Blue's POV
Shadow Pack.
I stared at Luca, hoping I'd have the balls to actually break this whole situation with him after what was supposedly a break up sex in my head.
"Luca." I called out, and he turned his face from where he was dressing.
"Hmm?" He muttered, turning his whole body to see as he was buttoning his clothes. The sight of his abs made me thirsty, and his broad chest even made it worse.
I drooled over every single part of his body, unable to take my eyes off him.
"What is it?" He asked, setting his brown eyes on me. That was another reason I was obsessed with him apart from the insanely good sex.
"It's over between us." I said, and he scoffed, putting on his cufflinks.
"It's not that easy." He cast a quick glance at me, and his face showed how less of me he thought. "Why would you even do that?"
"Because you don't care about me?" I snapped. "You don't speak to me unless I speak to you? I leave you tons of messages and you never reply to any of them? I'm constantly begging for the barest minimum?"
"Relax Blue." Luca made a move to touch me, but I moved backwards, because if he was successful with that touch, I'd be several steps off my mind.
"Luca, this is the end, and there's nothing you can do about it." I said, sincerely hoping it'd change like the last five times I had done something this drastic. Five times I had broken up with him, and five times I lost my self respect by begging him to take me back.
"Blue, we're both Alphas, and you know how demanding it can be." Luca said, probably trying to plead his case while getting dressed. This was the hardest he had ever tried.
Oh yeah, I'm an Alpha. The Alpha.
"Not to rub it in your face or anything, but I do run the strongest pack in the whole of New York, and I still have the time to triple text your non chalant ass!" I snapped at him.
"Okay, relax." Luca said, alresdy fully dressed, looking pretty hot as always. "How about you calm down and let us have a discussion about this over dinner?"
"This is exactly why we're breaking up." I hissed at him. "You're fine with letting this anger boil in me till night."
"I'm sorry, Blue, but I have work to do." Luca said, waking towards the door.
"Well, have fun, because we're done." I said, and he didn't say a word back to me.
He walked out of the room, and I could hear him walk out of the pack house. It was already hard enough begging him for us to merge packs and be married. It hurt that I was only strong and ruthless with the werewolves in and out of my pack, and I was helpless with Luca. Maybe that's how I want to be.
I had barely finished dressing up when Ashley's scent filled my nostrils. She didn't have to knock the door before walking in.
"Hey lovely?" Ashley giggled, walking inside to hug me.
"Ashley West, my favorite female, and my one and only pumpkin." I smiled, carrying her as she jumped at me.
We kissed as was the usual greeting. Kylie, my beta was always weirded out by those kisses.
"So, I saw the almighty Alpha of the Riven pack just walk out your doors, and I just hope it went the exact way we planned it." Ashley said, and I smiled. She was the one that planned this whole break up thing.
"Yes, of course. " I rolled my eyes. "I'm sure he's expecting me to be over at his pack house by night begging him to take me back."
"For him to have you on such chokehold, I really need to see how large he is down there. You are so dickmatized." Ashley said, and we laughed.
"Now, all that's left is for you to find his replacement. At least, till he regains his mind and comes back begging for you to take his miserable entity." Ashley giggled.
"Thank you for your help as always. I'll try my best to get someone quickly." I said, sitting down as she helped me put on the ear rings.
"The pleasure is always mine, but I also want to see my brother suffer and beg for you." She laughed wickedly, and I could only giggle.
Kylie knocked at the door, and I took a deep breath, ready to leave the pleading part of me in the room.
"What is it?" I asked.
"It's time, Alpha. We have to leave, that's if you're ready." Kylie said.
"I am. Get the car ready." I said, picking up my bag.
"Do you want to know why I'm so in love with you?" Ashley asked like she hadn't told me a million times.
"You're so powerful, and you lead men, and yet, you manage to bask in your feminity."
"Take care love, I'll see you when I get back." I winked at her, and she giggled.
I walked out of the room, and Kylie bowed, leading the way to the car.
Everyone in the pack stopped what they were doing, and walked over to bow to their Alpha. I never instill fear into them, I guess it's just reverence that comes with the heights I've achieved.
I waved them off and walked into the car. Kylie got in with me, and we drove off, having no company.
"Erm... Ruins?" Kylie called.
"I'm all ears."
"The distributor is already at the exchange point, and he's waiting for us."
"Isn't that where we're headed?"
"I just wanted to fill you in." He said, and I gave a dismissive nod.
We arrived at the restaurant not long after, and I was on my way in. I wasn't looking up because I was checking my wrist watch when I bumped into someone.
He didn't let me fall, as he caught me barely staggering, and then his scent filled my nostrils so strong that I could not deny it.
His blue eyes especially caught my eyes, and his dark disheveled hair, followed by the incredibly hot face he had.
I might have found the one thing I had given up on, and maybe my solution to Luca's problem in one.
"Mate!" I growled silently.
"Erm... I'm very sorry." He said with a very calm voice, helping me dust off the little coffee spills on my body.
11:13... I met my second chance mate at 11:13.
Maverick's POV
"It's fine." The stranger I had bumped into said. I wasnjust thankful that the coffee I had gotten for Chloe, Damien, and me.
It was then, I raised my head and stared into her eyes. I was staring at absolute beauty. Her brown eyes captivated me, making me choke on my words. Her hair was very long, and since we were very close to each other, I didn't get the chance to look at her body, although I wouldn't have.
"Erm... I'm sorry... I... I... I should get going now." I said, finding it in me to leave. I was about turning to leave when she held me back.
"Come here. Have a seat with me, and let's talk." She said, looking straight into my eyes. She was definitely older than me, and she was way hotter than I'd have ever imagined any older lady that'd ever speak to me.
"Right now?" I asked. "Uhm, I have to..."
"It shouldn't take long." She said, walking towards a particular seat in the restaurant. She settled in, and her guard or whoever he was, walked behind me as I went to sit close to her. He stood by the side and turned his back to us.
I did not know what to say, how to say it, or what to feel.
"What's your name?" She asked me, and as uncomfortable as I was getting, I knew I had to answer her.
"Maverick. Maverick Gray." I said.
"Well, I'm Blue. Blue Ashton, but you can call me Ruins." She said, looking at me confidently. I was barely meeting her eyes.
"Ashton as in Ashton?" I muttered, not like I'd have asked it out. I'd rather get home and get full details on the looks of all the Ashtons I've read about.
"Yeah. Ashton as in Ashton." She said. I do not know how she heard me, or if she heard me, but I really have to leave this place.
"You attend NYU?"
"Yeah. Junior year."
"Medicine, I guess?"
"Engineering."
"How do you still keep a pretty face? Most of the engineers I know almost lost their minds."
"I guess I've been finding it pretty easy." I shrugged, and she smirked.
"Tell me about your family." Blue said, and I was taken aback again. This is the second person that'd be this interested in me. The first never even asked this fast.
"Uhm... I don't... I don't think I'm comfortable discussing that topic with a total stranger." I said while she was on her phone.
"I'm so sorry if I made it sound like I was asking." She said, looking at me. I could swear that I saw her eyeballs turn red. As terrifying as that was, it was pretty fast.
"Are you fine? erm... your eyes."
"Answer the question, Maverick." She let the red glow stay this time, and I was beyond terrified. I could not shout, neither could I scream.
The Ashtons aren't supposed to be dangerous people, they're just a family of insane billionaires.
"Erm..." I was breathing hard, trying to find my calm, and also get my head in the right space. "I don't have parents. I lost my family when I turned 18."
"How've you been able to pull through college then?"
"Student loans." I responded, breathing really hard, and unable to compose myself.
"From what I can see here, you have the perfect CGPA. You're also in your junior year." She smiled and nodded her head. "You're what I'd call a nerd."
The fact that she could easily pull out my records had me even more terrified.
"I'm not a nerd." I said calmly. I hate being referred to as one.
"When last did you attend a party?"
"Six months ago? What does that have to do with it?"
"Who made you go?"
"Chloe?" I shrugged.
"And when last have you had a drink?"
"Not really a fan."
"A smoke?"
"Not a fan of that either."
"And you want me to believe you're not a nerd?"
"See, I don't know what you've got going on to be having glowing eyeballs, but I'd really just like to get out of here, take some coffee with my friends and just continue living like life's good." I said, trying so hard not to show fear.
"Look, Maverick, you're an A+ student, so I'll only say this once, and I'm pretty sure you'll get everything." She said, and then she smirked.
"I am a Werewolf. An Alpha at that." She said, and her bodyguard turned back, shocked that she was saying all these things. "Everything you've ever read in books about my kind are real, well, except a few things that you'll get to know of later."
She didn't stop there, she went on to alter my whole reality of humans and wolves. She didn't stop even when my head felt like it'd explode.
"...and the craziest part of all these things is that you are my mate." She said casually, striking me with the biggest rod. "I know you're just 23, and I'm 32, but I'm sure we can make it work."
"I an willing to offer you a deal for just six months. Marry me, keep appearances in the wolf world. Make my ex jealous by being so perfect when he's close, and I'll make sure you're free from money troubles, and also, literally any trouble."
"Refuse to take this deal, or tell anyone anything I've just told you, and I'll rip you to bits, and no one would even bat an eyelid." She said so calmly, not even raising her voice at any point, but it all screamed authority and power.
I was dazed! Shocked! It was like I had been put into a whole new idea of the world. Maybe even everything I've ever known has been a lie.
"Can I go out for some air?" I asked, breathing pretty fast. "Uhm, I also have to give them their coffee, it's getting pretty late." I swallowed hard.
She put her neat and beautiful hand on the table, and her claws grew out, scaring me even more.
"You have five minutes to come back with a positive answer, or I'll kill you." She smirked, and I hurriedly grabbed the tray. They almost poured again as I was terribly vibrating.
I rushed out, and Chloe was still giggling with Damian.
"Oh damn, I almost forgot this dork went to get coffee." He said, and Chloe laughed, beating his chest, taking the coffee from my hand.
"Stop it." She giggled. "He's my friend."
"Well I see why you like him. He doesn't have a pair of balls." Damian mocked me again, and she beat him again, telling him to stop.
"Thank you, Mav." She said, patting my arm.
The only plan I could make up was to run outside, beg Chloe to run away with me, so we can start a new life, but it doesn't seem like it'd happen.
How far away would I even get from a pack of Werewolf hunting me down?
What should I do? How would I get out of this unscathed?
Blue's POV
"Alpha, what's going on?" Kylie asked me, looking really bothered. Him, alongside every wolf in the wolf kingdom had always expected a marriage of power. One between me, and another powerful Alpha, and our packs would be merged, but here I am, making a decision based off my goddess given mate, and a non chalant man that I want to suffer.
"Just watch Kylie." I smirked. "It's a game, or don't you trust me?"
"I trust you, Alpha." Kylie sighed.
"Now, if he doesn't walk back in here in five minutes, find him and kill him, and I'll have the meeting." I ordered and he bowed.
I was going through his school profile and it was pretty good. He's way brilliant than the genius misogynistic father I had. He's special in fact.
I checked my wrist watch, and he had just about a minute left. I was tapping the table with my right index finger, counting down to the last second when the door sprung open.
A smirk appeared on my face as he walked in. He came back and sat in his previous position. He had gone out nervous and shaky, but he was very stable now.
I can't imagine that he'd have just processed everything I said so quickly, and accepted his fate.
"So, what do you say?" I asked, and he looked straight into my eyes.
"Why exactly do you want me?" Maverick asked. His voice was soothing. "Is it to get a position? Is to spite someone?"
"To spite someone, and to make him come back begging." I responded, and he sighed.
"You're an Alpha, and by the things you've told me, you're a kind of war hero that got her position by blood, sweat and intelligence." Maverick said. "You're not expected to marry anyone of lowly status, not to talk of a human."
"Let me handle that problem." I smiled. He does think pretty well.
"I'm guessing that there'd be several attacks on my life, yeah?"
"You'll have enough protection, and we just have to keep public appearances for six months." I said.
"And you'll just let me walk away after the six months?" Maverick asked. "With all your secrets?"
"Definitely not." I said truthfully.
"You'll kill me?"
"Nope." I said. "There's a process that gets everything about the wolf world out of your mind. It'll basically be like you never knew anything." I lied to him.
Maverick went silent, like he was weighing the choices he really doesn't have.
"So, what is it?" I asked. "Rather, what will it be?"
"A contract Marriage for six months in exchange for riches, or you die for being stubborn?" I asked.
"Do I even have a choice?" Maverick shook his head with a silent hiss. "I'm in."
"Good boy." I smiled. "I'll get it in writing and send it over for you to sign. In the meantime, I have a meeting. When I'm done, I'll find you."
Maverick didn't argue. Rather, he stood up, gave quick nods and he left the restaurant gently.
To think that I would have almost lashed out at Kylie for setting up a meet with a distributor in such a cheap place, to actually meeting my mate.
"Now, let's meet the guy?" I asked, standing up.
***
The meeting didn't take too long. I easily just threatened a cartel wolf pack's distributor from selling in my territory again. He was very compliant because the red in my eyes was not the usual red. Ashley once told me it was scarier than every other scary red she had seen.
"Where to now, Alpha?" Kylie asked.
"The boy's room." I said. "You have the contract, right?"
"Yes, Alpha." Kylie said, and I walked back into the car.
I told Jeff, the driver where we were headed to exactly, and he drove us there.
We walked the rest of the hall to his room. I had to stop at several places to take pictures with people, and just when I had weaved through the growing crowd, I knocked on his door, and he opened immediately.
I closed the door behind and it was just the two of us. I had expected his room to be dirty, or scattered at the very least, but it was clean, and that was encouraging.
"Hi." He greeted, looking at me.
He was wearing a very baggy black trouser and an ash singlet. His hands were in his pocket, making his slim body look absolutely sexy.
"Maverick." I said, walking towards him. "You can't look at me like you're scared of me in public."
"Who says I am?" Maverick asked and I chuckled.
"Your facial expression might not, but everything about your stench right now does. The way your heart is beating right now does." I said. "How would you hide that from a lot of scary wolves that would be trying to test how scared you can get?"
Maybe those questions were making me see how bad of an idea this whole thing had become.
"I'll get over it. I'm just trying to get my head together." Maverick said.
To close up the space between us, I used my speed to get close to him, and he barely flinched, but his heart rate went up. It was so loud that it'd have made my head burst.
"Do that again, and I might just lose my mind." Maverick said calmly.
"I wasn't this calm when my father first did that in front of me, but we need to find a way to get your heart rate down." I said.
"I'll figure that out."
"I don't think you understand..."
"I'm serious. I'll figure it out." He said, and I left it at that.
I spent a while showing him a few things about a wolf, including shifting into my wolf. He turned back when I was about to shift into my wolf. I chuckled at the innocence he possesses.
He stared in awe at my wolf, swallowing hard as he just watched.
"Blue is beautiful." He said, looking at my eyes, and then, I shifted back to my human state.
I caught him off guard, and he wasn't able to take his eyes off. I wasn't sure if the awe in his face had multiplied, or he was just in shock, because he fought so hard not to look at my whole body.
He has good control over his mind as he kept the look between the parts he had already seen; my boobs and face.
I got dressed again, and I could easily see the bulge he had from just seeing a part of me.
"You do realize that we would have to get naked a lot?" I asked. "As in, have sex just to make it look very real?"
"Erm..." He swallowed hard. "I... I... I really never thought of that."
"Or you're not into the idea of having sex with a 32 year old Alpha?" I asked.
"No... no... it's not that. It's just uhm..." Maverick stuttered.
"Don't worry. I'm just messing with you." I smiled, touching his face. "Sign the papers, and let's seal this deal already."
Maverick went through the papers for as long as he could. The contract was perfect, stating every single thing required from both parties.
Maverick cancelled a part of the contract and then signed it.
"This allows me to take half of your properties if we get divorced. Cancelling it shows the mistake." He said, and I was shook. I checked it, and he was right.
I also signed the papers and we shook hands.
I pulled him close, and I kissed him on the lips to stamp the deal we had just made.
"That's how wolves do it." I lied to the startled Maverick. "See you tomorrow at the courthouse."
I hurriedly left with Kylie who had somehow dispersed everyone, and I wasn't really feeling all good.
Kylie drove straight to the pack house, and I hurried to my room, still feeling very nauseous.
Somehow, I knew better than to call in sick, because no wolf ever feels sick. So it can only be one thing. I dragged out a pregnancy test kit.
Am I pregnant?
