Sapphire p.o.v
I nibbled on the delicious apple in my hand as I sat hidden in a dark small corner in a forgotten alley.
My bony hands shook as I tried to eat my dinner with snow covering my frozen bare feet.
It is a miracle that I haven't gotten frostbite from the merciless cold winds and snow that pelted against my skin even in my makeshift shelter.
I am cold.
My body trembled as I tried to eat the apple that I had worked so hard to get.
I have no hope left and I just fight day by day with starvation and cold being the least of my problems.
What is more important is not getting caught by the oppressors of my people and staying alive.
Every day was a challenge.
I had to steal food to survive whilst not being spotted.
It is a hard life, a life I am been born into.
Despite how terrible life was for me, despite the starvation, fear, cold and struggles, I am thankful that I am alive.
It is far better than another life I could have had.
I could have been born a slave.
Slavery was an every day reality in my world, a world run by the supernatural beings.
I could have been a slave of a vampire, werewolf or lycan.
Vampires that drank blood, werewolves that abused slaves and lycans with the combined thirst for violence of vampires and werewolves.
All were absolutely terrifying.
I did not know much about my oppressors, not as much as a slave would.
I knew the basic information which was what made each of the major supernatural beings so dangerous to me.
I had no real teacher.
I was taught whatever I know by a woman, who had been friends with my mother, however when I reached the age of five and had been taught some basic reading and writing and knew the dangers of our oppressors, I was abandoned.
She had had no obligation to me.
She was only following the will of her deceased friend.
My mother.
Getting food for one was hard enough.
In such a world it was survival of the fittest and every human for themselves.
As I got older that fact became clear.
No one wanted to be captured by those cruel beasts.
I have heard rumours of the punishments captured humans received.
Being beaten, drunk dry or even fighting to the death in matches.
No one wanted to be subjected to such a fate.
My body stilled as I heard voices echoing through the alley, sound bouncing off the old walls.
For me to be able to hear the person, that only means they must have entered the alley.
I am terrified.
It did not matter if the person is human or not.
No one could be trusted.
Absolutely no one.
Some humans were used to draw out humans like myself, gaining their trust before taking them to their masters or turning them over for their own safety.
A supernatural being could take me or turn me in.
I tried to slow my breaths and racing heart to ensure no attention could be drawn to me
I heard a low growl vibrating through the woods.
A growl that had to belong to a supernatural being.
I am sure it had to be a werewolf or lycan.
Vampires were not as animalistic and primal unless they were starving for blood....

"I am sure she is not here..."
They were looking for me.
Did someone see me and tipped them off.
I tried to keep as calm as possible.
Trying to breathe slow whilst whispering soft calming things in my head.
Stay calm. Sapphy. Stay calm.
"I can smell her! Do not dare say otherwise," the loud growl of a male echoed into my ears.
He is sure I am here.
I have two options.
I should either made a run for it or wait for them to hopefully leave.
The male did not sound like he planned to give up.
If I just sit here then I will captured.
I knew there was only one option that could possibly save me.
I got up to my feet, tossed the apple aside, and began a mad sprint through the alley in the darkness of the night.
I hate running in the snow especially with my small size.
My feet sank into the snow as if it was quicksand.
I however kept running.
My bare feet gave me an advantage as there were no heavy shoes weighing me down.
I ran as fast as I could.
I ignored the burn of the cold under the soles of my feet.
I could not stop running.
I refused to be subjected to the supernatural beings abuse and mistreatment.
My running was spurred on by the sound of howling.
There was definitely a werewolf or lycan after me.
I knew I had to run and lose them and made sure they could not get close enough to me to have a definite hold of my scent.
If they could memorise my scent they would track me.
The howls were loud and they terrified me.
I am scared.
If he was using the howls to call for assistance I will be doomed.
I know I had little hope to outrun them.
They would easily gain speed on me.
A cry left my lips as a hard brick wall slammed into my back.
My wrists were tightly grasped and held to the wall.
A tall muscular male stood in front of me.
He was growling as he looked down on me with his irises turned onyx.
His breaths were ragged and gave the impression of a raging wild animal.
His onyx eyes made me understand exactly what he is....
A lycan.
They were the apex predators among the supernatural beings.
I know my last ray of hope was something that would have serious repercussions on me.
I also know that I am already doomed so nothing could get worse.
I swiftly kneed him where it would definitely hurt and ran.
I made it to my safe place, the place I use when retreating from supernaturals beings.
I did not go there often as I did not want them to catch my scent there however it was my last hope.
I crawled through the small gap in the collapsed bricks which made a tunnel.
I curled up in the dirt and debris when I got to the end.
I felt safe in my little place.
They will not touch me.
My sense of safety was however a misjudged one as the bricks began falling as my safe place was ripped apart and the lycan stood before me.
All hope is gone.
I am going to be sent to a death match.
The lycan grabbed me and dragged me to my feet.
He forced my back against the wall again, a position he seemed rather fond of.
He let out a loud howl, a howl of victory.
He had won the hunt.
He dragged me back with him, paying no attention to my desperate struggling.
"Look at this little human I found," the lycan laughed as he reunited with his friend.
"Great I've been wanting some entertainment in the games," his friend laughed.
The lycan growled.
"The human is mine!"
I struggled in the lycan's grip.
I did not want to be in the games nor did I want to belong to anyone.
"Stop struggling. Now get in the carriage like a good human or I will have to take you to corrective lessons," he said releasing my wrist.
I began running again.
Running away from the carriage I had been instructed to get into.
One howl from the lycan and my path was however blocked off by wolves and vampires.
I turned back to see him and I stared at him, terrified.
"Come now," he growled at me and I walked to him, afraid of what was going to happen to me.
The second I had climbed into the rather fancy carriage I was forced down onto the cold seats.
The lycan stuck his head in my neck and bit down on my skin furiously.
He ignored all of my desperate cries and pleads.
When his sharp canines finally left my skin I was in too much pain to move.
Is that my punishment?
Being bitten by him?
A bite that was incredibly painful and torturous.
My eyelids slowly began to close as I struggled to stay awake.
"When we get back you will be taught how I expect you to behave from now on."
Soon after he spoke I fell unconscious.

Chapter
Alpha Adrien
"You claimed her. So your instincts were right, Alpha Adrien," my friend sighed, disappointment dripping in his voice.
"Yes and if you dare suggest killing my mate again I will kill you, beta or not," I threatened.
"Are you going to announce her and everything? Are you not upset that you got a weak little rebellious human?" My friend asked raising an eyebrow, still struggling to come to terms with me being mated to a human girl who ran around in the woods.
"She will be announced after being trained and I am very happy to have a human. She has no influence or dominance and despite her need to rebel against me she will be easier to control considering how much more power I have over her. If anything it makes my life easier. I am a lycan so it does not matter what she is, my blood is incredibly strong and will produce Lycans."
"She still does not have our instinct to mate..."
"That does not matter. I have claimed her. That won't make her anything like us but it will help with the mating. She will be more reactive to the slightest touch and as a bonus will not age," I said.
I ran a finger along the sleeping girl's arm and I saw her shiver.
A shiver of pleasure.
"See she responds now even when unconscious. Imagine how she would respond when awake. Humans have no sort of defences built into them. Its absolutely beautiful," I sighed.
"You are still taking a human. She is vulnerable and a rebellious little thing. She will fight you. You did take away her freedom, if you could call it freedom. Claimed or not she will do all she can to escape."
"So you expect me to chain her in a room and break her spirit so she won't escape. I won't do such a thing to my soulmate. I want to have her love and trust me not to hate me."
"What human is going to love a lycan. A lycan who forced her to come. She will believe she is no more than your slave when she wakes up. She will fear you and run."
"I won't let her!"
I stopped as I saw her beginning to stir and a smile painted my lips.
I watched as her eyes shot open.
Her eyes locked on me.
"N-no."
"You're awake darling."
"She's nothing but a runaway. She won't listen to you."
"What do you want from me? What could you want from an helpless human?"
"Yes, Alpha, what could you want from a little poor human?"
"Dawson" I snapped.
"Yes, Alpha King,"
She breathed as her fear began to bubble up again.
She was already beginning to slowly inch away.
Her eyes analyzing me like the predator I am.
"Told you she would fear us. Look at her. So weak."
SAPPHIRE P.O.V
I felt a small burst of anger inside of me at the rude remark.
I am not weak.
Maybe the privileged supernatural being might have liked to try living on a single, small portion of food every two or three days.
If anything to survive in such harsh outside conditions in thin old worn out and torn clothes with so little food was strength.
I could have given up and taken my life.
But no, I never did.
That is true strength.
They know absolutely nothing
"Dawson be silent. I don't want to hear another word. This human is my guest. She will be treated with civility."
"Guest? You must be joking. I'm a human, you know that. Why are you sparing me? I should be dead. Why am I not dead? Is thi.."
"Because the alpha sees potential in you," The other man who I suppose to be called Dawson, explained vaguely.
"Potential. Potential for what?" I asked raising an eyebrow.
Their motives were very unclear and such concerned me.
"Let's not hurry it. Answers will come in time and for now you need to rest. We have a long journey ahead of us and you seem exhausted and frozen," The alpha said pulling yet another fur blanket onto me.
I looked up at him,suspicious.
His motives were unclear and vague.
No lycan would do such a thing for a human.
Unless.... he is only trying to trick me.
He wanted to manipulate me and make me feel safe before throwing me into the games.
The second I relaxed would be the second before I died.
