The gallery was bustling with activity as Isabella made her way through the crowds. She was here to see the work of a new artist, one whose paintings had
caught her eye in a local magazine. His name was David, and from what she had read, he was a humble painter who lived a simple life.
As she approached his section of the gallery, Isabella saw him standing by his paintings, talking to a group of admirers. He caught her eyes immediately - he was tall and lean, with sandy brown hair and bright blue eyes. He wore a simple white shirt and jeans, and his hands were stained with paint.
She took a deep breath and approached him, trying to keep her nerves under control.
"Excuse me," she said, "I'm interested in buying one of your paintings."
He turned, his eyes lighting up with a smile. "Of course," he said. "Which one caught your eye?"
Isabella pointed to a painting of a sunset, its vibrant colors swirling together in a beautiful display of light and shadow. "This one," she said. "It's stunning."
David grinned. "That's one of my favorites," he said. "Let me get it down for you."
As he retrieved the painting and wrapped it carefully, she couldn't help but feel drawn to him. There was something about his easy smile and down-to-earth manner that made her feel comfortable.
Little did she know tha, this simple interaction with David was about to change her life in ways she never could have imagined.
Isabella had always been a driven woman. She had started her own business from scratch and had worked tirelessly to turn it into a billion-dollar empire coupled with her rich family connection.
But despite her success, there was one thing that had always eluded her - true love. With all her wealth and power, Isabella feels unfulfilled and lonely and longs for a deeper connection with someone.
She has had her share of deceit and gold diggers as she had just shed some tears in the corner of her office. " I refuse to be down, " she said, " Jackson can go to hell for all I care " she fumes.
Jackson is the recent ex-boyfriend whom Isabella has just found out that his intentions don't match his actions. She takes one more glance at the local magazine she held and decides to walk down to the gallery to look at some art and clear her head.
" I am Isabella, what about you ?" David smile. "David Jonas at your call, my lady" Isabella got lost in thoughts in his eyes, those bright blue sexy eyes aren't something to look away from.
"I love your painting, " she said, " it all looks amazing" he smiled again Thank you". She pointed to other paintings that were close by "I wish that I could take it all, it's so beautiful."
He chuckles " Remind me to give you a discount when next you come around" he pauses You know what? I will give you a 30% discount on any painting you choose."
She couldn't accept such an offer from an upcoming, striving, young fine man who she obviously couldn't keep her eyes away from ever since the moment she stepped into the galler.
"Please don't do that" shy away "I wouldn't want to impose something like that on you on our first meeting"
David asked, "Does this mean that there will be a second meeting?"
She answered, "What do you think?" They both smiled.
Isabella felt an immediate connection to him, but she knew that if he found out about her wealth, he would see her as just another rich woman looking for a fling.
So she decided to play it cool. She approached him like any other customer, admiring his paintings and asking him about his process. David was friendly and easy to talk to, and Isabella found herself enjoying the conversation.
David Jonas was busy arranging his new collection when he heard the door of his art gallery open. He turned around to see a stunning woman walking towards him, her eyes sparkling in the light. "Hi there," she said, smiling at him.
"I looked through the window and noticed you aren't occupied and thought I'd come and take a look and say hi"
David smiled back, feeling a little nervous. He wasn't used to talking to such a beautiful woman and he didn't think that she would be back.
"I'm David once again," he said, extending his hand.
"Welcome to my gallery." They laughed.
As they walked around the gallery, Isabella asked David about his paintings, his inspiration, and his background. David opened up to her, telling her about his struggles as a young artist and his dreams of making it big one day.
Isabella listened with rapt attention, her eyes never leaving his face.
"I love your work," she said finally, as they stood in front of one of David's paintings. "You have real talent."
David blushed, feeling a surge of pleasure at her compliment. "Thank you," he said. "That means a lot to me."
They continued to talk for a while longer, discussing art, life, and everything in between. David found himself drawn to Isabella's intelligence, her wit, and her beauty. He couldn't help but feel a little smitten with her.
He asked her about work, life, and relationships and she lied about everything. She claims that she is between jobs but presently works as a secretary in her company, She told him that she comes from a poor family and she is in Chicago to make ends meet. David couldn't stop looking into her eyes as he loved her sincerity.
As they were about to say goodbye, Isabella hesitated. "David," she said, biting her lip. "I know this might sound forward, but would you like to go out for a drink with me sometime? I'd love to talk to you some more."
David's heart leaped in his chest. "I would love to," he said, feeling a little
giddy. "When were you thinking?"
"Tomorrow night?" Isabella suggested, her eyes shining. "I know this great little bar not too far from here."
David nodded eagerly, feeling like he was on top of the world. "Sounds perfect," he said.
As Isabella walked out of the gallery, David couldn't help but feel like he was in a dream. He had never met anyone like her before, and he couldn't wait to see her again.
Isabella sat on her couch, staring out the window as she thought about her last relationship. She had been with Jackson for almost a year, but it had ended in heartbreak when she discovered he had been cheating on her.
As she thought about it, she realized there had been warning signs all along. Jackson had been distant, always on his phone, and had started canceling plans at the last minute. Isabella had tried to ignore it, convincing herself that he was just busy or stressed at work. But deep down, she knew something was wrong.
Now, months after the breakup, Isabella was finally starting to move on. She had met David, a kind and thoughtful man who had caught her attention with his intelligence and sense of humor. They had been on a few dates and Isabella found herself fantasizing about the kind of healthy relationship they could have.
She imagined them spending lazy Sundays in bed, cuddled up with a book or watching a movie. She pictured them cooking together in the kitchen, sharing a bottle of wine and laughing as they made a mess. She dreamed of going on adventures together, exploring new places, and trying new things.
But most importantly, Isabella fantasized about a relationship built on honesty, trust, and respect. She thought about how David always listened to her and made her feel heard, how he never judged her or made her feel insecure. She imagined a future where they communicated openly and honestly and supported each other's dreams and aspirations.
As she daydreamed, there was a knock at the door. Isabella's heart skipped a beat as she jumped up to answer it. Standing on her doorstep was Kim, her assistant who is also one of her besties with a bouquet in her hand and a smile on her face.
"Hey," she said, her voice warm and judging. "I was in the neighborhood and thought I'd drop by."
Isabella sighed "I know that tone Kim, please don't judge me"
Isabella felt a wave of happiness wash over her as she invited her in. They sat on the couch together, chatting and laughing as they caught up on each other's lives. Isabella felt a sense of relief and she told Kim all about David and her plans to take things coolly.
"What's with the flower" Isabella inquired. "Guess who has it delivered to the office?" They both looked at each other in disbelief.
"He wouldn't dare" Isabella exclaimed. "Well he did," said Kim. "He's been delivering flowers to the office twice a week, I know these are your favorites and I don't feel like throwing it out" she smiles.
"That man got some nerves, well I don't need his flowers or an apology from him. I
am done with him".
Isabella sat across from her friend, nervously fidgeting with her fingers. She took a deep breath and blurted out, "I like David."
Kim's eyes lit up with excitement. "Oh, Isabella! That's wonderful news. Tell me more."
Isabella smiled shyly. "Well, we've been talking for a while now and we're planning our first date. I suggested we go to the bar around the corner."
Kim nodded approvingly. "That's a great spot. It's cozy and romantic."
Isabella's smile faded slightly as she began to fidget with her fingers again. "There's something else I need to tell you," she said hesitantly. "I lied to David about my financial situation. I told him I was poor when I'm not."
Kim's eyebrows furrowed in concern. "Why did you do that?"
"I don't know," Isabella admitted. "I guess I was afraid he would also pretend to love me for my money and not for who I am"
Kim reached across the table and took Isabella's hand. "Isabella, you deserve to be loved for who you are. You don't need to pretend to be someone else to be accepted."
Isabella nodded slowly, tears forming in her eyes. "I know you're right, but look at what Jackson did. He lied to me, he used me. I genuinely loved him and he broke my heart, he was just with me for my money. Every one of them wants me for my money, no one loves or cares about me "
"Don't you think he will be hurt when he finds out about your status, this is Chicago Isabella. Nothing stays hidden forever. You don't have to do it right away," her friend reassured her. "But when the time is right, I think you should be honest with him. He seems like a great guy and if he cares about you, he'll understand."
Isabella smiled through her tears, feeling a weight lifted off her shoulders. "Thank you, I needed to hear that." Wipe her tears "But I need to be sure that he loves me for me and not because I am rich, Let's wait and see if he is genuine"
Her friend squeezed her hand. "Of course. And speaking of David, you seem so happy when you talk about him. You should open up to him about your feelings."
Isabella blushed. "I don't know if I'm ready for that yet." she sighs "I need to heal from the whole Jackson situation but I am sure that I like David, he is special. I can feel it"
Kim grinned mischievously. "Well, don't take too long. You don't want him to slip away."
Kim grinned mischievously. "Well, don't take too long. You don't want him to slip away."
Isabella laughed, feeling grateful for her friend's advice and support. "I won't. Thanks for being here for me."
"Anytime," Kim replied, smiling warmly. "Now, tell me more about this first date."
As she looked through her closet, she decided to wear a simple dress that didn't look too expensive. She paired it with a pair of sandals and minimal jewelry. She needs to dress up to look the part that she had portrayed to David.
Isabella then turned her attention to her apartment. She lived in a luxurious penthouse downtown, but So, she decided to rent a small studio apartment for the night in case David insisted on walking her home.
She quickly booked a furnished, more like an Airbnb that is affordable online
and put a call through to Kim to help her drop some belongings there. She plans on shopping for some clothes that are cheap too, she wants to continue to live the life that she had talked about with David. Thinking about it, it won't be so bad to stay low and live a humble life without money. She can't wait to explore that part as she has never experienced it before.
She takes one more look at herself in the mirror satisfied with what she's seeing. She picked up her bag and looked around the penthouse for a while as she already thought of getting a permanent studio apartment where she would be staying henceforth. She said her last goodbyes and sent a text to Kim to get her a permanent small apartment where she will be living henceforth. She sighed and hoped it all worked out fine as she had hoped and dreamed about.
A text from Jackson pops up on her phone "He just wouldn't give up" she fumes angrily, "I don't want a text or an apology or a call from you". she angrily reply his text and warn him to stop contacting her then she blocks him "that serves you right, asshole".
She sighed "Calm down Isabella," she said to herself, "you don't want to get yourself all worked up over Jackson". "Think about David and his beautiful smile" She looks around and then at herself in the mirror
"It seems like I am going crazy, Can't believe that I am talking to myself" laughs hysterically. "Tonight is gonna be a great night, I promised". She blows out the candles and steps out of the house.
Isabella had always been cautious about trusting people, especially after what happened with her former personal assistant and her ex-boyfriend Jacob. But there was one person she could always count on Kim.
Kim had been with Isabella for a few months now, and she had quickly become more than just a personal assistant. She was also Isabella's best friend and confidante. Isabella trusted her with everything, from her schedule to her deepest secrets.
So when Charlotte, her former personal assistant started talking about a humble painter she was madly in love with, Isabella was intrigued. She had always been a bit of a romantic, and the idea of love at first sight appealed to her.
"Tell me more about this painter," Isabella said one day over lunch. "What's his name?"
"David, Charlotte replied with a dreamy smile. "He's amazing. He's so talented and kind and... just perfect."
Isabella couldn't help but discern a twinge of jealousy. Here was Charlotte, talking about this amazing man she was in love with, while Isabella's relationship with Jacob had been full of ups and downs. Constant argument and keeping malice for days, sometimes weeks.
After Isabella finds out about Jacob and Charlotte sleeping together, she almost
loses it She can't believe it, she so much trusted Charlotte and never thought she could ever betray her.
She had caught them pants down in his penthouse after lying to Isabella that he was out of town. "How could you do this to Charlotte"
Isabella asked shakily but Charlotte didn't give a damn about her. She shrugs and pulls Jacob closer to her but she pulls her hands away and runs after Isabella begging her not to go.
But then an idea started to form in Isabella's mind. Two could play the game, she thought. If Charlotte could sleep with her man, why couldn't she steal her painter crush?
So Isabella started to get closer to David. She would show up at his art shows, strike up conversations with him, and even offer to buy some of his paintings. At first, David was a bit wary of Isabella's sudden interest in him, but he couldn't deny that he was attracted to her.
Meanwhile, Charlotte was completely oblivious to what was going on. She was too caught up in her own baby girl lifestyle treatment with Jacob to notice that Isabella was making moves on her man.
"I can't believe this," Kim said, her eyes filling with mixed signals. "You're trying to steal Charlotte's boyfriend?"
"He's not her boyfriend," Isabella replied calmly. "And I'm not trying to steal him. We just have a connection, that's all."
"You're unbelievable," Kim said, standing up from the table. "Charlotte will kill you if she finds out". Isabella smiled " No she won't, she started this . Two can play the game".
But even as she walks toward the diner where David has been waiting for her. Isabella couldn't help but feel a sense of guilt about what she had done to Charlotte. She knew she had crossed a line, but she couldn't bring herself to stop.
She is playing a revenge game even though, the little time she has spent with David has captivated and re-directed her focus and plan.
