Taming the billionaire's heart

Living in Newyork was a challenge I didn't see coming . New York is a city filled with luxurious hotels , people with luxurious lifestyle , expensive restaurants and malls and in the center of the city is where my workplace is located; a company that is known for its involvement in every sector, the CEO Is one of the richest people in the world making the company the top in US and paet of the top 3 in the world and I happen to be working in the HR department

"Jessica can you stop daydreaming" alexia whispered

I wasnt" I argued

"Well if you weren't you would have laughed when our Vp started her usual nusicance" she snorted

Okay, okay that's enough" our vp shouted " Everyone back to work"

I couldn't help but pity myself and everyone in this department because we are been called weirdos and a waste of companies money by the other departments" I whispered to Alexia

"Well I cannot but agree with them, because our Vp is really a raging mad woman" Liam said moving his chair closer to me and alexia

"Mr Thomas I believe gisting is not what you are paid for right?" She yelled

"Yes ma'am" Liam replied

Now get your asses back to work" she said as she glared at the 3 of us

"Yes ma'am" we chorused

This woman is clearly possessed, I can feel it" alexia whisper yelled

" Keep quiet the chief is heading towards us" I spoke

The chief of our department was the only one keeping us sane in that department and helping us escape the wrath of the ruthless Vp.

" Hello everyone" the chief greeted warmly as he entered.

" I'm so sorry if I have interrupted your work but I have something very important to request from you all" he said with a warm smile on his face.

"As you all know the executive meeting with the CEO is today and we executives of the company are all expected to be there with our personal assistant by our side, but unfortunately my PA as called on sick" he continued.

I could already feel alexia stiffen beside me and when I looked round at others, everyone had fear written on their face

"So I would really like if someone can volunteer"

Damien Knight who happens to be the CEO of Knight Industries was known for his ruthlessness to everyone , he was said to be a very cold and heartless person who doesn't care about others not to talk more of their feelings. He was known to be the most handsome man in the world but behind that handsomeness is a very cold heart. Being a PA to any executive is like committing suicide because you have to meet Mr Knight every month and you have the probability of even fired, because even breathing in the same room he is can get the person fired.

Anyone??

My mind immediately came back to what the chief was saying

"Any volunteer? "He asked again

"Sir do you mind if I choose someone?" Our Vp butted in

" No I don't mind, you can go ahead" he said with hope in his eyes

Immediately she was given the permission are eyes zoomed toward me, alexia and Liam

" Liam you go" She said and Liam looked up in horror.

"Ma I don't think I can , I have been feeling down since morning and I think I'm coming down with a flu" immediately after speaking he excused himself.

Immediately me and the Vp eyes came in contact the best thing that came out of her mouth was " Jessie you go then"

I tried finding an excuse but I couldn't so I just gave up and accepted defeat.

I couldn't say no, so I stood up reluctantly

I am so happy that you could render a helping hands toward me"chief smiled " let's quickly go before Mr Knight gets mad".

"Okay sir" I gritted out

" Let's go then" the chief smiled

I placed a fake smile on my face and followed him to the top floor while praying for this meeting to go successfully

We finally got to the CEO floor and walked towards the meeting room where other executive where filing in.

After every executive was sitted with their PA beside them, a very handsome man entered the room and I immediately recognised him as Brian Kingston the secretary to the devil

"Good morning everyone, Mr Knight should be here anytime soon" immediately he finished talking a very handsome and hot man who was 6ft tall with a well proportional physique exuding confidence with a chiseled jaw , piercing blue eyes , black sleek hair came into the room and I immediately knew that was Damien Knight. In my 3 years of working here I have never seen this man so close and he does no justice to the pictures in the magazine because he is drop dead fucking gorgeous .

He strode towards his seat at the top of the table without acknowledging anyone and pulled back his chair to seat. Our chief was sitting next to his chair meaning I was very close to him.

And seeing I did something that turned my life around for the worst

I sneezed

Immediately Damien turned to me with glaring eyes and I felt like been swallowed by the ground.

His face was void of any emotions and displayed no rage and while still under his glaring eyes I sneezed again.

Oh God , I'm about to die" I muttered

I could already see the consequence glaring back at me and that was me handing in my resignation letter or getting fired before the meeting.

" Sir something needs your attention outside" Brian whispered to him

" What is that?" He asked

"Elizabeth" that was the only reply Brian before he stood up with rage emitting from his body making me pity whosoever this Elizabeth was.

Not too long after he left the room , we all heard his booming voice from outside.

"Get her out of my company right now" he shouted

Everyone present in the room was surprised because Damien never shows emotions but this woman triggered the unknown in him and made him mad. And his cold self is so much better than his angry self.

Walking back into the meeting room with Brian following, the tension in the room was very high because of the anger emitting from his body

At this point I will be very happy to write and quickly submit my resignation letter instead of been at the receiving end of his anger, because that will be very dangerous.

The woman tried coming into the meeting again but was dragged out by the security while still shouting at the top.of her voice for Damien.

After the situation was cleared, Damien sat back as if nothing ever happened

"You can continue" He said coldly

At that moment I knew I was definitely getting fired and there goes my dreams down the drain and I was definitely going to write a book on how sneezing ruined my life.

The meeting went on for 1 more hour and after that everyone started leaving.

I went back to my department with a depressed face on

" Hey, are you okay?? , Did anything happen with the big boss??, Why the depressed look?" Alexia asked as she nudged me

" I made a very terrible mistake" I replied burying my face in my palm.

"What do you mean??"Liam asked

"I fucking sneezed" I cried out "and I'm very sure it has cost me my job".

Liam let out a loud laugh" you really need to stop with this prank, you must be joking".

Seeing me still crying, Liam lean forward towards me " you did what" he shouted

" How could you make such a terrible mistake" alexia yelled

Well it is not as if I could control my sneezing , it just came out unexpectedly" I said still crying

" Don't worry everything will be okay, he may not even remember you so calm down" alexia consoled me

No it will not be okay, I think I mainly sneezed because he was so hot, like flaming hot" I grumbled.

" What were you thinking?, Are you crazy?,how does that even make any sense?" He yelled and our Vp shused us.

You know you are going to get fired right? Hr said plainly.

"I know, I know "I said bursting in tears again.

"I could feel my dreams of owning the Kine estate crushing" I complained.

"Can you just stop?, you know you don't have half of the money to rent an apartment there not to talk of buying it" alexia whispered

You know there is nothing determination cannot do and i have been saving up for more than 10 years now" I replied

"Well your dreams are just too outrageous" She fired back.

"And you should know only billionaire's and millionaires live in that estate and you are neither" Liam rolled his eyes at me.

"Have some faith in me guys"

"The faith that is leading you to getting fired, ya right" alexia fired back

"Can you stop rubbing it in my face"

Getting up from my seat, I wasn't in the mood for working because I knew that day was probably the last day working in Knight industries but I had no choice since i have not submitted my resignation letter and it has not been announced that I have been fired .

So I basically spent the whole day working as usual even though the end result was still me getting fired.

It was finally the end of the workday and I was feeling joyous since I have not been fired until a colleague came in running towards us

"Did you guys hear??" She said while still panting heavily

"What happened??" Alexia asked

" The chief's personal assistant has been fired"

"Whattt??" I screamed

Oh my God I'm so doomed..

"I can't believe this" I said hyperlivating " he mistook me for her, oh my God he doesn't know my name so he must have forwarded it to chief's personal assistant".

"I can't really comprehend this" alexia said

"Help me guys, how I'm I going to do this??"

"Just keep it on the low for now, do not make a fuss about it yet , okay?"Liam said

"Okay"

"We must find a way to sort this out before it escalate" Liam said

" But what I feel is that the chief PA intentionally took leave to ditch the meeting, because this is not the first time she is taking a sick leave to ditch meetings"Liam said in a accusing tone

"How do you know that? What if if she was really sick , we can't assume" alexia said

" Well I don't say things I don't know anything about, if you need prove go and check her IG page" Liam barked out angrily

" Can you guys stop fighting please"i begged " I think I'm going to turn myself in"

" What I feel you should do is talk to chief first before turning your self in" alexia suggested.

" Okay I think i should go and talk to chief now, let me call him first" I took my phone in my hand and start dialing chief's number.

He picked on the third ring " Hello"

" Hello sir, it's me Miss Bells"

" ohhh jess, How are you"

" I'm fine sir"

" Hmmm....... I guess you have heard the news Jessie"

"Yes sir , that is the main reason I called you sir"

" ohhh, don't worry your little head about it, Go home and have a good rest everything will be fine"

" Okay sir" I said even though I knew sleep was not coming any time soon.

It was the next morning, immediately I got to work I went straight to the chief's office

"Come in " Chief answered and I entered

" ohhh jess, come and have a sit" he welcomed me in gesturing to a chair in front of him.

Immediately I sat down, someone placed a cup of coffee in front of me " Thank.........." With my eyes wide with pure shock I looked up and found the chief PA at my side.

"Howw....do....are"i stuttered.

" Don't worry about it, chief has already called me before he sent the mail and I told chief that I always wanted to quit this Job but I was too afraid to do that, and I guess God heard my prayers and gave me an opportunity like this , but the chief has recommended me to another company who has promised to take me in" she said with a small smile.

" So that means you're leaving willingly?" I asked with uncertainty written all over my face.

" Of course, I will be working in a less tense and stressful environment and the pay is also good, so don't worry you can keep your Job" she explained

" really?" I asked blinking more times than normal trying to comprehend the situation.

" But sir, what if Mr Knight find out? , won't it be described as deceiving him" I ask turning towards chief

" I don't think he would, he fires so many people in a day for him to remember their faces, so he will not remember your face but just make sure to stay out of his way for safety precautions"

" ohhh... my...gosh"i straightened up " I can't believe I'm doing this , this is do risky chief"

"Well it's true, it's very risky but you have to make sure you don't get caught if you want to keep your job. Mr Knight is very good at what he does but I dont agree with the way he fires his employees" chief shrugged "and I don't think anyone has done what we are doing now, so If we get caught everyone involved will be in trouble".

" Yes sir, I will make sure not to get caught sir, thank you very much sir" I stood up happily.

" I will take my leave now sir" I said walking towards the door.

"Okay jess, take care of yourself" chief said.

As I walked out of chief office I met my friends with their ears glued to the wall outside door anticipating my return.

Immediately they saw me they sprinted to my side" What happened?, what did chief say?, Tell us quickly".

"Well.. he said- and I told them the entire story, immediately I finished they crushed me in a tight hug.

"Ohhh my gosh, I'm so happy for you jess" alexia squealed

"I'm so proud of you jess, you pulled a trick no one has ever tried " Liam rejoiced

" Well I wouldn't have to do it if I had another way" I grinned.

" And I'm finally back with my dream KINE ESTATE ALL THE WAY" I chirped merrily while they groaned.

" Give up please" they said groaning

"Hmm... let me think about it..Never" I shook my head.

We begin walking down the hallway to our office

"The CEO is coming , HIDE" alexia cried out and slammed me into the wall.

"What is the..." I looked up and saw Damien and his secretary walking down the hallway facing us

" oh my gosh, they're coming they're coming , what are we going to do? " She whisper yelled making me more nervous.

" ohh my gosh, I'm so finished" I cried

I felt do helpless at that moment, my heart rate fastening with anxiety.

From the corner the eyes, I could see Damien's face and he looked troubled and frustrated while Brain was inspecting everywhere and everyone to make sure their was no potential threat.

And alexia been who she is was smiling broadly and suspiciously.

Why you may ask? Well one. Alexia is obsessed with handsome men and the combination of Damien and Brain was heaven

Two. Any time she is nervous and tries to hide something she tends to smile forcefully and weirdly.

" jeez alexia, you don't really want to know how you look right now , you look so damn suspicious" I whispered.

While alexia tried to conceal her flushed face from the view of others, Liam who had seen the smile before had a deep frown on his face .

Thankfully Brian didn't glance my way at all he was busy glaring very hard at alexia. When they finally walked past my breathing finally came back to normal.

" ohhhmy gosh they are so freaking hot" alexia said ignoring the glare both me and Liam were giving her.

Turning back to me with a serious face" jess you really need to find a better way to avoid Mr knight"

" I know and I must make sure to try unless all my dreams will be in shambles"

" So that makes us the knight avoiding squad" alexia said imitating our manager.

But everything does not go as planned right?.

A week passed and during this period we have not encountered both Damien and Brian. For the past week we have been making sure to track his every movement.

We made sure to take note of everything so we could use it to avoid him and avoid meeting or crossing path with him. I made sure to start coming 1½ hour earlier than him to avoid ever crossing his path. I wanted to be more safe than sorry even thoughi wasn't so sure if he will ever remember me.

Me and my friends became Mr Knight crazy stalkers especially alexia who took her job very seriously as the leader of the group. Even though stalkers was not a good title we had to do what had to be done.

We took the elevator to our floor only to meet withour very angry manager " miss bells, miss Smith and Mr Evans why are you late to work? And to add to that you all are late for your morning speech" she yelled.

"We are very sorry" we apologised together

" The next time this happens u will make sure to report you to the chief" she threatened and stormed off in anger

"As if the chief will listen to her" alexia whispered as we sat down

"Can you show me what you have been able to gather"i turned to Alexia.

She immediately gave me the book and I started flipping through the pages . Alexia has managed to get a hold of Damien's schedule and this was a very good blessing to me I could finally avoid events in which Mr Knight will be present using this book.

I dragged my hand down the calender I the notebook" What?, What Is this?, Company Anniversary/ Fiancé announcing party, what the heck is that?".

"Yeah" she nodded "didn't you hear?, Mr Knight will be announcing his fiancé to everyone on the day of the company anniversary.

" He has someone who wants to marry him?"

"Yeah" she shrugged.

" How is that even possible?"

" Well you practically live under a rock so how will you know, every single person has been talking about" she said mockingly and I rolled my eyes at her

" Well that's very weird, I wonder how a sane woman would want to spend the rest of her life with him".

" Well he is hot , handsome , has a very good banging body and he's rich, what else could she ask for?" She said with a dreamy face
