Chapter 1 Massy and her mysterious life

Massy made her way wearily into her slightly curved home. With 13 hours of work that day, the bar was the last job, and she was feeling like she would faint. One would think she was half dead, or a zombie with the way she walked and even looked like. She sometimes thought that children in her environment were running away from her and she was becoming a terror in the environment. Opening her door, she walks straight to her small fridge to get some to drink, maybe for some chill or relaxation.

The fridge was half gone and teetered already; she knew how terrible the fridge was and she would have to buy another one as soon as she could since this one was beyond repair.

But how would she buy another one when she barely had any money with her to take good care of herself before thinking of renovation?

Even if she had been born into poverty, her life would not have been as hard and unbearable as it was. With a sigh, she drank from the bottle eagerly, taking it in as if this was her last opportunity to stay alive.

Not only was she thankful, it shocked her that the fridge was still freezing and make the water a little cold. This was because it seems like her fridge is the best in turning off and coming back on like it pleased. As she was about to rest on the very hard chair close to her, her mind suddenly drifted to what happened at the bar.

At first, she never had expected to see one of her class mate she bullied in high school.

She had bullied a couple that she might not even be able to remember their faces, but certainly not this one. This one was special, especially bullied and maltreated by her. She knew that in another life, he would not move closer to her if he saw her.

His name is Malik Hampton, and that was the least of them she bullied and she never expected to see him at her workplace. She could remember the hatred lingering in his face when he call her name, which sent shivers down her spine. Fear gripped her, as she knew why he looked at her that way and what the look on his face meant.

She sighed, dropping the bottle of water on the fridge and decided that it was best for her not to think about him. Massy faked a smile before going to check the kitchen for what to eat for dinner.

"I need to get some groceries, "she thought to herself as she poured the remaining cereals she found on her food items shelf.

That was all she had for now, and she obviously did not know when and how she would be capable of buying another one, but she believes in herself. After taking the cereals for dinner, she had a brief shower to warm up her body in her small bathroom, which she found it difficult to bathe conveniently. The house had come without one, so she created the bathroom when she rented the house.

While she was house hunting, this house she was staying in was the cheapest she found around the area.

She couldn't say where she loved. She never loved the house once, but she had no choice because that was what she could afford. Apart from being the cheapest house in the area, it keeps her away from her family and them being away from her.

Her mind flew back to the time she was house hunting and how worse it was with job hunting during her shower. She just didn't even know when tears started dropping from her face as she was enjoying showing. She was done with the shower in fewer minutes than usual and had to move on to another thing to do.

Massy sighed again like she was an old woman suffering from the pains of old age as she stepped out and dried her body. She tries listing to song silently to distract her a little from all that she had been thinking about before that time.

Within same period, she continues her personal stuff by dressing in her already faded pyjamas.

These pyjamas were only one out of the very many things that spelt out her wretchedness.

She put it on smartly anyway and slumped on the tiny bed in her room to relax and reflect on her life.

With her face up to the sky that her lifeless roof blocked, she brooded over her life.

She was once a daughter of a billionaire and a famous one, one of the richest in Australia, to be more precise. She was Massy Felisha Tedd, the daughter of Damon Salvatore Tedd.

If one had told her all of this would happen to her, she would have denied it because of how rich her father was.

"Everything happened because of a snitch witch, ", she cursed as she hissed and adjusted her body position on the bed. Her mind then swiftly drifted back to Malik Hampton. He had turned into a more handsome guy.

Maybe she said that because he was no longer the four eyed kid, she knew anymore.

Everything about him screamed money and more money. He was wealthy, and even his skin looked rich with the diamonds of this world.

She remembered when they were still in high school, where they graduated from years ago.

During those periods, he was always her target, and at first she only bullied him as she did to others.

But when she discovered he had a crush on her, everything changed and he became an item of bullying.

Massey bullied him, morning, afternoon and night. She was even sure that he saw her in his dreams. She heaved deeply as she thought of her high school friends, whom she thought would help her.

After she got into this mess she was in now, she ran to those who were her friends from their high school for help. But to her utmost surprise, she instead got disappointed, and they chased her far away from them, including her ex-boyfriend.

Her phone suddenly rang so loudly, disrupting her thoughts, she picked it up without even looking at her phone's screen.

Chapter 2 The call

"Hello." Massy said and as she placed the phone on her ear, she could hear the sharp breath of the person talking in the background.

"Massy Felisha Tedd."A somewhat familiar voice called darkly from the background, which made her freeze. She closed her eyes and opened it as she blinked numerously with a trembling voice before she said "who is this?" Massy said confusingly as she held the phone.

The person chuckled darkly and, as if he expected her reaction, said, "your worst nightmare."

Just as she was about to check the screen to see who called, she heard a click and with that, the half dead phone went off.

She released the breath she did not even know she was holding, as her heart beat heavily against her chest. It was as if it wanted to pop out of her chest and she squeezed it while her mouth trembled in fear.

Maybe to others, it was no big deal, but to her, it was a bigger deal and It soaked her in her sweat despite the cool weather.

Her phone rang again, and again, this time she stared at the screen to see who it was, hopefully and afraid at the same time. She had hoped that the person who threatened her called her back to say it was all a joke and to keep her at ease. But she was afraid that it could be him because she knew the voice was masculine would call back to threaten her the more.

"Dad, " she saw on the screen of her phone and then lifted her other hand up wearily as she swipes to the receiver icon.

Massey did all amongst herself, trying as hard as she could to keep her breath steady and moving like nothing was wrong.

"Hey pops."She said when she picked the call finally, trying to talk in her normal voice.

"Are you okay?" Her father inquired, noticing her wobbling voice. She was still shaking, obviously.

"Yeah, I am fine, what?" She replied in a way to defend herself, since she did not want him to notice anything.

At some point, she was sure that he would not buy into the idea, but she did not still want to be like a weak girl to him.

Since she left home and was on her own, she should be able to take care of herself and little issues like that.

If this issue was as little as she had just thought about, then she would be happy and relieved, but unfortunately, it wasn't.

He wasn't saying anything, so it meant he was thinking about what was wrong as well, and there was silence.

"Dad, why did you call?" She said dad because she wanted him to come back and out of whatever it was he was thinking.

She asked her father that question because she hadn't heard from him in a long time and she did not even care.

Massy was unfortunately not sure if he did as well, because she expected him to have called at one time or the other.

Maybe she cared about him. After all, he was her father, and she was supposed to do that.

Also, her father went bankrupt, he had a heart problem, and it was his wife, which is her stepmother, that was taking care of him.

How everything changed drastically was an epic story that is ought to be titled, "from billionaire to nothing ."

She had heard of stories of men who had money and were very wealthy at the early stages of their lives but could not contain the wealth.

Even her father told her counties of stories that she could learn from, so she never expected it to happen to them as well.

If anyone had told her this would happen, she would argue with such people and even bully them like she used to do in those days, even till now. It was like a dream that was lasting till a very long time. All she needed to do was to wake up from the dream, but unfortunately, it was reality and not a dream at all.

Her mom died ten years ago. Those days, months and years were her worst days, which she couldn't forget throughout her life. The days, months and years become sadness and deep pain because her mother died just after her birthday.

A few years after her mother's death, her father brought in another woman as her mother.

It was at that point that things started falling apart, nothing could hold the centre of their family anymore. She was living in the poorest house because of her. She was living in this wretched house, all because of her stepmother, who seems to be a witch to her.

"Are you there?" Her father asked, confusingly, when he realized that he couldn't hear anything from her for a few seconds.

"Yeah, I could hear you clearly, dad." She mumbled under breath.

"Are you?......"

"No, I'm not, I just feel ..........., it shouldn't have been this way to us all."

Life had hit them hard multiple times and did not even give them the chance to get up to defend themselves.

Not even for once had they feel relax from all these issues. It just kept coming to them, day in, and day out, so painful, isn't it?. She spoke again in a terribly wobbling voice.

Her father sighed at the end of the phone. He could feel the frustration in her voice as well.

Massey was sure he would also be careful enough to listen to the discouragement in his voice. She could feel him giving up.

"Everything will be back to normal soon, my princess. Please don't give up now, Massy." Massy's father said to her softly, though he also felt the pain.

When she did not reply or even breathe into the phone, he continued, "Trust God, because soon, our sun will rise again ."

"Hmmm, really?" She said in total disbelief. She was tired of hearing him say these same words continuously.

"Yes, and by then our eagle will soar higher than all of its limitations, you'll see," He encouraged her politely.

"I will be patiently waiting for the day," she mumbled, finally trying to envision his words in her headnote. She felt a bit relief more than before, she believed it would, as she felt a bit of relief by his words. She yawned sleepily.

"Good night dad, thanks for today. It's good to hear you call me once every decade."

"You know that's not what I do, right, dear?"

"Yes, sure. Thank you."

"Sweet dreams, Princess."

"Same" she said flatly like she was more tired from making the call and keeping it prolonged.

"Don't miss your drugs and stay healthy for me."

"I will do my best."With that, she hanged up and placed her phone on the small nightstand beside her small bed before drifting off in her sleep.

Chapter 3 The most complicated day

ChApter three

Massy groaned as the alarm clock rang. She had turned it off many times that morning already.

It never misbehaves like this and doing all of this was making her feel more perplexed so early that morning.

The morning sickness of getting angry she had was enough with the frustration that the little alarm clock was giving her.

It made that terrible sound for the umpteenth time and angrily; she threw it at the corner of the room.

She was very furious as she turned heavily to the other side of the bed and slept off peacefully for the first time that morning.

But it was not up to a minute when the alarm rang again, and this time very louder.

She was now more annoyed by it because it made sure she was fully awake now as she sat up, stretched and yawned lazily on the bed.

Maybe she would have continued yawning and even lie down lazily on the bed if something had not occurred to her that very minute.

Her eyes suddenly met with the cracked old wall clock on the wall and she gasped in horror like she had seen a ghost.

"Holly Molly."She screamed and sprang to the small bathroom she created and hastily did her thing there.

As usual, she ensure that she did her daily routine, which included brushing and bathing.

Stepping out of the bathroom, she dried her body in a haste and got dressed even without rubbing body cream.

She, without brushing her messy hair, ran out of her house looking like a weirdo, a chronic one.

Getting to her first work for the day, she jumped out of the taxi she boarded without paying the driver. The driver, on the other hand, thought she was a thief and was determined not to let her go away with his money. Immediately, he winded down the glass and leaned to yell angrily after her, "My money, miss!" She turned to him and gave him the money in her hand, muttering sorry.

It was embarrassing, but she knew it was her fault, so that made her feel a little better. She knew she could still face worse that morning.

Although it was still a probability, anything could happen to her that could make her weep sourly that morning.

She was happy that the cab driver only eyed her, irritated by her sorriness, before putting his head back into the car. Stepping into the eatery where she worked part time in the morning, she met her boss waiting outside for her.

Massy felt that she was out of sight and thought for a minute before deciding what best she could do for herself. With a nervous smile to onlookers, she walked in sneakily trying to avoid her boss. She knew she was only trying her luck and unfortunately, she was unlucky because she was caught red-handed.

"Don't stress yourself by sneaking in. I already saw you, Massy," her boss voiced coldly. She turned to see her glaring at her coldly. "What says the time, Miss Tedd?" Her boss inquired about facing void emotions.

"Nine thirty."She replied with a nervous smile.

"When will this eatery open?" Asked her boss angrily.

"Seven AM." Massy replied in a low tone, knowing that she was already in trouble.

"When were you told to resume work at this eatery?" Asked the boss.

"Seven in the morning, ma." Massy reply

"You know I like punctuality and I told you what I wanted from you before hiring you," said the boss angrily to a Massy with her top voice.

"I'm sorry, ma, I woke up..." Massy replied

"You always have excuses to make, which I'm sick of. Please don't say that to me again," the boss replied concerningly.

"This would be the last one, ma'am."Massy was already shaking with fear from what her boss could do next.

"Yeah, that was what you said the last time." The boss cut off her words.

"This is the last time, ma. Please pardon me." Massy said with her voice shaking, begging for help.

"You have been doing this continuously and I believe that enough is enough." The boss said angrily, looking into her face.

"Ma.....?"

"You heard me right. Get out of my entry, and I don't want to see you anymore." The boss said angrily at Massey.

"Ma?" Massey said, astonished, she could not believe what she was hearing.

"Yes! I don't want to see you ever again, Massy Tedd." The boss repeated.

"What do you mean?" Massy asked confusingly.

"I mean you are fired." She hissed, getting irritated with the way Massy was dragging the issue in her favour.

Immediately, she knelt down and started begging her boss. By that time, those passing by the show noticed something was happening there.

"Mrs Johnson, I'm sorry, it won't..."

"That's what you always say, and you kept repeating the same mistake continuously."She cut her off.

"I'm sorry I did this, I really...."

"Get out, Massy, do not let me get pushed to the point of calling the security on you."

"I really have nowhere else to go."Tears were already welling up in her eyes, about to overflow.

"Respect yourself and get out without getting embarrassed, spare yourself every stress."The woman said unregrettably.

"Mrs..."

"Security take her..."

"I will get out myself."She said, and she stepped out of the eatery gloomily.

That was how she lost the highest paying job amidst her fifteen jobs for the day.

"There is still hope."She encouraged herself, thinking about the fourteen jobs she had left.

Unfortunately enough for her, on getting to the other fourteen jobs, they fired her like the first one.
