a dutiful daughter and do whatever am told.The only time am allowed to go out is to run and my dad always stationed three or more guards with me

It was frustrating.

Alisa held a dress , when we got in

She was flaunting it at us , Alisa is a petite girl,she could pass as a model,her blonde hair making her tanned skin glow to me, she was a beauty queen

Eve always shut me up when I say it out loud, she always likes to remind me that I was sexy and more appealing than Alisa

Eve sure dislikes Alisa

"Hi, am Anna,I will be your stylist for the coming event" The hairstylist introduced herself to us

I shook her hands formally and smiled

I noticed she was fidgeting and am sure Alisa has a hand in it.she must have bullied the poor woman

I held her hands this time passionately,she slowly raised her head and smiled at me. I squeezed her hands gently. I noticed this little gesture made her more comfortable.

" You sure are a sight to behold" Anna said

"I know right,I've been told countless times " Alisa responded without even sparing a glance at us ,she was tossing clothes she didn't like all over the room

I shook my head lightly at Anna when she wanted to correct her that the compliment was for me.

If she does that we all will get an earful

"Wow ,I am sure this will look amazing on you"Eve shouted excitedly, she held a black diamond engraved dress.

It was shining even in the daytime

"Yeah it's beautiful but the length is too short"

"You friend sure has a great taste" Anna compliment

"It suits your body type , don't worry about the length"

"Try it on let's see if it needs anymore adjustments"

Suddenly ,we heard a huff and the door banged loudly,Alisa left the room for reasons best known to her.

I looked back at Eve but she just rolled her eyes and urged me to go get dressed

"Woah you look great,the dress suit like it was made just for you" Eve compliment,the smile on her face was heavenly

"Take a look at it yourself "

I stared at myself in the mirror, my curves stood out as if on a parade show. The dress hugged my body like a second skin. Truly the dress was gorgeous

The only problem was the length,Eve swatted my hand away when I tried to pull it down a bit.

Finally we were done with the outfit selection,we padded Anna goodbye and she left with a promise of coming back to get me ready on the event day.

Living in this house has been my greatest setback. I needed somebody who would take me out of here. Eve has always been there for me, anytime she is ready to go out and I ask for permission .

I have a very strong hunch that there must be a reason, a very solid one for my dad's behavior towards me going out but I couldn't place my hands on it.

The event was fast approaching, the preparations all in motion and almost done, the Alpha King must be a very special and strict person .

I kept thinking about how the outcome of the Alpha visit will be, I just hope nobody loses their life at the expense of his arrival.

He sure was a wicked person if even my father was terrified about his visit.

How much I hated this customary visit of pack, as the Alpha King,the most important role I play is to ensure that packs all over the region are run smoothly

I hated physical touch and coming out of my comfort zone and this visit is making me do just that.

If there is any mishap or mistreatment occurring in a pack,the Alpha of the pack will be asked to step down and his Beta or Delta continues the reign.

So far two Alphas have been found guilty. I got to know because I announced the date of my arrival and came earlier than expected .

The Alpha of Star Pack is one of them. I came earlier to that pack because I have been receiving complaints of different sorts.

Apparently,he has managed to get off the hook of other Alpha kings by pretense .

I decided to take him off guard

I arrived at the Star Pack but was surprised at the commotion that was ongoing , the pack members were gathered around a thing of interest . They didn't notice my arrival at first .

I stopped abruptly when my mind registered what was unfolding before me . Two pack members were tied to a stake and were being tortured with silver.

Silver is the fastest instrument to terminate a wolf, and it was against the law to use it on a fellow pack member.

No amount of sin could warrant this

As the Alpha king I didn't need to announce my presence. The power radiating off me caught their attention seconds later and everyone was bowing at my feet.

"Rise"

They all rose to their feet and the Alpha of the Star pack came running towards me. I held out my hand.

A motion to stop him from coming any closer.

It was clear he wasn't expecting me, anger and fear was etched clearly on the Alpha's face. He bowed his head slowly in shame.

His family did the same

I was a man of few words, I didn't acknowledge the situation.

"Release them and lead me to my room"

The perpetrators scrambled to do exactly that.

I stayed two days at the pack and gathered enough evidence and leverage against the Alpha Troost .

I left the second day

My expression changed to one of displeasure and disgust when I remembered the last day's incident at the Star pack.

Alpha Troost's daughter got into my room, how she did that I had no idea.

She was putting on a lingerie, and looking at me seductively

She had ulterior motive I was sure of that

"You know, when my father asked to come please you,I had my reservation, you won't blame me I've heard a lot of ill things about you"

I stare at her ,not giving any emotions away

"But I never heard of your beauty"she continued

Just then I realized I was dressed casually,my sweatpants and a t- shirt not the usual cloak I always put on outside.

Shit she saw my face

To me the cloak was another source of comfort In the form of clothing.

Oh so the Alpha Troost sent his daughter to seduce, probably to make me let go of what I saw and forgive him, what a father sending your daughter to clear off your dirty deeds.

She started advancing towards me which got me angry.

I let out a loud growl which got her cowering before me

"Leave my room before I have you beheaded"

She hastily picked her stuff and ran out

I sighed

Remain the Light moon pack and all of this would be over, Unfortunately the pack is hosting a party.

"Must I attend the party" I asked my Beta Theo

He knows a lot about the traditions and tells me what I can do and what I can't do.

I go to him for pack advice and always keep him at arm's length

"You must, My Lord,you hardly attend this events and the people are already complaining. You are the Alpha king and your presence is really appreciated at events like this

"Ok ok ,but you have to keep everyone away from me"

He bowed in agreement then I noticed he was fidgeting with his fingers , he does this anytime he is nervous.

"What do you want to say"

He smiled knowing fully well,he has been caught

"My Lord you have to go without your cloak"

Oh not this

Even though I would never admit it,I have a soft spot for Theo,he has always been there for me.

I won't say we are friends because obviously I don't have friends but I appreciate him . He never judged me even after he found out who I truly was.

I was neglected as a child,never really having the love I truly deserve. If I wasn't the only child of my parents the mantle of leadership would have not been mine

Not that I cared,I saw this responsibility as a very demanding one and I would have loved to live a simple life far away from people.

I spent most of my life being caged with silver. With the help of Theo I managed to control my powers.

I killed my mother out of rage. That day my father had a pack meeting to attend to and he left me and my mother at home.

I was sitting in my room silently munching an apple hungrily and my mom came in.

She gasped at the sight and rushed toward the apple.

"How dare you lay your filthy hands on my fruit"

"But mother hungry,the food isn't ready yet"

"You deserve to die"

I started crying,hurt at the words thrown at me , I wondered if she was really my mother.

"I regret giving birth to you"

At the stage I was struggling to cage the animal inside of me, wanting to reveal itself .

" You are a cursed child"

More insults thrown at me.

Like a lightning bolt ,I picked up the knife I was using to slice the Apple and shoved it into my mother's heart . She fell down lifeless

My dad came back almost immediately,he felt his mate bond breaking .

Theo already moved the lifeless body from my room,he kept it a secret from my father.Theo told him his mate was assassinated by an unknown person.

After some months ,my father grew into a shadow of himself, and committed suicide,he couldn't bear the loss of his mate.

I was forced to live with the guilt and it has remained a big secret Theo had to keep for my safety. Maybe truly I am cursed.

"My Lord you look pale, are you sure you are fine"

I only nodded my head, I noticed too

"Have you ever thought about meeting your mate"

Theo enquired

" I don't want to have this conversation Theo "

"Am sorry my Lord but as the Alpha king being away from your mate only makes you weaker

"You have a lot of enemies who wants your downfall and there are looking for an opportunity to harp on"

I walked out of the conversation knowing fully well Theo was right, I am twenty eight and it's like a curse to not have found a mate by this age.

I have a lot of enemies and this information will be very useful to their ears
