Chapter 1

Esther's P.O.V

I came out of taxi carrying my heavy box with left hand and dragged my luggage with my other hand

"Thank you" i said to the taxi driver as he drove off

i took a look at the tall building at my front and a "wow" escape from my mouth

i was strugling with the luggages in my hand and then i took some step inside the school compound.

i am Esther Anthony, am 19 and Am a nigerian..i am yoruba girl, i just got scholarship into the university of southern carolina, Los angeles

This school rocks, baby

Just taking a look at the surrounding, it's mad

My heart was jumping with joy, i didn't even know where i was going until i bumped into someone and crashhhhhhhhhhhhhh

My box fell to the floor and everthing scattered.

"Oh my God, Am sorry" we both said at the same time

"Am so sorry for.."

"No, am the one to apologize, i wasn't looking..am sorry"he said

" I wasn't even looking too, so..am sorry"i said

"Well, i guess we were both clumsy" he said and i chuckled

He bent to pick up my stuff that are scattered on the floor

"Thank you" I said to him

"You welcome" he walked away

i walked into the director's office.

Adi's P.O.V

i wanted to take a nap but the niggas in the room are not helping at all

"Did you see Rita's post this morning?" Niel asked and Jordan's face fell, he hates it when they bring any topic about rita.

Rita was his ex

"umh No" jordan replied

"damn just go check that f*cking post..that girl is a b***h" Niel said

"she took a picture naked in a bath tube" Niel continued

"I cant believe someone wasted four good years in a relationship with that bitch" i said and Niel burst into laughter

"well at least i still had a relationship, someone here had never dreamt of having one"Jordan said

" Well, if i wanted a girlfriend i would have gotten one since,but you know me, nigga i don't do those shit"i said

"Oh MR holy is every girl's dream?"Jordan said and i laughed

" Every girl in this building..well..obviously this school wants a cool guy that party not a guy that spends time reading books or Quran,Mr holy"Niel said i rolled my eyes

"and MR holy becomes everyone's favourite in the Examination hall" i said

My mind shifted to that girl i bumped into earlier

i kinda find something interesting in her

she's kinda pretty and fuck she's hot

I didn't even know when I drifted to sleep

Esther's P.O.V

i knocked on a big wooden door

"come in" i heard a husky voice say

i opened the door silently and pock my head in,i saw a fat man,he had a lot of beard,he was typing something on his computer

he looked up and smiled and signalled for me to come in

i moved in

"pls sit" he offered

i sat

"Good morning sir"i said

" Morning,You must be Esther Anthony,The girl on scholarship"he said

"Yes sir"

"Well we already prepared everything for you,So welcome to UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CARILONA" he said and reached for his drawer and brought out a key

"Your room will be room 060" he said

"Thank you so much sir" i said and he nodded

i stood up and went out with my luggages still with me

I stood at the door of a room

i was nervous,i mean will my room mates like me?

i finally found the courage to go in so i turned the knob and went in a "wow escaped my lips

i was still checking the room out .."New here?" i heard a voice

i turned and found a blonde girl on the bed with her headphone around her neck

"yh"i replied

" Am Esther"i said and strech my hand forward for an handshake

"Barbie" She said

"Barbie???"i asked

" well that's not really my name but i kinda like that name..Am Jeanette"she said

"nice name" i complemented

"i think so too" she replied

anyway she's gonna be useful i began unpacking

i didnt realize i had finish unpacking because i was in a deep conversation with jeanette

sincerely she is fun to be around with,i thought i was the only one whom could talk like hell,i never knew i will meet her

"it is dark already..aint you hungry?" she asked

"come on lets go to the cafetaria,am starving" she drew me outta the room

We got to the cafetaria

it was spacious,alot of people were there

we went to get our food

i had shrimp and grits with bacon while jean got chips and chicken

we sat and began eating while talking

"So what are you studying?"She asked

"Theatre art"

"That is great"

"Thanks

How about you?"I asked

"Science"she replied

"Okay"

By the time we finish eating almost every one in the cafeteria has gone

We went into our room and I laid on the bed and took out my novel reading it

I wanted to go out and read my novel under the cool atmosphere outside, enjoying the view of the moon like I usually do at Nigeria

Jean was asleep

I went out and went round the environment

I saw a garden

Yes..yes..yessssss

That is my favorite place

I took some steps into the garden

I moved towards the bed of some flowers and smelt them

They smell nice

"Did you visit this place just to come and smell some flowers at 9:00PM"I heard

I turned around I saw the guy I bumped into

"Hi"i greeted him

"Hi"he replied

He moved closer

"Wait..I know you"he said

"Yeah we bumped into each other in the morning"

"Oh"

"I am Esther"I greeted

I took some time to study him

He has grey eyes and brown hair,pink lips and pointed nose

He is really handsome

"I am Adi"he replied

"Nice to meet you Adi"

"Same here"

"I actually came here to read but seems you beat me into it"I said

I moved towards the bench and sat on it

"I can give you some space if you want" I said and stood up

"No you are free to come here and read"he said

I sat down back

"You read novels?he asked

"Yeah alot" I replied

"Same here"he said

"I can lend you one if you would like"I said

"Thank you" he said

I gave him one of my novels

We spent a lot of time at the garden, talking about novels and writers

Chapter 2

Esther's POV

"Get up"I heard

I opened my eyes and I saw Jean all dressed up

I checked the time and..WTF it is 8:00 in the morning

I ran into the bathroom and quickly had my bath and ran out the room

Jean was still in the room

She was sitting on the bed pressing her phone

She was waiting for me probably

I wore a pink tank top and an high waist trouser,I quickly arranged my books into my bag and put on my white Snickers

"Finally"She said and rolled her eyes

Adi's POV

I walked into the class with Niel

Jordan was having another class

Not long after the teacher came inside

"Morning,Class"He greeted

"Morning Sir"Everyone responded

"Well before I go into today's work, I am gonna collect my assignment from last class"He said shifting his glasses as he looks around

The class began murmuring

"Adi?"He called

"Yes sir?"

"Did you do my assignment?" He asked

"Yes sir"I replied

"I trust you"he said and came towards me

"Let me have it"he stretched out his hand

I gave it to him

He looked into it and smiled

"Wow,this is impressive"I turned around and looked towards Noel's sit.

He nodded his head negatively and gave me a f*ck you sign

I smirked

The class ended well

And I walked out of the class with Niel

Not long after Jordan joined us

We walked into the cafeteria

I sat down and watch as my two friends talked and argued

My eyes roamed about and it landed on Esther

I only saw her back view

She was talking to her friend

Her friend saw me and I quickly averted my eyes back to my table

I looked back at her and our eyes met

She smiled at me and waved

I smiled back

She has got a sweet smile

Esther's POV

"...So Everytime I.."I was saying when Jean I interrupted me

"Why is that guy over there staring at you?"She said

"Where?"I said and looked back and my eyes met with Adi's

I smiled and waved at him

He smiled and waved back

"Who is that?"Jean asked

"He is my new friend,he's name is Adi"I said

"I don't remember you meeting anyone and making friends with them"She said raising her brow

"Oh yesterday we met at the school garden,and we made friends"I said

"Oh okay"she said

"Don't you want me to meet your new friend"she said taking a drink from her cup

I looked at him and saw him staring at me

I looked back at Jean and nodded my head negatively

"That is a bad idea"I said

"Why?"

"Because I just met him okay,I can't just go to his table while his friends are also with him..it..it's awkward"I said

"Come on he is not gonna bite you,you are just gonna walk to his table and say hello"she said

"No"

"Please"she said clasping her hands together

"Okay what are you up to"I said staring at her suspiciously

She smiled

We stood up and walked out of the cafeteria

"Since you decided not to tell me what you are up to I guess I will have to figure that out myself"I said

She chuckled

Just then we walked into our room and she went into the bathroom

I stood up and went out

I decided to visit the garden again to see some flowers and a little side of me want to see him

I waved that thought away

Maybe I just find my self attractive to him because he is fun to chat with

I walked into the garden and the first thing I went to see was the beautiful flowers

I smelt them they were nice

"You really love flowers?"I heard and recognized the voice to be Adi's

I turned around and found him sitting on the bench,he was holding the book I borrowed him,he was probably reading before I came in

"Oh hi..yeah I do"I said

"Hi"

It was awkward because the atmosphere was different

We fell into an eye staring contest for a long time until he broke it with a smile and motioned for me to come sit with him

I sat down

We talked for alot of time until it was already late at night and I was feeling sleepy

He told me he was going to escort me to my room

We talked as we walked

I didn't even realize I was close to my room already

"So we are here.. Goodnight, Esther"he said

"Goodnight, Adi"I said

A part of me was sad,an really sure he was the type that wasn't into ladies

I gave a fake smile at him went into my room

I turned back and found an angry Jean

Chapter 3

Esther's POV

"Where have you been?"she asked with her hands akinbo

Now she is sounding like my mom

"At the garden"I said sitting on my bed

"Garden?"

"Yeah"I said

"You made me worried"She said

Seriously?🙄

I laid on my bed and thought about my night I mean maybe Adi doesn't wanna be close to girls

Maybe I am acting clingy to him

I sighed

But I am just a friend

I Love making friends

If I keep on acting clingy to him,he is gonna call me cheap

Cheap?

It sounded stupid

Maybe he doesn't know how to talk to ladies or he doesn't know how to start a conversation with ladies

Maybe I should avoid him

I didn't know when I slept off

Next Morning 🌁☁️

I was dressed in a blue jeans and a black cardigan witha black sneakers

I walked out of my room

Jean already left she was having an early morning class

I walked into the class and sat down

Sincerely it was not fun at all without Jean

Just then the lecturer walked into the class

"Good morning,class"she greeted

"Good morning,ma"

After class Jean came to class and we went to the cafeteria together

I wasn't even hungry maybe I just lost my appetite

But Miss Jean here almost ordered the whole cafeteria

As we sat down she started munching her chps she must have been really hungry

As I sat down and watched her eat

I looked around maybe I could get a view of Adi but I was disappointed because I didn't see him

Not long after He walked into the cafeteria with his friends

We exchanged an eye contact and I quickly look away

I looked back at Jean who was busy fighting with her food

He took the table next to ours

I tried so much not to look at him but I can't

I turned to take a look at him and I found him staring at me again

I quickly averted my eyes away and cleared my throat

Adi's POV

The first person I sighted was Esther

We both fall into an eye staring contest but she quickly averted her eyes back to her friend

What is wrong with her?

She always smile and wave at me

We took a sit next to hers

I kept staring at her

Maybe She is angry at me,I felt guilty because I didn't give her attention whenever we are together

Maybe she already notice that it was awkward whenever we are together and then she decided to stay away from me

Don't blame me!

I wasn't the girl type

Not like I despise them but I don't just being with them

They are one hell on a creature ever since my Ex left me

I decided to stay away from ladies

I thought all ladies where the same

So to avoid getting my heartbroken

I choose to stay away from them

Just then she stood up with her friend and left

I looked back at my friends they were arguing

I stood up and walked out

I walked into the garden,Maybe I am gonna find her at the garden

Well my guess was right

She was right there sitting on the bench reading her book

"Hi Esther"I said

She looked at me

"Hi"

"I saw you at the cafeteria today with your friend"I said moving close to her

"Oh"That was her only reply and she continued reading her book

That is awkward

"Esther??"I called and she looked up

"I...I..."I didn't even know what to say

She looked back at her book then at me

"Look I am sorry"i rushed my words

"Sorry??..Sorry for what?"she said

"Look I know I always make our Conversation awkward..I am sorry"I said looking at her

She sighed

"Adi Thank God you know you are always making our conversation awkward

I am not being clingy to you,I just wanna make friends but it is okay if you don't wanna be my friend"she said

"N..no"

"I am sorry"I said sincerely

She smiled

"Apology accepted"she said

"Adi..ad...woah woah"I heard niel's voice
